Thank you.  I just followed those steps and it worked.  One thing that confuses me though.  When I right click on the sequence i want to copy in the Browser, and go to Settings, I am expecting that I am going to see what the current sequence is set at-- like what format you had selected before in the Easy Set-up.  But you don't see anything of the sort (those actually appear to be under "Item Properties".  Instead you only see another button "Load Sequence Preset...", and when you hit that, you only see whatever it is you currently have your Easy Set Up set to-- not the actual properties of the sequence.  But at that point, (I've been told) it makes no differnce to change it anyway since the sequence as already been created.  But in fact I have experimented with changing the "Load Sequence Preset" for the new copied (correctly per your instruction) and it does make a difference-- it messes it up in the same way it was messed up when I was trying to copy it my way.  Fair enough, I just won't do that anymore, but it does beg the question what is the proper usage of the "Load Sequence Preset..." under sequence settings.  Do you know?
I know this is getting down to minutiae.
Thanks again.

  • My ipod nano gen 4 will not sync the new episodes of a video podcast. HELP!!!

My ipod nano gen 4 will not sync the new episodes of a video podcast. I could download the first half of the episodes. Help! I really like them. It says "it can't be played on this device." Many other podcasts are doing the same thing. Is my ipod too old?

    Hi tinafromodense,
If you are having issues with your iPod nano not being recognized by iTunes on your (and other) Windows machines, you may find the troubleshooting steps outlined in the following article helpful:

I have a G5 mac using ver 10.4.11 and a newer mac using ver 10.8.4 these are networked. using the new mac i looked up my my photo on the old mac. It then said you need to upgrade your library which it did. Now the old mac can not open the photos and say that I need to upgrade my I photo to a newer version. The old mac has no more support from apple in software update so I am not sure where I should go from here. can I use new soft ware with the old mac

The other part of the upgrade message was a warning that once you upgraded you would no longer be able to open the library with the old version which is exaclty what you did and what happened when you choose to continue
The iphoto library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of iPhoto. Your photo library will not be readable by previous versions of iphoto after the upgrade. The upgrade process may take several minutes depending on the number of photos in the library. Cancel or upgrade.
So now your choices are to not use iPhoto with the previous version using it onky with the newer version, restore your backup from before you did this upgrade or purchase iPhoto Library Manager and use it to rebuild the library using the older version of iPhoto (instructions are on their web site) thereby downgrading it (without projects)

  • Do the new iPod Touches shoot video and take pictures?

Do the new iPod Touches shoot video and take pictures?
The new Nanos shoot video. You'd think the Touch would.
I spent maybe 20 minutes reading Apple info pages, an iPod comparison page, and even quickly searched the User Guide, but saw nothing about shooting video anywhere.
Sure, it talked about video, but it wasn't clear to me if that was only for playback.
I guess I am missing it, or else it doesn't do it, which would be strange.
If it does, where is this info on the Apple Web site? That is, links to both video and photo shooting?
    Thanks!

    not yet....
most people expected a camera to be added to the iPod touch, but that announcement didn't arrive.

  • IMac vs the new Mac Pro for video editing in FCPX?

    Hi.
I am currently using a macbook air for all my editing and rendering of videos in FCPX. The editing process is reasonably smooth when dealing with shorter clips, but when I tried to edit multicam clips, things started to slow down. Also,  the rendering and compression processes are tedious. I am planning to edit and process a much larger number of videos in the next years to come, so I have decided to do a serious upgrade of my system.
For the moment, I am torn between a maxed out iMac 27", which would be the cheapest alternative, and the 6 core Mac Pro or 4 core Mac Pro.
When I look at benchmarks of the new Mac Pro's in Geekbench, the iMac is never very far away in terms of performance.  Does tests like this tell anything about how well the Mac Pro will perform in FCP?   Does the hardware in the Mac Pro have features which makes it superior to the iMac, in other ways than for example the "pure power" of the CPU and GPU?
    Christopher.

