The Markup Extension in Preview

Is it just me or is the markup extension in the new Preview significantly worse than the markup tools in Mavericks' Preview? I use Preview a lot to annotate powerpoints in PDF format. So I will create text boxes and arrows and lines quickly in accordance with a lecture that accompanies the powerpoint. In Mavericks it was great, and there really was no way to do it faster than it was - you select text boxes, and then draw them where you want. You select lines, make it an arrow and then draw the arrows with a motion from point A to point B. And if you needed to draw a bunch of arrows, you could just draw them one after another. Same with text boxes.
Now, however, Preview uses the Markup extension (I think). Now when you want to draw a text box, you have to click the text box button, which puts a placeholder box in the center of the page. You can then start typing, and then you have to put the box where it should go. To type another one, you have to click the toolbar text box button again. Same with arrows, you click the button and it puts an arrow right in the center of the screen. Then you have to move it and resize it to fit where it is supposed to be.
How is this better than before? If you want to draw one text box, you now have to do a whole extra process of placing it where it should go. If you want to draw several separate boxes in succession, you have to click the text box button for each one rather than just draw them. That results in extra clicks and thus less efficiency.
It is even worse with arrows - rather than just drag from point A to point B to make your arrow (1 motion) now you have to drag the arrow point to the right spot (2 motions, one from toolbar to arrow point, and then from point to desired location) and the arrow back to the right spot (another 2 motions, one from the desired point location to the default arrow back, then drag to the desired location of your arrow's back). That's at least 4-5 extra motions, and 3 extra clicks, PER arrow. When efficiency matters, such as anyone using this for a job or for taking notes to a live lecture, this is going to make it that much more difficult. To top it off, I can't think of any advantage to this method. It doesn't look nicer, it doesn't help at all. It was fine the way it was, and now it is quantitatively, objectively worse. Is there any way to adjust how the markup extension works? I'm assuming it is going to be equally as bad in Mail or anywhere else you can use the markup extension.

Preview was a much more powerful editor 2 and 3 OS ago. They continue to dumb it down and make it less practical and efficient.

go to your desktop, look for 'Macintosh HD' icon
[double click]
window opens.
look for 'system'
[double click]
double click on 'Library'
look for 'Frameworks'
click on drop down grey arrow.
double click on 'versions'
double click on 'A'
double click on 'resources'
you will find 'WIDGET SIMULATOR' in there
double click on it.
NEXT,
Go to Application/Preview, then right clicking on Preview and selecting "Show Package Contents." Then go to Contents/Plugins/Markup.
drag that icon into the opened 'widget simulator' program.
VOILA!

Missing markup extension

I've upgraded to Yosemite on my 2013 MacBook Pro, my 2012 Mac Mini and my 2013 iMac. The iMac is my main work machine but the markup extension is not installed. There are no "Actions" listed. It installed on my two other computers but not this one (although each of the other computers have differing extensions...which also concerns me).
Do I have to go somewhere to find the extension and download it?

Viewing the file extension in the tphoto humbnails preview

The file names have the file extensions cut off. Is it possible to view the file with the extension. I need to know if I'm looking at a .jpg or a .nef file (raw file) I tried the preferences and there are choices but none show the extension. I did notice that if your over an image a pop up window appears that shows the entire file name with extension....but I need it on the photo thumbnail. Thanks!

Custom Markup Extensions

Hello Community,
I'm looking into porting my SL5 code over to Windows Store Application development, and I'm having trouble finding where the IMarkupExtension interface is with the new libraries. Can someone point this out for me? A search online has turned up
conspicuously blank, but I'm sure there's guidance out there for this feature in Windows Store development.

Well, if I was smarter (and less angry/violated/disturbed), I would have made a vote for this 3 years ago. Based off MSFT's track record of getting features in from vote to product, it might be announced as a Windows 10 feature on April 29th in //build.

Please vote. It's pretty amazing that Xamarin.Forms supports this concept and WinRT still doesn't. That means an external partner understands MSFT's technology better than MSFT itself. Go figure.
Maybe someday MSFT will finally make it fun to develop in Xaml again... like they did in Silverlight 5 (you know, four years ago... and counting).

With hardware acceleration enabled, and with plenty of tabs open, using the Windows 7 taskbar preview option will almost always crashed the nVidia display driver.

