The menu bar at the top of the screen is gone, as if the page was magnified 10 times Ichecked magnifier not on, no problem with IExplorer just firefox

Tried a restart and a shut down. When I go to any page it is so big there is nothing on the screen but the site page, no menu. If I move the cursor to the top right the little x-out icon pops up and I can exit Firefox. If I switch to Internet Explorer everything is fine! Help I hate IE.

Can you attach a screenshot?

Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot and make sure that you do not exceed the maximum file size (1 MB).
Make sure that you do not run Firefox in full screen mode (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: command+Shift+F).
If the menu bar is hidden then press the F10 key or hold down the Alt key to make the menu bar appear.
Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

You can see which apps are open and/or recently used by double-clicking the home button to bring up the taskbar at the bottom of the screen (not all apps that appear there are active) - you can then close apps on it by pressing and holding one of them for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar. If you have an app 'open' on-screen then it won't appear on the taskbar, you will need to go back to the homescreen first, and it should then show when you next open the taskbar.

• How do I reset Mozilla so that I can get the menu bar back. Top of browser page is missing?

Top of browser page is not showing tool bar.

Firefox 3.6+ versions have a feature to allow the user to hide the Menu bar. Firefox 4+ versions have an orange Firefox button that shows when the Menu bar is hidden.
Hit the '''Alt''' key to temporarily show the Menu bar, then open View > Toolbars and select Menu bar, so it has a check-mark.
The F10 can also be used on most PC's to temporarily reveal the Menu bar.

• Firefox doesn't bring back the menu bar when toggling back from full screen view(F11)

I have recently been using the full screen view (pressing F11). This works fine until I press F11 again to resume normal view when the menu bar does not appear. This means I cannot see the minimize / maximize / X buttons on the top right. Also, if there is another window open i.e. Word sometimes parts of this show through on the Firefox window. I try to use the latest version and so am currently using version 3.6.8
== This happened ==
Every time Firefox opened
== Not sure - maybe after the latest update?

No, dont return it, its a glitch in Safari, and VERY annoying. I first would have to Force Quit Safari, but later learned to keep hovering the mouse in the upper right corner, even tho nothing, yeah nothing,,,,is visible.
Keep the mouse there, and after a bit, you will see the little arrows pointing in, hit them.
But to keep this from happening again, Im not sure.
So anybody with further info, please post it here.

• How can i see the MENU bar. Help says "Right-click on an empty section of the Tab Strip. What is a Tab Strip?

My friend just bought a Windows 8 laptop so I told her to download the latest version of FireFox. Unfortunately, some idiot removed the Menu Bar which most people love. You can see all of your options in plain English. Anyway, I referred her to help and cannot believe it's so hard to get a simple answer to this question. Why does FireFox make it so difficult to get an old fashioned menu bar?
Help says, "Right-click on an empty section of the Tab Strip and check Menu Bar". OK, what is a "TAB STRIP" and where does she find it? Who writes these silly, useless help tips?

Grad, you made some good points but we still disagree. I'll acknowledge that maybe millions was a slight exaggeration but nobody has an accurate count. However, I do understand the difference between making something simple and obvious versus a programmer trying to prove how clever he or she is.
Grad, I'm guessing you and your friends are much younger than us as we are well above the age of 50.
As for the number of clicks, I'm confused by your comment. My Menu Bar is always visible so I have to merely '''click once on Bookmarks''' to get to those menu options. It sounds as if you have to initially click on the orange FireFox button in order to see the Menu Bar, and then click a 2nd time on Bookmarks. That sounds like 2 clicks of the mouse to me.
I have Windows 7 and never saw Windows 8 so I can't comment on your excellent question. I personally had the '''Menu Bar displaying 100% of the time''' for as long as I could remember. I just couldn't remember how I initially turned it on several years ago and the help file proved to be more confusing than helpful.

• A few days ago, Firefox became too big for my screen. I have to move the the cursor to the very top to get the menu bar to show, and then it only stays if I hold the cursor there. Very annoying.

The bottom of the browser window is also below the bottom of the screen.

Yreka! Must have hit F11. Hit it again and toggled away to regular view. Thank you.

• Why is the menu bar and dock staying on top when trying to watch videos on Safari/Chrome?

