The latest 4.1 update won't install

Every couple of days, the new updater.exe for Firefox automatically downloads and tries to install itself on my computer.
When I next start up Firefox, the prompt "We strongly recommend you install this new update as soon as possible" appears, I click next. However, all that happens is the message "Connecting to the update server ..." appears, and the program gets stuck in a loading loop. Nothing further ever happens.
This is problematic because Firefox is starting to get buggy (slow to load pages, occasionally timing out) and clearly needs to update, and I want to let it update, but for some reason it can't.

Hi Ian,
Probably b/c I hadn't thought of using the MA
I didn't realize one could move apps from machine to machine? That's pretty handy!
Any links you might have with instructions would be fantastic. I also tried the help section in Finder, but no information there for me
I've had the 2009 MP up and running for months so it's not a brand new machine to my studio.
Yes, the Aperture is in the top level with its original name.

  • Latest (October 2011) update won't install.

I have tried to carry out the latest update (14/10/11). It seemed to be working well, then the tv went blank and the white light at the front of the apple tv box started flashing rapidly. After a few minutes I got the 'connect to itunes' logo.
I've read somewhere I may have to use a micro usb and connect to itunes to do a restore. Any news from Apple on what is happening? Am I the only person experiencing this issue?
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Same problem.
I called Apple, and what they can offer are
    1. Use your own Micro USB (which I don't have, and I need to use my own money to buy one) to connect to iTunes;
    2. Use your own time and money to travel to Apple store, and let staff there help with it;
    3. USe your own time and money to travel to Fedex, and let them send to Apple to get a refurnished Apple TV.
    No other options.
Just curious how many people today are having this issue.
Apple, please do not disappoint us. Once is enough.

  • IPhoto 9.1 update won't install

I just bought a new MacBook Pro.  It came with iPhoto 11.  The iPhoto 9.1 update won't install.  It keeps saying that I need iPhoto 9.0 or greater, but I have iPhoto 11.  I have not moved iPhoto from its default location.  My computer is only 2 days old.  I've seen others with this problem, but no real solution.  Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks for your response TD, but this App, iPhoto 11 came already installed on my computer.  I registered my computer, but you can't register a product without a serial number.  I don't have the iPhoto 11 serial number because it came installed on my computer already.  I tried re-installing iPhoto 9.1 after registering my computer and got the same error message.  However, I did find out that I hae 90 days of complimentary phone support.  So I will be giving Apple a call.

    Hi
Thanks but I have tried doing the above - when I said 7 times I was modest, its more like 15 times.
And I am referring to the 5.1 software update. I dont have wifi so I guess I will have to try that seeing that my husband also has the same problem - he has also tried downloading several times. It always times out en says that the connection is lost but yet there are always an internet connection and a decent signal once it stopped. Think it said error 32052 or something!
I am disappointed because the update includes inprovement on the battery life - did you guys notice any difference?

  • After installing the latest itunes/quicktime update, I can no longer access the itunes store and my iphone does not complete syncing. What can I do to fix this?

After installing the latest itunes/quicktime update I can no longer acces the itunes store nad my iphone does not complete syncing. What can I do to fix this?  I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling itunes.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled windows updates. I have checked the firewall settings. what else?

The problem is with version 10.4.1.  I had to reload 10.3 to get it to work.  The recommendation from a previous poster worked for me.  Here was their list of steps:
    Go to Control Panel>Programs>Uninstall
    2.  Uninstall the following Apple programs in the following order:
         a. iTunes
         b. QuickTime
         c. Apple Software Update
         d. Apple Mobile Devices Support
         e. Bonjour
         f.  Apple Appllcation Support
    3.  Reboot PC
    4.  Find, Download and Install iTunes 10.3 (you can find it at FileHippo.com)
If you start iTunes now you will get an error message saying that the current iTunes library was created by a newer version of iTunes.  To correct this:
    5.  Go to your Music>iTunes folder and delete the "iTunes Library.itl" database file
    6.  Within this iTunes folder find and open the "Previous iTunes Libraries" folder and locate the most recently dated "iTunes Library (date).itl" database file.
    7.  Copy and Paste this file back into the iTunes folder
    8.  Rename this "iTunes Library (date).itl" file by removing the date.  It should say "iTunes Library.itl"
    9.  Reboot PC

I downloaded the latest iTunes software update and it properly installed.  But,  I cannot close the update window showing it was completed and the blue completion bar is full but cannot cancel or close it either.  Any ideas on how to clear that out and close the window.  Tried to quit on both the big window and the software update title in the menu bar.  No luck.

