The new Nokia N80i

I was reading a thred which was saying about the N80i but it was locked. This is just a silly thread really but I thought the Nokia N80 is actually called a Nokia N80-1 so any new N80s that come out would surely take on the corresponding number eg N80-2. Where on earth did the i come from? Anyway please don't argue on this one but anybody else heard some rumours? One I heard was that the new N80-whatever would be getting a touch sensitive screen.
Anything here is just rumours and is not to be confused with hard facts. If you read this don't get confused with what is really available.
Finally, please keep this sensible. Don't say you heard a rumour that the new N80 will come with a pair of open minded twin sisters.
Is that an N95 in your pocket or are you just pleased to see me?!?
Life's too important to take seriously.
Nokias I've owned 3210, 3310, 6100, 7650, 6600, 6680, 6630, N80, N95
I'm a 26 year old boy BTW

From what I have read, it's the same hardware, just different software installed.

  • Do The New Nokia N97's Have The Latest Firmware Ru...

Do the new nokia n97's have the latest firmware running on them (V20) or do i have to upgrade it after it arrives?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

That depends how long it has been since the phone left the factory? It is possible that some retailers have a stock that is very big, so that the phones that they sell right now have a firmware that is a few months old...
Where are you planning buying the phone?
By clicking the "Kudos!" or the "Solution?" button on the right you can say "Thank You" and you´ll show the author and others that the post is useful.

  • The new Nokia Pro Cam is not user friendly AT ALL ...

After the Amber update on my Lumia 920, I downloaded the new Nokia Pro Cam app, due to most people claiming that it produces very good quality photos. I agree that the photos clicked using Pro Cam are of better quality than those clicked with  the built in camera app. But this Pro CAM is not at all user friendly.
First thing is the most frustrating. The built in camera app allows taking photos by just touching anywhere on the screen, but the Pro Cam required you to touch one specific spot on the screen for this purpose. This is highly inconvenient, especially when taking self photos using the main camera. I know that the photo can be clicked even using the camera launch button, but this serves no purpose because pressing that button actually shakes the phone a bit and makes the photo blurry.
The next thing is, the settings of Pro Cam are denoted by symbols and not text. Camera professionals may feel comfortable with these images, but for the common man, its really difficult to understand what these symbols actually mean. I don't understand how Nokia came up with the idea of complicating matters by replacing the text with symbols for settings.
Finally, there are no settings at all for the front camera, which is also a disappointment becasue we're forced to use the deafult settings.
Hence, in spite of better image quality with this Pro Cam, I'd rather stick with the built-in camera app because the Pro Cam is too cumbersome and tedious to use. So what do you people feel about this Nokia Pro Cam?

    Hi,
Maybe the following explanations can help.
    1. There is a plus point to this also. Suppose you need to only focus on a subject and not shoot straight away. You can do that by touch the screen where you want to focus, without actually taking the shot. Shot can then be taken by pressing the dedicated on-screen shutter button.
I actually prefer it this way. You just can do that in the WP8 camera app.
    2. Here again, all the symbols used are standard photography symbols you will find on any dedicated camera. Even they don't have full names, only symbols. This should not be a major problem, you will learn very quickly what all these symbols mean.
    3. People usually use front camera for video chat (or to check if your hair is ok or not!). The requirement for video chat is that you don't need a very high end image/video quality. Moreover, the front facing camera quality is not that good too, so there is no point is providing all that functionality used for rear camera.
You can try using Nokia Glam Me lens, to add some post processing to selfies.

You are welcome! I played with the 928 in a Verizon store and really liked it. Besides the great camera and Nokia Maps, I'd be pretty excited about Nokia Music, too. As I understand it, this free app lets you create playlists from its entire music library, which can be stored on your device to listen to any time.

  • Problem In using Nokia PC Suite with the new Nokia...

My Nokia Ahs 310 is a new phone I bought and I tried with it to connect internet through my PC using Nokia PC Suite. But, when I connect phone to the PC it tells that it can't find the drivers and install the new device. And in someyimes in Nokia PC Suite it showed as "connected in non compatible USB".
However I can't log into internet using my Nokia Asha 310. Please help me in this regard.

scoobyman, I think KRNS tries to use his Nokia 310 as modem for his computer. Consequently, no Wi-Fi involved.

This does not affect the Nokia 310 but only Nokia Asha 501, Nokia 301, Nokia 210, and the Nokia 206 – because my Nokia 310 works with Nokia Suite and PC Suite perfectly. Furthermore, The Nokia 301 was tested with the PC Suite successfully. Same for the Nokia 206. Success reports for the Nokia 210 are still missing.

install the latest Nokia Suite. This install the latest Connectivity Cable Driver automatically. Then
install the latest PC Suite (I like its modem handling more)
Nokia 310 » SIM Manager » choose SIM1 (at least for data)
PC Suite » Menu » File » Connect to the Internet
Works here with my Nokia 310, just tested for you. However, I was not able to use SIM2 for the computer. If neither PC Suite nor Nokia Suite worked for you, please say so!

