The iPad could not be synced because sync session failed to start.

I looked through the discussions and couldn't find an answer. I have the latest iOS (5.1.1) and iTunes (10.6.3). My other iOS devices sync fine. I have a MacBook Pro Mid-2010 edition running OS X Mountain Lion (in case this info is needed). I tried doing a soft and hard reset on the iPad, uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, and disabling Sync Over WiFi. I don't want to do a restore because then nothing I got on the iPad would be synced with iTunes to get everything back! I don't know what the problem is! Please help!

What the **** is wrong with you?
So "rebooting" (it's actually  called resetting and refers to the device, not the PC, Mr. IT) works, but one is not supposed to suggest it as a possible troubleshooting procedure?
The reason "try again" the sync was suggested is because this specific error message is usually generated when the iDevice starts the sync process before iTunes is ready, or vice versa. This might happen when iTunes is on a computer in sleep mode, or the device had Wi-Fi turned off to conserve power.
Both resolutions are platform agnostic.

    The Ipad could not be sync because the sync session failed to start

    Sometimes simply quitting everything and restarting will fix this. Quit iTunes, restart your computer, restart (or reboot) your iPad and try again.
    Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
    If you need to try rebooting - Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • HT201210 I am stuck with "The iPad could not be restored because the firmware file was corrupt" message.

    Hi
    I have an iPad mini and it was on iOS 6.1.3, my friend came and he said that he knows how to install iOS 7 for me. I gave it to him and he tried to install it, but apparently he failed to do so and an "Activation Error" is appearing on the screen now asking me to register in the developers program.
    Now, we are trying to restore it back to iOS 6.1.3 using iTunes, the software downloads well and it starts restoring but that I keep getting this error message "The iPad could not be restored because the firmware file was corrupt.".
    I am sure that the file is not corrupted because it's downloaded via iTunes regular download and it's not from an outside source.
    I am stuck with this now and my iPad is useless this way.
    Please any suggestions ?

    Yes, don't download Beta Software that you have no business or legal right to download and quit taking bad advice from friends.
    Now to maybe get you out of the restoring jam, the only thing that I can think of that might work is to use recovery mode, unless you already tried it and it didn't work.
    You can read about it here, but the instructions are posted below.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4097
    Disconnect the USB cable from the iPad, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
    Turn off iPad: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for iPad to turn off.
    If you cannot turn off iPad using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the iPad turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
    While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to iPad. When you reconnect the USB cable, iPad should power on.
    Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears you can release the Home button.
    If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the recovery mode alert that iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode.
    Use iTunes to restore iPad.

  • The iPad could not be synced because the sync session failed to finish

    Please help.
    I've tried resetting my iPad several times and yet when I simply try to sync to iMac and deselect everything but music all I get is the message:
    The iPad "J's Ipad" could not be synced because the sync session failed to finish.
    I've tried everything - any advice would be gratefully received!
    Thanks,
    J.

    Make sure you have the most recent version of iTunes. If not update and then try again. Of you still receive this error then attempt to backup the iPad. Then perform a restore from the backup.
    The only time I have received this error was because iTunes was not updated to the most recent release.

  • IPad could not be Synced because it is no longer authorized for purchased items that are on iPad

    I recently purchased an IPAD AIR and synced ir with my comuter. 14 days later I try and SYNC it and I get a message " The IPAD could not be synced because this computer is no longe authorized for purchased items that are on this IPAD. The apple id's are the same and only 2 devices authorized. Meessage states to go to STORE and Authorize Computer. When I do I get a Message it is already authorized

    The problem appeared to be a Pending Request on the IPAD for the new ICLOUD option to share Keychain. I cleared that up and it appears that fixed the issue. Thanks for your help

  • IPad won't sync.  Getting message "The iPad "Jennifer iPad" could not be synced because the sync session failed to finish."

    Getting message "The iPad “Jennifer iPad” could not be synced because the sync session failed to finish."  Or it looks like its going to sync but then I see it flash, "Cancelling Sync."  The only thing I can think I have done differently is I purchased a video from iTunes on my iMac.  Want to transfer it to the iPad.
    Thanks... this is so frustrating!!!

    Not sure if this will help but I would try disconnecting your iPad then restarting your computer. Also reboot your iPad. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider until the Apple logo appear. Let go of the buttons and let the iPad restart. See if that fixes your problem. After both have started back up reconnect your iPad and try to sync again.
    Im presumming here that you had been able to sync your ipad before you purchased the new video. If it fails to sync after the restart I would deselect the new video you purchased and try syncing. It just could be there is something wrong with that video file.

  • IOS 5: The iPad "..." could not be synced because the sync session failed to start.

    Am trying to migrate into the iCloud and updated:
    1. Mac Air to 10.7.2
    2. iTunes to 10.5.(141)
    3. iPad (1) to iOS 5 (9A334)
    Was able to sychronize and then found out I lost all my apps and rearranged them in iTunes and hoping I could resync them again and received:
    The iPad “...” could not be synced because the sync session failed to start.
    I saw various entries for this in the the communites mainly caused by earlier Betas but I haven't seen anything for the latest versions released last week.
    Anybody who can help?

    Try resetting your iPad an see if that will let you sync.
    Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
    Try restarting your computer as well.

  • HT4236 tring to sync photos from my pc to ipad but it says "ITune cannot sync apps to the Ipad "user's Ipad" because the apps installed on the Ipad could not be determined.  I don't know what that means.  Can anyone help?

    I am trying to sync photograpghs from my PC to my ipad but it is saying ITunes cannot sync apps to the ipad "user's ipad" because the apps installed on the ipad could not be determined.  I have no idea what that means.  Can anyone help?

    I'm sorry about your loss.
    Are you trying to recover data from this iPad, or to set it up as new (erase everything on it, and simply use the iPad as if it were brand new as your new iPad)?
    If the latter, you can place the iPad into recovery mode as shown here.  You may have to try this several times:
    iOS: Unable to update or restore

    I am getting this error message after upgrading to iOS5: "iTunes cannot sync apps to the iPad "ray's iPad" because the apps installed on the iPad could not be determined."
    I wiped it out and restored from backup but I am still getting the same message.

    I uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes and that fixed it. Here are the specific instructions that I was given.
    ~~~
    Try the following steps:
    1. Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:
    http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
    Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.
    2. You should remove all instances of iTunes and the rest of the components listed below:
    it may be necessary to remove all traces of iTunes, QuickTime, and related software components from your computer before reinstalling iTunes.
    Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order:
    iTunes
    QuickTime
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
    Follow the instructions from Apple article listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 to remove all components
    3. Reboot your computer. Next, download iTunes from here:http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and install from scratch
    Good Luck!
