The lens profile creator program is not installed on my pc (windows 7 - 32 bits)

After downloading the Adobe Lens Profile Creator and decompress, creates the folder: Adobe Lens Profile Creator 1.0
Inside the folder are the following files:
calibration charts
documentation
sample images
Adobe Lens Profile Creator.exe
cv100.dll
cxcore100.dll
libifcoremd.dll
libifportmd.dll
libmmd.dll
So, I double click the file: Adobe Lens Profile Creator.exe
The following message appears:

  • Does the Lens Profile Creator work with Photoshop Elements 8.0..?

    Hello,
I am very new to the world of Photoshop, so please forgive if this is an obvious/stupid question...
I am using Photoshop Elements 8.0 and I have a couple of pictures that I need to remove the 'fish eye' lens distortion from around the edges...
The blurb for the Lens Profile Creator says that it is for use in the "Adobe Photoshop® family of products"...
Does this include Photoshop Elements 8.0 or do they really mean it is just for Photoshop CS5, Camera Raw and Photoshop Lightroom...
    Any help will be appreciated...
    Many Thanks
    mc1903uk

PSE does not have the user-interface to turn on lens-corrections, nor does the ACR 6.1 update for PSE contain the lens-profile database installer, so if PSE is the only member of the PS-family that you have installed then effectively you cannot apply lens profiles.
If a computer has the lens-profile database installed and lens-distortion-correction has been enabled in the XMP sidecar for a particular image, both requiring PS-CS5's ACR 6.1-updater or LR3 to be installed and one of those used to enable lens-corrections for the image, then PSE can use ACR 6.1 to apply a lens profile, because the version of the ACR 6.1 plug-in for PS and PSE is the same plug-in.
BTW, removing fish-eye distortion completely, which is what enabling lens-corrections does by default, will leave a rather poor looking image that has been completely rectilinearized but has severe stretching of the pixels at the edges, so only the center is useable.  With my 8mm Sigma fisheye, I reduce the Distortion part of the correction down to 44 so the black corners are gone, but there is still some bulging of the image.
If you want to experiment with lens-corrections, you could install the 30-day trial of LR3.

  • NVIDIA driver 6md647ww does not install on W701 with Windows 7 64 Bit

    Hello,
I have downloaded the nvidia driver 6md647ww (311.00), 64 bit version, and can't install on a Windows 7 64-bit system. It says "no compatible device found". The strange thing is, although the decompression routine and the window asking to start installation both say that they are the 64 bit version, the text besides the check mark "install the driver now" says it will install the 32 bit version (after decompressing the window says 64 bit in the upper part, but 32 bit in the lower part).
So I guess there is an error in the installation routine which erronously wants to install the 32 bit version although it is DEFINITELY the 64 bit version I have downloaded. Also, I downloaded for testing the 32 bit version of the driver (5md647ww), and if I try to install that, I get exactly the same error as with the 64 bit version.
Could someone please look into the 6md647ww, there is something wrong with it. Also, I can install 6md640ww and 6md643ww without any problems and switch between these two versions without any error - the 6md647ww issue is definitely NOT a problem of my OS configuration.
I have a sporadic heavy crash issue with 6md643ww and need to upgrade badly.
    Please help. Best regards, Michael
System: Lenovo W701, 16 GB Ram, Windows 7 64 Bit, NVIDIA Quadro FX 3800M

In the meanwhile Rev 04 of the driver was published. This version is binary different to Rev 03 and - surprise - it now says correctly after unpacking it will install the 64-bit version. But after that same problem as before, "no compatible device found".
I did some searching into the files of 6md647ww. I guess the file Display.Driver\NVLT.inf contains a list of compatible devices - in this file the sections labelled NVIDIA_SetA_Devices.NTamd64.* list a lot of device-ids, for example PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0A3C&SUBSYS_214517AA and many more. The device id of the graphics card for a system can be found in the hardware/device manager of windows, I obtained that for my card and this id doesn't show anywhere in NVLT.inf. So if my guess is correct, it is no wonder the installer says "no compatible device" since the device id of my card is not listed in NVLT.inf.
Please note again that all previous versions of lenovo drivers for my NVIDIA Quadro FX 3800M did and do install without absolutely any problem!
This is strange, readme of the current driver version definitely says NVIDIA Quadro FX 3800M is supported by this driver, but the driver doesn't seem to contain the device id for it. Looks almost like the wrong driver was used / bundled into 6md647ww.
And again the question to the board / administrators if lenovo technical support is reading here and is there another contact at lenovo where I could direct my problem to? I am still having the sporadic heavy crash issue which is very dangerous since it can happen any time if displaying whatever graphics in whatever software and which therefore has a high risk of data loss. Also, installing the plain NVIDIA driver directly in the current version still has the problem of flickering and color errors, so this isn't a solution either.
    Best regards, Michael

  • I can not install iTunes on my windows 8 64 bit laptop

I have been trying to install iTunes 11.01 on my windows 8 64-bit laptop and I keep getting the same error "Microsoft .VC80.CRT type="win32". version="8.0.50727,6195", public Key Token="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b, processor Architecture'+x86'". I have tried using different links and the troubleshoot compatibility and nothing still. I have tried downloading other versions of iTunes but still nothing. I do not know what else to do, please HELP!!!!

