"The iPhone could not be synced because the sync session failed to finish" Help!
So i have multiple devices synced to my macbook pro including an iphone 3g, 4, and 4s. 3g running 4.2.1, 4 running ios 5, and the 4s running ios 5 as well. I've had no trouble in the past month syncing the phones whether it be music, photos, contacts, etc. Now that i have updated my iTunes to the latest software i am getting a message saying "the iphone could not be synced because the sync session failed to finish". It shows this error message with every device that i plug into my mac including ipods. I've tried restoring all these devices, deleted all backups, and unchecked/checked libraries to sync one at a time. Nothing works. Please help!!!!!
Open itunes and connect iphone to itunes, syncing (=failed), exit itunes without unplugging and then open itunes again. if this doesnt work, uncheck apps & photos, sync again, before finish syncing stop it, then check it again.

im experiencing the same problem rite now. i just bought a 4s for my wife yesterday. when i tried updating the ios to 1.0.5 directly from the phone, it showed - 'Unable to Check for Update. An error occured while checking for a software update. and when i tried updating it via itunes, i got this msg - The iPhone "xxx iphone" could not be updated because the firmware file is not compatible.
my internet connection is perfectly ok here. can anybody help me on this?

This often happens when iTunes is not up to date. Try updating iTunes to the latest version, then try updating your phone again.

I am trying to update my Iphone software from 4.2.1 to the latest version.
I have tried restoring itunes, and also the update however the same message pops up at the end of installation.

Was your phone ever locked to a different phone carrier than the one your on now?
If so how was your phone unlocked?

I have read several questions on this but dont see a solution.Activation requires a SIM, assuming the SIM is functional it should simply activate.
The vast majority of activation issues are the result of devices that have been hacked or jailbroken. If that is the case, no support can be provided here. -

I have tried to install the 5.1,1 update but got the message that the firware is incompatible, how do i reslove this
You can upgrade to Mavericks free, just run the App Store program and search for Mavericks. But before you do upgrade I recommend the following:
1) make sure you have a recent backup. TimeMachine is fine.
2) Mavericks is somewhat more memory hungry than 10.7 was. You will need 4 GB of RAM and I strongly recommend 8 GB.
Go back to the Apple menu and select About this Mac - look under the OS info you just looked at. You'll see how much RAM your computer has now. Then click on the More Info button. There you will see your computer info listed as in: iMac, 21.5" mid 2010, for example. Return back with that information and we can tell you how far the computer can be upgraded.
If you decide to procede and you have enough RAM upgrading to Mavericks is quite simple. Click on the download button and let it do its job. -
I am receiving this error message repeatedly, but it doesnt feature in any of the error code or message lists.

Can anyone tell me what the error message means and how to get it sorted? Thanks!Are you sure your phone is a 3GS and not a 3G? 3G IPhone cannot be updated any higher than iOS 4.2.1 and this might be the reason why you are getting the not compatible error.

The iPhone "My Name here" could not be synced because the iPhone could not be found on the network. that is a pop up box in middle of screen that says that it does it like every time I go to sync the phone after i do app updates.
