The latest update for Firefox 5.0 said that it would disable Avasti. I run Avasti as my antivirus software. Should I ignore this update? Any suggestions?

This warning appeared when I tried to do the update installation.

The [http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/ Adobe Flash Player] page refers to 10.1, but the full version details for the latest release is 10.1 r85 which is a security update. You can get it from the above link, or use the manual installers available from http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19166.html#main_ManualInstaller
You should not have to disable the Anti-virus software in order to install Flash, only do that if is is interfering with the installation.

Recently my IMac with osx 10.4.11 has been running extremely slow. It takes forever for Safari to switch screens. You can hear the computer constantly working. To the point where I have tried restarting.I have run Sophos antivirus software and have found nothing. Any suggestions?

First remove the antivirus software, it's possible that could be part of your problem! Slow Mac's can be caused by many different issues, including failing HD's, a HD that is too full (OS X really likes to have about 10-15% of the HD available), insufficient RAM, etc.. • Is 31.0 the latest version for Firefox for mac?

On my Mac, I click on Firefox and then About Firefox and find that I am running Firefox 31.0.
There is no indication whether this is last version or not.
Previously, I got some indication that I was not running the current version.
And I got a pop up box which showed that the computer was trying to connect to the Firefox
facility - I can 't remember the exact name - which would have - I believe - started the update
    process.
This pop up box ran for sometime and didn't seem to complete before it disappeared unretrievably
from the screen after I took some extraneous computer action.
    So... now I am wondering:
Do I have the latest Firefox installation or not?

Thanks Tyler for your helpful response.
I now have the current 37.0.1 version of Firefox.
What was happening - before - is that my computer was hanging at the step
of "connecting to the update server".
Even when I clicked on your link and then closed Firefox as I was directed.
What I had to do... and what worked... was not just closing Firefox but restarting my computer.
    Thanks once again.

  • Cannot load the Scrabble app for Facebook on my Mac laptop; was always glitchy, but now cannot load at all. Works fine on my PC, however - any suggestions?

Cannot load the Scrabble app for Facebook on my Mac; it starts, then I get this error message:
"FACEBOOK IS NOT RESPONDING. Facebook is taking longer than usual to respond. If this problem persists, refresh your browser or try again later."
I used this app for a few weeks on this machine, but now no amount of time and no number of refreshes will get the page to load. My ancient PC with Windows XP loads the app just fine, however - any ideas?
    Thanks!!

    Any error messages ?

  • Using the HTML Validator for Firefox, I have found that every page I open has errors, not just the ones I have designed; why?

Even using it on this page there are 5 errors geneated.

Is there something wrong? Am I using it incorrectly?

I checked and agree this page does not pass validation

error message says "the computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install windows, click "OK" to restart the computer, and then restart the installation." but when I restart the screen flashes and just brings me right back here

Safe boot should be an option as well as normal or without network
you could also try Windows DVD automatic repair, use last restore check point, make sure it had enough free space
also making a 2nd account and maybe use standard non-admin for general use
you installed a driver, or patch tuesday or your hibernation file used all the free space.

  • I have the latest version of Firefox but iCloud says my browser isn't supported.

Firefox says there are no updates available, but when I go to iCloud.com, I get a page saying my browser isn't supported and I should upgrade to the newest version. I can't upgrade my IE - the last time I did it messed up my computer so badly I had to revert to factory settings. Anyone else experiencing this? Any suggestions as to why iCloud isn't detecting my up-to-date Firefox browser?

There is one other thing about when I updated firefox.  It automatically disabled a bunch of add ons that were incompatible.  Other than that I don't know how.  I've given up on icloud all together now.
I just checked my plugins for firefox and they are all enabled now.
There is a selection to "check to see if your plugins are up to date" in the options/plugins in firefox and I did that during the install to also update plugins as well as to update firefox.  my version now says 7.0.1.  Look in help/about and see if this is what you have

  • After updating to the latest version of Firefox on my Mac there is no progress bar for the page load. I really miss this feature and can't seem to find a way to obtain it.

The page load progress bar that was on the lower right of the window is no longer there. After updating to the latest version of Firefox on my Mac there is no progress bar for the page load. I really miss this feature and can't seem to find a way to obtain it. The tab has a circular progress wheel but this is useless for determining a stuck or slow loading page.
PLEASE NOTE: I am typing this in from a Windows based work computer but am asking about my Apple MacBook Pro that i use at home.

Firefox 4 saves the previous session automatically, so there is no longer need for the dialog asking if you want to save the current session.<br />
You can use "Firefox > History > Restore Previous Session" to get the previous session at any time.<br />
There is also a "Restore Previous Session" button on the default <b>about:home</b> Home page.<br />
    Another possibility is to use:

  • The latest update for FireFox says it is not compatible with my Kaspersky anti-virus software. What's up with that?

The latest update attempt from FireFox has stated that it is not compatible with the Kasperskys' anti-virus 2012 software. When will FireFox be compatible?

Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac. There is a third party version of Firefox 4 that runs on OS X 10.4/10.5 and PPC Macs, for details see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox
If you prefer, you can get the latest version of Firefox 3.6 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
Mozilla are working to prevent Mac users with non-compatible systems from getting the notification about Firefox 4, and also not displaying the "Download Firefox 4" button on http://www.mozilla.com
For the full system requirements see http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/system-requirements.html

The best maintained PowerPC browser at the moment is TenFourFox:

  • While playing farmville i cannot open my buildings and such, i could before i got the latest update for firefox this morning

Prior to installing the latest update for Firefox this morning, all was well, but since that time, when I go to Farmville, it won't allow me to open my giftbox, barns, inventory, or bakery. It was fine until then. I tried Internet Explorer, (which I hate that browser with a passion) but it allowed me to do those things. I restarted and rebooted and it didn't help the problem. Is there anyway to undo ONLY the last update to Firefox?

  • How can I find the latest update for Firefox 5 without upgrading to Firefox 6.0?

I had the latest version of Firefox 5 getting automatically upgraded to Firefox 6.0, which disabled my Java 6.022 and 6.023 plugin. Since updating my Java is not an option, because then I can't access my bank account, I uninstalled Firefox 6.0 and installed Firefox 5.0. I quickly cancelled and disabled the auto-update. Now I have no idea if this is the oldest or the latest version of Firefox 5, because the auto-update doesn't let me choose the latest version of Firefox 5 instead of Firefox 6.0. Is there a way to do this manually?

That are Java Console extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) and not the Java plugin (Tools > Add-ons > Plugins).
You can uninstall and remove Java Console extensions, you do not need them to run Java applets.
    See:
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Java#Multiple_Java_Console_extensions
You can also disable the Java Quick Starter extension: Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions
    * Control Panel -> Java -> Advanced tab -> Miscellaneous -> Java Quick Starter (disable)

  • Firefox won't update - tho I have OSX 10.5.8 it keeps saying I have too old an OS. The auto-update for Firefox is greyed out. How can I update?

I have a Mac Powerbook G4, running OS X 10.5.8. I'm getting messages from Google that Firefox is an old version and needs updating - so I went to the Firefox website and the message said that "Unfortunately the latest version of Firefox isn't compatible with your computer's operating system. Learn more." When I click Learn More, it says that Firefox only works with OS X 10.5 and 10.6...The auto-update box for Firefox is greyed out and un-clickable in Firefox preferences, there's no manual download that I can find - how can I make Firefox recognize my OS and allow me to upgrade? Many thanks.

PPC Macs aren't compatible with Firefox 4.0 and later versions.
    For older Macs that aren't supported in Firefox 4 / 5 / 6, try TenFourFox for PowerPC's running Mac 10.4.11 & 10.5.8 . <br />
    http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/ <br />
    http://code.google.com/p/tenfourfox/downloads/list
    Or use Firefox 3.6.22. <br />

  • I get, You're not on the latest version of Firefox. Upgrade today to get the best of the Web! When I go to the update site it tells me that I have the latest version.

    I start the Firefox browser.
When the start page displays I get just below the Google search box:
You're not on the latest version of Firefox. Upgrade today to get the best of the Web!
Not unusual but when I go to the update site it searches for a minute and then tells me that I have the current version of the software.

If you use the www.google.com/firefox site as home page that previous Firefox 3 versions use as the home page then you can ignore the message about not using the latest Firefox version on that page.<br />
Google no longer seems to maintain that page.<br />
Current Firefox 4+ versions no longer use that Google website as the home page, but use the build-in about:home page as the home page.<br />
Google assumes that you use an older Firefox version if you still visit that site and warns you that you use an older Firefox version and suggests to update.<br />
You can use another page as the home page like about:home or www.google.com or www.google.com/ig (iGoogle).<br />

  • The other day I had downloaded the latest version of Firefox and now none of the icons for the different websites I normally go to are there?

As I said, the other day I had downloaded the latest version of Firefox and after doing so none of the icons for the different websites that normally go to are no longer there. Websites such as MSNBC, MSN, Most visited, that entire strip is no longer visible. I tired resetting Firefox and still nothing. Can anyone tell me how to get them to appear again? It's a hassle every time that I want to go to one of those sites I have to type it in the search bar, instead of just clicking on it as I did before. Please keep in mind if you answer, that I'm still learning about these things called computers and not very well versed in some of the things that you experts know:) Thanks

On Windows XP Firefox shows the menu bar by default and not the orange Firefox menu button that is shown when the menu bar is hidden.<br />
The menu bar is the toolbar at the top that shows menu items like File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, Help.<br />
You can press the F10 key or tap the Alt key to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily in case this bar is hidden (View > Toolbars or Firefox > Options).
The Navigation Toolbar shows the Back and forward button and the input field where you type the address of a site that you want to visit (aka location bar) and also has a search bar where you can type items that you want to look up with a search engine (Google).
