The most annyoing issues of skype on android

1- the camera preview in video calls is too large that it hides most of the other person's face just compare the size of camera preview of skype and facebook messenger and facetime you will find that skype's one is almost three times bigger than any other seccessful app 2- It takes about 40 seconds to start ringing while other apps like fb messenger and whatsapp takes only 2 seconds 3- no ringtone customization at all which I hate 4- some messages won't appear as if they were lost and then after few messages and calls it appears 5- the status of my contacts if meaningless and my status even if I am not connected to the internet changes from away which is already meaningless to available !!!! 6- the profile pictures of my contacts doesn't appear unless we make a call or send a message7- to search for someone I can't see the result's pictures in the search result 8- if the other person is using a different orientation than mine ex. If I am using my phone in portrait mode and the other is landscape the imahe will be extremely zoomed in by default .. zooming is a good featuring but it should show the entire image unless the user want to zoom !!!

thanks for replyingbut double taping the video just swap remote/local video which obisiously makes my camera is much larger and the other person's camera is much smaller which makes it worse I just wanna see the other person's camera on most of the screen and see myself much smaller than now because I just wanna know that my camera is pointing in the right direction only and see the other person clearly and you can check this post it has more details http://community.skype.com/t5/Android/Hide-self-video-on-video-call/td-p/3380721/page/2    I know that you  recently changed the call startup behaviour to reflect the correct ringing on the remote end (which I have reported before too ) and it was really nice fix  but what I mean now is it takes too long to ring on the other side if the other person's skype was runing in the background  I really hope that there is a fix for the presence status issue because it has been an entire year without any fix for this issue  yes I am sure that the other person's profile picture is public .. you can search for anyone on skype for android and the results will be names with blank profile picture   and by telling you about the zoomed in camera in video calls I don't know If the text expressed what I wanna say or not but in case you need more informations I can record a video showing the issue

  • CS4, what are the most pressing issues and are they solved ???!!!

I'll be visiting the Adobe booth at the IBC on the 15-th to have a sneak preview of CS4.
To properly report back what I have seen, I need a short list of the most pressing issues and what interests you most to see solved or added. Just to name a few of the topics:
    1. 64 bit or 32 bit?
    2. Support for 64 bit OS and which ones?
    3. Matte problems solved? (BTW, what were the exact issues with mattes in CS3?)
    4. Titler improvements?
    5. What (new) video formats are supported natively?
    6. What significant improvements are made in integration in the Suite?
I'm not looking for a repeat of the wishlist, just the most important issues to have a look at.
    Looking forward to your suggestions.

Here is the news as I got it from one of the technicians and beta testers at the IBC, who showed some interesting things on the current beta version.
    1. The RTM version is not ready yet. It will definitely be this year, but it will not be out in September. Most likely is around November and not all promised features will be available in the 4.0 version, but will be supplied by downloadable patches.
    2. Interlacing/de-interlacing has not been solved. It is still the archaic approach from the '70-s era.
    3. Vista 64 is officially supported, XP 64 is not officially supported, but runs without problems. Several beta testers have not seen any problems with XP-64. All applications are still 32 bit applications, apart from PS Extended, which is 64 bit. Parts of the memory model are ported to 64 bit. The first steps to porting all applications to 64 bit have been taken, but do not expect full support before CS5.
    4. The major improvement has been in the project structure. Every project now has its own information about drive, directory and file structure as part of the project. Files in the project can have different properties in terms of resolution, i or p, so effectively this makes for Edius like capabilities, allowing for different sources in a single project, XDCAM-EX, HDV, AVCHD, P2 sources can be mixed and edited on the same timeline. You can move i material to a p timeline and edit from there.
    5. Adobe Media Encoder is now a separate application.
    6. Dynamic Linking has been improved significantly and encompasses AE, PP, EN in all directions.
    7. Batch processing has been added. You can now add timelines to a render cue and continue editing on the same timeline and there seems to be some intelligence behind it as well.
    8. OMF has been vastly improved.
    9. The garbage matte problems have been solved.
    10. Ultra is still a stand-alone application.
    11. Improvements have been made to Encore, whether that includes closing the DVD was not really known.
    12. Edit in Audition has been restored.
    13. AVCHD is supported, RED support will be added (possibly even for CS3). Note that even on a 4-core MAC the editing experience with AVCHD is tiresome and horrendously slow. You may succeed in editing that kind of material, but only with 8-cores. Otherwise it is like editing HDV on a P4 @ 2.8 GHz with a single disk. It can be done, but it is not a pleasure. The CPU requirements are enormous and IMO most will be heavily disappointed that they need to upgrade their PC before any serious editing can be done, despite all the warnings given.
    14. The titler has not been improved, but the strange windows problems (resizing) have been solved.
    15. Dependency on Red, MainConcept and others make the delivery dates unsure, but it will take some time and new patches are already being worked on.
    16. Adobe at IBC has only beta versions.
    17. One member here (I will not mention names) is probably the best beta tester Adobe has ever had and this person beats all other beta testers by a wide margin in finding bugs. Thanks for all your continued trouble, NN. You will know who I mean if you are the person in question. One of your colleague beta testers was in awe of you.
The stability and integration of the suite has been vastly improved and tons of bugs have been resolved, so from that point of view, upgrading to CS4 looks very worthwhile. Initially however, third parties have to resolve some issues with their software, like Sony with their Clip Browser, which contains a serious bug, causing PP to crash completely. These bugs need to be resolved shortly and hopefully will be addressed before the RTM version comes out.