Not Windows RT then .  When you say "I've tried both" do you mean the 32- and 64-bit installers for Windows?  In the first instance you should go to http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ - this should detect the version of Windows you are running and offer the correct installer.  It'll look like this:
Click on Download Now - this will download the correct installer for you to run and install iTunes.
There is, however, some anecdotal evidence that the scripts on the Apple site that are supposed to detect the version of Windows you are running may fail for some users - jumping straight to the "Thank you for downloading ..." page with the installer not having been downloaded.  As an alternative, you can go directly to the relevant downloads:
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (32-bit) - iTunesSetup.exe
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (64-bit) - iTunes64Setup.exe
of which you'll need the second one.  See turingtest2's notes on Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates for more details if you're still having problems with installation; you may also need to consult HP's helpdesk as the error message you report may be symptomatic of a Windows issue, not an iTunes one.

  • Sony rx100m3 should be recognized by LR 5.5 but it is not. I cannot get the lens profile

I got the new rx100m3 by sony. But I cannot get any lens profile, there is only the lens of the rx100/m2.
But in the list of supported cameras it is.
May there be a difference between the us- and german version? The supported cameras differ.

Update - I stayed up late last night and re-ran the lens profile creator at home on my Mac OS X 10.8.5.  Placed that LCP file in the directory I originally mentioned above (I overwrote the earlier LCP file created on a Windows machine), launched LR 5.3, and LR successfully matched the new profile with my lens.
Lesson learned - an LCP file created on Windows OS cannot be used on a Mac, and I assume, vice versa.  In retrospect, this shouldn't be a surprise (but some other file formats appear to work on either).  I wonder if Adobe translates user submitted LCP files from one platform to the other, so that downloads are offered to the community equally on either platform...

  • Adding a Lens Profile to lightroom from Adobe lens profile creator

Hi, I just made a lens profile from the lens profile creator for my Canon 80-200 2.8L. I then added the profile to the 1.0 folder that holds all the other lens profiles. However, lightroom does not list to profile as an option in the lens profiles. Is there something else that I need to do?

While the more recent PDF link still works, the “Lightroom Queen” has done some recent website maintenance and the URL for default locations of files is different:
    http://www.lightroomqueen.com/articles-page/lightroom-5-default-locations/
Obviously the link I provided had my username “Steve” in it and you’d be substituting your username, instead.  Also the AppData folder is hidden so you have to either enable viewing hidden folders in Explorer or just type it into the Explorer address bar and hit Enter.
The other issue you might have, which was already talked about in the preceding discussion, is that camera profiles are specific to raw or non-raw formats and if what is in your DNG is a JPG then perhaps it wouldn’t work.
Would you mind providing the DNG and the associated camera profile via a website like dropbox.com and if you have it, the original file that was wrapped up as a DNG?

  • Lens Profile Creator and Astronomical Telescopes

I'm interested in using the Lens Profile Creator with astronomical telescopes for astrophotography. Using the checkerboard to create a profile would be problematic because you can't come to focus on close objects and really need to be focused at infinity (many miles) for the optics to have the same characteristics used in astrophotography. But one can image other "dense" but not geometrically regular targets. Dense starfields in the Milky Way for example. So there may be a workaround.
Is this an appropriate place to discuss this use?
If not, point me elsewhere. I have heard that some at Adobe are working on astrophotography uses for Photoshop and this particular app (or something like it) would be very useful to us.
    Drew S.

There are a number of things darks/flats/bias can't remove: curvature, coma, pincushion, chromatic aberration. Some of those (pincushion i.e. showing stars on the chip in a slightly different position from their true position) may or may not be correctable with this sort of an app. It's possible using outside data (comparing the star locations in the image to their true locations in a catalog - that's a common astrophotography measurement and only takes seconds). Correcting curvature (differing focus off axis) chromatic aberration and coma (distorted star shape off axis) seem just what this app is about.
Printing a checkerboard on a nearby hill top sounds involved. Maybe I could get them to plough it in a regular pattern? :-)
The camera does not capture the data you mention. The images are usually in FITS format which has an enormous amount of data about the focal length, exposure time, amount of atmosphere through which you are looking, etc.
Calculating from the book value for the lens(es) camera chip etc would likely not be give a better result than the value obtained before correction. In some designs of scopes, particularly the most common ones, the focal length changes as you focus for example. The lenses and mirrors, comparing one scope to the next, are not perfectly identical.
But a dense star field would be something against which you could measure changes in star shape, focus, chromatic aberration and possibly even position. Once you figured out the parameters for your particular scope+corrector lenses+camera setup you could then use that profile thereafter.
I'd love to chat with that engineer  I had heard you have one person who got a Meade SCT and started astroimaging just to learn the things we need and most astroimagers do use photoshop.