  • Nokia MixRadio – the NEW Nokia Music

Did you notice something different about your favourite music app for Windows after the latest update?
It’s got a new name, a new logo and new menu screens. And it is not just the Windows Phone 8 app that have a new style, but also the Windows 8 app and the website music.nokia.com is now mixrad.io.
Change is good, but can sometimes be difficult, so we have anticipated some questions that you may have:
Why is there a smiley face on my phone?
That’s the new logo, hope you like it
    What is Play Me?
It is a personalised mix inspired by your unique music profile.
    Where is Store?
By swiping to the third screen you can search for an artist or album. When you hear a song you especially like while listening to the mixes, you can click on the title of the track and get straight to the product page where you download it. (Downloads are not free!)
    Where is Personalise?
Play Me is replacing the personalise feature. Make sure to add lots of artists you like to “favourites” to make it more personal!
Is MixRadio+ the same as Nokia Music+?
Yes! The benefits are still the same and your current subscription will continue without disruption.
Anything else on your mind? Discuss!
If this or any post answers your question, please remember to help others by pressing the 'Accept as solution' button.

The store is still there, it just looks a little different
If you swipe to the search screen you can find music from there by searching for artist, track or album. If you need some inspiration you can download music from the mix you are listening to by clicking on the title of the song while it is playing.
@manojmatouria: can you explain what is happening after the update, why isn't it working?

  • Fine tunning the new Nokia Ovi suite 2.0.2.42

    Hi,
I just installed Nokia Ovi suite and have configured some settings but the followings are either not available or can't be configured:
SMS , call and battery notifications are missing as compared to Nokia PC Suite
Calendar cannot be viewed , I can only see (contacts , photos , messaging and Music) on the home screen
Device backup time cannot be set
Sync period with MS Outlook cannot be set
Calendar items that are older than 4 weeks cannot be synced
Under tools - options - device sync , I didn't select the message folder to be synced but the software has already synced SMS messages between the phone and computer! I didn't want to do that
Cannot create MMS message as opposed to Nokia PC Suite
In short the interface is cool but there are many features that are available in Nokia PC suite that are missing from Nokia Ovi suite
Any fix to any of the above issues would be appreciated

  • New nokia social 1.4!

    Hello MODS,
I've heared about the new nokia social 1.4 from online news published 01/14/2012 and its support for new features as notifications, events, syncing contacts and dedicated facebook and twitter widgets. I am planning to buy nokia 701 very soon but i wanna ask if this new is still laggy, does it crash and what about the notifications is it push or manual refresh?

Yes dedicated facebook and twitter apps and widgets are there. Nice thing.
701 is not at all lagging. From my experience of 2 months use, the phone is just robust it just won't crash.
    Notifications are of course push.
701 is highly recommended. Man it can multitask upto 25 to 32 apps without hanging or slowdown. Well I hardly use 5 apps running.

  • New Nokia's (820/920) & Outlook sync

I currently use an HTC HD2 with Outlook 2007 email, calendar, contacts and tasks.
There is much disinformation on the internet. So i'd like to ask 2 questions:
    - (plz allow me to ask this : ) does MS Office 2010 / 2013 include tasks?
    - How can i sync my PC's Outlook 2007/2010/2013 with the new Nokia's? Is it still necessary to use a live account? I Hope not!.....
    Regards

I have over 3500 contacts, and this is how I sync my outlook Contact with my Nokia Lumia 920.
    1. I created an outlook.com account in My PC and logged in from Both Lumia 920 phone and my PC.
2.From my outlook, I exported my outlook personal address to my PC and saved it on my desktop like below.
FILE -> OPTION -> ADVANCE -> EXPORT -> Export a file -> Comma seprated value (Windows) -> (Exporting from personal address book) Choose CONTACT then where in your PC you want to save it, ( For me I saved at my PC's Desktop.
    3. Log into your Outlook.com , go to the PEOPLE folder, look for Importing file colum and import the file you exported to your PC location, as for me, my Desktop on my PC. You will be notified how many contacts transfered.
After that your done, go back to your Lumia 920, Tap the PEOPLE and you will see all your contacts.
If this is helpful, please share it with others having same problem.

  • Brand new Nokia N900 ceases just after half a day ...

