The music in my iTunes library won't sync to my iPod touch

I have a 32 GB 3rd iPod touch. And earlier after I had finished downloading some new music, I tried to sync my iPod. First it told me I had to restore my iPod, because it couldn't be read. I did. And three hours later, it was done. So once again, I plugged my iPod up to my PC with a USB, and tried syncing again. The first few times it told me it couldn't start a session, or something along the lines of that (Was on the phone when this popped up, so I was a bit distracted, and don't quite remember what it said). So I restarted my iPod, closed out iTunes, restarted iTunes, and tried again.
Now I can click sync, it will read my iPod, and it won't give me an error, and it will go through the syncing process, and then finish. But my music still won't show up on my iPod. And the bar next to 'Capacity' keeps changing.
For an example:
Before sync it will say:
Capacity -  28.36 GB
Audio - 0.01 GB
And then everything else.
During the sync the audio goes up to 4 GB, and after the sync it's back to 0.01, and there is still no music on my iPod.
I have it set to sync the entire music library, I've tried resetting all settings, it's been restored (And then restarted, so has iTunes), and I have tried multiple times. I have no idea what's going on, and it's really irritating. Any help would be appreciated!

  • Just upgraded to ios 6 and newest itunes (first time for  4g ipod touch I've had for years).  After the restore, it no longer syncs when plugged in. My music is in itunes, but won't sync to my ipod.

Please help.  I finally gave in to updating software because my apps wouldn't update without io5.  I ensured all of my music and apps and pictures were listed on  my iTunes so that when it restored it would all sync back.  Well, my ipod is restored, and my pictures are moved over, but my apps are not.  I guess I can go and re-install individually, but what is the purpose of having them on iTunes??  Also, NONE of my  music is on my ipod and there does not seem to be a way to move it from iTunes.
Also, at the top right of iTunes where it has the spots for Library and iPod Touch.  If I click on the iPod, the icon just disappears!  iTunes used to have a column on the left side that listed my ipod and I could move things to it (like my music).  Is this how the new version is or am I just missing something?
I am so frustrated right now after spending hours....

    Ignore.  I figured it out:)

  • How can my daughter download her music from my itunes library without it syncing to my ipod

My daughter doesn't have her own laptop and wants to use mine to download music from itunes to her ipod.  I currently have itunes downloaded which contains my playlists etc but is it possible to download her music to the same itunes without her music automatically syncing to my ipod (and without my music syncing to her ipod)?  I've created a new library which I thought might do it but it still contains my albums (though not my playlists).  Is this the right way to do it or is there another way?

Plug the device into the computer.
Select the content desired to sync.
    Sync.
iTunes remembers what to sync to the device based on the device ID.

While you're correct in that Windows media won't sync to the iPhone (or any i-device), the OP states that all the music is in iTunes.  If its in iTunes, it would no longer be in Windows media format since it would have been transcoded to whatever the user sets as their import preference (AAC, mp3, etc.), and once that is done then the media should be able to sync to the iPhone just fine.
To Steph, do the missing songs play OK in iTunes? If not then they could be corrupted in some way.  If they play fine in iTunes but don't sync, are they unchecked in iTunes? They won't sync to your iPhone if it is set to ignore unchecked items.  Finally, if these are iTunes purchases, are they protected format? (i.e. m4p files)  If so, is your computer authorized to play them? (you'd know if you try to play them in iTunes, it would prompt you for the account password if not authorized)

How do I move the music from my iTunes library on my desktop computer to my iPad?

Connect the iPad to your computer and select it on the left-hand sidebar of your computer's iTunes (if you have iTunes 11 on your computer then you can enable the left-hand sidebar via control-S on a PC, option-command-S on a Mac), and then use the Music tab on the right-hand side of iTunes to select which of your iTunes music to sync to the iPad's Music app

  • How do I refresh the music in my itunes library?

How do I refresh the music in my itunes library?  After several days of ripping cd's, merging numerous libraries, and deleting a ton of duplicates, I basically need itunes to start fresh.  Suggestions?

Well you could just delete everything from iTunes, without deleting the files, and then import the media folder. Or you could delete the iTunes Library.itl file and let iTunes scan your media when it starts up. Or you could use iTunes Folder Watch with its option to Check for dead tracks on startup selected.
In general it is easier to use iTunes to manage the media folder rather than manipulating things by hand and then getting iTunes to play catch up. I have a script called DeDuper for automatic deduping, see this thread for background

  • My iPhone automatically shuffles all the music in my iTunes library.

Hi, I have a problme with my iPhone (OS 6.0.1) music app.
It automatically shuffles all the musics in my iTunes library no matter what I do. In addition, when I push the "forward skip" bottun, the music app will jump to other song, not the next song, as it likes.  This means that my music app cannot play all the albums in my ITunes Library in proper order.
I want to listen to musics in proper order.  Is there any solution to fix this problem?  Other devices are working properly.

Yes.  See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer on different ways to copy music from your iPod to your PC.

I would suggest the manual method over using 3rd party software, but the choice is entirely yours.

  • HT1222 The music in my iTunes library run together and play at the same time.

The music in my iTunes library run together andplay at the same time.

The "bar" at the bottom does not say anything about all of your songs being on the iPod.  It just shows you how much of its storage capacity is being used, based on what is on the iPod.
If you see "On This iPod," that means the iTunes sidebar (along left side of window) is not visible.  This is easier to describe with the sidebar visible, so from the iTunes menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.
Select the iPod in the sidebar, under DEVICES.  There is a bar of buttons near the top, starting with Summary.  Click on Music next to Summary.  This is the iPod's Music screen, where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to the iPod.
Check the box for Sync Music.  You can choose to sync Entire music library, if (?) your iTunes music library fits on the iPod.  With this setting, your entire iTunes music library syncs to the iPod, and new songs get synced automatically.  A 7th gen iPod nano is 16GB, so your iTunes music library would have to be less than 16GB (not counting non-music content on the iPod).  Otherwise, you can choose to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  Then, select (checkmark) the playlists, artists, albums, and/or genres you want on the iPod from the lists below.  If you want newly added songs to sync to the iPod, they must be part of your selection.  For example, you can add them to a playlist that you have selected for syncing to the iPod.
When you click Apply, the songs from your selection sync to the iPod.  Going forward, changes to your iTunes library (based on your settings on the iPod's Music screen) sync automatically to the iPod, the next time it is connected (or when you click Sync).