  • Are mid-zoom distortions interpolated in Adobe Lens Profile Creator

    Hi!
I'm making LCP files for my two cameras. I use CHDK in my Canon PowerShots for having DNG files. I wonder, if I'm going to use three imaging sets for each camera with different zooms, let us say no-zoom, 1/2maximum, and maximum zoom, does the Lens Profile Creator calculate distortion parameters for the other zoom values as well by interpolating? I think it should do that, but I want to get a confirmation for this before adjusting thousands of photos. I have had hard times by fighting with computers lately, and I can almost sense the "oh-you-did-not-shoot-with-exact-zoom" waiting for me just behind the corner

  • Sony: Lens Profile Creator knows the subject distance, ACR does not

When making a lens profile for a Sony alpha DSLR, lens profile creator identifies the focus distance, and processes each distance accordingly. However, when loaded in ACR (or PS lens correction filter), the software does not display the distance. Why can LPC read the subject distance and ACR cannot?

    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}

The Creator, however, determines / calculates the subject distance itself.
Is this a complicated way of saying "God only knows"?
In all seriousness, if one program can calculate a piece of info from a file, so could another.  The designers may just not have chosen to dig so deeply into the manufacturer-specific data as to do so.  Or, as appears to be the case here, the information is derived from known subject material in the image itself.

  • How is the best way to capture frame in Lens Profile Creator?

Hello, I read in the Shooting Guide related to Adobe Lens Profile Creator:
When framing the chart in different areas of the image frame, use a combination of physically moving and tilting the camera to achieve an optimal balance for LCP generation.
    i. Only moving the camera to frame, so that image plane stays perfectly parallel to the chart, can have an adverse affect on LCP calibration data.
ii. Only tilting the chart may cause depth-of-field issues, where part of the chart may go too far out of focus due to the large angle of the chart in regards to the image plane. This can also have an adverse affect on LCP calibration data
Ok, but I'm not able to understand at all, please help me:
    1) is it better if I'll rotate the camera on tripod to left and to right or is it better phisically moving the tripod to left and to right?
    2) is it better if I'll tilt up or down the camera on the tripod or it's better picking up or down the tripod bar?
    3) if it should be better make a combination of tild and rotate and move the camera how can I know the optimal combination?
I hope that someone who has experimented this could explain me better
    Thank you everybody
    Damiano

I don't know what is technically optimal, but there is an aspect of practical convenience here, as well.
In my experiments with this, I physically moved the tripod in the left-and-right direction, and then re-aimed the camera vertically as required in order to put the target into the desired part of the frame. I was happy with the results, though I did not make any deep comparative study.
IMO whatever technique permits you to make a sufficient variety of reasonably careful acquisitions, without being unfeasibly difficult, and which the analysis tool does not reject, is probably going to be good enough.

  • Should I bother with the Adobe Lens Profile Creator?

I am concentrating mostly on architectural photography these days and I need a pep talk about the "Adobe Lens Profile Creator". The process seems laborious and error prone -  in other words it could end up being a waste of time and money (for the printing of the calibration charts). Has anyone used it to good effect? And with what lenses?
I do the bulk of my work with the 24mm PC-E Nikkor f/3.5 lens and I also use two older lenses  - the 28mm PC Nikkor f/3.5 and (my favorite) the 15mm Nikkor f/3.5. All three lenses suffer from a small amount of barrel distortion and chromatic aberration so some correction is usually needed.
I have two specific reservations about the lens profiling process -
    1. It came out with Photoshop CS5. Since then the manual controls have increased in sophistication. Can't I get pretty much the same result using the manual adjustments?
    2. In my drop-down menu in Adobe Camera Raw CC there are eighty-one lenses listed - but not the three I am using! This is crazy and reflects badly on the people who designed the whole process. Who cares about perspective correction in a 600mm lens?
Anyway, I would appreciate a reply from anyone who has gone through the profiling process. Thanks.
    Kevin from Cambridge, Massachusetts

save it and you have a perfect raw - lensprofile
Ok, but what does it mean rename and correct the content of the lcp file?
It remains a profile created from jpg source, CameraRaw could consider it like a raw lens profile but it has no more value than a jpg profile, I believe...
Anyway, for whatelse it could be useful your suggestion to modify lcp file?
    Thank you for your attention