I recieved the new Nokia N900 as an upgrade. It crashed few time opening emails, however restarted automatically. Later on it crashed on ovi map (pre installed). I tried rebooting after taking the taking the battery out and putting it back in - no joy! I tried startgin without the sim card -still the same problem - it starts with the Nokia banner and then 5 flashing dots... that's it.
I have used Nokia for over 10 years, I never experienced this from Nokia.
I think N900 is still 'Work in Progress', am not sure if it is fully tested yet!!

    you need this thread!
    /discussions/board/message?board.id=maemo&thread.id=1799
This is a known problem.. And I'll be brief here since there are lots of posts about it..
A bug in the firmware causes some devices to reboot.. Your's is an unluck one.. There is a permanent fix in an up and coming firmware release (not the one released today.. but soon) but in the mean time we have a work around..
you have two problems.. first getting your device booting..
Each time your device randomly rebooted itself, it increased a counter.. when this counter reached its upper limit (17 reboots) the device will STOP booting.. as yours has.. To reset this limit you need to manually restart your phone.. use the power button to turn it off.. use the power button to turn it on and the counter goes back to zero..
problem is, your device has already reached the limit so we need to trick it into going back to zero..
The easiest option may not work for you.. but it is fairly simple..
Take the battery out.. plug your phone into your computer.. put the battery back in.. allow the phone to boot..
If that doesn't work, you'll need to use the longer process detailed in the link above.. Read the first post carefully and see the section:
REPAIRING A DEVICE THAT NO LONGER BOOTS
If your device won't boot and won't respond to flasher.. the battery could be flat.. you MUST charge the battery to get your device booting. To do this you'll need to find someone with a Nokia N900, 5800 or 5230 handset since they all use the same battery.. If you device won't boot, it won't charge..
Ok, assuming these instructions have helped your device boot, you need to implement the patch to stop it rebooting..
Open this URL in your phone
    http://chris.intrepid.cx/N900/fix
Click and INSTALL the first link.. when you click the first link select open..you'll be taken to app manager and you must proceed with the install
Go back to the browser and click and SAVE the second link.. Save the file in the documents folder of your device..
now, open an Xterminal and type these two commands exactly.. remember they are case sensative:
    sudo gainroot
    sh MyDocs/.documents/fixpm.sh enable
Reboot your device once more and you should hopefully have a happy N900!
Any problems refer to the first link in this post... and post and questions in that thread..

  • Like the new email client.

    Hi Nokia,
Did a software update not too long ago, and was prompted to install the new Nokia messaging client on my E63. Its quite nice, a good improvement over the previous version, though viewing emails in HTML is pretty slow, hoping you guys might be able to speed that up. Overall, quite nice.
    Thanks.

Hi there, I have updated my E5-00  to the last version of email client, but I have lot of issues with it. The client has problems to load images. It is not possible to load email address through contacts. I have to manually type the address. I have tried the hard reset but it didn`t help. The biggest problem is that it is not possible to uninstall the client. I DON`T recommend to upgrade. My frients have the same problem.

  • Upgrade a Nokia 6310i car kit to a new Nokia?

I bought a car with a car kit installed which fitted a Nolia 6310i. I then bought a CARK 91 kit so I could use my Nokia 3410. I want to upgrade my phone to something like a N96 or even a Samsung or Sony Ericsson, however do I need to have my car kit taken out and a new one installed, or can they just replace the handset holder?

The cark-91 is not upgradeable to work with any of the phones you listed, As Okinawa has mentioned above, click the link to view all the new Nokia car kits, there new kits will work with any of the phones you have listed.

  • The New E65 is Officially Announced

There has appeared the info with the status official on the new Nokia E-series smartphone. It features GSM/3G networking (GSM 850/900/1800/1900 and WCDMA 2100), Wi-Fi adapter, Series 60 v3.0 platform and a high resolution display for the most comfortable surfing.
Earlier the device was said to have a QVGA (240x320 pixels) display, a 2-megapixel camera, 65 MB of internal memory, a microSD slot and Wi-Fi. Besides there was the info on the exact dimensions – 106x47x14 mm.

I don't think E90 communicator fact is true.
Yesterday the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) approved a mobile phone Nokia E61i. The full name in the documentation is Nokia E61-2.
In accordance with Nokia the full documentation for the model will be available at the FCC site by the beginning of March 2007. However the fact of FCC approval proves that Nokia E-series lineup will soon be extended.Message Edited by korngear on 26-Jan-2007

This FAQ is nicely laid out and useful.
    Thanks, Roger.
I suggest it's worth bumping onto page 1 every so often
This was really posted for the regulars, such as yourself, that may post URLs. Mostly I wanted to be sure that anyone still hanging on to URLs from thehangtime.com were warned before the page vanishes (well, I'll add a pointer to the new site, of course, but still...)
And really, I think it would be annoying for the regulars to see this same thread "bumped" each week, or whatever. Smacks a wee bit too much of "self importance" to me
I did write a little app that captures the anchor tags and keeps a local copy, with a spotlight-like search (that was a fun bit of coding B-)>. I wrote it just for myself (The FAQ finally got big enough that I couldn't remember all the Name Tags, heh), but if there was any interest I could probably find the time to clean it up and put it online for anyone that wanted it.
(you might want to give it a different title to encourage
people to look at it before posting).
One can't edit the title after 15 minutes have passed, just like one's post B-(>
You might also consider adding a search engine, such as
    http://www.freefind.com/
I actually do have search available all over the site, but I apparently managed to skip adding it to the ToC. However, I'm intrigued by your freefind as they mention daily re-indexing as opposed to Google's "every couple of weeks" time frame.
I'll give them a more thorough look-over later today, thanks! ~~Hang