  • Every single time i get the most annyoing error message!!

every single time i edit my code i ALWAYS get the error message:
    java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: main
    Exception in thread "main"
    Process completed.
    even though i dont edit the public static void main(String[] args) {
    why is this?

java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: mainThe problem is more likely to be in how you're executing the program than in the code itself.
Post your code, and complete instructions on how you build and execute. Beware that this is a Java Language forum, not an IDE help forum, but some people know some stuff, and don't mind passing it on, so you might get lucky.
If you get totally stuck my advise is to revert to compiling and building at the command line... which allows problems to be unambigiously communicated and therefore resolved "remotely".

  • So frustrated that updating software has lead to the most annoying issues I couldve avoided by NOT updating!!!!!!!!!!!!

I reallllllllllllllllllllllly wish someone could help me out with this. My contacts are not syncing with phone calls or text messages. Im only getting the phone# and when I try to add a contact from a text message that's already in my address book, it repeats the #, one under "mobile" and one under "iPhone". ***?!?! I'm never going to do a software update EVER AGAIN, how in the world does trying to help make your phone better make it worse?? I've tried the iCloud thing, I've tried turning it completely off then on again, I've tried just about everything I can think of and NOTHING is helping. I've made another appt. to speak with an Apple customer service rep, but got nowhere when I spoke with one yesterday. I'm hoping someone can help me out with this...everytime someone texts me, I have to try and figure out who it is, I try to go into my contacts and start a search with the area code, but that doesnt help me because it wont search with the # only the name...I'm beyond annoyed with this situation and would greatly appreciate anyone's help!

In earlier threads about other routers, this feature had to be disabled in order to log in:
orange Firefox button ''or'' Tools menu > Options > Security tab
''Uncheck'' "Tell web sites I do not want to be tracked"
But if it worked in Firefox 4, that probably isn't the problem...
Can you check whether turning off saving of passwords helps with that second part?
orange Firefox button ''or'' Tools menu > Options > Security tab
    ''Uncheck'' "Remember passwords for sites"
You also could try Firefox's Safe Mode.
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Close Firefox and... hold the Shift key and restart Firefox. When you get the initial dialog, don't reset anything. More info:
    [https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode Safe Mode].
    Does that improve the situation?
If all else fails, we might need help reviewing the bug fixes in Firefox 5 to see whether any might be related; it's a huge list:

  • Q&A with the team behind Skype for Android

Skype for Android is one of our most widely used mobile products. Over five hundred million installations of the app have taken place from the Play Store, so it has a lot of fans out there. That’s why the Skype Community wants to connect you with the people who make Skype for Android happen.
If you have questions about how the app works, what the team are working on at the moment, or what their favourite sandwich topping is, you’ll get a chance to ask them at our #SkypeFeedback live event.
To take part, all you need to do is head to the Android Live Event board which we’ve created for this, and post your Android-related questions there in preparation for the live event on 28/05/2015 at 5 PM GMT / 12 PM EST / 9 AM PST.
The event will last for 2 hours.
During the event the Skype for Android team will work through your pre-submitted questions, and we’ll add in questions that come through on Twitter using #SkypeFeedback. All questions and answers will be gathered in the Skype Community group for easy reading after the event.
This event with the team who are responsible for Skype for Android follows on from a previous event with the team that maintain Skype Support.
So even if you’re not an Android user, make sure to follow @SkypeSupport or keep an eye on the Skype Community for future events with other development teams at Skype.

