keep getting '' the itunes library file cannot be saved. you do not have enough access privledges'' when ever i try to add or change my library, why? have tried several suggestions on the internet to stop this from happening but with no success. i am running windows 7. has started happening since installing new security software. would this have anything to do with this problem? any suggestions
The location of the iTunes Library file may be read-only or owned by a different user.
Default locations:
XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<login>\My Documents\My Music\iTunes
Vista: C:\Users\<login>\Music\iTunes
Windows 7: C:\Users\My Music\itunes
Right click the iTunes folder and choose Properties
Look at the Attributes and see if Read-Only is checked.
Uncheck it and click OK, at the apply to all subfolders and files prompt, make sure all subfolders and files is selected and click OK.
If your iTunes library saves now you are done.
If it does not you will need to try on each directory above the iTunes directory.
Of course if you are not using the default locations you'll have to alter the path to the one you find in iTunes Edit->Preferences, Advanced tab. -
A window keeps appearing stating " The iTunes Library cannot be saved. You do not have enough privilages for this operation". New purchases and CD down loads are able to be saved to my iPod but not to my PC?

I get this message what does it mean?
"the itunes library file cannot be saved. you do not have enough access privileges for this operation"You need to have enough rights to write to the My Music folder.
Most likely, your My Documents folder or My Music folder is missing or broken. Create the My Music folder in your My Documents, if it's not there, then use TweakUI to set it as the special My Music folder. -

Last night this started popping up "itunes library file cannot be saved. you do not have enough access priviledges for this operation.". Nothing in my system or in itunes has changed. Anyone know what would cause this? Is it safe to import music into itunes at the moment? Will things not be saved to the library?
Still not the problem. Tracks are imported by itunes. Tracks are save to HD. Tracks show up in itues library. Close itunes... tracks still on HD, but not in library. No security changes have been made. This is a 500GB HD that is over half full music , all in my itunes library, and now for some reason itunes cannot associate with these new files. No updates have happened, I've rolled back to a system point predating my problem, problem still there.

"The iTunes Library file cannot be saved. you do not have. You do not have
when adding songs to the library, I receive this message
""The iTunes Library file cannot be saved. you do not have. You do not have enough access priviledges for this operations"
Any tips? Thanks for your answer. I will try to force my login as Administrator by entering in Safemode. However, I'm running a Windows Based system, and the only user in my machine is mine, and it have been defined it as Administrator, so I don't expect a different behavior if i force the administrator by Safe mode.
will let you know.
Any other idea?
Does Itunes generate a Log or something that I can review and find details about that error message? -
iPod Classic 80GB. Message reads ' iTunes library cannot be saved you do not have enough access privileges for this operation'. It says it has synced but it hasn't. Please help, I am not very tech minded.
See this article about troubleshooting the error message regarding access privelages. It may be preventing your iTunes library from being able to save/retain music you have recently imported to it, which may explain why no new content is being added to your device.

I keep getting this message. It just suddenly started happening!
Actually, yes I used to have MS Antispyware installed, but now I have uninstalled it and upgraded to the Windows Defender program, which was supposed to be a replacement.
good lord.
okay, we would get some reports of people getting an "you don't have enough access privileges" message with regard to setting itunes as the default music player if they had MS Antispyware beta running during an itunes install.
let's try an experiment. try switching Windows Defender off prior to opening itunes.
do you still get the access privileges error message?

I have just installed itune on a windows 8 OS and am am trying to sync my iphone but it cannot import photos and come up with the error message "you do not have enough access privileges for this operation"
Hey there Opal4,
It sounds like you are unable to use iTunes due to this error message about not having enough access privileges. According to the following article you may need to change the permissions on the file directly:
These messages occur if permissions are incorrect on your designated music folder or on a folder inside your designated music folder. Permissions are settings that determine who can read, write to, or execute a file or folder on your computer. Every file and folder on your hard disk has an associated set of permissions.
Example: If permissions are correct on your Music folder, but incorrect on the U2 folder inside your Music folder, you would be able to add other music to your iTunes library, but not that new U2 album.

The iphone cannot be synced. you do not have enough access privileges for this operation
The iPhone"Kyle's iPhone" cannot be synced. You do not have enought access privileges for this opperation. what do i do?
Thank you.
I actually figured it out a while ago.
Turns out it is not an issue with the iPhone or iTunes.
By process of elimination I deduced it could be a permissions issue with the hard drive and/or folder that holds the contents of my Music Library.
For example, if the "Sharing & Permissions" settings (found in the "Get Info" Window) are set to "Read Only" on the internal or external drive that contains your Music Library for iTunes then you can not write to the disk. Therefore, you do not have privelges to make changes to the internal or external drive and you get the error message when you try to sync with the information on that drive.
Here's the kicker and million dollar questions:
How did the "Sharing & Permissions" settings get changed on my Hard Drive without me doing it?
Why did my iPhone sync fine yesterday and suddenly today the Hard Drive is doing this?
I have to set all priveleges to all drives to "Read & Write" and that just doesn't seem very secure to me. -
I'm trying to sync my iPhone 4s to my Mac iTunes. My whole libary: music, movies, etc is only 26 gb but when I press the sync button I am prompted that I do not have enough space I need an extre 22 gb. So I thought if I were to restore it, it would help, but yet I am prompted with this message. I am just running into one wall after another and I need some help.
