The number is unavailable message

Let me state up front this post does not involve the use of Skype numbers. I am living in Victoria, Australia and use Skype Credit from my computer to phone landlines overseas. Approximately two weeks ago I started to get the message "the number is unavailable" when trying to phone my cousin and his wife on their landline in Connecticut, U.S.A. (Area 1203). It is only happening with their number. It is not happening with the phone number for another cousin in New York State (area 1845). My cousin's wife in Connecticut has confirmed there have been no changes made to their telephone service. I deleted this contact from my list and recreated it but am still getting the message "the number is unavailable" whenever I try to call. Has anyone come across this problem? Thank you.

As I do not know how to edit/update my original post I am choosing to reply to my own post. This morning, I decided to once again try to get through to the Connecticut number of my cousin using my Skype Credit and to my surprise, this time it worked. I did not get the message "this number is unavailable". As previously reported, about three weeks ago I started to get this message. I learned last night from my brother, also in Australia, that he too had not got through successfully. As it was only this number we had a problem getting through to, maybe the fault was to do with my cousins provider? Thank you to all who viewed my original post. I hope this reply, while not exactly discovering why I was having difficulties getting through, will let you all know it is working again. Best wishes.
