The iPad shuts down when the cover is closed so I can't get mail message or Skype alerts?

Didnt do it at first but now when the ipad cover is closed it wont alert me to mail or massages etc.
Done everything I can think of but to no avail.
Perhaps I have changed a setting without realising it...
Can any one help with that one?

I have tried everything I could to fix this, but some things require actually being on Firefox, and since I cannot get on, I cannot click on the tabs to do it. I have even totally uninstalled firefox, and that has not fixed this. I still get the same message that firefox is running and I need to close it or restart (which I have also tried dozens of times). I have removed things like Java, and that has not helped either. If I cannot even get on line in firefox, how can I fix this. I am not crazy about using internet explorer, but right now, it is my only option. I even tried to start in safe mode, and the same message box pops up!

  • Why does my iPad shut down when I try to open Facebook?

Why does my iPad shut down when I try to open Facebook?  it just started doing this 3 days ago.  I cannot get into my Facebook account on my iPad!!

Close all apps in the multi-task window and try again.
    1.Double-click the Home button.
    2. Swipe the app's preview up to close it.
    3. Preview will fly off the screen.

Yes - I connected my phone to my computer / Itunes and went into the apps section, but from there I have no idea how to manage the push notifications.  I even tryied going into itunes that is installed on my phone.  I still cannot find anyplace to manage these popups.  I have also gone into settings - notifiations - and tried turning all notifications for these apps all off but that didnt work either.  Any guidance is MUCH appreciated - Im not sure where to go from here.

  • I recently got a 5S, and when I am using the phone, my cheek seems to tap the screen, and calls other people, or mutes, or enables some of the other features that are not shutting down when I am talking to someone.  Can someone help, please!

I recently got the iPhone 5S, and when I am talking, my cheek will touch the various buttons on the scene, and I am calling, going mute, or touching the keypad, and such.  How can I get the phone screen to stop doing this while I am talking.  I have IOS 8.  Thank you.  Please reply in simple terms, as I am not the best at understanding how to fix things.  Thanks again.

First, try a reset to see if that clears it up:
Hold down the home button and the power button together until the screen goes black and the Apple logo appears, then let go of the buttons. This will not cause any data loss and is like a reboot for your phone.

  • Ipad shuts down when i load safari

My Ipad shuts downs tha minute a seach anything using safari?

Try clearing Safari's cache : Settings > Safari > Clear Cookies And Data (Clear Cache on iOS 4) and also Clear History
Then close Safari completely and do a reset and see if that helps. To close Safari : from the home screen (i.e. not with Safari 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
To do a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Ipad shuts down when syncing

This is a new problem I'm having. Whenever I connect my Ipad to my pc and start i tunes, it works for a minute or two, until I start syncing something, and then the ipad shuts down and the apple icon appears. Then I have to reboot the ipad to get it back to work again. So basically I can't upload or download anything from itunes. What's wrong here?? is it itunes? my pc? or did something in my ipad went broke?? help!

If this is a new problem, go through any new photos you may have saved on the iPad and remove them. I had this same problem and I combed the interwebs for a solution, I tried it, and it works.
The iPad is a bit picky on what image formats it supports and supports well. Some cause it to crash for seemingly no reason. Corrupt files can also lead to the same result.
    Good luck!

  • My ipad shuts down when downloading

My ipad shuts down several times a day, perhaps, if I go on facebook and want to see older posts, it shows loading but them it never loads and shuts off the page, how can I fix it? It's been going on for way too long now and I'm sick of it!!

    LilPeachPie:
I have two iPad 2s and they both were almost unusable after upgrading to iOS 8.  Upgrading to iOS 8.1 did not help either.  I did a full erase and restore through iTunes but that did not resolve the problems.
After a rather long visit to the local Genius Bar and some evaluation of the error messages within the diagnostic section of the OS, it was determined that there was either an app or some data that became corrupted and was causing all of the issues.  Their suggestion was to do a full reset of the iPad through iTunes but this time, set it up as a new unit, and then reinstall the apps I wanted directly from the app store.
I have now done that on both iPads and both are back to running smoothly.  While they are a little slower than prior OS versions we need to remember that we are using the lowest powered hardware that is supported by the OS. But they are definitely usable.  As an added bonus, there were a lot of apps I never used and decided not to reinstall at this time so I have gained a lot of extra space on the iPads.
I would suggest doing the restore and see how it works.  Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    David

  • Ipad shuts down when battery is at 20%, since updating to 7.0.4

I've read a few posts about battery issues and I've tried everything from battery saving tips, to resets, to restoring my ipad. Nothing is working. My sister also has an ipad 2 and has exactly the same issue except hers shuts down at 35-45%. This is only since updating to iOS 7, possibly only since iOS 7.0.4.
Can anyone help? Apple? Why can't we roll back a version any more?
My ipad is out of warranty and I don't want to pay for a new battery when it seems to me to be a software issue...
    All replies appreciated.

Could be the charger, cable or iPad. Plug the USB cable into your computer. It may say "Not Charging", however, it is charging slowly and will verify that the cable is good.
Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • IPad shuts down when checking email after unlocking screen and listening to music

My iPad has begun to shut down and go to main screen while checking my emails .....I had just unlocked my screen and stoping playing aol music. I would love some help if possible?

Try rebooting the ipad by pressing and holding the on/off and home buttons simultaneously until the screen goes blank and you see the apple logo. It should take about 10-15 seconds to reboot.

  • How come my program doesn't shut down when all windows are closed?

As of Java 1.5 (maybe earlier) java is supposed to exit when all windows have been closed. I have confirmed that this happens in a simple case of displaying 2 JFrames and closing both. Can anyone tell me why it's not happening in the case of 2 frames and 1 dialog here?

  • Ipad shuts down when I press the home button

While reordering my app folders, I attempted to use the home button to close some apps and my ipad screen blackens- then the apple icon appears. I my able to "wake" it up again in a minute or so.  A couple of times, the brightness was reset to very low. It's plugged in and has at least 80% charge.  I did a hard reset; problem still ocrruring. I noticed that the app I moved, was back to it's orginal place- weird. Any ideas?

Try this to calibrate your home button:
Open a stock iOS app (e.g., Clock). Once the app is open, press your iPad’s power button until the ‘slide to power off’ screen appears. From that screen, press and hold your Home button until iOS force quits the stock app you have open. You’re done!
