The most insane thing started happening out of the blue with my Macbook.

I can barely type two or three letters without, all of a sudden, totally randomly, the dashboard coming up on screen. I don't click anything, I have no mouse...it just comes out of nowhere.
It's making me insane.
I've looked online and can't find any solutions. Help, please, before I lose my mind.

Try going to your System Preferences, Keyboard & Mouse>Keyboard Shortcuts> find the Dock, Expose, Dashboard and click on the little triangle. You should see the different Keyboard shortcut for different functions. Un-check the Dashboard and see what happens.

Just to recap, this is a collection of ports I have collected over time for people who needed this information when setting up the HP ePrint app so that they could view their email from within the app.  I am certain other applications also need this information.  Although lengthy, I could not find a more comprehensive place to retrieve this information.  Feel free to post additional information, faulty information, or other related topics below as this is simply a collection of data and it would be practically impossible to test all of them. Thank you!
Don't forgot to say thanks by giving "Kudos" if I helped solve your problem.

  • I updated to FF4 and after a few days, strange things started happening. How do I recover to normal?

I updated to FF4 and after a few days, strange things started happening.
The groups I had set up disappeared and the Group button is gone.
When I first open the app, it opens 8 - 12 separate windows with 1 blank tab. The orange Firefox button is there with nothing else on that bar. Also, 3 tool bars are blank (i.e. space is there but it's just grey) with NO buttons.
If I want my previously opened tabs, I have to use the "Recently Closed windows" option to get back to where I was when I last closed down. The orange Firefox button is missing from this window but all the original menu items are back across the top.
So how do I get back to the way it is supposed to operate?

  • If I use the remote with two macbooks in the same room both of them answer

If I use the remote with two macbooks in the same room, the two of them answer. So if the person sitting near me is doing something else I interrupt them... this is quite annoying!
Does anyone know how to solve this? Should I report it as a bug? Where?

    Hi Carito,
It is not a bug, all you have to do is pairing them.

The file format used by the iOS versions of the iWork apps can only be read by the new iWork apps on your Mac - i.e. Keynote 6, Pages 5 & Numbers 3. Those versions for the Mac require Mavericks, OS X 10.9. The "too old" error on a Mac comes if you are trying to open an iWork '08 or earlier file in the newest apps. If you do have the newest apps you can open the files from your iPad.
If you can't or don't want to upgrade to Mavericks & the newest iWork apps your best option would be to export/share the files from the iPad to a type an older version of iWork can read such as Word, text, Excel, etc.
Or contact AppleCare. They made this mess, let them fix it.

  • Out-of-the-blue (weird) problems: MacBook & Airport

Everything has been working fine with my wi-fi network for going on two years I guess. Then... out-of-the-blue problems...
The major problem is getting online from my MacBook Pro... at first everytime I signed on I'd be asked for the password... then a connection error popup would come up... Now my MacBook gets signal from the Base Station, but I can't use a browser or Mail...
Everything appears fine at the Base Station... it's connected to a G4 and I can web browse and see mail there...
I disconnected the Airport Express which boosts the signal downstairs... no matter what I did, it just seemed to complicate matters...
Have looked for and used (as best I could) the tech dox I could find, but few seem to relate directly to this sort of problem...
Any ideas would be gratefully received! Thanks.
    Cat

