The keyboard and the TouchPad stopped working!
I've tried everything! In the bios setup (f2) the keyboard works! I tested the keyboard and touchpad using the rescue and recovery CD and functioned! Is not a physical problem because I put a HD from another T61 and both peripherals are working again! So I think the problem is in the operating system Vista 32bits. Has anyone experienced this? thank you

Hi, Rabbitvix
I haven't experienced this issue, but the fact that the keyboard works in BIOS but not in the OS indicates a software issue, not hardware. I would recommend booting the machine in Safe Mode to see if this helps. If the TouchPad and the keyboard resume functioning in Safe Mode, then we may be able to solve this issue by removing a driver.
To boot into Safe Mode in Windows Vista:
Start the computer from cold boot.
When the splash screen appears (says "Lenovo) being tapping F8 repeatedly.
Continue tapping F8 until a menu appears.
Select Safe Mode.
Hit Enter.
The computer should now boot to Safe Mode.
Also, one final question: If you plug in an external mouse, does this function well, or does it experience problems as well?
Best of luck,
Adam

Keyboard and trackpad have stopped working
Hi there
My girlfriend and I have 3 yr old MBP's and her keyboard and trackpad have stopped working. She can plug in an external USB mouse and it moves around, but she can't type her password into the log in. hence she's stuck.
We have tried powering down and up 3 times, even taken out the battery.
Can anyone suggest help?
Thanks RobShe needs a new top case. On older systems, the keyboard, trackpad, and even power button are all controlled via a single cable. Odds are, if you wait long enough, the power button will stop working too.
I'd estimate the repair cost at probably around $250-$300, so she might just want to be looking for a new laptop. You can also hit ebay and craigslist to see what you can find, just be careful with the screws for the top case. You get the wrong screw in a couple of the holes, they will never come back out until you break something. -
Keyboard and Trackpad just stopped working completely
Hi, I'm on a MBP 2.4 GHz running 10.4.11. Beginning yesterday my keyboard and mouse completely stopped working. This happened twice. The first time I got them working again with a hard shut down, the second time I got them working by closing the screen, putting the computer in standby. When I opened the thing back up, everythign was working.
Today, though, when the keyboard and trackpad quit, I've been unable to get them working again.
My problem is similar to the ones experienced here by MBP 2.4 and MB Air owners:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7194888
With the difference being that I'm on Tiger, not Leopard and I can't get the key or pad to respond at all. The solutions offered at that thread don't work for me.
I've plugged in an external keyboard and mouse and those work fine.
Any help you can offer is appreciated.
Luke BaumgartenRelated to the keyboard and mouse or trackpad not working, I've found of late that the whole lot freeze up and that wretched spinning timer takes over ad infinitum. Only way out is to hold pwr button the customary 6-8 seconds, then re-start with pwr/option.
Problem could be related to (Apple) upgrades as it's after a new one that this problem creeps in.
Makes me want to either revert to Factory settings or, Heaven forbid, give this MacBook Pro the float test and go back to Microsoft or even dig out the old steam typewriter.
The latter may be the best option - my life has definitely NOT improved since I invested in this heap of junk and the almost daily offerings of wonderful software by Apple are now set up for Spam, they're such a waste of time...
So, that's my Sunday moan.
If I leave this thing alone while I make a cup of tea I'll find it frozen again by the time I come back - any help on this from anyone??? (Steam being a bit pricey these days)

Yoga Keyboard and touch pad stop working...
I just received my new Yoga and have noticed a very annoying glitch. The keyboard and touchpad stop working and the only way to get them back is by closing the lid and opening it again. It seems to do it when I use the touchscreen while in the "laptop" position. Any suggestions? I am curious if it is a defect or if I am turning them off some how.
Help!Has anyone ever had their keyboard and touchpad randomly become unresponsive? I've had the machine for two days now without issue. In the last hour though this has happened three times. Putting the machine to sleep using the power button and waking it back up brings them back to life. Is this a driver issue, or? When this happens the touchscreen still operates normally.

