The iPod updates, but my ratings aren't coming over to to iTunes?
Sorry if this is redundant, but I've not seen a post on this. My iPod still updates new songs I've put in iTunes, but my song ratings and my number of times a song has been played aren't updating in iTunes. This never was a problem, so I'm not sure what's going on. Maybe there's a setting I tripped that I can't seem to find now. Any help would be great.

I don't suppose you have any other ideas? I have 13,000 songs on my iPod, but if you think Resetting it might be the best bet, then I suppose this is what I'll have to do. I just didn't want to do that (for it takes HOURS AND HOURS) to redo, if it was just a setting I needed to change.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

To restore from backup see:

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode. -

iTunes suggested to upgrade iOS for my iPodtouch but couldn't upgrade and asks to restore the iPod. But it doesn't restore also and gives error (1). Pl help.

I'm having trouble using the Ipod Updater
Itunes is not recognizing my ipod. I was told by the apple support to download the Ipod Updater and restore my factory settings. I downloaded the Ipod Updater as instructed, but when I go to open the program is keeps saying "Error reading setup initializing file".

Oh look a 'search' function on the iPod Touch, but not on our iPhones. And we had a search all along on our iPhones, except only in the Google Maps prog.
What the _?the search in safari searches the net, not the 100's of addresses, calendar entries, emails and notes on the iPhone. Any smartphone or phone billed and priced as a smartphone should do this. There should be a sense of urgency to address this one would think. Josh, we have received maybe three software updates now.

the podcasts that I have subscribed to via itunes have stopped downloading/syncing. I see new podcasts on the podcasts website but they are not listed on my list of itunes podcasts, nor do they show up when I sync to an iPod. any ideas, thanks joanlvh

I have an iPod Touch and an iPad4. iTunes recognises both items and lets me work with the iPod Touch but won't work with the iPad. In fact iTunes does not respond to clicking on anything in the iPad window even though it knows that it's connected. Any ideas?

I performed a software update and the system is installing an update but it has been running for over 24hrs and keeps saying "This may take a few minutes, don't shut down your computer" Can anyone help?
Hello cor-el, thanks for your reply. I changed my settings for downloads to desktop and it has appeared on there. When I double click I am asked which program I want to open file. I click firefox and another box "opening install" says I have chosen to open the file which is an application and do I want to save it. This is the only real option so I press save file. I get a box saying this is an executable file which may contain viruses - do you want to run. I press ok and the final box showing C drive file name and desktop appears stating application not found.
This happens the same whenever I try to install.
To my untrained eye the application is not being recognised as an application and I cannot work out how to get it to do that.
My plugin is still showing as out of date.
Is there anything you could suggest. Thanks for your time. -
My computer (Win 7) recognises my ipod but when Itunes is automatically started the ipod is removed from "my Computer" and is not recognised in itunes, my device manager states he device is being "uninstalled by window" error 21, what is happpening.
Are you plugging the iPod into a high powered USB 2.0 port on the back of your PC? Have you tried a different USB cable?
What happens if you try to reset the device with it still connected to the PC?

1) From your OLD computer...
Copy your ENTIRE iTunes FOLDER to an External Drive... and then from the External Drive to your New Computer..

When I try to open the iphoto it keeps on asking for the software update, but when I click on the software update it says that all the software in the computer are up to date. I still cant open the iphoto, what should I do?
How old is your Mac? If it's very recent you need to update via the App Store
If you purchased at the App Store you need to update via the App Store
Otherwise you update via Softare Update
If you have moved iPhoto from the default location (i.e. into a Folder) then the updater won't find it. Move it back.
If you have renamed iPhoto, the updater won't find it. Change it back.
