This started yesterday when my app world was constantly freezing trying to download an app. I read online to simply delete and reinstall the app world.
Upon deleting it and attempting to reinstall I got the error message "Error: Invalid manifest or application descriptor.
The "MIDlet-Name" attribute is missing."
I have no idea what this means. Trying to look into it, reading through other peoples scenerios, I saw something that I thought would've maybe worked. Downgrading to OS 7.0.
I tried doing this via Desktop Manager to no avail. I then looked into wiping the OS from the device and reinstalling. Which didn't work either and almost bricked my phone.
I'm now back at OS 7.1 and still without the Blackberry World receiving the same error message.
I've tried battery pulls several times, soft resets, hard resets, everything I can think of.
H E L P M E P L E A S E!!! I love my Blackberry, but this is driving me to switch to another device.

Options > Device > Applications, scroll to BlackBerry AppWorld and delete it.
Do a simple reboot on the BlackBerry in this manner: With the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, remove the battery for a minute, and then reinsert the battery to reboot.
Now, using your BlackBerry browser, go to www.blackberry.com/appworld and download AppWorld again. It will update your BlackBerryID as well.

MIDlet-Name attribute is missing on bold9700

i just reinstalled a new os on my bold9700, but there is always the message whenever i try to update any app or even install them on my device: "Error: Invalid manifest or applicat descriptor." The "MIDlet-Name" attribute is missing i have tried every single trick and i'm in a jam right now can anyone help me resolve this issue. Thank you

I would suggest removing BlackBerry® App World from the BlackBerry® smartphone, then reload the BlackBerry® device software to repair any issues with the device.
Once you have completed the clean reload, then reinstall BlackBerry® App World from the Browser at www.BlackBerry.com/appworld.

Despite deleting appworld and bbm I tried to downloading them back on my curve9320 but it writes MIDlet-name attribute is missing. What can I do please help!

Have you tried a security wipe of the device?

I tried doing that with a couple of invoices but I dont see the Long text printed on the check after the automatic payment run. Can you please suggest me if I am missing on anything. I inserted a long text and a '*" before this to have it printed on the check which does not seem to work. Can you please suggest me alternative solution.

Trouble moving file after rename; can't get the new name, what's missing?

I know I'm missing a statement to redefine this_item after it has been renamed, but I'm too noobed to know how.
Files I drop into my layersRenameFolder do get renamed, but then the script fails with error (simplified) "can't get <name of pre-renamed file>"
So I'm struggling with how to reset the variable so finder knows the new name of the files to move them.
Note, the code is compilations of other scripts and others corrections. I don't claim to be the original author of any of it. Just trying to piece it together.

When you set the name of a file, the result is just the new name, not a full path. You can rebuild the file path by getting the containing folder and adding the resulting name, for example:

If you have an email account set up on your BlackBerry, you're going to receive notifications of new emails in the Notifications Bar; there's no two ways about it. You're able to selectively not receive LED notifications or audio notifications or even vibrations notifications but as long as the email account is active on your phone, you can't get around the Notifications Bar ones.

How can one use one specific security realm per application ? The realm-name attribute of the login-config tag of web.xml does not make any difference

I have different sets of users coming from different databases and using different
roles mapping for each of my web applications. I would like to configure a specific
security realm per application in my weblogic server 7.0 . Is it possible ?
I try to specify the realm-name of the login-config tag from the web-xml deployement
descriptor but it doesn't make any difference. The default realm is always used.
I also would like to tell the Weblogic server to use the default realm in case
the realm isn't specified or isn't found. For example, the default would contains
my admin users.

I thik this is a common mistake the ralm-name tag in the deployment descriptor is used
just by the browser for display purposes (when it opens the basic auth dialog box) so as
of now there is only 1 active realm which can have multiple providers as Kevin pointed
out

What's the use for "name" attribute?

Almost every object has a "name" attribute and "display name" attribute, e.g. page, tab, template.
What is the exact use of the name attribute. For my understanding, one of its use to is contruct a URL for the object. For example, when I want to add one item to a page, the shows me the path to the page is:
PAGE / HELLO_PAGE_GROUP / HELLO_PAGE / TAB37465 / TAB37469 /
TAB37465 is the name of the tab attribute. I realized this and went to change the name of the tab to a more meaningful value. However, when I try to add the item, the page Path did not change. Is this a oracle internal bug?
I have similar problem with navigation page. I published a navigation page as portlet. I changed the name of the navigation page and use the name as the portlet name, the new name of the portlet can not be reflected in the portlet repository.

1. I tried to add an item to the page within the tab. On the "add item" page, it shows me the path to the current page. Ok, Let's forget about "item", and just talk about the path to a tabbed page. The path/URL never changes, even after I change the tab "name" attribute.
2. I am talking about the name of the portlet within portlet repository. Let's see within page group A, I created navigation page with name of "test". I published the page as a portlet. In the portlet repository, I can see a new portlet "test" under "new/A". I changed navigation page name from "test" to be "B", however, the portlet name never changed in the portlet repository. When i browse the JNDI tree, i see the bean registered with the mapped name attribute (HWBean#test.IHelloWorldRemote) but i don't see any bean registered with the name provided by the weblogic-ejb-jar.xml (TOTO)
My standalone client can't perform a lookup using the JNDI name 'TOTO' but reaches the bean when using 'HWBean#test.IHelloWorldRemote'
It seem's that the overload of the Jndi name using the weblogic-ejb-jar file descriptor doesn't work.
Can you help me to solve the problem.

How to enable regex validation for display name attribute?

I need to put some control around the display name attribute (for all objects in the system). However, when I go to administration => schema management => all attributes => display name, I see the regular expression text field under validation
tab is disabled for display name. How can I enable this? I see there is already an MPR called "Administration - Schema: Administrators can change selected attributes of schema related resource" which is granting admins to change the schema of
the display name attribute, but it does not seem to help for the above scenario. Can someone please help?

Hi,
This is true for all attributes, not just Display Name. As long as an attribute has a non null value, you will not be able to change the regular expression of that attribute at the schema level.
I don't know if nullifying display attribute for all user objects (assuming you are talking about binding between Display Name and a Person/User object) is an option. If so, its worth considering.
If that is not an option, then assuming your data entry is coming from the FIM Portal and not any other external system like a custom portal, then you are ONLY left with regular expression validation at the RCDC level.
