The not so distance future of computing.

These are just some things in the future I feel like writing about for whatever reason. Some is stuff that will happen others are just my hopes.
What do you look forward to in the future?
Also let me know if some of my points are completely off.
Hardware
Possessor- Cpus are continually changing. Smaller processor architectures are always cool. 32 nm and 22nm. One thing i find interesting coming up is having the cpu and gpu on the same die.
Motherboard- pretty much eliminating the front side bus is kinda cool.
sata- sata 3 is coming out but it wont be useful for a while.
usb 3.0- Not a big deal just kinda cool
bluetooth 3 and wireless usb3: Same thing not a big deal to me but kinda cool
ssds- continually getting cheaper and better which is awesome.
ram and harddrives- Not really sure but not much seems to change. If I understand correctly ram is already as fast as it is usable and hard drives just get bigger.
mini-itx- I think it's cool that this form factor is getting more popular. I just like the size.
gpus- Intel has their gpgpu coming out but I'm not sure how good that will be. other than that I don't know much other than gpus will begin supporting directx 11.
Screens-led/oled technology seems to be advancing but im not sure what this means. Less energy usage? Or do they actually provide better graphics?
graphics in general- I'm not really sure. I know we can make screens larger but can we actually improve over 1080p in terms of clarity and what not?
netbooks- They will get faster with new atom processors and will get better at playing hd video like some already have.
arm-perhaps more arm netbooks
digital movie cameras- will continue to get better but still not as good as film
display port- I feel like this has no chance but hopefully it will catch on.
wii-wii hd maybe in 2011
software
enlightenment- according to their roadmap a final release would be ready by christmas.
kde- I don't use it but I really like kde. I think it has to do with how all their projects seem to be progressing nicely. I feel like the project is just handled well and the individual applications are turning out really nice.
gnome-gnome 3 will be released and i'm not sure what that entails. Different look and feel?
kernel-will continue as always. I'm not sure about anything special happening.
lxde- i believe lubuntu is in the works
windows7-i have no idea what this will change if much at all.
id tech 4- hopefully will be released as opensource soon. I have no idea when.
android/maemo- It would be cool to see these on more and more phones as we currently are.
netop os's- we've seen a few. Moblin will begin shipping on some dells and we will see how well it succeeds.
blender- blender 2.5 will come out which is a major release with many changes. Blenders third open movie will come out.
urban terror-i don't play really but urban terror 4.2 will hopefully be released soon.
python- Google's unladen swallow project will hopefully meet their goal and speed up python by 5 times its current speed. I hope for more projects to move to python 3. pyside will end up better than pyqt.
perl6-will never be released
chakra-Will reach a 1.0 release and be awesome.
healthcare- Some type of awesome opensource electronic healthcare softwae is implemented.
Google- Googleos will come out
steam-hopefully a Linux version will be released.
Theora/Thusnelda- Hopefully this format will become popular with hd video
html5 video tag- This will be used much more hopefully with theora.
ps3-will support 3d but only with new tvs. also will introduce new motion controller
xbox-project natal. Not sure about this yet.
cloud- I don't think much will change too soon.
opengl- Hopefully will make serious improvements and quick development.
othersoftware- Theres a lot of software that I hope continues to progress nicely and won't die like many other projects.
dyne:bolic- will make another release.
Stuff
net neutrality-hopefully the fcc will pass some sort of regulation that will somehow get ignored.
wifi- I would just like to hope more cities implement city wide wifi
oracle- they will get EU approval and make sun software available for Linux to use.
sco- hopefully one day they will finally quit.
Headfirst programming- This book will come out and be awesome

Moore's Law relies on regular paradigm breaks that transcend the limitations of hardware. That's why we went from mechanical computers to vacuum tubes to integrated circuits (yes, I know that's a gross oversimplification, but can't be bothered writing a novel on the subject in a forum post). The technological progress follows an exponential trend since man first invented fire, and it's not going to stop because we hit the theoretical limit of the processing power of integrated circuits.

System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.

System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
If using Wifi/Airport...
Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.
For 10.5/10.6/10.7/10.8, System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...
208.67.222.222

(There may be better or faster DNS numbers in your area, but these should be a good test).
Click OK.
If that doesn't work try changing channels on your Router.

I want to save photos from the Camera Roll on my iPhone to the Camera Roll on my iPad using iCloud. I do not have access to a computer as I am travelling. Is this possible?

I want to back up the photos on my iPhone directly to my iPad. I don't want to use a computer as I am travelling and did not bring my macbook with me. I also don't want to store all my photos in iCloud as I am away for three months and have read that the iCloud only stores for 30 days?
If anyone can help provide a solution that would be fantastic!

Thanks! I've turned iCloud and Photostream on and the new photos are coming through. I emailed my older photos to myself (there weren't that many) to then download to the iPad.
For future reference, do you know how to import older images into Photostream?

