  • I shattered the screen on my iPod touch 4th gen. Can I get it replaced and what is the price?

The screen is completely shattered. I was told that Apple will replace/repair for free. Does anyone know if this is true?

Unless you purchased the optional AppleCare+ warranty,
Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $199 for a n64 GB 4G and $99 for the others. They do not fix yours.

  • I just got new apple headphones and the earpiece came off, how can I get new ones?

I read that the 5s and what's included in the box when you get it comes with a 1 year warranty and I take care of my earphones so I don't know why the earpiece just broke off. Would I need to buy new ones or can I get new ones from apple since the year warranty isn't up yet?

Bring them to Apple and find out.  The Genius will examine them.  Only the Genius can determine if the headphone broke from manufacturer defect or from user abuse.

  • I have 3 IPOD touches.  I just got a new one and set up an apple id for it.  When i go to the store, it brings up an old apple id to one of the other ipods.  Why isnt it bringing up the id i gave to the ipod?

I have 3 ipod touches.  Just got a new one and set up an apple id for it.  But when i use the ipod to go to store to make a purchace.  It tells me to sign in, and brings up an Apple ID and ask for password.  the problem is the Apple ID its bringing up is for my other Ipods.  How do i change it to bring up my id i set up with That ipod.  I never once put that id into the current ipod.  Like i dont even know how it got there.

This is what yo have to do:
Go to Settings>iTunes and App Stores and sign out and sign in with the other account.
    That is the only place.
    Try signing out. Then
Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    Then sign back in.

What is the life expectancy of the older base stations (flying saucer/spaceship looking one) and what are the telltale connection signs that it's starting to go?
Apple has never published any life expectancy specifications for any of their routers (or desktops/laptops) that I am aware of. As a rule of thumb, I would consider two years for any consumer electronics that operates 24 x 7 to be a reasonable period. Obviously some experience more or less and it would depend on a number of factors: ambient temperature, electrical circuit stability, area prone to lightening strikes, etc.
Some telltale signs that an AirPort has (or is about to fail):
Status lights are not illuminated or do not match any of the known configurations.
Unit feels cool to the touch after power is applied even after a lengthly (15-30 minutes) period of time.
Unit refuses to intialize, even after performing multiple "factory default" resets.
    Weak or no wireless signal.
    Ethernet port(s) not functioning
    Etc.
Also, are there any compatiility issues with newer models and G5/G4s?
    Three potential issues:
Depending on the version of OS X you are running on these clients, they may not be able to support the latest AirPort Utility required to administer the latest AirPorts. OS X 10.5.7 is the minimum required.
Support for 802.11n connectivity. Most G5 or G4 Apples support 802.11g, some only 802.11b.
Support for WPA2. Not supported if the G5 or G4 is equipped with the Original AirPort Card.

How do I obtain service for my iPhone?
The iPhone support site has troubleshooting articles to help you solve your iPhone issue on your own. If you have reviewed those articles and still need service for your iPhone, you can contact your carrier or Apple. Note: There may be a fee for diagnostic service. Do not send any accessories with your iPhone because they will not be returned to you. If you seek service in Switzerland or a member country of the European Economic Area that is not the country of original purchase, see your service options.
My iPhone is not eligible for warranty service. What are my service options?
Apple offers service options for an iPhone that is not eligible for warranty service.
Battery ServiceIf your iPhone requires service due to the battery’s diminished ability to hold an electrical charge and it is not covered under Apple's warranty, an AppleCare product, or statutory consumer rights, Apple will service your iPhone for a service fee. For more details, please refer to theBattery Service information.
iPhone Screen RepairRepair and replacement costs depend on your iPhone model and your AppleCare product coverage. Accidental damage isn't covered under the Apple One Year Limited Warranty. When you request screen repair online or by phone, Apple will place an authorization on your credit card to cover the iPhone out-of-warranty service cost shown below in the Out-of-Warranty Service section. This is the cost for replacing the screen and fixing any additional damage. We'll charge this amount if your iPhone is eligible for out-of-warranty service and our diagnostic test shows additional damage. If your iPhone has no damage other than the screen, we'll charge the screen repair service fee.

  • Where can I get a keyboard and mouse for a Mac SE?

I have a 1988 Mac SE but am missing the keyboard and mouse.   Where can I get a keyboard and mouse?

    Welcome!
"Where to get" inquiries are more easily answered if we know your approximate geographic location. No sense on our sending you to a vendor who does not ship to your location.
That said, one resource that often works for getting older hardware---regardless of where you live---are Mac User Groups ("MUGs"). This locating page can help you find if there is one near you:

iphoto won't start because I need Library Upgrader? where can I get I as don't have the original disc.

Sounds like you have a damaged library7  To check launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and try to create a test library. If you can import a few photos.  If that works then your original library is damaged so make a temporary, duplicate copy of the library and try the three fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
1 - delete  the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your Home/Library/Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache files that are located in your Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
    Fix #2
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
    Fix #3
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

Out-of-Warranty Service: If your iPod requires service for any other hardware failure that is determined by Apple to be repairable, Apple will service your iPod for the Out-of-Warranty Repair Service fee.
If you want to set up your iPod for the Out-of-warranty service, we recommend that you take your iPod to a local Apple Retail Store. Alternatively, you can contact Apple Technical Support.
If Apple determines that an iPod is not repairable, for example, if it has failed due catastrophic damage or the iPod has been disassembled into multiple pieces, then Out-of-Warranty Service is not available and the iPod will be returned. Please see Apple's Repair Terms And Conditions for further details.

I have an iMac purchased new about 5 years ago with OS 10.4.11. I would like to upgrade to Lion. I currently have a 2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 2 GB of ram. Can I upgrade to Lion, and what is the best way to do so?

    From what I read here:
    http://www.tuaw.com/2011/06/06/lion-...u-2-gb-of-ram/
s long as they already have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 installed in it.All a person needs to do with that type of iMac is to upgrade/max out their Ram. They claim that an Interl iMac with Core 2 Duo is all that is needed, as long as it has OS 10.6.8 installed. They say you don`t need  the "Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor"
But I wonder about the RAM speed, the iMac 2.33Ghz uses DDR2 SDRAM,  which I believe is rated at 667Mhz. Lion maybe installed but it might be problems running smoothly or not?
Did some quick checking and the iMacs apple is selling this year use 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM.
The only thing to do is to make sure you have a good back-up, Install your RAM and install Snow Leo, then wait a couple of hours and install Lion.
    Good Luck
