The Lamp of My Display Doesn't Blink Anymore.

I use the PowerMac G5 Quad and the 20-Inch Apple Cinema display. My display lights up while the PowerMac sleep or shut down, but the lamp of the display doesn't blink anymore. Does anyone have any ideas? Please, help me.

I had been using it without connecting the USB and Firewire cables, but it had worked normally for several months. I have connected both of the cables to the Mac, and checked the checkbox of "Puts the system to sleep or wakes it" in the Display options in System Preferences, and now it blinks when it is sleeping.
But... it is a little strange compared to before... Do you think this is normal?

Hi. You might have a memory problem. With one or more of your ram being bad. If this is so you can try removing the ram one at a time and try to restart . You can also switch ram slots to make sure ifs not the ram slot. Before you do this try a pram reset. Command/Option/P/R holding down these keys while starting up for three chimes. If you are unable to remember your password, security questions, don’t have access to your rescue address or are unable to reset your password for whatever reason, your only option is to contact Apple ID Support, upon speaking to an operator you should explain that your problem is related to your Apple ID, this way you will not be charged for assistance, even if you don’t have an AppleCare plan.
You will need to show patience with the procedure and be prepared to demonstrate without question that the account belongs to you. Don’t expect access to be restored immediately and if you aren’t the owner of the Apple ID registered to the device the account won’t be reset.

However, from your discription, I suspect that something is broken. Maybe a dead battery. In that case. I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store and see what they say.

Most of the .mov and .AVI files doesn't play anymore with QT 7 or 10

I'm running OS 10.7.5 and most of the .mov files that were generated with Quicktime 7 doesn't play anymore, except in VLC.
I used QT7 because it can still crop and edit videos, instead of QT 10 that came with the system.
QT7 has a also a very nice feature that allow to reset the image ratio, which is sometime very usefull.
I shall say that videos came from a digital recorder I used to tape the TV and those files came as .AVI
Anyway, overnight (probably after an update of iTunes or any part of the system) QT 7 nor 10 can play those files anymore !
Each time I try to open a file with QT it says I need a codec, and leads to the DIVX download page, but installing this codec doesn't solve my problem.
QT7 was a very fine software and worked until now.
Why an update makes my system go backward ??!?
I'm a huge fan of Apple, but that is not acceptable !!!
It just makes me want to purchase on older mac and go back to 10.6 !!!

Satellite P100-119: display doesn`t work anymore

Hi all,
after resetting my notebook and installing the printer driver from the Epson homepage suddenly the graphic of my display was looking strange. I decided to start the laptop new. But then the display didn`t turn on either. Just the LED lights surrounding it were on but the display kept black.
Trying all to find a button for switching the display on and off brought the small result that the display worked again for a few days and then suddenly with a new start the same problem again. I decided to connect it with an external display and to open the BIOS. I managed to start the safe mode of windows and tried to renew all the drivers.
Suddenly the external display switched off and the laptop display switched on again. I restarted the laptop without external display and everything was ok - but just till the next day - now the problem is ongoing and I can just start with an external display in the safety mode.
Maybe one of you knows about the problem or can even help me. I would bring it to a service but at the moment I don`t have that much money for buying a new one or even repair it. At least it would be good to know in case what the repair costs might be...

no, not on the notebook screen, just on the external display which i connected to the notebook. but when i want to start the laptop normal without external the display keeps black with the light at the edge of the screen.
And when I want to start it normal with the external diyplay, the external display suddenly turns off. It just works with the safety mode.

My ethernet port on the thunderbolt display doesn't work anymore.

I recently updated to 10.8.4 on a Mac book pro. I use it docked on a thunderbolt display.
The ethernet cable is plugged into the display.
Today I switch the computer on and the dot for ethernet remains orange with "etat inconnu". I tried to reboot, unplug the display nothing worked. I know the ethernet cable works fine.
Anyone has any idea?

You could try unplugging the TB display for a few seconds and then plug back in. If that does not work go to preferences, network and remove the ethernet display and then add the ethernet display (using the + at the bottom). See if that works. I had to do that on mine to fix a similar issue.

Why Detect Displays doesn't work anymore?

I use my PB to watch movies using my TV and the S-Video to RCA cable, but since the last upgrade 10.4.6 the Detect Displays option (in display menu bar AND preference pane) doesn't work.
The TV shows a dimmed image of what's suppose to show and sometimes it appears vertically distorted.
I disconnected the S-Video cable and restarted the PB but it still shows that "something" is connected to the s-video port.
Which files should I delete to "reset" video preferences?
UPDATE: PRAM reset didn't work...

Well, the cable can't be the problem, because the computer is "stuck" with a two monitor configuration, even without the cable plugged in, that's why im guessing there's some kind of switch (i hope) that i can reset so the mother board stops thinking i have another display plugged.... the second problem is that if i plug the s-video to rca cable (that came with the laptop) i can't get a clear tv signal from it... it's distorted.... i'll probably open up the computer and check the s-video port... wish me luck.

Mac book display doesn't work anymore

I normally use my mac book 2011 with an external display. However, for the past few days, the macbook display is not working. The computer boots up, but will only display on the external display with the lid closed. How do I fix this?

Are you referring to an F2 key on the MacBook? As in, "did I try brightening the MacBook display"?
If so, yes I have. If I. Completely darken (F1 key) then brighten the MacBook display using the F2 key, I get the same less-than-one-second result before screen blanking. The display is actually still there, but completely inlit.

Display doesn't work anymore on my Encore WT8-A

I have an Encore WT8-A-102 with Windows 8.1
One morning, when I tried to start it (not from standby/hibernation but normal start) nothing happend anymore. the display stayed black. only when I touched the windows button sometimes it vibrated.
I have one possible answer why this is happening. I used the SD-Card of the tablet to update the firmware of my audio player (Fiio X3). I had to put an *.fw file onto the SD-Card and after updating the player I put the card back into the tablet without deleting the file.
Is it possible that the tablet tried to boot from the SD-Card and run the firmware update which was not meant to be used for this device?
I didn't create a USB recovery stick...

If You have problem with enter to BIOS:
- go to page and download firmware
*https://support.toshiba.com/support/modelHome?freeText=1200007163* (if it is Your model)
- on PC download and install https://www.7-zip.org/ (or use PeaZip)
- unpack all files from OS2014095A_TC30678200D_1.60.exe (right mouse Button - extract to...) fo folder default folder OS2014095A_TC30678200D_1.60 or other name folder (use 7zip unpacker)
- unpack identically next file (in unpacked folder) *Malta_WinBios_1.60.exe* to tolder
- check file *Malta1.60.fd* and copy to SD card and boot (maybe flashed from SD)

Ok, I used to be able to open links up in a new Tab using my middle mouse button. However, I updated firefox with the automatic Updates on the 26th of October and now I no longer can open links with my middle mouse button. Why? I use this feature just about every time I go searching on the internet so I really would like it back. Urazurrutia which operating system are you using? I would recommend removing and reinstalling Photoshop to restore the application. What specific version of Photoshop are you facing difficulties with?
