The mouse and the trackpad are obsolete, Capacitive touchscreen the way ?

My shoulders ache and my hand cramps all because of these 2 legacy devices.
The touch screen on the Ipad and on other devices like Nintendo DSI, Paceblade PaceBook, Even the humble hardworking automativ teller at Tescos all do the job in a more straightforward and accessible way.
Is it posible to use the new link that disp;ays the ipad screen on a big display 2 ways so that the scomputer monitor can display on the ipad and respond to touch screen commands from the ipad screen?

I had to rush earlier, but what i have noticed is that cloud computing gives me exactly that functionality i want between the ipad and my desktop, so i know it can be done in that way through an app.
Is there an app that already does this? By this i mean links screen to touchscreen so touch screen can control the desktop, making a trackpad and mouse obsolete?

  • Why do my mouse and my trackpad not react after a few minutes? I always have to reboot after a few minutes. And I just cleaned the Macbook, so just a fresh Mountain Lion is on the computer.

I had problem with my Macbook (End 2008). It grabbed everything, when I was moving over it with the mouse. And left stuff somewhere else.
So I decided to clean the MacBook and I just put a new system on it, after a new Mountain Lion. Nothing else.
Now the external mouse and the trackpad work after a restart.
But after minutes the trackpad is still moving the mouse over the screen, but I can´t click anything.
    Not even with my mouse.
    What is wrong?

Try going to Starbucks and connect thru their WiFi and see if you experience same issue. If not, it may be your wireless router not compatible to wireless-N built in the macbook pro. It could be your router cycling on and off its connection without even noticing it.  Do you have any other wifi at home that doesn't experience this issue?
You need to do process of elimination. Keep us posted. Thanks!

  • Driver to recognize usb mouse AND disable trackpad for gt780DX

I have updated the trackpad as much as I can but my cursor still jumps inadvertently to other areas of text while I am typing. I know several other branded laptops have the ability to automatically disable the trackpad when a usb mouse is plugged in. Does anyone know of such a driver for the msi gt780DX? There is no current function to do this and its incredibly annoying and happens daily... Thanks...

You didn't mention XP after this, so that and the thread title led me to believe that the problem only occurred in ME. I don't mean to be a jerk, but your initial post wasn't all that clear. And hey, man, I don't "blame" you--it's your hardware and it's yours to do as you please with. I see suspend/resume as a fairly trivial feature; thus, it just seemed to me that replacing a good (in my experience) mobo to fix it was a fairly drastic and costly measure. I was merely trying to help. Best of luck with the new mobo.

  • Apple bluetooth keyboard and Magic Trackpad are sluggish and constantly disconnecting - I'm in pain

    Dear Apple,
Bluetooth issues are damaging my job as I rely on external display and periphery.
The connection is not interrupted too often like it was before 10.10.3,
but it still does, and when it doesn’t - the performance is very sluggish.
If you can’t make bluetooth work, could you please give us wired options for smaller keyboard and magic trackpad?
    Thanks.

Please open the Network preference pane and delete any Bluetooth items from the service list. Apply the changes and see whether there's an improvement.

Mouse and trackpad--no response to right click. Left click will open a list but take no action. Tried several mice with same results. Any help that could be given would be great. Thanks, Stan

  • XCOPY and ROBOCOPY commands are OBSOLETE?

Okay, I've talked to a couple of TechNet Support Agents and scoured google, bing, and the TechNet forums to no avail.
Apparently, my situation is so different that it's impossible to fix unless I use some sophisticated script and such.
    My problem:
I need to copy all the folders in a Directory, while excluding everything else (e.g. subfolders and files). In basic terms, just need empty folders with names of all the folders you would see in one directory, and by "folders" I mean just the ones
you see in the root level of that directory. In layman terms, I want all the main folders from one folder (without their contents) copied to another.
Apparently, xcopy and robocopy commands are somewhat broken in Windows 8.1
Also, I'm not going to be making a new folder of each from scratch, because there's about a hundred of them and each have long names to type in. As for subfolders, there's about 5k of them which is what I'm trying to avoid (not sure if mentioning this
    is relevant or not).
the xcopy /t command still copies all subfolders (of course /xf * is needed but I need something else for the subfolders). Robocopy /LEV:0 or 1 doesn't do jack for avoiding subfolders either.
I wonder if there's a script someone knows about that I can use with a batch file to do what I want?

Never mind, I solved my problem after reading about a similar issue on superuser.com
It turned out to be a robocopy command combination: robocopy [source] [destination] /e /create /lev:2 /xf *

  • Can the magic mouse and magic trackpad be used together

Having just purchased a new iMac with a wireless keyboard and magic mouse, I want to add a keypad and I'm looking at purchasing the Magic Trackpad with the Mobee Magic Numpad overlay (and connecting it to the keyboard with the Twelve South Magic Wand).
What I need to know is - if using the Magic Trackpad, can I still use the Magic Mouse at the same or must it be one or the other (would there be any conflicts)?

Yes, they can both be enabled at the same time as can the keyboard.

  • So am I correct in assuming that all of the Ipod touch 1st and 2nd gen are obsolete?

I can't seem to download any apps for my second generation ipod touch. I have looked on forums and searched the internet on what to do with no avail. Please do not send me any messages saying that I cannot go any higher than iOS 4.2.1 because I know this and you will be wasting my time. Basically my question is what do the people do that own older ipods? Do we simply toss them out? I think that this is a little ridiculous, I paid for a product that I can no longer use simply because it is older.

