The Micro Zen's with reinforced headphone Pl

I heard the Creative has released some new Micro Zen's with reinforced headphone plugs. I just what to know how to find out if the one your buying has this? Recently my Zen's headphone plug kinda stopped working and so I'd like to exchange it for the one that has the rienforced thing in it since it has been less than 30 days so I can return it.
thankz

There's no real easy way to tell. Some people have said that if you take off the white top then you can see that there are two (or was it one?) screw that holds the top plate on.

  • Why does the micro zen break for any little thi

I hate that the micro zen break if u drop it on a soft suface. I dropped my micro zen on my futon and the zen didn't want to work anymore. Can anyone tell why this machine is so bad? And if you know how to fix it, please tell me.

Hold on a second people. Every manufacturer builds their products with some amount of durability in mind. Being able to take a short drop IS a part of that. Surly its not meant to be dropped, but manufacturers know we dont li've in a perfect world, so they take a little of that into account when building their products. Some of you guys act as if its EXPECTED to stop functioning after a small drop, and on a cusion at that.
By the way, i see your problem as a freak accident or something.

  • Is the Creative ZEN compatible with Windows XP Pro x64 editi

Hello, I recently bought a Zune and then found out it wasn't compatible with my OS, XP Pro x64. I installed the software on my laptop, but it was just too troublesome to set everything up and exchange music, videos, etc. between the two machines. So I've decided to return the Zune and get a Zen instead. I'd really like to buy the ZEN 8GB, but it does not state whether or not the x64 edition is supported. The ZEN V Plus states that the software does support the OS, so if I have to get that one, I don't mind. Thanks.

CRe: Is the Creative ZEN compatible with Windows XP Pro x64 edition?H I recently bought a Zen 8GB mp3 player. I have an xp x64 pro OS. As soon as I tried to instal the included software from the CD, a dialogue box appeared stating, "The windows operating system running on this computer is not supported by this product." I have done everything the technical assistance group has suggested with the samed result including a clean install. I did load it on my 32 bit laptop. It works fine. ONe of the problems I have found is that the correspondance goes to a different person each time and they are not reading the dialogue. I have found a way to make it work (well somewhat) with my 64 bitg machine. Oddly enough thed software for my zen V load on fine but the software is incampatable with the Zen 8GB unit. I think that there are softwarfe problems and CT is not really dealing with them.

  • Micro Zen | problem with the output "ho

    Hello.
For a few weeks now the contact in the output "hole" get worse and worse. When i plug in my earphones and only touch and bend the plug a little bit in direction to the screen, the sounds gets all numb, quiet and sometimes i hear nothing. It turned that worse that i can't have the Zen in my pockets anymore, cuz the cable bends and so the sounds goes all quiet...
I think it's a warranty subject, what do I have to do to send it in? I had a problem last july with it already and sent it in, but forgot the procedure it goes through
Oh and I also handed it in to my local shop where i bought the Zen in 2005 because of a hardware issue and they got me a new one from creative (so they handled the whole RMA procedure).
So what am I gonna do now? I bought the Zen in july 2005 and Creative already knows that because of the first RMA ^_^

Before you do anything. Which headphones are you using? Are you using a case?
My case fits around the hole perfectly so if the plug of the headphones is to thick like my Sony MDR-V50 (http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000092YPR.0.LZZZZZZZ.jpg) it will play.. but if I move the wire around just a bit only the left side of the headphones will work. So I have to use the earbuds that came with my MicroPhoto.. a shame to cause headphones sound so much nicer then earbuds.. oh well. Try a different pair of headphones/earbuds.

  • Problems disabling the "Create ZEN partition" with PXE

I have a new PXE server running ZEN7 on OES2. I have been able to get all the functionality of my older PXE server on Netware, with one exception. The Linux-based PXE server prompts to create a ZEN imaging partition every time a system is imaged. I have this disabled in the server policy, which appears to be working in every other aspect (like showing the menu everytime PXE boot occurs). Any ideas?

  • Does the Micro Photo work with Windows

    Or do I need 98SE?Thanks!