FCP X 10.1, Motion 5.1 Updates w/Dual GPU Support (new Mac Pros) (from Thursday)
Apple released Final Cut Pro X 10.1 Thursday with support for Dual GPUs in the new Mac Pro and more.
Long list in the Final Cut Pro X 10.1 Release Notes that also links to info on How to back up important FCP X 10.0.x files before updating. (Today's Apple docs listing also has more related to Final Cut Pro X 10.1.)
Also out today are Compressor 4.1 and Motion 5.1. Full release notes below but here's a clip from the App store Motion 5.1 changes:
Optimized playback and rendering using dual GPUs in the new Mac Pro
FxPlug 3 with custom plug-in interfaces and dual-GPU support
Faster project loading, especially for complex projects
Share directly to YouTube at 4K resolution
    Spanish language localization
    Dual FirePro Dxxx Rendering FCP-X

Intel Xeon processors are designed to run 24/7 and stay cool and under load.
Mac Pro so far hold up strongly for years, easy to add and upgrade RAM and processor, and maybe, hopefully, even the twin GPUs. Thunderbolt2 for all your projects and storage as well.
6 or 8-cores is going to walk away from iMac which is breathing hard and not designed for constant heat. Haswell was designed to conserve and reduce.

  • PSE user since the old Album `1.  Accumulated a 20K or more photo catalog.  Stopped upgrading at PSE 10.  How do I translate all the categories, sub categories and tags in PSE 10 to the new versions that look alot like the system in Lightroom??

How do I convert my catalog and the Categories, Sub Categories, and Tags in PSE 10 to the newer versions like PSE 12 or 13??
The new organizer looks a lot like Lightroom with the computers filing system, not the organizer I have been using for about 10 years.
Can I upgrade and somehow retain all the organization I presently have?

  • What is the song used as backing for the new Final Cut Pro video ad?

Nothing to do with the application itself, BUT just stumbled across the new video ad that Apple have released for Final Cut Pro. Really, very impressive - check it out....!
Question is: Can anyone tell me the name of the band / song Apple are using for the soundtrack of the video? Would love to order it up on iTunes.....
    Cheers!

Thanks Brian, I was only half joking. I've been wondering how I'll get used to them in the edit suite.
I've lost glasses when they were sitting on top of my head. I can't imagine trying to keep track of 3 pair. Fortunately my CRT/LCD vision is the same poor quality as my Drive In Screen vision so hopefully the bi's will let me read scripts while editing without getting a pounding headache.
    Enough of this old guy talk, we're going to start depressing people. (;

  • Does the new Directv App allow video through Airplay?

Anyone know if the new Directv app for iPad 2 allows video through airplay? I'm only getting audio when watching live TV and movies through the app. I found a few articles that indicated the app would allow videa through airplay, but it doesn't seem to be working. I wasn't sure if there was a setting I needed to change or something else I should be doing.

How did you import the photos?
Are the missing photos perhaps referenced? Then they cannot upload to iCloud.
You can check with a smart album, if you have any photos in the library, that cannot upload to iCloud.

  • I've downloaded the 5.0 update and not all the new features are there.  Just the news stand, reminders and videos.  I double checked on the update and it says it's up to date.  What should I do now?

I've downloaded the new 5.0 update and not all the new features are there.  Just the newsstand, reminders and videos icons plus icloud.  Everything else is the same as before.  What should I do now?  It says I have the latest update.  ???

Hummmm, you might not be missing anything... From what I understand, really the only new visible add-on apps type programs are Newstand and Reminders. The Notification Center seems to be about how your info and alerts are pushed to your screen and you control that thru the phone settings>General>Notifications, the panel is accessed by swiping downward from the top of your screen. Weird I know, should be more obvious. Enjoy!
Don't forget, you can now use the volume button on the side of your phone to take photos. I really like this!

  • 'The New iPad' cannot open videos

    Hi all,
I moved from an iPad 1 to a new ipad quite seamlessly using iTunes to back up my details. The new iPad worked really well until I realised that it would only play the videos that were there from the back up. Any new videos I tired to play would create a 'cannot open' message.
I have done everything the way I normally would from using the same software to convert the video files to syncing them via iTunes.
Has something changed with the release of the new iPad? Is iTunes blocking me from sync videos I didn't purchased from the iTunes store?
What other reason does the 'cannot open' message come up for, maybe I can figure it out?

Wow...just wow... I love when I fix my own tech problems.
As mentioned before I felt my iTunes was the problem even though it was up to date.
    I un-installed it and ensured I re-installed a 64bit version of it.
I synced it with the iPad but nothing changed.
Then I realised that maybe my zone alarm firewall might be the cause of all my problems even though I already tried syncing with zone alarm off (which didn't work) I thought maybe updating it to the latest version would fix the issue. I have long been aware that zone alarm has cause different issues with iTunes and iProducts. I don't know if anyone has ever covered it on these forums.
After installing the most current version of zone alarm firewall. I synced my iPad with iTunes and IT WORKED. My videos now play on the iPad perfectly.
Hopefully this new version of zone alarm won't cause any other conflicts otherwise I maybe have to remove it.
So in summary, ensure you are using the latest version of iTunes. If you are using zone alarm firewall. Update it or if that doesnt work then uninstall it complete and use another firewall.
Thanks to all who offered their suggestions.

