The new iTunes is terrible. Can I downgrade to what I had before?

The new iTunes upgrade is just plain awful. Apple used to be the most user friendly thing out there but now theyre trying to do too much and it just ***** my balls. Can i downgrade to the itunes I had before? If so, how?

Did you uninstall iTunes 11 and replace it with iTunes 10.7? If so, you'll need to go through a few steps to put things right:
Rename "iTunes Library.itl" to some other name;
Copy newst ITL file from the "Previous iTunes Libraries" folder into your main iTunes folder and rename it to "iTunes Library.itl";
Download iTunes 10.7: http://appldnld.apple.com/iTunes10/041-7195.20120912.d3uzQ/iTunes10.7.dmg
Download/install shareware app called Pacifist;
Open Pacifist and, separately, mount iTunes DMG file -- drag iTunes PKG file into Pacifist and install iTunes via the Pacifist application -- be sure to answer yes to replacing everything Pacifist asks about;
Enjoy iTunes 10.7.
Cheers,

I just got the new itunes and I can open itunes and see my music but whenI try and go to the itunes store it just loads to a white page. I try and refresh and go to the home page and nothing happens. I can sign into my account and the tabs for the itunes store pop up like they normally would when browsing the itunes store but when I click on one of them, it is a blank page. Is there a setting I need to change? Does it just take an extremely long time to load? Please help!!

I'm having the exact same problem.  I upgraded to the newest version of iTunes on my iMac and ever since I did the store is a blank white screen.  I can get my library content but the store is a no go.  Is there any one out there with a solution?

You have already seen that you cannot load the new iTunes into your 10.5.8, so as Neil says, you need Snow Leopard (current cost £14).    And you'll probably need to update the disc you buy via the combo update, though that is free.
As far as the new iTunes is concerned, there's been a certain amount of grumbling so you may want to study the forums before you update.   The main problem has been with album artwork which does not transfer easily.

    Hello, Martolini.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
The most common resolution for this issue would be to make sure Safari has been update.  If the issue persists, try all of the steps referencing to Mac OS X in the two articles below.
    Troubleshoot issues on a Mac
If you haven't been able to connect to the iTunes Store, a software conflict or your Internet service provider (ISP) may be blocking your access.
Update iTunes and Safari to the latest version.
If you have a firewall, your settings may be preventing you from connecting to the iTunes Store. Follow these steps to configure your firewall.
You may need to reset your keychain. Connection issues are occasionally caused by keychain issues. Learn how to use Keychain First Aid to resolve any issues with your keychain.
If you're receiving a specific error message, follow these steps.
If the issue still persists, contact your Internet service provider and confirm that these ports and servers are enabled over your network.

I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?

Try resetting your home screen layout, go to your setting>general>reset home screen layout.

  • Where is the EXACT version number shown?  Where is the menu link to the Help file?  Why is there no scroll bar?  The new iTunes is terrible in more ways than I can list... how do I switch back to version 10?

The newest iTunes version has no Help option.  Why?  And, no ability to find out the version number.
The new iTunes, when in album view in Windows 7, has NO SCROLLBARS, so it is impossible to scroll the albums.  Why?
Answer these questions, as I am an AAPL shareholder and I am NOT happy with these and other changes you've made to iTunes.

The newest iTunes version has no Help option.  Why?  And, no ability to find out the version number.
You may need to bring up your Menu Bar to see the Help menu.
If you're using 11.0.x, click on the wee boxy icon up in the top-left corner of your iTunes to see the "Show Menu Bar" control, as per the following screenshot:
Once you've got your Help menu showing, go "Help > About iTunes" and wait for the version number to scroll up from the bottom of the screen, as per the previous versions.

  • I have the Mac Os 10.4.11, and iTunes store will no longer come up on my screen to order tunes.  A download screen appears for the new iTunes. I can't download the new iTunes unless I get the new operating system for my mac.  Is there a way around this?

I have an iMac with a 10.4.11 operating system.  When I click on iTunes Store, I no longer get the iTunes screen, instead, I get a new iTunes download screen.
I can't download the new iTunes without upgrading my operating system.  Is there a way around this problem without buying the new operating system?
I haven't been able to download songs for awhile now.

which version of iTunes are you on ? if it's earlier than iTunes 9.2.1, get it here.

  • Safari 4.02 *desperately* slow. I can back-grade to what I had before?

and I don't mean a little slow, but painfully, uselessly slow. it seems to want to keep on loading things to a page. perhaps things which aren't part of a page, but which are linked to it?
bottom line is that before, pages loaded in a second or two. now? i can go make coffee while pages load.
takes me right back to the early days of the intertoobs.
I have a G4 Mini with Tiger and what I had before worked fine. Can I backgrade or am I lookin' at nuke and pave just for this?
    thanks!