I just re-installed OS X Yosemite on my macbook pro. When i try to full screen videos (such as Netflix) on Safari, Chrome, etc. the menu bar stays on top of the screen, as well as the dock. The only work around is to open the browser in full screen and then hit full screen when watching the video. This was never the case before on Yosemite or other OS X versions....
Thanks!

• HT5891 Is there a way to remove the menu bar from a secondary display while still using the "Displays have separate spaces" mode?

Is there a way to remove the menu bar from a secondary display while still using the very useful "Displays have separate spaces" mode?
The reason I ask is that most full-screen video playback in most applications, from iTunes to Flash/Silverlight plugins do not take up the full screen, instead leaving space for the menu bar (in the case of iTunes) or leaving the menu bar present on top of the video (for fullscreen Flash/Silverlight videos).
This is annoying for several reasons ranging from the obvious distraction factor to the fact that 1080p video is not played back at native resolution on a 1080p display.
If there is no way to disable this functionality while maintaining separate spaces, I would (humbly) suggest that a future update to Mavericks allow non-Lion-style* full-screen apps to take over the entire display.
*Lion-style full-screen apps are those that animate into a full-screen mode when the opposing-arrows full-screen button in the upper-right-hand corner of the window is pressed.

No. Turning that off reverts to the old display setup. You have one desktop spanned across all displays. The menu bar appears on the primary display only.

• How to remove "help" from the menu bar?

I'm using a landscape monitor in vertical mode, so I have a very narrow top of the screen. I never use the help button, ever. How can I remove it from the menu bar, freeing up some space? I need more space in the menu bar for MenuMeters etc. Thanks.

Usually the apps belonging to these icons have an option that allows you to hide the Menu Bar icon by allowing them to run as an app in the dock. However, certain applications like Caffeine must show their icons as otherwise you wouldn't be able to access them.
For example, Dropbox doesn't allow you to remove its menu bar icon:

• How do I change the background in the Menu bar screen area so that it is lighter and thus more readable?

The background in the area where the Menu bar now sits is jetblack.. When I drag, say, the print icon or cut, paste, save icons to sit to the right of the menu bar, they're there but either I see them only faintly (printer) or I cna't see them only faintly. How can I change the background to a lighter color (it used to be much lighter).

The easiest way might be to install a lightweight theme (formerly known as a persona). You can "shop" for one on the Add-ons site. The following link is for solid colors, but some of the pictorial ones might work, too.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/themes/solid
You can hover your mouse over the little image tile to see how it would look if you installed it. Can you find one that looks good to you?
Much of Firefox's interface also can be modified with style rules. However, that requires a lot more experimentation, so let's come back to that only if needed.

• Stop doesn't appear on the menu bar on Version 29.0.1. How do I install it?

Stop doesn't appear on the menu bar on Version 29.0.1 and I can't find the icon in the customize menu. It just seems to have disappeared. I would also like words under the menu icons. Also the reload icon can't be moved or customized.

• Why do I have two Bookmarks tabs, one in the Menu Bar one in the Bookmarks Toolbar?

I recently upgraded to FireFox 9.01 on my MacBook running 10.6.8. I now have two Bookmark tabs. One in the menu bar where it has always been and a new one in the Bookmarks Toolbar. The one in the toolbar has all of the custom icons for the sites that I visit but the menu bar Bookmark tab just has the generic icons. Can I display only one Bookmark tab, preferably in the menu bar where it has always been with all of the custom site icons?
Firefox also seems very slow to load my homepage, which is Yahoo, or some of my other pages. Thanks.

See this about the missing icons in the Bookmarks menu.

If you open the Customize window (View > Toolbars > Customize) then you should see that Bookmarks Menu button move to the Navigation Toolbar.
You can drag that button in the toolbar palette to remove it from the Bookmarks Toolbar.

• Using Maverick in two screen setup sometimes the mouse arrow follows the menu bar when I switch screens, and sometimes not. Sometimes the menu bar is on one screen and the mouse is on the other. What am I missing?

Am looking for a simple way to move the mouse arrow to the other screen. Must I go to Apple/System prefs? I assume the mouse arrow and the menu bar should stay together. OK, but how do I access the dock when it is not on the screen with the mouse arrow? Is the Dock unmoveable? What is needed, I guess, is a master screen with mouse, dock and menu bar, and the option to select which screen is master with all those commands available.

You're Welcome...
Another silly suggestion...
Have you done a Restart since you were fiddling around with various settings...?