  • Cannot shut off skype on android phone

How do you shut off skype from android phone.  I can't find any button to shut it off once it's on!

This thing has totally hijacked my phone.  I can not make any calls at all with my regular cell phone service.  Everytime I try it immediately opens skype and tries to dial from there.  I have hit the "sign out' button, that does not work.  I have pulled my battery out and sim card out, that doesn't work.  I have powered it off and on; that does not work.  I can not even call my provider to report the problem as it only goes to skype.  I do have the most current version of Skype; so that is not the issue either. there apparenly is not way to call anyone and get a live person for help????  I have tried everything.  This is a business phone and consequently has shut me down without it????  HELP.This is because you have set (by accident) Skype to be the default application for calls. To change this go in Settings, then Apps. You should be in a tab called "Downloaded." From there, scroll down until you see Skype. Click on Skype, scroll down and touch the "Clear defaults" button. Next time you'll dial make sure to select "Dialer" or something like that (and definitely NOT Skype) before clicking on "Always launch this app". I hope this helps. P.S.: As a follow up from my previous message, I have uninstalled Skype and stopped using it. I switched everything to Google Hangouts and Whatsapp.

  • I have the most recent version, but people tell me...

I am using Windows 7 with the most recent version of skype. 7.4.0.102. Some people cannot add me to group chats, and in any group chat I am added in I cannot talk or see messages. The only chats I can talk in I have to make. 1 on 1 chat works fine. It says "Instant messaging isn't currently available. This may be resolved shortly once the chat has updated, or the other person may be using an older version of Skype which does not support calling and IM at the same time." Everyone in the chat says they have the most current version. I have tried everything, from reinstalling skype, making an entireley new skype, force updating, changing my internet explorer to several different versions, changing privacy settings, etc.
I also cannot download pictures with the newer update. A warning sign comes up and says "This photo is unavailable."

I'm having the exact same problem and can't figure out how to solve it.

  • Was the Method of Collection for Skype Premium a S...

I have been a user of Skype since 2011, and have used it for single user to single user video conference calls only. In other words, I have never engaged in a group conference call, not ever.
Approximately 1.5 years ago, Skype repeatedly interfered with one of my single user to single user conference calls. A message was presented, and I'm paraphrasing... You must upgrade to Skype Premium to continue with this group call.
Group call. What group call? I had a client on the video conference, was embarrassed by the interruption, and agreed to pay to continue to keep the video conference going. Upon entering payment information, another window appeared, interfering yet further with my video conference. This second window required me to register for free long distance to a foreign country. As a matter of fact, I could NOT continue with the video conference until I acquiesced to the demand of the prompt. Reluctantly, I selected the UK plan.
Today, 22 May 2014, I was refunded the most recent charge on my credit card via Skype, and was told to contact customer support for an explanation. Yep, just as easy as getting President Obama on the phone.
After initiating chat support lasting for one hour, I was infomed that single user to single user video conferencing was, is now, and always will be FREE. I inquired as to the nature of the $120 per year charge for the past 1.5 years, and was told by Kristina G. the charges were for the UK calling plan. When I told her that I knew no one in the UK, nor did I ever place or need to place a call in the UK, she became rather annoyed.
I still don't know with certainty what happened, however here is my PERCEPTION [noun] the act or faculty of perceiving, or apprehending by means of the senses or of the mind; cognition; understanding.
Due to a system glitch or clear intent, Skype allegedly halted the FREE service of users making frequent single user to single user video calls, insisting that such users pay for Skype Premium to permit them to continue using the FREE service. This was allegedly done under the guise of enabling multi-user conference calls when no such calls were being made. To cover their tracks, Skype allegedly offered a free foreign calling plan to any/all users having registered for Skpe Premium.
Once caught in the act of alleged fraud, Skype refunded the most recent payment for Skype Premium, allegedly figuring that such a refund would thrill allegedly scammed users, and thereby prevent inquiries into previous service paid for.
What I perceive is irrelevant. What you perceive after reading the transcript is all that is relevant. Did or did not Skpe engage in alleged fraudulent methods of collecting fees from people under the guise of alleged alternative service they would never use?
Due to 20,000 character limit, I'm unable to post the juicy transcript supporting this perception.

