The iPhoto is not working...  Program is broken...

When i start iphoto it's not working and it says the program is broken... What can i do?

To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
2c: on 10.7 they're at
/private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store you can find it in your Purchases List.

  • Iphoto will not work after uploading yosemite

After uploading the Yosemite upgrade. The iPhoto will not work. I have done what the software recommends. I have deleted the app and reloaded it. I get the same message. The message that i get is:
your photo library is either in use by another application or has become unreadable.
shut down and restart your computer and then open iPhoto again. if the problem persists. try rebuilding your photo library. to do this quit iPhoto, and then reopen it while keeping the option and command keys pressed. you can also try restoring your photo library from a backup.
Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

The button on my Ipod Touch (the big one just below the screen) will not work when I press it. Nothing happens, when before it would wake my IPod out of sleep mode, and exit out of programs I was using (ex. ITunes or Safari to main screen) . Now, no reactions. When I press the button, it appears to be more indented then it was before. What should I do? Do I need to get it fixed or replaced, or is this a problem I can fix on my own? Whatever it is, I really need some advice. Thanks in advance.

1 - the iPhoto application and the iPhoto library (where you pictures are stored) are separate
2 - deleting the iPhoto application will not help
3 - if you log into the App store using the Apple ID that was used to install iPhoto  (or set up the computer) you should be able to upgrade the application
4 - Apple ID issues can not be solved here  - contact the App store support - link is on the right of the App store window

Mac, have just upgraded to Yosemite and when I shall open Photoshop (CS4), the following message appears:
"The licensing of the product does not work"
    Fault 6
    How should I proceed?
Have the program installed on only one computer.

Download the Adobe Licensing Repair Tool.
    Run the License Service Update.
Mac OS X 10.7 and above:
    a. Double-click the LicenseRecovery111.dmg   It will extract the folder. Open the folder.
    b. Double-click your Hard Drive.
    c. Double-click Applications.
    d. Double-click Utilities.
    e. Double-click Terminal.
    f. Type sudo python
Note: There is a space following “python”. Do not press Return.
    g. Drag LicenseRecover.py from the LicenseRecovery111 folder onto the Terminal Window and press Return.
    It should look like this:
    h. Enter your administrator user name and password when prompted and click OK.
(Note: the cursor will not move and you will not see stars or dots, just enter your password anyway.
    i. Let the script run, it will tell you when it is finished. Quit terminal and restart Photoshop

my iPhoto will not work with Yosemite, and it says that it was purchased under a different account, but that's not the case.  Any ideas why I cannot update iPhoto?

How did you buy iPhoto? Did it come preinstalled on your computer with Lion or later, or did it come with Snowleopard on system installer disks?
    Which version of iPhoto?
If you have a version of iPhoto '11 and it is showing on the Purchased tab of the App Store, with your Apple ID, then delete iPhoto from the Applications folder  (don't empty the Trash) and download iPhoto again from the Purchased tab.
If that does not work, contact The App Store Support  from the Quick Links on the AppStore main page.
Only apple Support can fix problems with apple ID.

  • Does sharing the iPhoto library really work?

Does sharing the iPhoto library really work?

Yes I've used both apps to open the same library and it has worked. There are some things in each library that do not carry over, books for one and I'm not sure about slide shows.
But the basic functionality works in both programs on the same library. Having wrote that I still believe in the advice we always gave out to new users before this recent change, when the library was not readable by both programs.
That advice was to pick one program and use that one exclusively.  Before the recent change the reason for this was more obvious but now that the library can be read by both programs why stick to one?  One reason is comfort. Both programs while doing basically the same task do it just differently enough that switching between the two will be confusing. And when you are confused you are more likely to make mistakes. And mistakes in this case lead to image loss.
Second Aperture is a fairly complex program and will require some time to learn it and use it well. If you're switching back and forth the time to learn it will be increased and you may never really get everything out of it.
I think the great benefit of this recent change is that one it makes it a lot easier to migrate to Aperture, two if for some reason you decide that Aperture isn;t right for you there is no problem going back to iPhoto (in the past this was not possible without a great deal of effort and even then data would be lost) and three if other people in your household need to access the images in the library occasionally they can use the simpler iPhoto interface to do this.
So my advice is stiil the same as it was before, pick one of the applications, Aperture or iPhoto, and make that your primary tool. In the long run you'll be  better off.
    regards
PS in regards to the RAM question, 4gb will work but you'll be happier with 8gb
    good luck

  • What should I do if the camera's not working and mac can't find it?

The camers's not working. When I open Photo Booth there's a line says "Camera is not turned on". The same thing in other programs deals with camera. What should I do?

You should be able to select Force Quit from the menu beneath the Apple icon in Finder
and choose to Quit iPhoto from there, without messing up the Mac OS X in the process.
    OS X - Support
Not sure if rebuilding the iPhoto library would help this issue. However if you had to
turn off the computer without the correct method (unplug, etc; instead of menu choice)
the system may have accrued damages and should be checked, maybe repaired by
use of the Disk Utility in the system. Or restart the computer in Safe Boot mode, then
run 'repair disk permissions' while it is running in that reduced mode; then restart after.

  • My iphoto is not working, what should I do?

Hello, my iphoto is not working, i´ve tried everything that my mac ask for but it still isn´t working.

    Yvette,
please tell as in more detail, in what way iPhoto is not working. So it is hard to guess, what might be going on.
First of all - what version of iPhoto. and what version of the Operating System?
In what way does it not work? Does it not launch? Does it crash? Unexpected results?
    Are there any error messages?
Is this a new problem or your first try at running and installing iPhoto?
What were you doing, when the problem started? Importing photos? Upgrading the program?
Have tried anything already to troubleshoot the problem?
    Regards

  • Satellite U400 - the webcam does not work anymore

Hello guys here is my sudden probloema!
About a year ago I purchased a laptop
    TOSHIBA - Satellite U400
with s.o. WinVista 32bit and with integrated webcam chicony etc. ....
For a year, everything worked correctly, but for some days now, the webcam does not work anymore.
As soon as I try to open it, a message of management software cam that says "Webcam driver open fail, please restart or computer room"
I tried to do it all: aggioronato and downloaded the drivers from toshiba, uninstalled the program and re installed the webcam ....! updated bios notebook ....! useless!
the strange thing .. well that going into device manager ... the webcam is not there ....! but if the launch seems to open just then check quell caz ... Warning!!
    Gan you help me?
    Graziee

Are you familiar and comfortable with LINUX LIVE bootable discs to load an alternative operating system with unobtrusive but extensive Toshiba device support so you can determine if your webcam hardware is ruined or if the problem is software and possibly solved reinstalling Windows ?
At this point, you're pondering less time consuming but more expensive choices such as buying another web cam, or another computer and you might be temporarily borrowing someone else's web cam / using a non preferred spare web cam that isn't optimal for your needs.
Continuously downloading software, registry cleaners, and repeatedly reinstalling drivers will eventually ruin your Windows installation and consume more time than you've wasted so far and still doesn't guarantee to fix your malfunction.
