The newest upgrade deleted all my apps!
hello there,
a few minutes ago i decided to hit the 'upgrade itunes' icon that kept on annoying me. i made sure to click all the corresponding warnings that told me that i should backup all that i had in the ipod (touch, 2nd gen) into my account and then merrily set off.... to disaster.
the ipod, at first, would not respond. when it finally did, i opened it to inly find that all my apps that i have downloaded since i got the touch are not there. all the apps that i used on a daily basis, all the notes and everything in 3rd party apps.... gone.
this only got incredibly more frustrating when i repeatedly tried logging into my itunes store to find the apps and re-download them. i can only see a list of said apps, but i think it is mildly ****** to ask of one to go searching for them again and download them one by one. what the heck?!
does anyone know a simpler way to get them back? i remember the previous itunes had a view of your account in which you could see all the apps you had ever purchased with icons and all, and if you had deleted one that you wanted back you could click on it again.

Same thing here. After upgrading to iPhone OS 4, not one app can be found on my entire system. It makes no sense. When you click on the gray exclamation point to locate the app, it's saying they're in a folder called `Mobile Applications` in my iTunes folder. Okay... except no such folder exists. ***? It's going to take me hours to re-find and re-download each and every app. There has to be some secret/hidden location where .ipa files are stored but I can't find it anywhere. Any ideas would be terrific.

Try ReSynching to iTunes. If you set up sync to the cloud, turn that off, resync to your PC. That should bring them back. You can then turn on sync to cloud again.
You may, however, want to re-think that. There is a lot of chatter about the cloud being the source of some if not many of the battery issues. Personally, I decided to rurn the cloud off until the Battery-gate issue is resolved.

I have an ipod touch. I am trying to download the newest upgrade and when I do I get the same message that to do so will mean all my old inof (songs, games, apps) will be erased!? Anyone else experience this problem?
If all the synced media (such as app and music) or in your iTunes library, and if you have a backup. Go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and check, the restore the iPod from that backup. The restore will also update the iPod.

Hold the home and power button down until your phone restarts. If that doesn't work, backup and restore using iTunes.

I reset my phone , made a new account even deleted all my apps but nothing works . How do I remove the restrictions if any for the 17+ apps ? Pleasee help !
It's set in Settings/General/Restrictions. You will need the Restrictions passcode to access the setting. Presumably someone placed the restriction on your phone. You need to talk to whomever set the restriction if it wasn't you.

I upgraded the iphone software to 4.2.8 and none of the purchased apps would open. I then restored the software and now all those apps are GONE. How do I get them back?

I hate iTunes. It continues to download HD versions of movies when I tell it not to. The movie I want is 4.4 gigs. I have deleted all my apps and half my songs and still don't have enough space. iTunes is near impossible to navigate.
I have downloaded Oblivion six times and it continues to bring the HD version. I have unchecked the "Download HD when available" but I continue to get a file that is 4.4 gigs large.
I hate iTunes.You purchased the HD version, not the regular version. It will continue to download the version you bought. If you want the SD version you have to shell out for it. Apple doesn't do returns.
Watch your movie. You can always put other stuff back on later, especially music. -
why when i want to sync my phone with the computer it wants to delete all my apps how do i not let this happen. this is a different computer to the 1 i always use. i have authorised this computer but still wants to delete my apps
Why you can't redownload? Don't you have the Apple ID that used to download these apps?
You can "transfer purchaces" by right click on your iphone in iTunes but i guess you computer is not authorized and will ask you to authorize with Apple ID. Try it. -
I accidentally deleted all my apps and music. I can re-download the music but don't know how to get the apps back without buying them again. Any thoughts?

Yes as long as your apps have been optimised for iOS 8 you can re install them from cloud in your purchases.
App Store>Updates>Purchased.

If I delete all my apps etc on my iPhone to make room for the ISP 7 upgrade will I be able to redownload my apps after? Will there be space after the upgrade? How much space does the upgrade take?
I have three different accounts and at some time or another have bought apps with them all. If there is an update the Iphone automatically asks me to login with the appropriate credentials to update. They all live happily on Itunes and I can log in and out on Itunes as well with no ill effects.

What do you mean " back up my photos or Apps"?
The photo sync is one way - computer to ipad.
You can transfer itunes purchases. Without syncing: File>Transfer Purchases
Copy everything from your backup copy of your old computer to your new one. -

On your computer, go to iTunes and then the iTunes store and the App Store. In the right panel there's a "Purchased" link. Go there and redownload the apps you want.

How to stop iTunes 9 from deleting all my app data ?!
I used to sync my phone to two computers:
- Media and apps on my iMac
- "Info" (Calendars, Contacts) and Photos on my MacBook Air.
I simply had different items checkmarked for synching on the two machines.
This worked perfectly until iTunes 9. With 9, when I plugged into my Air to synch my calendar, it started copying all my apps to the laptop! I simply canceled that.
NOW, when I connect back to my iMac, the phone instantly and automatically starts deleting all my apps and replacing them with fresh copies! I am losing ALL my vital app data! (Plus it started installing tons of unwanted apps that I had unchecked--which will fill up the phone at some point.)
How can I stop this automatic deletion? I've now downloaded the 9.0.1 patch but I'm afraid to even plug in my phone again!
Before canceling the synch, I've already lost everything through the "A's" including some vital work stuff and hours of hard-earned game progress. Some could be recovered via TIme Machine and restoring an older backup... but I have some really important stuff on my phone since that last backup, and I don't want to wipe it.
Thanks for any advice.Wiping my phone, restoring from backup, AND wiping all iTunes related files (from a search in Library and in Music) seems to have stopped this behavior.
(I couldn't wipe the iTunes files on the machine with my media and apps, but I did so on the other machine--where I only sync contacts, calendars and bookmarks. My iTunes library is empty there anyway.)
I don't know if this relates to an "app synching" issue that iTunes 9.0.1 fixed. Could be. -