    Norman,
All my software is updated the very day each new patch or update is released. Having a Ph.D. and a J.D. whilst teaching and conducting research at a major university, I am aware of the importance of updating systems and software.
Updates are most certainly not part of this problem.
Please let me pose a hypothetical scenario to you.
Let's presume you've purchased software you saw advertised on the internet wherein clear and unambiguous claims were made. Once you paid for and installed the software, you're greeted with a message indicating you must pay a 20-fold upgrade fee to use the features. You're facing a deadline. What do you do? The upgrade was not part of the advert for the product, yet you will not be permitted to use the product until you pay the fee.
This is the problem, and everyone knows it. Skype is in error here. They never presented me with the choice of paying for a long distance plan for a fee. Rather they demanded that I pay to upgrade to Skype Premium if I wished to continue with my << free >> single-Skype-user to single-Skype-user video conference. Once I paid the "ransom," they offered me a complimentary long distance plan however offered me no choice in selecting it.
Back where I earned my Ph.D., we call that extortion, and it's never legal.
    Dr. Esq

  • Most recent issue

Situation: A customer subscribes to an iTunes subscription. Does he get the moste recent issue of the magazine even this issue was published before starting the subscription? Or what would be the solution here to get the most currenct issue when you buy a subscription?
    Thanks
    Haeme

Haeme, when a subscription is purchased the most recent issue will be granted to the user, even if the publication date is before the purchase date of the subscription.

  • Any chance for the "away" and "busy" statuses to make it back into Skype for Android?

I recently realized that the new (well new as of early July) Skype for Android is missing the "away" and "busy" statuses (and perhaps some other one as well). I've seen other users around this forum mentioning the same thing, but it's unclear to me whether this was done intentionally or not. Are there any chances for these statuses to be added back? And if not what has been reasoning behind the decision of taking them out? - Adriano

There is another topic, addressing this issue and also explaining it pretty good:http://community.skype.com/t5/Android/Regression-in-4-0-Away-and-Busy-statuses-not-visible/td-p/1729768Unfortunately it doesn’t have much kudos either, even though it is pretty old. The worst about it is, that you aren’t even able to see the real status of your contacts:                Contacts who have their status set to “away” are shown as online.                Contacts who have it set to “busy” are shown as offline. (Which is even worse…)This simply can’t be intentional.  Also.. It's been possible in older skype versions for android, it's also possible on ios.. So where is the need to get rid of the busy/away status in the new android version?

  • Android 2.2 update coming in early September- Will it address the email notification issues??

The upcoming Android 2.2 update for Droid X. Will this update address the email notifications issues?? I don't have a corporate email account, but use my Droid X for my personal business. I love this phone but the email is annoying. The emails are not coming through quick enough, I don't get notified when new email arrives. I have to do a refresh to lear that I have new emails in my inbox.
I want like to know if the upcoming 2.2 update will address these issues for personal email like aol, yahoo etc. I know they mentioned something about exchange servers being faster. This is a disappointment for me, I thought I have push email with Droid X but not really. Can Verizon comment on this?
    Thanks,

I did all those, ie. set my email config to push email, battery on performance mode, check my outgoing and incoming servers and ports. All are corect settings, I even configured all my aol accounts with gmail settings to see if that would work but still not getting push emails. I even did a factory reset. I know this is an issue because I also checked Motorola support forums, a lot people were experiencing what I am going except that I think most them have corporate email and exchange issues.
I don't know whether this could be addressed with the upcoming 2.2 update not just for corporate but personal emails as well, VERIZON ? Motorola??
    Thanks

Since purchasing the Note 3 in October i have had nothing but issues. I went through all the steps and eventually I was sent a different phone, which was working for the most part until the recent upgrade. Now I am back to the old issues, no service, it actually says not moblie network available, when everyone else in my family has coverage and are on my plan with iphones. I am missing text messages and dropping calls left and right. This is unacceptable for the cost of this phone and my service. I have did a hard reset etc. What else can I do??

Use the trackpad to scroll, thats what it was designed for. The scroll bars automatically disappear when not being used and will appear if you scroll up or down using the trackpad.
This is a user-to-user forum and most people will post on here if they have problems. You very rarely get people posting to say there update went smooth. The fact is the vast majority of Mountain Lion users will not be experiencing any major problems with the OS, or maybe with apps which are not compatible, but thats hardly Apple's fault if developers don't update their apps.

