The iPod "iHazen" cannot be synced. You do not have enough access....

privileges for this operation."
When I attempt to plug my iPod into my macbook, it begins syncing then this happens:
First, iTunes tells me the default "It could damage your ipod to disconnect it without ejecting it" message.
Then I get:
"The iPod "iHazen" cannot be synced. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation."
I click ok. I then get :
"Attempting to copy to the disk "iPod" failed. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation"
In small print it says:
"iTunes could not save to your Music Folder because you do not have write access. Check the permissions on your music folder and the folders in your Music Folder, then try copying this file again"
Basically, I've tried messing around with the Permissions on a bunch of folders, I've lurked google, and multiple forums including this one for an answer. One had something to do with iPhoto, but my iPod does not even sync my photos. I've obviously tried restoring the iPod, and reinstalling iTunes...
so if anyone, has any other types of ideas.. I'd love to hear them.
Apparently this happens to every type of iPod, including iPhones... and no one has a solution. Music won't even stay on my ipod after it syncs like a gig and half. It doesn't even stop at a certain location every time. I've deleted the files it stops on to no avail.
Please help

I've been having the same problem! It's so frustrating!!
Mine was starting to sync, then i got the same messages about "not enough access privileges" but i also got a message that said I improperly removed the device -which i didn't- and that has been giving me a lot of problems, like my ipod freezing and having to just take it out, reset it and reboot computor. The last time I tried it it would start syncing but take FOREVER , like get stuck on one thing.
I, as well, have tried almost everything: rebooting computer, uninstalling & reinstalling itunes, restoring and resetting ipod to factory settings (multiple times!), making sure ipod is fully charged, enabling disk use, checking and changing ALL the permissions and applying to all enclosed fields, installing and updating all new software, repaired disk utilities...I don't know!!!
I think i will try what manbartlett suggested about enabling disk use AND putting ipod into disk mode and then verify/repair? maybe try another USB cord as well.
I'm just not sure if its my computor and the application and files or if its just the ipod itself...
I've tried calling the apple hot-line but was so frustrated because the connection was muffled and the person was foreign and no offense but it kind of makes it hard to understand!!
Did doing all that help at least for a while?
any more help would be awesome!

  • IPod cannot be synced You do not have enough access for this operation

    Hi,
We have one computer. My daughter & I have our own seperate user accounts via Vista through which we each have our own ITune accounts. ITunes music appears to be filed through C>User>Music>ITunes/ITunes Music (User being both myself & my daughter).
I have tried copying music from User Me to User daughter, but I keep getting the following message: -
*The User Ipod cannot be synced. You do not have enough access priviledges for this operation.*
Can anyone help me please? The music is legitimate either from ITunes or other audio CD's.
An idiots guide to correcting this would be appreciated.
    Thx again

Are you trying to use two itunes libraries on one iPod? If I'm not mistaken, you can't do this. You can try adding the songs from her library to yours and then syncing. It's just a guess so I may be completely wrong. There may already be a thread that addresses this so if you haven't tried already you should do a search to see if anyone else has already covered this topic.

  • I am trying to synced my iphone but I get an error message "the iphone cannot be synced you do not have enough access privileges for this operation"

I have just installed itune on a windows 8 OS and am am trying to sync my iphone but it cannot import photos and come up with the error message "you do not have enough access privileges for this operation"

    Hey there Opal4,
It sounds like you are unable to use iTunes due to this error message about not having enough access privileges. According to the following article you may need to change the permissions on the file directly:
These messages occur if permissions are incorrect on your designated music folder or on a folder inside your designated music folder. Permissions are settings that determine who can read, write to, or execute a file or folder on your computer. Every file and folder on your hard disk has an associated set of permissions.
Example: If permissions are correct on your Music folder, but incorrect on the U2 folder inside your Music folder, you would be able to add other music to your iTunes library, but not that new U2 album.

  • The iphone cannot be synced. you do not have enough access privileges for this operation

The iPhone"Kyle's iPhone" cannot be synced. You do not have enought access privileges for this opperation. what do i do?

    Thank you.
I actually figured it out a while ago.
Turns out it is not an issue with the iPhone or iTunes.
By process of elimination I deduced it could be a permissions issue with the hard drive and/or folder that holds the contents of my Music Library.
For example, if the "Sharing & Permissions" settings (found in the "Get Info" Window) are set to "Read Only" on the internal or external drive that contains your Music Library for iTunes then you can not write to the disk. Therefore, you do not have privelges to make changes to the internal or external drive and you get the error message when you try to sync with the information on that drive.
Here's the kicker and million dollar questions:
How did the "Sharing & Permissions" settings get changed on my Hard Drive without me doing it?
Why did my iPhone sync fine yesterday and suddenly today the Hard Drive is doing this?
I have to set all priveleges to all drives to "Read & Write" and that just doesn't seem very secure to me.

