  • The latest version of Firefox has a compatability problem with the Reget download manger which means I can only download zipped files rather than large MOV or MKV files as could previously be done. Is there a solution to this issue?

As per above the Reget add on is now not compatible with Firefox's latest version. Is this something which Firefox is looking into? Is there a work around or is this up to Reget to remedy?

I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6.

  • I have tried to upload the latest version of Firefox 5 times - it says it has uploaded but really hasn't. Fooey.

Whatever - it isn't really uploaded -- I have restarted the computer too. I keep getting that warning - this is not the latest version of firefox. It worked fine on my PC.

Ok, let's just do this, it should get you up and running quickly.
Go to [http://www.getfirefox.com www.getfirefox.com]. Download Firefox 12 from here. Install it over your current Firefox. It should upgrade it to Firefox 12 and keep all your personal data and settings.

  • The other day I had downloaded the latest version of Firefox and now none of the icons for the different websites I normally go to are there?

As I said, the other day I had downloaded the latest version of Firefox and after doing so none of the icons for the different websites that normally go to are no longer there. Websites such as MSNBC, MSN, Most visited, that entire strip is no longer visible. I tired resetting Firefox and still nothing. Can anyone tell me how to get them to appear again? It's a hassle every time that I want to go to one of those sites I have to type it in the search bar, instead of just clicking on it as I did before. Please keep in mind if you answer, that I'm still learning about these things called computers and not very well versed in some of the things that you experts know:) Thanks

On Windows XP Firefox shows the menu bar by default and not the orange Firefox menu button that is shown when the menu bar is hidden.<br />
The menu bar is the toolbar at the top that shows menu items like File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, Help.<br />
You can press the F10 key or tap the Alt key to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily in case this bar is hidden (View > Toolbars or Firefox > Options).
The Navigation Toolbar shows the Back and forward button and the input field where you type the address of a site that you want to visit (aka location bar) and also has a search bar where you can type items that you want to look up with a search engine (Google).

  • After updating to the latest version of Firefox on my Mac there is no progress bar for the page load. I really miss this feature and can't seem to find a way to obtain it.

The page load progress bar that was on the lower right of the window is no longer there. After updating to the latest version of Firefox on my Mac there is no progress bar for the page load. I really miss this feature and can't seem to find a way to obtain it. The tab has a circular progress wheel but this is useless for determining a stuck or slow loading page.
PLEASE NOTE: I am typing this in from a Windows based work computer but am asking about my Apple MacBook Pro that i use at home.

Firefox 4 saves the previous session automatically, so there is no longer need for the dialog asking if you want to save the current session.<br />
You can use "Firefox > History > Restore Previous Session" to get the previous session at any time.<br />
There is also a "Restore Previous Session" button on the default <b>about:home</b> Home page.<br />
    Another possibility is to use:
    * [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Menu_differences Firefox (Tools) > Options] > General > Startup: "When Firefox Starts": "Show my windows and tabs from last time"

  • Where did Google Earth go when I upgraded to the latest version of Firefox?

I clicked the popup that upgraded to the latest version of Firefox - and clicked to give it permission to make changes to my computer - and my Google Earth was no longer there. I restored my computer to before I had made the Firefox changes and my Google Earth was there but I got a blank page when I tried to open Firefox. Then I re-downloaded Firefox and Google Earth is gone. I would like to have both. If I have to do without one I would give up Firefox and use Internet Explorer until the problem gets fixed.

When I drag messages from the Inbox to another folder for archiving, they don't move. This problem has only arisen since I updated to the latest version of Thunderbird.

I doubt it is a Norton Security problem. Maybe. I solved it by deleting the account and re-installing it.

  • I am having a problem viewing YouTube videos in the latest version of Firefox.