Ok, if you don't mind, let's start from scratch.
Let's start by connecting your MacBook directly, using an Ethernet cable, to your Cable modem. Can you access the Internet now? If so, perform a "hard reset" on your AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS), and a "factory default reset" on your AirPort Express Base Station (AX).
    Then, let's setup the AEBS...
    Modem/Router Power ReCycling
o Power-off the Cable modem, AEBS, & computer(s); Wait for at least 5 minutes.
o Connect the modem, using an Ethernet cable to the WAN port of the AEBS.
o Power-on the Cable modem; Wait at least 15 minutes.
o Power-on the AEBS; Wait at least 5 minutes.
    o Power-on the computer(s)
    Setup the AEBS
Temporarily, connect your computer directly (using an Ethernet cable) to the LAN port of the AEBS, and then, check these settings:
    AirPort tab
o Base Station Name: <whatever you wish or use the default>
o AirPort Network Name: <whatever you wish or use the default>
o Create a closed network (unchecked)
    o Wireless Security: Not enabled
    o Channel: Automatic
    o Mode: 802.11b/g Compatible
    Internet tab
    o Connect Using: Ethernet
    o Configure: Using DHCP
    o WAN Ethernet Port: Automatic
    Network tab
    o Distribute IP addresses (checked)
o Share a single IP address (using DHCP & NAT) (enabled)
Click Apply and allow at least 5 minutes to allow the AEBS to restart. Once restarted, and while your computer is still connected to the AEBS's LAN port, try to access the Internet. Successful?

  • The Problems With My MacBook Pro...

Here is the list of problems that I have found with my MacBook Pro.
    1. My screen is defective, it is much darker in the middle compared to the outside vertical edges.
    2. There are three sources of a whine.
    a. The processor - when one core is turned off the whine fromt he CPU stops
    b. The screen - when the brightness is turned off then the hum from the screen stops
    c. The fans - there is a small hiss from the fans only when they are on, this is not very loud nor is it much of a problem if the other two were fixed.
    3. The speakers are distorted at all volumes
    4. When doing a video chat or playing a game aka Doom 3 the sound only comes out of the right speaker and it sounds terrible.
These are the current issues that I am having with my MacBook Pro.

"The fans - there is a small hiss from the fans only when they are on, this is not very loud nor is it much of a problem if the other two were fixed."
    fans make noise. generally speaking.

when I tried to sync my iphone 4s to my mac book today a notification came up saying that the sunc could not be done as the sync session failed to start.

    Penelope ...
Your profile indicates your Mac has v10.8.3 installed.
If that is correct, updating your system software may help the sync issue.
Click Software Update from your Apple menu  or open System Preferences > Software Update then click Check Now.
Make sure to restart your Mac after updates are installed then try syncing your iPhone.

  • I need help figuring out what is wrong with my Macbook Pro

I have a mid 2012 Macbook Pro with OS X Mavericks on it and for the past few weeks it has running VERY SLOW! I have no idea what is wrong with it, i have read other discussion forums trying to figure it out on my own. So far i have had no luck in fixing the slowness. When i open applications the icon will bounce in dock forever before opening and then my computer will freeze with the little rainbow wheel circling and circling for a few minutes... and if i try to browse websites it take forever for them to load or youtube will just stop working for me. Everything i do, no matter what i click, the rainbow wheel will pop up! The only thing i can think of messing it up was a friend of mine plugging in a flash drive a few weeks ago to take some videos and imovie to put on his Macbook Pro, he has said his laptop has been running fine though... so idk if that was the problem. Anyways, could someone please help me try something? Thank you!!

I have adobe reader installed on my Macbook Pro and also Adobe flashplayer installed. I am not anble to see any video from the net, news feeds, or anything like that on my computer. I cannot print off certificates that I need all it does when I attempt to print the certificate is that it shows that it is loading and comes back and tells me there was an error in loading the information. • Starting Failed Data Migration Over Again With New Macbook Pro

I just purchased a new Macbook Pro. Upon transferring files from an old Macbook via a backup and Time machine, the startup screen on the new Macbook Pro now  just shows white and a spinning disk. I can't even get a normal desktop.
1.New Macbook Pros do not have installation disks in the box. How do I get back to the welcome setup screen and start over when the migration did not work?

my macbook screen change to blue screen when i'm browsing. why it can happened? and how to solve that problem?
    thanks

You need to buy Mac OS X 10.7 or 10.8 from the Mac App Store. If your computer doesn't meet the system requirements for Mac OS X 10.8 and has a Core 2 Duo or better CPU, phone the online Apple Store and order a download code for Mac OS X 10.7.