    Hello Ian,
Can you be really specific about the necessary Windows XP updates needed? I run XP Pro on a rather new computer and just got an IPOD mini. I'm ready to tear my hair out because iTunes seems to crash my computer every time I change one CD for another. iTunes runs REALLY, REALLY slow for me. Also read on the board that iTunes 6.0 and the mini don't work well together. True or not true?
    Thanks - Genevieve

  • Micro Zen - problem firmw

    Hello,
I have tried to update my firmware with the new one, but in the middle of the procees a bug has appeared. The procees was blocked and I have restarted the device handly.
Now when I connect it to my pc, Windows doesn't recognise him and the micro zen says " firmware problem" and goes directly on the recovery mode.... So I can't use it anymore..
    What can I do?

Ok, I have tried to put the 2.0. firmware.
Now when i want to start my micro zen, on the screen appears "Firmware problem" and it goes automatically on the Recovery mode or, I think what you are calling the rescue mode. I have tried all, format, clean and even Reload OS, but the problem when i want to put a new firmware, my pc says that there no micro zen connected, and the option "update" is not accesible...2 days it like that, I can't do anything with my micro zen, becaus i always stay on that menu...
I think I'm going to bring it back to the shop.....
It seems hat problem happen's very often with the update...

  • Micro Zen cnet revi

I just watched the cnet review of the micro zen and they mention that it has inline recording but they point to the headphone jack. It would be nice to have a inline recording jack.

I noticed the same thing. In the video the reviewer was talking about your being able to record and input from your old CD player or just about anything else. He was definitely talking about line-in. What would give him that idea?

  • Is it possible to save file doc, avi, mpg on the Micro Z

Can I save file.doc, avi, mpg, iso and others on the Micro Zen? Is it possible? or i can only file.mp3?

Also, you should NEVER use an MP3 player as a single source for data files. Make sure you keep backups and I would only recommend using it for transferring where the original file is still somewhere safe.

  • Problems with my Creative Micro Zen hanging on the Creative Logo Scr

I've been having problems with my Zen and have sent the following email to creative but if any one has any suggestions etc on what to do could they please email me thanks
My Creative Micro Zen 5GB player has been hanging whilst using the player.
I followed the advice found in the manual and on the creative web site to reset the player by removing the battery and then reinstalling it. This worked on a few occasions.
However the player hung again and so I tried to rest it as before, when I replace the battery the player turned on and lights up with the Creative logo screen, but then hangs on the Creative logo screen, despite waiting to see if the player continued with the start-up, it did not and so then I tried resetting again, by removing the battery and reinstalling it.
However the player is still hanging on this screen and I cant get it move away from this screen. The player wont allow me to move away from this screen at all, so I am unable to carryout the disk clean up which was also suggested. When the resetting didn?t work, I tried taking the battery out and leaving it overnight and then replacing the battery, however the player still hangs on the Creative logo screen. This has been continuing now for three days.
I have also tried plugging the player into the power charger and it still hangs on the Creative logo screen. The backlight on the Zen Player lights up when the player first turns on but once the Creative logo appears on screen the light fades out. I have also tried recharging the battery to see if maybe the problem was a flat battery but this didn?t appear to work as it is still hanging. However the Zen does light up as it does when it charges normally. I also own a spare battery, which I have tried but the Zen player still hangs on the Creative Logo page.

I found the solution! I saw numerous posts saying that all you could do is send it back to the company, then I found this one:
    Hi All,
My zen has been down for the last week, hangs up on creative screen. I took the battery out and was able to get to the recovery mode but "disc scan" would not do anything(in limbo) and "reboot "met with the same result, nothing. If you want to talk to anyone at creative and are past your 6 month warranty window you have to pay $20 for the phone call. Well I decided to take matters into my own hands and spent yesterday morning researching old threads about this problem. I kept finding an uncommon fix. When you hold your power button on and replace you battery and the recovery screen starts up you wrap on the back with your knuckle, in my case I hit my zen face down sharply on my dresser. To my amazement the "Doobie Brothers" started playing and I have'nt had any problems yet. Evidently these systems have a hard dri've that hangs up. It may not work for you but it cured my glitch.
    Steve C.
It worked for me, but only after four or fi've tries. Good Luck!<IMG height=6 src="http://forums.americas.creative.com/i/smilies/6x6_smiley-very-happy.gif" width=6 border=0>

