The Mute button doesn't work in the browser

I Have the mute button on most of the time cause i don't want to hear alerts, but noticed that in the browser if a webpage has any type of sound it plays it regardless of the status of the mute button. I know the mute button is overwritten by Music/Video but it shouldn't be with Safari.

Actually is sounds as if it was working correctly. Mute only mutes notifications (phone rings, text, email, etc). What is less explicable is why you felt the need to resurrect this thread.

  • Upgraded to iOS7 on my iPad Mini and now the mute button doesn't work

I upgraded to iOS7 on my WiFi only iPad Mini and now the mute button doesn't work.   It toggles between Ringer on and off and of course, there is no ringer on my WiFi iPad. Same thing happens in the control panel when I switch functions and try to mute the sound there.  It used to toggle between Volume on and off.  Anyone know how to fix this?

    Try This...
Close All Open Apps... Sigh Out of your Account... Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

  • Mute button doesn't work to put phone in standby mode, help??

I have a blackberry curve and the mute button will not work to put my phone in standby.  It does work to mute a phone call, however.  It has done this a couple of times, where it will work for awhile, and then stop working for awhile.  I'm not sure if I have hit something to make it so I can't put it in standby mode.  Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Welcome to the forums
Did you press and hold the mute button? It takes a long key press to work. Also do a Battery Pull:
    1. Remove the battery while phone is turned on
    2. Wait a few seconds before inserting it again
    3. Allow the long boot up process to finish (takes a few minutes usually)
This clears most software issues that occur on blackberries from time to time. You could also use Quickpull, a free app that simulates a battery pull without physically removing the battery: http://store.berryreview.com/product.asp?id=27660&n=QuickPull-Free
A battery pull reclaims memory lost during application usage and clears minor software errors that creep in over time. The blackberry runs an OS just like your PC runs windows and the battery pull is the equivalent of a reboot/restart on your computer.

  • The sound mute button doesn't work on my HP pavilion dv6

The finger button on the pavilion dv6 doesn't work for the sound mute button.  I'm not sure if a setting has been disabled or not. Anyone have any ideas on how to restore it ?

    Hi,
    Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp48501-49000/sp48668.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, restart the notebook and let Windows fully load.  Open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if the mute button now functions correctly

  • Microphone Mute Button Doesn't Work - T510

Pretty simple issue.  I think I have the latest software updates installed but on my Win7 64-bit T510, all keyboard special buttons work except for Microphone mute.  Speaker mute and speaker volume buttons work fine. I'm having to mute my mic from the Recording Devices screen in Win7.
What could prevent Microphone mute button from working?

I've got the same problem on  my new T410. I think quite a few people do, but for some reason, this isn't getting much attention. Strange how you can buy a high end product, from a reputable laptop manufacturer, and the product still doesn't work. Quite hard to believe - I mean, this is the year 2010, and a simple button on the notepad doesn't work. Also, hard to believe the audio is not supported on the display port....
Would be hard to believe that audio isn't supported on the display port, since it is supported..

  • Mute Button Doesn't Work

My laptop has a mute button on the keyboard which does work in general. I just installed iTunes 7.1.1.5. When I am playing music and I hit the keyboard "mute" button, the computer mutes for a second and then unmutes - so the mute button (essentially) does nothing. This problem has only occured since I upgraded (I did not have this problem with previous versions) and does not occur when either iTunes is paused or iTunes is not open at all. Thank you,
    Michael

My laptop has a mute button on the keyboard which
does work in general. I just installed iTunes
7.1.1.5. When I am playing music and I hit the
keyboard "mute" button, the computer mutes for a
second and then unmutes - so the mute button
(essentially) does nothing. This problem has only
occured since I upgraded (I did not have this problem
with previous versions) and does not occur when
either iTunes is paused or iTunes is not open at all.
This problem was introduced in iTunes 7.1 (or possibly reintroduced). It certainly did not affect 7.0. It only happens when iTunes is running and is NOT the front-most Application.
It really hacked me off when this happened because I normally leave iTunes running in the background while running Media Center 2005. iTunes can then share the library across my network and also automatically download podcasts.
The culprit is a DLL in the iTunes application and is in the following location…
    C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesKeyboardCompatibility.dll
I initially tried iTunes 7.1.1 (did not fix it), then a couple of third party tools for remapping media keys which claimed to help (but did not), and finally bit the bullet and tried another tip which is to replace the above DLL file with a folder using EXACTLY the same name including the .dll extension. This does work and I can now use the Microsoft Media Center remote control to mute the volume etc. even with iTunes running in the background.

  • Green "Back" Button Doesn't Work in Internet Browser

I am using the integrated Internet browser. If I navigate to the Google home page, do a search and select a page from the search results, pressing the green "previous" button doesn't result in the search results page being displayed. Instead the current page is re-loaded. If I keep pressing the green button, I can eventually get back to the search results (because I am jumping back quicker than the page can re-load).Is there another browser app I can try, or is there any setting i can change? The TV is a KDL32W706B.

    Hi Eugbug,
You can't install other web browser. Please make sure to install the latest software then try to re-launch the browser.

The missing information is highlighted in red." the ok button doesn't work. The message is now fixed & I cannot get rid of it. Ironically, when I found this forum I was able to set up an apple Id. Please advise how to get rid of the pop-up box. Thanks!

I'm having this same problem as well and cannot advance--very irritating. All of the information is filled out correctly and I've editted my AppleID information online separately as well to get around this issue, but no luck...

  • My ipod touch 5th generation will not turn on and the home button doesn't work. what do i do?

Hello my name is Leslie and i would like to ask you guys a question on how to fix my ipod or what is wrong with it. My ipod touch 5th generation will not turn on and the home button doesn't work. what can i do to fix it ?

Has the home button worked in the past, or is this been something that hasn't worked for some time? The only way to reset the device is with the sleep/wake (power) and home buttons together. Without it, you would have to wait until the battery dies and then plug it in to try and reset it. The Home button is used for several user troubleshooting steps. Without it, you cannot perform a reset, put the device into recovery mode, or place it in DFU mode. You need to get the home button repaired.

Can you drag and drop the attachments visible in the email to the Desktop OK or does that fail ?
Re the sending: Are these recipients on Mac's or PC's as the file type could be an issue, if on Mac's then try setting the Mail Preferences Composing setting to Plain Text not Rich Text and see if that improves things.

Hi! I bought my iPhone from USA and the power button doesn't work. I have warranty. I will come to UK soon. I wanna learn; can i benefit my warranty in UK?

The warranty is not and has never been International.  Warranty and support are only valid in the country of origin.  The only exception is for devices sold in the EU where the EU is treated as one country for warranty and support purposes.

I need help on fixing this problem please!!

Try as best you can with broken button.:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
Place the iPod in recovery mode using one of these programs:
    For PC
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
    If necessary:
    Download QTMLClient.dll & iTunesMobileDevice.dll for RecBoot
    For MAC or PC
    The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

My iPhone 5 is disabled and the power button doesn't work. How would I fix it? Please Help

wait it for your iPhone to die then before it turns it plug it into iTunes while holding the home button and it will force it into recovery mode.
will be hard to get the timing right cause u will need to wait for the battery to die and charge up again. Other then that just take it to apple and have them replace the device for a fee.