Tried that by shutting down via the power button only as the normal shutdown was nixed by the open window issue.  It did not help.  Found a very similar question in the discussions and it recommended "Force Quit".  That worked and the update works normal and the window is gone.  Thanks!

  • Just installed the latest iTunes software update and the extra images i had for my albums on iTunes have disappeared...Help?

Just installed the latest iTunes software update (iOS 5.0.1) on my MacBook Pro, and the extra images i had placed on my album covers in the selected item box have disappeared, leaving just one image per track. Any ideas on how to restore would be most appreciated...

Installing an iTunes update does not remove your media or personal files.
Are the files actually missing off the computer, if so, you have a serious computer issue... not a software update issue.
Regardless, use the backup of your media and other important files to put everything back.  You do have a backup, correct?

  • I'm having trouble with my computer, I boot it up and within a few minutes it freezes and I have to restart it, I tried updating it to the latest mavericks but it won't finish the installation it's stuck at the end, what can I do to fix this?

As stated I'm having trouble with my computer, I boot it up and within a few minutes it freezes and I have to restart it, I tried updating it to the latest mavericks but it won't finish the installation it's stuck at the end, what can I do to fix this? I need it for homework tonight.

    Crowntheme,
you can try this: boot your MacBook Pro into Recovery mode by holding down a Command key and the R key as it starts up. Once the Mac OS X Utilities menu appears, select Disk Utility. On the left-hand side of the Disk Utility window, select your internal disk’s boot partition (typically called “Macintosh HD”). On the right-hand side, press the Verify Disk button if it’s not greyed out; if it is greyed out, or if it reports that errors were found, press the Repair Disk button. Once the verification/repair is completed, exit Disk Utility and select Restart from the Apple menu to restart in normal mode. Does it still freeze after a few minutes?

It looks like you installed the Library Upgrader, but did not run it. It is installed in "Applications > Utilities". Launch this tool and click the "Choose Library" button to direct it to your iPhoto library.

  • Has any had difficulty downloading an installing the latest IPhone 4 update on ITunes?

When I try to install the latest IPhone 4 update in ITunes, it downloads the item but at the very end I get an error message telling me the server timed out and to check my internet connection.  I did all this and there are not internet connection issues.  I think I tried all the obvious solutions so far (e.g., I tried the process again, I closed the program and restarted it, rebooted the computer, I tried to "download only"), but the same problem keeps occuring.  Any one else run into this problem? or have a solution?
    Thanks.

Have you tried temporarily turning off your firewall and antivirus software until the download has completed ?

  • Have installed the latest Airport software update.  Still no wireless

I was hoping that Apple would fix the can not connect to wireless problem, I installed the latest airport software update but still have the same problem. 10.4 works great but 10.5 will not connect.

Mine is a long and sad story. I have ComCast cable connected from their modem to an Asanti 4 port router. Connections around our little office area are by ethernet. I then have one router port connected to an Apple snow airport. Out of the office area we use the wireless LAN. All of our PC laptops, our PC desk top and our MacBook Pro (running 10.4) will connect through the snow airport LAN when need-be. All of the aforementioned computers will connect to our city-wide free wireless network, Metro-fi Free. Everything works perfectly except my FW800 running 10.5. For now nothing is incripted. If I turn on my airport card I can see available 6 neighborhood wireless LANs, Metro-fi and the snow base station. I installed 10.4 in a separate HD and booted up. It connects perfectly which means my computer and airport card must be OK. The problem is in 10.5 for sure. I tried to check the update you are supposed to see when opening the airport utility but of course the utility says it can find no AirPort base station. I have reinstalled 10.5, run Diskwarrior and TechTool Pro and found no problems. If I did not have such a bunch of stuff in my system HD I would go back to 10.4. What have I overlooked??