  • The new iPad first battery charge issue

I just got the new iPad, I waited for the battery to die and the I let it charge for 14 hours and it only charged from 2% to 37%, then I changed the power cord and the outlet and it took it 5 hours from 37% to 100%. Is this normal? 19 hours from 2% to 100%, seriously? I know that iPads take a long time to fully charge the battery, but I think this is unusual. Thanks already for the answers...

You're welcome.  All the USB cords are the same, so it doesn't matter which USB cable your use.  The difference is in the Charger the USB cable is connected to.
I don't know if you know this, but the User Guide is conveniently bookmarked in Safari on your iPad.  It might help you to read it and I'll bet you'll learn things about your iPad you didn't know.  Plus, if you ever get into trouble, you can refer to the guide for assistance.
    Take care......

  • The new MacBook Pro 15" -- video adapters fry computer?

So, I haven't been able to find anything on this online yet, and I could well be wrong, so proceed with care and let me know if this is debunked, and I'll edit appropriately.
I was at J&R World (New York) earlier today, to buy a VGA adapter for my brand new MacBook Pro 15". Not knowing which kind I needed, I asked the guy, but when he went to get one for me, they were missing that adapter, and only that one. He checked the computer, and it said they were in stock, but before it could be resolved, the store closed.
So I go to the Apple Store in Soho, and having already forgotten which "mini-" or "micro-" thingie I needed, I ask again. And thank goodness. The guy asks me which computer I have, and I tell him the Macbook Pro. The new one? Brand new. Hmm, he says, let me check, they're changing those adapters. I'm a bit puzzled about what that means, especially since I can see all the types sitting on the shelf right there. He comes back. What size do you have again? 15 inch. ****, he says, the other sizes are okay, but there's a problem with the newly updated 15" Macbook Pros. A problem? I say. But it's brand new! Yeah, he says, something is wrong, I don't know what technically, they're fixing it in the adapters. So, I ask, doesn't that mean there's something wrong with the computer, then? Anyway, he hems and haws, and says something about the old adapters frying the computer, that it only affects the brand new 15" models, and that it seems to be related to the sound card. I asked him when the new adapters would be in, but he didn't know. Only after I left did I think about the fact that they appear to still be selling the old ones to anyone who knows enough not to ask.
This obviously requires corroboration, but it seems like a pretty serious problem to me if there are a lot of the old adapters out there already. I don't want to live in fear that, even if I get a new one, I need to have it with me always (often projectors in our department have adapters in the bag with them), and that if I mix it up with someone else's, it may fry my computer! Also, surely it must mean there's something wrong with my new Macbook Pro -- and after the (literally) 12 things that went wrong with my old Macbook, I'm pretty wary.
Anyone else heard this? Any Apple Store workers who can corroborate? If it's false, I'll happily erase this, but the odd behavior at J&R and the confidence of the Apple Store clerk make it seem pretty solid -- I'm just surprised I can't find any info online.

Given that the folx at the retail store usually know "less" about emerging issues than here in the discussions, just the fact that they have any information at all would make me wary about picking up an adapter, warranty or not. For example, after being told that, if you had asked about the SATA issue, you'd have likely gotten a blank stare or a "Whuh?" So, there's some information that they THINK is reliable (that they may have misinterpreted, of course) that says there's a chance to fry the new 15 inch MBP. It may be an outside case, it may only be related to hooking up to some older specific model of monitor, etc., but it's out there.
I'd play it cautious and check the store again in a day or so to see if they have the same story. Better to make sure and not have any questions raised on your warranty return than to have your computer blow up on you in the middle of something you worked hard to create. Sure, you get a new computer, but, at the moment it's fried, you likely lose what you're working on.

  • IOS 6: Upgraded 4s to the new OS and now videos within apps like Pulse and Safari have no sound. Checked notifications and options, restarted phone, still no go...

I upgraded to iOS6 last week, and everything seems to be working well, except for audio playback within certain apps. I was wondering if this is in any way linked to the removal of youTube from the standard software. Within my news apps and Safari, I have absolutely no audio playback on videos. I have refreshed the 4S, restarted, and checked notifications, but no progress has been made. However, the sound is just fine elsewhere, including the youTube app, which I downloaded to troubleshoot. As of right now, if I search for a video within Safari, and it links to an embedded video, I get no sound whatsoever. If I pull up the same video within the youTube app, the sound plays just fine. Any ideas?
