The Ipod Keeps Posting Do Not Disconnect

Hey,
I posted a problem, but no help. Now the I did the 5R's and now the Ipod Screen just reads; Do Not Disconnect for about 45 minutes, and is getting warm from the back (where the serial is located?) Is that good??? PLEASE HELP!!! I have been up for hours!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have a PC and I am using Windows XP.

Hello, I just had that same problem. I searched around in the previous posts and I found a solution.
In Itunes, go to your Ipod preferences.Make sure that your 'enable disk use' is not clicked...hopefully that will help =S because i did for me.

  • My Ipod keeps saying "Do not disconnect" and the update ipod is not working

    Hi,
I just got my ipod nano a couple of days ago and after loading the itunes and then plugging in the ipod i unplugged it when it said do not disconnect without thinking. Now when i plug in my nano it keeps saying do not disconnect and although the ipod symbol appears on the itunes, no instructions have popped up to explain how the music transfers even though it says it in the booklet and when i click file the update ipod button isn't clickable. I'm just wondering if there's anything i could do

    Thank you

  • IPod keeps showing "do not disconnect"

when i connect my iPod to the computer, it shows "do not disconnect"
but after im done updating my iPod, it suppose to show "ok to disconnect", but all it does is flashing the stop sign and telling me "do not disconnect".
it only stops when i disconnect it from the computer...
    .help needed......thanks

''does it mean that i can't use my ipod as a hard disk if i uncheck "enable disk use" ?''
Yes. You must have the box checked to use iPod as a hard disk, and always unmount/eject iPod before unplugging it.
'' don't like to update my ipod because the process restores everything in my ipod''
If you choose to restore the iPod, all data is lost, but just by updating the iPod, all of your data stays on the iPod.
Make sure you have the latest iPod Updater

  • My ipod keeps blinking "do not disconnect"

when i plugged my ipod in this morning it said the usual do not disconnect... but then it didnt register onto itunes so i unplugged it and the message stayed up and is still there... its been blinking for five minutes now and its unplugged... please help me

    Hi smpneedshelp,
Have you tried resetting your iPod? To reset an iPod with a clickwheel:
First, toggle your iPod's "Hold" switch back and forth a couple of times. (be sure to leave it on the white side of the switch, which is the Off position)
Then, press and hold the Menu and Select (center) buttons together for 5-10 seconds.
You might need to try this several times. For more effect, connect your iPod to a power source (a wall charger would be preferrable) while you're resetting it.
Also, you might want to check out the rest of these five iPod troubleshooting steps, here

    Any success after trying that?

  • Used IPod Updater - IPod keeps saying Do Not Disconnect

I had to restore my IPod because of an issue with it. Now when I plug the IPod into my computer it says I need to use the IPod Updater to update my software. I did this last nite at 6 PM and it still says Do Not Disconnect. It has been almost 12 hrs. Help! I would like to use it on my business trip coming up.

Updating the iPod software shouldn’t take any longer than a few minutes.
First of all, try clicking on the little x in the top corner, which might take you to the next stage in the process. Sometimes it gets stuck.
If this doesn’t work, shut down the computer, disconnect the iPod, restart the computer, run the updater again, and connect the iPod when prompted.

  • Nano keeps saying "do not disconnect"

I have up loaded songs and my itunes recognizes my nano just fine but everytime I plug it in it just keeps saying "do not disconnect" and it never goes away. Even after it syncs and the battery is completely charged. I don't know if maybe I'm doing something wrong or even hurting my ipod.
    Please help.

Have a look in "My Computer" and see if it is listing your iPod in there. Alternatively try using the "Safely Remove Hardware" function on Windows. That should disconnect the iPod and allow you to unplug it.
To find iPod options, in iTunes click on "EDIT" then "PREFERENCES" then "iPod" then "Music" You should have a list of options:-
Automatically update all songs and playlists
    Automatically update selected playlists only
    Manually manage songs and playlists
If the third option is checked then it will not disconnect automatically.
Lower down the page are more options
    Only update checked songs
Open iTunes when this iPod is connected
    Enable disk use
Display album artwork on your iPod
If "Enable disk use" is checked, then again it will not disconnect automatically.
To manually disconnect, right click on your iPod's name and then left click on eject.
If that lot doesn't work, then that is the limit of my expertise.

  • Why Does It Keep Saying Do Not Disconnect

Man every time i plug this into the usb on the computer it says do not disconnect and keeps blinking...i cant do anything else with the Ipod unless i update it in itunes or restart my computer. how can i fix this without having to open itunes to update or restart the computer...it used to do it that way

It says that became it could loose your files if you dont eject the ipod properly when you plug in your ipod in the task bar in the bottom right corner there should be something that says something like safely remove hardware click on that and it will allow you to stop data flow and it should take the message off the screen

  • Keeps showing Do Not Disconnect never goes away

I have a older ipod not sure what it is actully called it is slim and black and 4GB it is not working when I plug it into the computer it just keeps showing Do Not Disconnect and it never goes away.

Hi Trudy...I had same prob before and you need to download apple's itunes software to be able to access or listen to your ipod...ok good luck!

  • IPod stuck in "Do Not Disconnect"

My computer locked up during update, and I had to reboot. However, my iPod is now stuck for the past hour in "Do Not Disconnect".
Anyone got some suggestions to free the iPod from this lockup?

I've been having sorta the same problem. When I'm finished with an sync of the iPod, the Do Not Disconnect stays on and on and on, and finally, after several minutes, allows me to disconnect. (And yes, I have it set to Automatic. If you set the iPod to manual, you have to manually "eject" it to disconnect.)
Odd, I wonder if others are having this problem? Another issue might be the fact that it happens on USB 1.1.

  • My ipod touch 4g is stuck in recovery mode after attempting to update to iOS 5. My computer is registering the ipod however itunes is not. Nothing ive tried has made it come up in itunes to let me restore. I've done the basics. Please help

My computer is registering the ipod however itunes is not. Nothing ive tried has made it come up in itunes to let me restore. I've done the basics (i.e multiple computer restarts, switching USB ports, fresh install of itunes. I've checked the forums and everything I've found has involved things that I have been unable to do involving the itunes restore. Please save my ipod from a hammer.

    You can try 2 things:
Restart your iPod by - Holding the Power and Home buttons until you see the Apple logo.
Put your iPod in DFU and restore - Hold the Power and Home until the screen goes black, wait about 2 seconds, release the power button but keep holding the home for 15 seconds, then on iTunes, Restore and Update.

  • Every time i try to sync my 4th gen ipod touch itunes won't recognise it and the ipod keeps beeping - is there anything I can do?

This is really frustrating.  Every time i try to sync my 4th gen ipod touch itunes won't recognise it and the ipod keeps beeping - is there anything I can do? I've tried using different cables. Itunes works fine with my family members ipod's & iphones...

The best way to manage your music when you have multiple iPods is to change the settings under "Options" so that you manually manage your music instead of it doing an automatic synch each time you connect.  To add only the songs you want, highlight them and then "click and drag" them to your iPod.  This way none of your daughter's music gets added and you're not in danger of deleting your playlist as well.  It will show you how many songs you've added and you can then click on your iPod to verify.  To delete her songs off your iPod now, click on the music tab under your iPod so show everything you have stored.  Find those songs you want to delete, click on them to highlight then go up to the Edit window and click delete. This will erase them off your iPod but be careful when you highlight.  I did that and then had to reload a cd on my boyfriend's, lol. hope this helps