  • TS1702 Is anyone else having issues with the most recent Facebook update? I updated it yesterday and now it won't open. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app, but it still fails to open! Any suggestions?

Is anyone else having issues with the most recent Facebook app update? I updated it on my iPad 2 yesterday, now it will not open app at all. I have restarted iPad, uninstalled app and reinstalled, several times and still it will not work! Any suggestions? I have also closed the append still no results!

I just started having this yesterday.  It's only happened twice, but it's annoying.  My wife texted me that she was coming home last night, and it showed up immediately on my iPod Touch but not my iPhone. I opened my iPhone and it soon updated.  Worked fine after that.  Then just a moment ago today my wife texted me and the same thing happened.  I heard my iMac and iPod Touch receive the message but it didn't display on my phone until I opened the phone and it showed up again a little bit thereafter.  I suppose I'll send Apple some feedback on this issue.

  • The top 7 main issues in skype that has to be fix...

1- it takes too long to actually start ringing on the other person's device or in another way it takes too lonh saying connecting before starting to ring
2- the status of contacts are meaningless specially the away status which doesn't indicate anything and it doesn't indicate if the other person is actually connected to the internet or not 3- app is too slow it takes too long to open and load
4- while I am offline if someone sent me several messages I won't get some of them they will be lost I don't know why
5- if I am offline and some one sent me a message or called me once I get connected to the internet again it doesn't show a notification in the notification bar
6- there in no option to choose a custom ringtone for messages and calls
7- there is no delieverd sign for messages
I guess that everybody knows that facebook messenger is adding video calling feature to the messenger if skype didn't fix all the bugs and issues ASAP everyone is gonna use facebook messenger instead because we aren't satisfied with how skype works nowadays and those are some of the main issues not all of them

Oh I forgot . it uses a very high bandwidth during video calls it is a main issue to anyone using mobile data

  • Some of the most annoying SJC issues:

As I promised I will post some bugs I found. Will start from the most annoying for me:
    1. Visual designer does not show JSPF fragment components inside GridPanel or GroupPanel. This is just a terrible issue.
    2. CSS cannot be be assigned to JSPF during design time. I understand that JSPFs use CSS of the container page in run time but how am I going to design JSPF without CSS? Do I have to always go to the container page and preview how JSPF really looks? Sometimes when I get back from the container to JSPF it retains the styling but after refresh it gets absolutely styless again.
    3. If I am binding the "Rendered" property of a component (such as grid panel), it disappears from the visual designer (after you click refresh) and will never reappear until you unbind it.

    (1) VIsual designer does not show JSPF fragment inside GridPanel or GroupPanel: The reason this happens is that GridPanel and GroupPanel are JSF components which encode their own children; you can't put plan markup as direct children of these components (you can't do that for data table either). And a page fragment is going to be an HTML fragment; usually a <div> (look at the JSP source of your fragment). We should try to handle this better; at a minimum preventing the drop (since it doesn't work) but better yet try to fix it if we can. An< f:verbatim> here isn't what you want (this is how you can usually embed html in encoding-children components) because you don't want the JSF children of your html tag inserted verbatim. Somebody in support, can you file an issue to track this one please?
    (2) CSS in fragments: That's a reasonable request. The reason it's not shown there is as you suspected; fragments don't have their own stylesheets (stylesheets can only be added to html documents in the <head> section, and fragments are portions of <body>.)
Also, in addition to not knowing which stylesheets are in pages that might include the fragments, we also don't know the context; when you see a fragment included in another page it doesn't just pick up styles from the stylesheets but from the context too (for example, a font-size: 48pt setting on a containing element will inherit right into the fragment). Thus, the fragment needs to know the exact element context it should use too.
If there are multiple pages including the fragment, they might use the same stylesheet if we're lucky, but the fragments will almost certainly have different style element contexts.
As you've noticed, the fragments already show the styling of the last page they were rendered as part of. This is a side effect of model sharing, and it's a bug I didn't think important to fix since it's sometimes nice ;-)
However, I can see the argument that in some cases, especially if a fragment is included by only pages with the same stylesheet, it would be nice to apply those styles in the fragments too, even if it won't correctly include other style contexts from the pages. That's a reasonable request.
    (3) Rendered value binding: I agree, we should special case this to make sure rendered is considered true at designtime. I've gotta investigate how that works with some layout components though (like card layout) which I think relies on this (hiding all but one at design time)).