  • Won't reformatting the Creative Zen Micro constantly kill it? Especially with the beta firmwa

I have just been the victim of "sudden audio player death syndrome" my iri'ver h0 bit the dust two weeks after I bought it... I have the same fears about my creative zen micro, as I fear that these micro dri'ves are less durable than full size hard disks and more succeptible to failure. I really was scared to format it once. And I asked the question earlier... but I would like some more replies, do you have to reformat the dri've every month to renew subscription tracks on napster to go... does anybody have experience with the service and the player, maybe for a couple of months that could tell me?

I have the Micro as well as the Seagate Pocket Dri've, a standalone version of the S dri've that's in the Micro. I've owned the latter for about fi've months now. Both of them take a fair share of abuse: the Seagate dri've travels in my backpack or pocket every day to and from work. The Micro is strapped on my arm fi've times a week as I do my daily jog. Both have yet to show any signs of damage. I also reformatted my Micro dri've about 0-2 times when I first got it (I had problems that I thought were caused by the firmware but, as it turns out, were caused by my USB card).

  • ZEN MICRO....Wireless headphones PLease write B

That's the greatest problem with new emerging technologies. I do agree, however, that the wire creates much inconvinience, but I still can't bear to part with the superb sound quality of the Micro.

  • Is the Creative zen micro a good bye or a bad

I heard alot of horror stories about creative zen micros freezing and the headphone jacks are not working so I want ask your opinion is the creative zen micro a good bye or a cheap urelieable mp3 player. I love the design and the colors and the extra features but is the player relieable or nice to look at but really senseti've. If buying the creative zen is going to be this big investment then maybe i should get an ipod its just the ipod seems so less in comparison. Please reply so that i might have a greater understanding on what to buy.

I agree with Kerndrone. People come here mostly to look for solutions to their problems. This constitutes a lot to the negati've talk. Also, how many would purposely come into a forum just to praise a player?
ipods aren't great either. I feel that they are just an overpriced piece of gadget with very few features - whatever the zen has, the ipods doesn't (i.e. FM radio/recorder,voice recorder, simple organiser) .On the other hand, whatever the ipod has, the zen also has (with the exception of games, which i think is dumb. An audio player, as its name suggests, it for the purpose of AUDIO, some SIMPLE games? it's so dumb, i'll rather play my mobile phone's, which has color, and nicer to view.)
Further, the Zen comes with much more accessories than the ipods - velvet pouch, craddle + stand + belt clip + charger + USB cable + earphones. ipods don't come with chargers, i think. The charger is pretty expensi've S$69, and the earphones cost S$49 if bought separately.

  • Sync Micro Zen with WMP11 on Vi

Luckily b/c my MicroPhoto broke recently, I had updated the firmware on my old Micro Zen prior to getting Vista on my new laptop, so getting the computer to recognize my mp3 player is not a problem.
Since Creative hasn't updated a driver for Vista OS and I am unable to use the MediaSource Organizer, I have been trying to use WMP to upload tracks and create/edit playlists. I'm having trouble with this. Does anyone have any ideas or a site that can help with syncing?
    Thanks.

Use the 3.5 jack to connect thru the headphone jack use player as usual.

  • Have they changed the jack on the newer zen micro model? (4-6

have they? they fact that they do not recognize this as a defecti've product is horrible...Message Edited by helpmeplease on 04-03-2005 09:25 PM

I have had my Zen Micro for about 3 months now, and I never rip out the headphones, etc (I am very carefull with my electronics).
But today while I was using my player I noticed that the sound would cut in and out, and do other
distortions.. so I get home and try the Zen Micro with 3 other pairs of headphones (including the ones that came with it - I was using a 90 degree ear bud ones from Sony, they fit my ears better) and they all
do the same cutting in and out..
So I hit up these boards and see that I'm not the only one with this problem.
My question is (may have been answered before), what can I do about this? Am I going to have to RMA
it to Creative? Or are the newer models not having this problem (I have a service plan from where I bought it.. but if they are going to crap out too.. may as well send it to Creative and have them fix it on their cost, not mine)?
