The new iCloud format is ugly

How do I get the older look and feel back? I don't like the way the mail works now. The items I use everyday are buried a few layers down. If I change the view so that the fonts are not huge in the iCloud Mail window it messes up the other Safari Windows. Somehow this new format gives the feel of a giant step backward because it has the feel of Kindergarten. We have been working with the sharp scissors and now we have to use the little blunt ones.

  • How can I skip to a new year in the new calendar format?

I am not impressed with the new icloud calendar format. It is too white and it is difficult to see the days. However main complaint is that you cannot skip to the next year quickly. On the previous format you could selected 2014 and immediately select a month. In this new 'improved' format you have to scroll through all the invening moths. Can you fix this Apple or tell us how we can skip forwards 12 months quickly?
    Iain

I agree about the lack of convenience with regard to skipping years in the near future...I'm okay with the general design, but the new way of skipping years is not a step forward considering how I've used it in the past. However, the new way could be advantageous when skipping a big block of years.

  • Love the new iCloud Drive!

I am very happy with how the new iCloud drive works.
It makes a lot more sense to me that I can now select where I want a file to be saved,
rather than having to make that decision before hand, and then having to resort to all
sorts of tricks to move a file from iCloud onto my desktop.
    Nice Work!

The iCloud Drive wasn't designed to hold an iPhoto Library.  It probably is designed to hold the master photos for the new Photos application that is currently being developed for Yosemite and will be released early next year.  We won't know how it will integrate with the new app until it's released.
iPhoto libraries require a local volume that is formatted OS X Extended (journaled)l

  • Corrupted original APPLE ID  and/or not properly linked to the new email format ID

Please HELP!   My Apple ID has been "xxMyID " for 10 years and it was linked to my ".mac" email address.   The effectively worked the same when logging into the new mobile me, even after Apple forced the ".me" email address on me with the same ID.   Now it appears I have 3 seperate accounts and they are not linked.  when I bought an ipad I was forced to enter the new ID format in the form of an email address and now I am locked out and the system for my old Apple ID.  It will not send me an email using the password reset features.
xxMyID, [email protected], and [email protected] should all be the same account.  I don't want 2 or 3 mac accounts but somehow that appears to be what has happened.    Somehow all my iphone apps are under old original ID are not working  and I can no longer sign in.   Typical password recovery does not work.
    Please help.

I am having the same problem!  My itunes, icloud and all my other apple accounts are fine and ive changed the password numerous times as when i try to update my apps it shows my apple ID as my user name and not my full address.  If you find an answer please let me know as I cannot for the life of me solve it :s

  • I redirected iTunes to an external drive and moved my iTunes library and folder, but my hard drive is still low on space.  How can I be sure that my music is all on the external HD ONLY, especially with the new iCloud technology?

I redirected iTunes to an external drive and moved my iTunes library and folder, but my hard drive is still low on space.  How can I be sure that my music is all on the external HD ONLY, especially with the new iCloud technology?  It doesn't look like I created any more space by doing this, AND I totally lost all my iTunes playlists.  I'm not sure if because I added old library materials manually if this messed up my playlists, or if the new location is just not reading my moved library.  In any case, I followed step by step instructions and found a few holes and thought I'd just "figure it out" but I guess I'm not as smart as I thought since I'm still scratching my head many hours later.
    Thanks for any support ;-)

Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Open iTunes and immediately hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) so you get a prompt to select a library, then guide it to the 'iTunes Library.itl' file in the moved iTunes folder.
If this is to a new computer and you put the copied iTunes folder in the default location of Macintosh HD > Users > *User Name* > Music  then you don't even need to start with the option key held down, iTunes will automatically look for it there.  (Make sure there isn't anything already in the iTunes folder there that you want to keep since you will be replacing it with the one you are moving.)

  • I had a MobileMe account before... after upgrading to iOS 5, should I keep my account info under iCloud (settings) AND under mail, contacts and calendars (in Settings as well) or only keep the info under the new iCloud setting section?

I had a MobileMe account before... after upgrading to iOS 5, should I keep my account info under iCloud (settings) AND under mail, contacts and calendars (in Settings as well) or only keep the info under the new iCloud setting section?

That's not the correct port. It should be 993 for incoming.
If you signed into iCloud from the System Preferences, it should automatically create the iCloud account for you in Mail. Sounds like it is an account you already had set up for MMe in Mail.
Open Mail preferences, open the Accounts tab, disable that account in the advanced pane.
Open Sys Prefs, open the iCloud tab, and sign out of iCloud. Then sign back in and see if a new iCloud account is automatically created.

Oops my bad...I see that during my troubleshooting I inadvertently left Ringtones unchecked in iTunes.

  • With the new iCloud i now get all my wife's contacts on my iPhone.  is there a way to get back ti just the contacts I had?

With the new iCloud I now get all of my wife's contacts on my iPhone.  Is there a way to restore just my old contacts to my phone?

Only if a backup of the iPhone with all that data on it exists.  If one does, restore the iPhone using that backup.

  • Are there Mail changes in Mavericks? Are the new iCloud keychain features like LastPass?

It's a pleasant surprise that Mavericks - OS X 10.9 was released as a free upgrade. There are some nice new features, like Finder tabs. I don't see any mention of Mail enhancements though. Are there any? I see tagging for files. Tagging for mail would be nice as cross-references.
What about the new iCloud keychain features. Does that do most of what LastPass does? Or is it just Safari specific?
    Anyway, off to upgrade!

Okay ... so it's not one of the cases of bodged up ACLs on the Apple folder in Common Files. (That's been underlying a few of the recalcitrant E7W5s.
Just in case, let's try the fixit from the following document:

  • How do I add photos to the new iCloud plans

I just upgraded to one of the new iCloud plans, and I would like to move my photos from Dropbox to it.
    Couple questions:
1- How do I create folders and add photos to them?
2- Does this also work for music? or Do I need a separate iTunes Match plan?
I use iPhone, iPad and PC; any help is appreciated.
    Thanks for your help.

May have to wait until apple will make instructions available after ios 8 rolls out.

  • How do I transfer playlists from itunes to my ipod on the new itunes format?

how do I transfer playlists from itunes to my ipod on the new itunes format?

I had the same question. Someone answered perfectly here https://discussions.apple.com/message/20575126#20575126
The answer was click View > Show sidebar. Devices and playlists will display in the left sidebar once again. Copy playlists into iPod as usual.

Is the new iTunes format differ each countries?

What problems are you having with finding your music and creating playlists and/or adding songs to them ? You can search your library via the search box at the top right of the iTunes screen, and if viewing the My Music part of your library you can use the button below the search box to change how you are viewing your library (by albums, songs etc)
To add a song to a playlist control-click the song and select 'add to playlist' from the popup. Or start dragging the song and a list of your playlists should appear on the left for you to drag it to. Or on the Playlists tab you can select the playlist on the left-hand bar, click 'Add To' towards the top right of the screen, and on the next screen drag songs to the right-hand list under the playlist name ; click Done when finished.
The current version of iTunes doesn't support the old layout, you would need to uninstall the current version (if your Mac's OS allows it) and reinstall a previous version.