(First, if yours is an Intel Mac, check that Safari is not running in Rosetta, which is enough to slow it to a crawl.)
Adding DNS codes to your Network Settings, should gives good results in terms of speed-up:
Open System Preferences/Network. Double click on your connection type, or select it in the drop-down menu. Click on TCP/IP and in the box marked 'DNS Servers' enter the following two numbers:
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
(An explanation of why that is both safe and a good idea can be read here: http://www.labnol.org/internet/tools/opendsn-what-is-opendns-why-required-2/2587 /
Open DNS also provides an anti-phishing feature: http://www.opendns.com/solutions/homenetwork/anti-phishing/ )
Wikipedia also has an interesting article about Open DNS:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenDNS
Whilst in System Preferences/Network you should also turn off 'IPv6' in your preference pane, as otherwise you may not get the full speed benefit (the DNS resolver will default to making SRV queries). If you want to know what IPv6 is:
This is Apple's guidance on iPv6:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.5/en/8708.html
Click on Apply Now and close the window.
    Restart Safari, and repair permissions.
If that didn't do it, then try this as well:
Empty Safari's cache (from the Safari menu), then close Safari.
Go to Home/Library/Safari and delete the following files:
    form values
    download.plist
Then go to Home/Library/Preferences and delete
    com.apple.Safari.plist
    Repair permissions (in Disk Utility).
Start up Safari again, and things should have improved.
Less likely, but possible, is that the slowness is caused by a Trojan such as the one called 'DNSChanger' or 'OSZ.RSPlug', which can alter the DNS settings of your network connection. This particular Trojan can be inadvertently installed if you have come across certain Quicktime movies where got a window stating that you have to download and install a particular codec in order to see the video.
If you have agreed to that installation, your system can be infected and your DNS settings altered, which results in your system using the wrong DNS servers, which can slow web surfing to a crawl.
This can be fixed by downloading and running a freeware utility called DNSChanger Removal Tool which you can download from here:
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/33696
Once you have run that utility you have to re-boot your Mac, then reset Safari, and re-enter your DNS settings in System Preferences/Network.

  • I can't run the new iTunes, and I can't download the old one.

This morning, I opened up iTunes to check what's new. It asked if I want to update to a new version or something, so I said yes. It automaticailly downloaded (all I had to do was agree to an agreement).
But when I open iTunes (the little music note is blue now), it says: http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a138/iammax/newquicktime.jpg
OK, no problem, I think. I go to the iTunes download page. But it looks like this:
    http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a138/iammax/wontload.jpg
I've restarted my computer, deleted cookies, history, temporary internet files, everything, but the page won't load, so I can't re-download iTunes.
I went to Support --> Downloads and tried to download that Quicktime, but it's Mac-Only. So, am I stuck without iTunes? Is the new one only for Mac? What's going on?!
Also, a second thing: This morning (before the download), there was an Episode of Blade: The Series that I wanted to download, but I waited until after school. But after School, it wasn't there. Why did they take it down?

go to http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html to download the windows quicktime 7.1.3

  • With the new itunes, I cannot movie my rented movies as I did before.  It just shows a photo of each movie and a choice of details or to play movie.  How do I download my rented movies now to my IPAD???

With the updated Itunes, how do I move a movie rental I downloaded to my computer to my IPAD?  I can no longer find the "Move" button.  It looks different, just listing a pic of the movie, I can choose only details or to play movie.  Please help!!  If you can possibly put up a screen shot to show my how to do this, it would be helpful.  thanks

As far as I know it should work like it always has. Can you see the sidebar in iTunes? If not, go to View>Show Sidebar from the iTunes menu, then click on your iPad on the left sidebar, then click on the Movies tab in the window on the right.

  • HT1386 I have an 80GB iPod that was purchased in 2007 and I cannot figure out how to sync it using the "newer" iTunes format.  Can anyone help?

I have an older iPod (80GB) which I used to be able to sync, but now the iTunes format has changed and I cannot figure out how to sync it.  The tutorial showed a page that should pop up when the device is connected to my authorized PC, but that page does not appear.  Any suggestions?  I need to sync my device to transfer newer music.

If you have a PC, Control S brings back that familiar side bar on the left side. That might help.  I'm also going to askt he hosts to relocated this post in the iPod forum. This is the iPad part and you may get more device specific info there.