Monitor, Keyboard and Mouse sometimes stop Working
I'm having an issue with my computer, it is a new build on a MSI 890FXA-GD65 motherboard. Sometimes randomly while i play a game, my monitor goes to sleep and wont wake up (monitor is connected via VGA port to my Radeon HD 5670 GPU), my keyboard and mouse turn off(both usb, mouse is Logitech, the red light on the bottom turns off), the computer still runs all the lights are on. Also, the front panel reset and power buttons wont work, the only way to shut it off is by the power switch on my power supply. Any ideas as to what might be the problem?

PS/2 keyboard and mouse suddenly stop working
This problem only started happening today (it occurred twice). My keyboard and mouse suddenly become unresponsive after a few hours of use, yet everything else seems to be working (video kept playing). I plugged in a USB mouse and it worked fine, so I could reboot.
Sorry, just noticed the problem is already being discussed in another thread: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=43932

My keyboard and trackpad mysteriously stopped working in Windows 7 Professional.
This has happened many times, and every time I have to resort to re-installing windows; I want to avoid this hassle. This usually occurs after an update or forced reboot.

Help! they keyboard and mouse have stopped working on my iMac. I had adjusted the universal access features for my mother who is legally blind to try the Voice Over features on my iMac and I thought that I hadn't reset something correctly when the keyboard would not let me type an e-mail this morning. Now, not only does the keyboard not work, but the mouse is not responding. I have a Pages document open and am unable to type or click anything in it, the pages menu, or anything on the desktop. when I move the cursor over the menu options or across the desktop icons on the bottom of the screen, where I should be getting an arrow to select the items I get the bar cursor like you get when you are typing something. What did I do and how do I fix it!
By the way, the keyboard and mouse do not show up in the system preferences either. And this is a 1.83GhZ dual core, white Macbook if it makes a difference.

Keyboard and trackpad does not work.
Hey guys~
I have the late 2009 Unibody Macbook Pro and just yesterday both my keyboard and trackpad have stopped working. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this and know of a solution. I made upgrades to the macbook (added more memory and a better HD) but that was back 9 months ago. Ive tried reseting the PRAM but I can't because the keyboard just doesnt work at all. I had to run out and buy a temporary external keyboard to plug into the USB. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!I forgot to mention that my power button did work but everything else, keyboard and trackpad, didn't! Anyway, I shutdown my laptop, slept, and turned it back (in hopes that it might work instead of restarting it like before). Now my keyboard and trackpad works! Thank goodness! I was about to go to the Apple store upset too!

Windows 8.1 Onboard Keyboard and Touchpad Stopped Working.
After upgrading to Win 8.1 my keyboard and touchpad stopped working suddenly. They both worked fine for the entire Windows 8.0 release. When I upgraded to 8.1, they both worked for about 3 months. Then what started happening is the computer
would freeze during the startup process.
Now they both don't don't work. But a USB powered mouse works. So with a USB powered mouse and the on screen keyboard I have been troubleshooting. I have removed the drivers from the device manager, reinstalled the drivers, searched for
driver updates etc. Nothing works.
Can someone please point me in the right direction. PC is kind of useless at the moment.Hi,

I have a macmini on order, I wonder if I can pair the wireless apple keyboard and magic touchpad without using any other input devices, especially, since everything is brand new and not yet paired.
You may just want to save yourself any possible issues
by just hooking up a wired keyboard and mouse on first
start up. Any USB keyboard and mouse should work.
There have been many that have had problems on first boot
using the Bluetooth devices. -
The keyboard and mouse have stopped 'talking' to the computer - cursors do not move in response to mouse, right and left clicks do not register and typing does not happen.. Batteries have been replaced on both. The computer seems to be working normally in all other respects. The little green 'on' lights on both the mouse and keyboard light up for ~10 seconds, blink for about 20 seconds, and then go out. Computer shut down and restart did not change the situation. What's next?
Get a wired keyboard and mouse for times like these, also to perform at boot keyboard commands in emergencies.

User sip folder have manu Mailitem&username&.cache files until folder is full and Lync client stops working.
Hi,
You can try to change the Lync Profile name. After you do it, Lync will create a new Profile. The Lync Profile path is following:
%UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Lync
If the issue persists, please repair Office 2013 and then test again.