"Do we simply toss them out?"
    No.
"I think that this is a little ridiculous"
Since you don't just "throw them out", there is no "ridiculousness".
"I paid for a product that I can no longer use simply because it is older."
Baloney.  You can use the product, until it's no longer operational.  If it breaks, you can have it repaired outside of the warranty.

  • Swipe between pages feature is freezing with magic mouse and magic trackpad in Mavericks

I am experiencing a bug in Mavericks with my Magic trackpad and the Magic mouse. This bug comes and goes and is very sporadic. When it happens I am usually in a browser like Firefox or Safari, or in iPhoto. Anything that uses the Swipe between pages feature usually locks up, and  on top of this it locks the scroling up and down function in the browsers and in iPhoto. The only thing that makes these functions work again is to reeboot or turn off bluetooth and turn it back on. I see that many people are having this problem in other posts, and I am just wondering if Apple is actually working on this bug or has somebody found what trigers this bug and do they have the fix for it?
    Thanks for your help
    Chris

Maybe this will help. You can look for other ideas in the 'More Like This' box to the right.

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

  • TS3048 Right click on Mighty Mouse and Wireless Keyboard are not working

I have a 24" iMac, early 2009  Lion,10.7.5.  My wireless keyboard and mighty mouse are not working properly. Wireless keyboard- I can turn it on and it will ask me to pair it with the Blue Tooth.  I cannot log the numbers in - I even tried logging them in with my wired keyboard device (which is an Apple keyboard).
My Mighty Mouse's right click stopped working as well.
I have gone through all of the troubleshooting steps-
New Batteries - Cleared Blue tooth preferences list, repaired permissions, Cleared cache, Made sure that the settings were correct ex: key was not checked on mouse, Removed both devises (keyboard, and mouse) from blue tooth and allowed them to be discovered again, PRAM reset, Hardware check/ reset, and lastly, Reinstall of OSX.
I am still having the same issue with both devices.
    Thank you.

This is why you should always have a wired keyboard and mouse as backups.
Try smc and hope for the best.
I'd also suggest pram reset but you need the keyboard for that.

  • TS3048 I can't log in the mouse and keyboard are not paired to computer

  • TS3048 My keyboard will connect wirelessly but my mouse will not. I've put new batteries in the mouse and the green light is blinking but it just won't connect!!! I don't have a 'wired' mouse so I can't get into preferences etc!!! Pls help

My keyboard will connect wirelessly but my mouse will not. I have tried many times, put new batteries in etc. The Bluetooth appears to be on (as the wireless keyboard is working). I don't have a 'wired' mouse so I can't get into preferences etc. Is the mouse dead perhaps? The green light is flickering so it should be ok???
    Thank you for your help
    Sully (frustrated Irishman)

From what you say I would suggest the batteries are not connecting properly.
First, thoroughly clean all contacts, both inside the mouse and the contact points of the batteries.  Use an alcohol based cleaner (whisky will do, hic!)  dampen (not wet) cotton buds for cleaning.
Then check to see if they fit firmly.   If you can shake your mouse and hear things are loose, that will be the batteries.   Check the make.   Apple and Duracell, in that order, are the best batteries.   Where slight undersizing has been reported they are with other than the foregoing.
You can resolve the size problem with appropriate packing but that will always be a makeshift solution.  After, reassemble, turn on the mouse and with luck, away you go.
Hopefully this will solve your problem but in any case let us know how you get on.

  • I bought apple magic mouse and trying to pare it with mac book pro but it says the devise doesn't have necessary services also when if I try to pare it again in 5 mins it says error in connecting ...please help

    please help

It sounds like you have assigned the primary click on the trackpad to something else, perhaps a gesture.
Use your mouse, login and then open the Trackpad preference pane and see how you have the interface configured.
Oh and you can have both the Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad powered up and working at the same time. No need to keep moving batteries around.

  • Mouse pointer lag (trackpad and mouse)

    Hi all,
I recently purchased a MacBookPro 13 inch for my work. It's the i7 version wth 8 gig of ram with mountain lion installed.
I have some major problems with both my mouse and my trackpad. The cursor has a lot of lag, it kind of make stutter and jumps. I tried multipe input devices and also on different computers. First I thought it was the mouse, but even the trackpad has the same problem! Should I bring back my laptop? I can't work like this.
I figured out that whenever there is some IO happening, the lagging will get worse. I tried a wireless mouse, wired mouse . . . nothing helped.
    Anyone here got a solution?
    Thanks

I have the same problem on my iMac using a usb wired mouse.  The mouse worked fine with Lion, but the pointer is "sticky" with Mountain Lion.  Seems to work fine for a while after a reboot or unplug/plug cycle of the mouse, but after a day or so the problem returns.  I have been searching here for a solution, but have found none yet. Sounds like a software issue that Apple needs to find and fix.
Otherwise, have to treat my Mac like a Windows machine and do a daily preventive reboot...

  • How can I use a different scroll setting for my mouse and my track pad?

I'd like to be able to hook a mouse up to Macbook Air and have it scroll properly, without breaking the scroll direction on its trackpad (or my magic pad). In other words, I want to disable "Move content in the direction of finger movement when scrolling" for mice, and enable "Scroll direction: natural" for trackpads. These seem to be the same setting, though, as checking/unchecking one has the same effect on the other.
How can I do this, as I'd love to be able to easily switch to a mouse, without having to mentally reverse the direction of the scroll wheel.

    Go to System>Preferences>Mouse>Point & Click and System>Preferences>Trackpad>Scroll & Zoom.
The each have their own scroll directions setting.
I use both a mouse and a trackpad and have the exact settings you're looking for.
