The iphone cannot be synced. you do not have enough access privileges for this operation

The iPhone"Kyle's iPhone" cannot be synced. You do not have enought access privileges for this opperation. what do i do?

Thank you.
I actually figured it out a while ago.
Turns out it is not an issue with the iPhone or iTunes.
By process of elimination I deduced it could be a permissions issue with the hard drive and/or folder that holds the contents of my Music Library.
For example, if the "Sharing & Permissions" settings (found in the "Get Info" Window) are set to "Read Only" on the internal or external drive that contains your Music Library for iTunes then you can not write to the disk. Therefore, you do not have privelges to make changes to the internal or external drive and you get the error message when you try to sync with the information on that drive.
Here's the kicker and million dollar questions:
How did the "Sharing & Permissions" settings get changed on my Hard Drive without me doing it?
Why did my iPhone sync fine yesterday and suddenly today the Hard Drive is doing this?
I have to set all priveleges to all drives to "Read & Write" and that just doesn't seem very secure to me.

    Hey there Opal4,
It sounds like you are unable to use iTunes due to this error message about not having enough access privileges. According to the following article you may need to change the permissions on the file directly:
These messages occur if permissions are incorrect on your designated music folder or on a folder inside your designated music folder. Permissions are settings that determine who can read, write to, or execute a file or folder on your computer. Every file and folder on your hard disk has an associated set of permissions.
Example: If permissions are correct on your Music folder, but incorrect on the U2 folder inside your Music folder, you would be able to add other music to your iTunes library, but not that new U2 album.

If you still want to sync your photos try this instead:
    1. Go to the Pictures folder in the Finder window (Pictures usually appears under Favorites in the sidebar of the Finder window)
    2. **Locate the iPhoto Library file and Right click on the file and select Show Package Contents.
    3. Locate the iPod Photo Cache folder and delete it.
    4. Try the sync process again, it should work.
** Sometimes the iPod Photo Cache folder is simply in the Pictures folder and step 2 is not necessary

You probably didn't install iTunes from a user account with Administrator privileges.

See this article about troubleshooting the error message regarding access privelages.  It may be preventing your iTunes library from being able to save/retain music you have recently imported to it, which may explain why no new content is being added to your device.

  • "The iTunes library file cannot be saved. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation."

keep getting       '' the itunes library file cannot be saved. you do not have enough access privledges''  when ever i try to add or change my library, why? have tried  several suggestions on the internet to stop this from happening but with no success. i am running windows 7. has started happening since installing new security software. would this have anything to do with this problem? any suggestions

The location of the iTunes Library file may be read-only or owned by a different user.
    Default locations:
    XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<login>\My Documents\My Music\iTunes
    Vista: C:\Users\<login>\Music\iTunes
    Windows 7: C:\Users\My Music\itunes
Right click the iTunes folder and choose Properties
Look at the Attributes and see if Read-Only is checked.
Uncheck it and click OK, at the apply to all subfolders and files prompt, make sure all subfolders and files is selected and click OK.
If your iTunes library saves now you are done.
If it does not you will need to try on each directory above the iTunes directory.
Of course if you are not using the default locations you'll have to alter the path to the one you find in iTunes Edit->Preferences, Advanced tab.

  • Itunes library cannot be saved. you do not have enough access privileges for this operation - error message

I keep getting this message.  It just suddenly started happening!

Actually, yes I used to have MS Antispyware installed, but now I have uninstalled it and upgraded to the Windows Defender program, which was supposed to be a replacement.
    good lord.
okay, we would get some reports of people getting an "you don't have enough access privileges" message with regard to setting itunes as the default music player if they had MS Antispyware beta running during an itunes install.
let's try an experiment. try switching Windows Defender off prior to opening itunes.
do you still get the access privileges error message?

  • TS4062 This iPhone cannot be synched. You do not have enough access privledges for this operation.

I have installed the latest version of iTunes on a new computer and want to sync my phone on it. I receive this message when trying to sync. I have tried unchecking sync photos but still no luck. Thanks

Try creating a folder in a different location (outside of the Pictures library such as on your desktop), copying the pictures you want to sync to this folder, then syncing this folder to your phone by selecting to do so on the Photos tab of your iTune sync settings.  If you still get this error try disabling your anti-virus software and syncing. If still having problems try deleting the iPod Photo Cache folder, usually located in your Pictures library.

  • HT1386 I get an error message when I try to sync my iPod touch - "you do not have enough access privileges for this operation"

I recently installed a new hard drive on my PC, downloaded iTunes, updated the software on my iPod touch and now I get this error message when I try to sync:  "you do not have enough access privileges for this operation."  It never did this before, whether it's the upgrade in software or something in iTunes, but it's very frustrating, since I'd like to add more things to my iPod.

  • New audio files receives error message from iTunes - You do not have enough access privileges for this operation.

Every time a new audio file is downloaded onto my desktop, (or if I double click on a new audio file) iTunes no-longer will play them. It gives an error message stating: Attempting to copy to the disk "Mackintosh" failed. You do not have enough access privileges for this operations.
Please can you help me to resolve this situaion. I confess that I am not very computer savvy.

    Launch iTunes on the computer.
From the iTunes menu bar click Store > Authorize This Computer
Make sure to sign in using the same Apple ID used on the iPhone.
    Then sync your iPhone.

The iPhone "iPhone" cannot be synced. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation. is preventing my iPhone from syncing. How do I fix it? I have changed permissions until blue in the face. What is going on? Why is this so hard? I just want to sync my phone.
A little background. My iTunes library is in a shared folder. My Aperture library is on a .DMG in the shared folder with "ignore permissions on this volume" checked. I have added myself with read and write privileges to everything that I can find. What gives? Thanks in advance.

PC, windows7, iphone4, updated iphone (5.0.1) and itunes (10.5.2.11) software. Started getting "iphone cannot be synced. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation" message.
Solution I found that worked: Uncheck "Sync photos from Iphone" in Itunes / Devices / Photos tab.