See this article about troubleshooting the error message regarding access privelages.  It may be preventing your iTunes library from being able to save/retain music you have recently imported to it, which may explain why no new content is being added to your device.

If you still want to sync your photos try this instead:
    1. Go to the Pictures folder in the Finder window (Pictures usually appears under Favorites in the sidebar of the Finder window)
    2. **Locate the iPhoto Library file and Right click on the file and select Show Package Contents.
    3. Locate the iPod Photo Cache folder and delete it.
    4. Try the sync process again, it should work.
** Sometimes the iPod Photo Cache folder is simply in the Pictures folder and step 2 is not necessary

  • "The iTunes library file cannot be saved. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation."

keep getting       '' the itunes library file cannot be saved. you do not have enough access privledges''  when ever i try to add or change my library, why? have tried  several suggestions on the internet to stop this from happening but with no success. i am running windows 7. has started happening since installing new security software. would this have anything to do with this problem? any suggestions

The location of the iTunes Library file may be read-only or owned by a different user.
    Default locations:
    XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<login>\My Documents\My Music\iTunes
    Vista: C:\Users\<login>\Music\iTunes
    Windows 7: C:\Users\My Music\itunes
Right click the iTunes folder and choose Properties
Look at the Attributes and see if Read-Only is checked.
Uncheck it and click OK, at the apply to all subfolders and files prompt, make sure all subfolders and files is selected and click OK.
If your iTunes library saves now you are done.
If it does not you will need to try on each directory above the iTunes directory.
Of course if you are not using the default locations you'll have to alter the path to the one you find in iTunes Edit->Preferences, Advanced tab.

  • Itunes library cannot be saved. you do not have enough access privileges for this operation - error message

I keep getting this message.  It just suddenly started happening!

Actually, yes I used to have MS Antispyware installed, but now I have uninstalled it and upgraded to the Windows Defender program, which was supposed to be a replacement.
    good lord.
okay, we would get some reports of people getting an "you don't have enough access privileges" message with regard to setting itunes as the default music player if they had MS Antispyware beta running during an itunes install.
let's try an experiment. try switching Windows Defender off prior to opening itunes.
do you still get the access privileges error message?

  • Ipod cannot be updated, you do not have enough access privileges

    Hi
My son just got a new 2nd gen ipod nano 4GB. I have OSX 10.3.9, iTunes 7 and have updated the ipod software. It seems to sync with his playlists but comes up with the above error which seems to go away when I click th OK button, then it continues to update. Trouble is you can't leave it to update because you keep having to click OK to get rid of the message. Each user on the mac has full read and write access to the itunes music folder in the shared users home/itunes music folder.
    Any ideas would be great.
    Thanks
    Ian

Use the instructions in this article to enable disk use for the iPod. Next, select the iPod's icon on your desktop and choose Get Info from the File menu. Under Ownership & Permissions, check the box to ignore ownership on this volume, and try syncing the iPod again. This box will not appear if you are using a PC formatted iPod, as the FAT32 format used by these does not support permissions.

  • TS4062 This iPhone cannot be synched. You do not have enough access privledges for this operation.

I have installed the latest version of iTunes on a new computer and want to sync my phone on it. I receive this message when trying to sync. I have tried unchecking sync photos but still no luck. Thanks

Try creating a folder in a different location (outside of the Pictures library such as on your desktop), copying the pictures you want to sync to this folder, then syncing this folder to your phone by selecting to do so on the Photos tab of your iTune sync settings.  If you still get this error try disabling your anti-virus software and syncing. If still having problems try deleting the iPod Photo Cache folder, usually located in your Pictures library.

Hi.  I moved my iTunes library into a shared folder so both my wife and I can have separate iTunes libraries using the same music files.  Everything has been fine until tonight when she received the above referenced error when trying to sync after downloading the newest iPhone update.
We're running OS X Lion.  My phone works perfectly but hers is not.  I've tried the few fixes I could find.  Ran disk utility and repaired permissions after making sure that the music folder (and enclosed folders) were granted to her and me.
Any suggestions?  I've been trying everything I could find online to no avail.

try the steps in this support article.
