The macbook extremaly slow when entering to recovery mode
Hi all.
I have a macbook pro mid 2010 with 10.8.5 on it
When I go to recovery mode, a computer begin to be super slow.
Also after each update what I made, I get a kernel_task 100% cpu usage, and must found and delete file macbookpro_7.1.plist
Is this any solution for this issue?

McBook 2011 shuts down when want to enter to recovery mode

This confims to me that my boot dmg is corrupted. However I wanted to rule away the option of the firmware password, and hence mounted the dmg with no verification. Using this I was able to sucessfully remove the firmware password. After rebooting I got indeed not prompted for a password when holding alt. The problem with my RHD however persisted. -
What is wrong with OSX on the MacBook Pro and when will it be fixed?
When running Second Life or Worlds of Warcraft or just quick browing... anything graphically intensive on the MacBook Pro, the machine slows to a crawl, eventually completely freezes up. The cursor doesn't move, pressing the Caps Lock key does not change the Caps Lock light and the machine is no longer reachable from any other machine on the network. The only means available to recover is to hold the power button down until the Mac powers off and then restart it. This doesn't happen when running XP through boot camp and windows client versions of these programs. What is wrong with OSX on the MacBook Pro and when will it be fixed? Thanks.
I am not sure that this relevant to the discussion. But I am searching for anyone else who is seeing random freezes on 10.4. I usually don't see anything in the log after I have to do a hard reboot of the box. However, I have noticed some I/O messages when I have been able to console into an affected device, but have not captured to this point. Also, when I am able to console, the box will accept the login, but times out when trying to authenticate the password.
I am also seeing a server freeze on my G4s. I am able to reproduce the problem with a clean install from the 10.4 disk. The issue is reproducible with tcpdump, dumpcap as well as tshark. I have also tried compiling the tools with different versions of libpcap. I am able to reproduce this problem every time with a packet generator sending small packets.
It seems that the small packets aggravate the underlying cause. As the more small packets are sent the quicker I am able to reproduce the problem. With a mix of packet sizes, as seen in most networks, this issue is hard to reproduce. We have been using the G4 since 2003 as a packet analysis tool and it has been very stable up until we attempted to do analysis of a VOIP network with 10.4. The small RTP packets in conjunction with 10.4 seem to be the culprit.
So far I am not able to reproduce the freeze on a 10.2 or 10.3 image. This is not isolated to bad hardware, as I have been able to reproduce on 4 different Xserves in my labs with similar configurations.
I currently have a G4 set up in my lab and would be able to supply any info that may be needed to track down this issue. I have been thrust into administration on this box recently so I am not very familiar with debugging procedures on the Xserve or MacOS. However, I have the hardware and the test equipment that many in a production setting may not have at their disposal. So if anyone, with extensive knowledge of the Xserve or MacOS, is willing to work with me to track down this issue I am willing to do the leg work in the lab. I would appreciate any assistance that is available. -
Since the update to Yosemite the MacBook has slowed down appreciably. Safari for example takes upwards of 30 seconds to load. How can I speed things up?

Not enough free storage space can slow your Mac down.
Click your Apple menu icon top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac > More Info > Storage. Make sure there's at least 15% free disk space.

Check to see if the startup disk needs repairing.
Launch Disk Utility located in HD > Applications > Utillities
Select the startup disk on the left then select the First Aid tab.
Click: Verify Disk (not Verify Disk Permissions)
If Disk Utility reports errors, restart your Mac while holding down the Command + R keys. From there you should be able to access the built in utilities in OS X Recovery to repair the startup disk.
Make sure to back up all important data first before using OS X Recovery.
Anti virus software, as well as third party Mac cleaning utilities such as MacKeeper and CleanMyMac can also slow your Mac down.
For Safari.
Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Relaunch Safari to test. if that doesn't help, troubleshoot Safari extensions.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall. -
I bought iPhone 6 Plus few days ago and I have the following problems:

currently at ios 7.1.. suddenly my iPhone entered into recovery mode without any reasons.. i tried using iTunes restore the iPhone.. after the process finished... I still stuck at recovery mode. any idea?
i have tried to restore via itunes as i would have usually, half way through i get an error code 3194 pop up.....and yes i do back up.

my new iphone 4 is stuck with "USB connect to itunes". I put it in recovery mode last night. Itunes recognizes the phone and says it's in recovery mode, but when I do a restore, nothing changes.
it says "itunes has detected an iphone in recovery mode. you must restore this iphone before it can be used with itunes." I click OK
then I click the restore button
Then the box says "Are you sure you want to restore the iphone to it's factory settings? all of your.....etc." I click Restore and Update
then it goes into software update
at the end of the software update it says "Itunes has detected an iphone in recovery mode...."
All this time, the screen of the iphone stays on with USB to Itunes
I might add that while the phone was in it's first attempt at recovery mode, it was accidentally unplugged.

Try these steps. If it doesn't work the first time, try a second time.
Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off. (If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.)
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on. (Note: If you see the screen that shows you are out of battery, let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some charge, and then start with step 2 again.)
Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears you can release the Home button
If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert: "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode..."
Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538

My ipod touch 4 gen is in recovery mode and i dont know how to get out of it,i tried everything like hold the home and top button at the same time. All it did what g to the apple logo and went back to recovery mode any help?
Once the Device is asking to be Restored with iTunes... it is too late to save anything... and you must continue with the Recovery...

If not successful try the remaining items of:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Attempted the new IOS4 upgrade, now stuck on Recovery Mode
I think my problem is a little bit different than everyone else's. My phone is stuck on recovery mode, and is not being detected by itunes. Whenever I plug it in the appropriate device sound chimes in, with the "new hardware needs to be installed prompt." However, the ipod is named " Apple Mobile Device(Recovery Mode )." Any suggestions? Thank you.
Well, had to drive over to my parent's house to use the Mac over there. Plugged in my brick of an iphone and it was reset using their itunes!! Came back to my computer, uninstalled "Apple Mobile Device" under device manager and then had to reinstall it via Add New Hardware. The phone sync'd up with my itunes and restored all of my apps and contacts, and is running 4.0. Now to see what other problems I encounter with this stupid update....

Any possibility of opening it up and trying to troubleshoot it. Mine has completely died also. I'm seeing quite a few psots about this freakin' phone breaking. I've never dropped mine or gotten it wet, I barely use it & only had it a little over a year. Mine at this point will be used for target practice.

Macbook freezes up when entering information on a webpage
My macbook is a late 2006 model (2 ghz intel 2 duo, 2 gb ram) It is running osx 10.7.4 It dosent matter which browser I use at all. I've tried Safari, Firefox & Chrome and they all do the same thing. If I am logging into my email, facebook, bank, etc. When I enter my username then hit tab my mac will freeze for a good 30-45 seconds then it will be allow me to enter my password. then it will freeze up again. Any suggestions. I just reinstalled osx last week and still the same problem.
I can guarantee it's because you have too little RAM. Lion is notoriously slow when you only have 2 GB of RAM. Here's a pack of RAM from Amazon that is compatible with your computer.