I am unable to sync my music, applications, movies, etc. to my iPod touch. The only way I am able to bypass the message that pops out when I try to sync (the one in the title) is by clicking "Apply" instead of "Sync". To do this, I make changes to Apps, Music, or Movies (...) and the buttons "Revert" and "Apply" will replace the button "Sync".
My problem is most likely not due to using many accounts because I only have one and it is the only one that I use. I do not share accounts with my family members. Still, I have tried everything here, nothing has worked for me. Since I don't often listen to Podcasts, I have deleted them from my iPod. I have no idea why I am unable to sync and no one seems to have the same problem as me.

The notes are in the Notes application. Restart the computer and see whether there's an improvement in performance.

In the Music tab of iTunes, do you have 'Include Voice Memos' checked?

I bought stuff off the cloud but it's not showing up on my computer, what do I do?

I've bought a number of items (Movies, music, ect.) off iTunes through the app on my iPad. Yet, when I return to my computer it doesn't show up. I tried going to the store and looking it up but all it says it that "I already own this." I have no idea how to fix this, and if I can't then there's no way for me to get the music onto my older iPods. Help please?

Click on the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage on your computer's iTunes, and you can then potentially redownload them (what types of content that can be redownloaded varies by country). if you can't redownload them then connect your iPad (if you still have them on it) to your computer's iTunes and do File > Devices > Transfer Purchases in iTunes.
If you want future purchases that you do on your iPad to automatically download on your computer's iTunes then go in Edit > Preferences (iTunes > Preferences on a Mac) and turn on automatic downloads.

I have signed out then back into the cloud. I have comfirmed location of the photostream folder. I have have even restored settings on my phone. any ideas on what I can do to get it working again? or do I have to accept defect, and manually save my photos?

Try another Sync. On occasions, I've know a first Sync to behave like this.

I've run diagnostics. Can't find device. I've tried resetting. The toggle has been turned on and off.

Cable works fine on my other iPod. Reset by pressing menu and center button together for 6-10 seconds. Left it to charge for many hours. Started acting up while running. Suddenly the music stopped playing but my Nike + was still working for the rest of my run. Took it straight it home and plugged it in to the wall to recharge since the battery was fairly low. Looked like it recharged ok but then screen went blank and now does it not show up on iTunes, does not seem to recharge by the wall charger (apple wall charger plugged into a surge protector in India). I have turned the hold switch off and on many times.
Sounds like a repair issue, which is not easy to do in India :(

Trying to download my purchases from my iPod but it is not working. I have a new OS on an old computer and I can't even download the songs from iTunes because it thinks the songs are already on this computer. What should I do?

Tried to back up music before new OS was loaded but for some reason, it only kept artists through the letter J. I did not realize that until I restored my iTunes under new OS. Now I tried to download my iTunes purchases from the iPod and I can select the "Transfer Purchases from iPOD" but then nothing seems to happen. I tried to download form iTunes and it says the songs are already on my computer. This is either because I did originally download them to this computer on the old operating system or because the names are still in iTunes even though the file associated with them is not. I'm not sure. I don't know what to try next but it is nearly 600 songs so I need to figure it out.

Every time I try to load firefox, WindowsXP says firefox is already running but not responding and before it can load another I have to shut down the one running and reboot my computer.

My problems started when I downloaded Ilivid downloader, after I loaded the program and watched the short video the program started messing up my computer. It spread itself all over my hard drive, changed my homepage, my search engine, locked me out of being able to change certain settings, made some of its files undeleteable and since then my firefox will not load. I removed my version of firefox and reinstalled it several times. I still got the same response. I went into the registry and deleted all references to Mozilla and Firefox and reinstalled it again, same response. I spent days trying to delete all references to ilivid downloader and every file I could find that made any reference to ilivid. I hope you can help me with my problem. I like using firefox and would like to start using it again. Thanks

Try closing any running instances of ''firefox.exe'' (and plugincontainer.exe) using something such as Task Manager. That should allow you to then restart Firefox.
As for iLivid. Possibly it also has associated apps or extensions with names not including the word iLivid. Looking at their own FAQs there are instructions to remove iLivid using the Windows Control panel, and mention of other bundled software that you may wish to remove. It seems it is more of a nuisacne rahter than out and out malware.

My iPod is stuck on the Apple logo and won't do anything! It won't turn on, doesn't give me the option to power it off, and to top it all off, it's not being recognized by my computer OR by iTunes when I plug it into my computer.

I am in the same boat. I tried repeatedly to contact iTunes support, but was told each time that I had contacted the wrong deaprtment and they could not help me. There must be a way to still be able to use the iTunes store without paying for a system update. If not, I hope they will reimburse me the money I have in my acount.

We are using VS 2013 (premium) and IE 10.0, scripts have been created on the same versions. It is working fine on
developers command prompt but the same tests are getting failed in lab center test agent machine