I'm on Firefox 34.0 on a Windows 7 laptop. Up until recently I had no trouble viewing videos on YouTube. I would enter "youtube.com" into the browser address and it would take me to http://youtube.com. But now it takes me to "http://m.youtube.com/?", which appears to be a mobile YouTube viewer. And when I try to open a video there I get this message:
"Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because one of the following protocols (rtsp) isn't associated with any program or is not allowed in this context."
This just started after the latest version of Firefox uploaded to my computer. Why can't I access the normal Windows version of YouTube anymore?

This problem has been fixed. I rebooted my laptop after clearing my Firefox cache and deleting all cookies. Once my laptop was rebooted, I opened Firefox and now I can access the regular YouTube site, not the mobile site.

  • I have the latest version of Firefox. How do I clear my personal info and then clear the cache?

I have the latest version of Firefox. It is: Firefox/3.6.13 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729).
I got a page that said I needed to clear my personal information, then clear my cache. It said I could do that in the "tools" menu. The "tools" menu has no such option.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

Thats' all well and good, but FIREFOX crashes when I click on those links. I'm not doing it again. Heck with it.
Am going to TRY and get my old version of FIREFOX back.
If it were not THIS problem, I'm sure I'd be having another problem because I've had nothing BUT problems since I "updated" my browser, the way my neighbor says you are supposed to.
    Thanks anyway, caldwell418

  • The timekeeping system we use does not like HTML 5 so what is the latest version of Firefox that does not use HTML 5?

We have been told by our timekeeping system provider that the latest versions of FireFox, Chrome and IE are not compatible with their websites at this time. I was told that it was because of the use of HTML 5 by the more recent versions of these web browsers. I need to download the most recent version of FireFox that does not use HTML 5. Can anyone tell me which version this would be?

It isn't "Timesheet Next Generation", is it? We had a thread on that here: [https://support.mozilla.org/questions/961306 Websites using php and mysql stopped sorting drop down lists properly starting last week. Did something change?]
Unfortunately, HTML5 is a large specification with a lot of parts that has been implemented in pieces over the course of several years. It would be really helpful if your vendor could indicate what EXACTLY is not compatible and then it could be researched. Otherwise, you'd have to use trial and error. Either way, you would end up with an older browser that isn't safe to run on the internet. It could be time to consider other vendors...

  • Why is the latest version of Firefox 33.0.2 using 100% of my CPU?

Just like the last update to Thunderbird, with no changes on my system, the latest version of Firefox uses 100% of my CPU where it didn't before. I've run every test, disabled my anti-virus, run in safe mode and it makes no difference.
Since there was no useful answers when I posted about the TB problem, I doubt there will be any here.
Sorry Mozilla, but you're about to lose my support. I already moved away from Thunderbird. Now that FF has the same problem, I'm about to switch my browser to Chrome, even though it is not as good.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.
    See "Creating a profile":
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Profile_issues
If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

  • Why am I unable to log in to 'Formspring' with the latest version of Firefox? I have turned off all ad blockers. Other browsers are fine.

The website 'Formspring.me' loads, but then when I click 'log in' I find the website to be completely unresponsive. Clicking 'Log in with Facebook' also fails, and this has worked up until now..
I am using the latest version of Firefox, all my plug-ins are up to date and all adblockers are turned off.
My computer runs Windows Vista Ulitmate with Service Pack 2.

Hi, thanks for your reply :). I've actually just solved the problem - it was a AVG Safe Search!
I went to C:\Program Files\AVG then fould the 'FireFox' folder and deleted it. When I restarted firefox then add-on was gone and the problem solved.
    Thanks for your time,

  • What is the latest version of Firefox for my laptop as of August, 2011?

I'm running Windows 8 (xp) and thinking of switching to Firefox. I'd like to know what the latest version of Firefox is for my laptop?

Do you mean IE8? Windows 8 has not been released.
You can use the current version, Firefox 5.0.1. Look at the system requirements '''''carefully''''' to be sure you have what is necessary, especially '''Pentium 4 processor''' and enough '''RAM''' since many XP systems came with only 256MB. Right-click on the "My Computer" icon on your Desktop and choose Properties for basic information about your system in the "General" tab.