Latest Firefox 4 beta 6.
nVidia GT240 1GB DDR3 with driver version 258.96.
Windows 7 Ultimate.
If I have plenty of tabs opened, in Firefox 4 beta 6 with hardware acceleration enabled, using the Windows 7 Taskbar preview feature (that will show all the tabs Firefox has loaded) will cause the Nvidia display driver to crash. When this happen, the GUI part of Firefox will be unusable and has to be killed via Task Manager.
This doesn't happen if hardware acceleration is disabled.

It is beta software and the older 4.0 b6 version may not work with all display drivers.

I have installed Adobe packages and cannot find the Acrobat extension folder please advise how can I get these applications to load onto my computer?

I have installed Adobe Creative Cloud for teams CC Packages which says that Acrobat XI Pro is installed. Your support page says it does not install Acrobat and I have to look in the Extensions folder for an MSI file. I have run a number of searches and cannot find the Acrobat extension folder please advise how can I get these applications to load onto my computer?
Also I now administer the teams and have accepted the invitation to I received to be a team member and download the apps. The admin page shows that I have been sent an invitation but does not show my account as "ACtive" unlike my other team members. I tried to use the link in the invite to accept it become active but the link displayed an error saying I had already accepted the invite... why is no account not active?
Finally what other product downloads in Creative Cloud do not actually download as part of the Creative cloud Packager for downloading the apps? e.g. acrobat and what else?

Pages '08 Export does not honor the "Hide extension" checkbox

I have noticed that Pages '08, even with the latest update (3.0.3), does not honor the state of the "Hide extension" checkbox in the Export save dialog (or "sheet" that slides out from the title bar). Specifically, I have seen this happen when exporting to Word. When un-checking the "Hide extension" checkbox, the filename is displayed in the dialog with the .doc extension, but the file appears in the save folder (anywhere in the file system) without the .doc extension until I do a Get Info on the file and un-check Hide Extension in the Name & Extension section.
This is really annoying because I hate automatic hiding of file extensions in general, and I find it unacceptable with any kind of MS Office docs because my Windows-using colleagues can't seem to cope without a file extension they recognize.
Also note that this does not seem to affect the Save or Save As dialogs in Pages '08, only the Export save dialog. I can create a regular Pages document, do a Save As, uncheck Hide Extension, and I'll see the document show up in the file system with the .pages extension.
Is this a known bug in Pages '08? I can't find any mention of it in the forums. I also want to know if this is fixed in Pages '09. I've been looking for a way to report this as a bug, but am not having much luck.

Is the Markup Mail feature available on iOS 8.1?

I had heard that the Markup feature in Mail that was released as part of the Yosimete OS upgrade last week was going to also be included in the iOS 8.1 release that occurred yesterday... Can anyone confirm or deny this?
I it was, how does someone access / use it on their iPad or iPhone?
If it was not, does anyone know why it was not included and/or if it will be added at a later date?
I could see this being a big help to certain businesses that require documents to be signed and returned.

Power View in SharePoint Server - The data extension type for a data source is not valid

Hi All,
All of a sudden I am getting following error when trying to create Power View report using shared report data source (no error testing the connection):
"The current action cannot be completed. The data extension type for a data source
'http://dev/Shared Ducuments/Sales.rsds' is not valid for this operation"
I already have a data source (I had created it after creating my site collection a week ago) and when I use this source to create Power View report then there is no error but I am getting above error when I create another similar data source and use it to create
a Power View report.
Please help me to resolve the error.

This is only a simple sales receipt application that uses dgv and textboxes to push its data to dataset to the crystal report, a simple one but there are instances that it is very slow.
But I'm having trouble implementing this using SSRS, since I'm only new to this one, wherein I created the report using report wizard, with two button options inside the form for print preview or direct print selection. Actually, it is very easy to implement
with print preview because it uses reportviewer. My problem is that how can I print the report directly without using a reportviewer?

How do I view more pages in the Folio Builder ACV preview?

I created a folio with an article that has two orientations, but when previewing it only shows the first page. How do I view more pages in the Folio Builder ACV preview?

All that out of the way, clicking preview should take you to the page you’re on but still give you the entire article. Use your mouse to swipe up or down.

How do I get the phone version of my site to use the same url as the desktop version -- without the "phone" extension. when someone posted a link to my site, they posted it from their phone and it included /phone. Now when people click on it - - it goes straight to the phone version of the site.
