The number next to a device name in profile manager

Hi all,
We are still using Lion Server and yesterday I was pushing some new settings to our managed devices and I noticed some of the devices have a number next to the device name like this......
What does it mean?

The only way I have found to change the device name in Profile Manager is to change it on the device itself, then wait for the updated info to reach PM.
The option to "set the computer name to computer record name" will set the computer name to the name of a computer record that matches in Open Directory (based on MAC). This option would allow you to change the device name in Profile Manager in a round about way... change the computer record name in OD, wait for the change to make it's way to the computer, then back up to the Profile Manager. In my experience, this doesn't take too long.

  • Set or Change Device Name in Profile Manager

    Hello,
Is it possible to set or change the device name of an enrolled device using profile manager?
I notice WGMs old 'Set computer name to computer record name' is still there under Login Window options, but I couldn't find away to actually change the record name.
    Am I missing something obvious?

  • What does the number next to my device indicate?

I was recently on iCloud.com and I always see this number in parentheses next to my device. I was simply wondering what it means.
    Thanks in advance,
    Alan

It seems to be a networking issue with Yosemite right now, in which the bonjour service will erroneously generate multiple instances of your Mac on your network, possibly arising due to an issue with wake on demand partnering with a Bonjour sleep proxy running on an Airport Base Station or Time Capsule.  If you are connected to your network through an AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule, you can fix this, at least temporarily, by launching AirPort Utility from Applications>Utilities, selecting the AirPort, then going to Base Station>Restart.  After it restarts, go to System Preferences>Sharing and change your computer name back to it's original name again.  If you haven't updated yet, try installing the 10.10.1 update too.

    becky_123,
The number tells you how many podcast episodes you have downloaded but not started listening to yet, i.e. how many podcast episodes have blue dots next to them.

  • What does the number next to Movies mean?

Im trying to figure out what the number means next to the Movies section. It has not changed in months even though I have added many movies.
    Can anyone answer this?
    Thanks,

Nevermind, I figured this out. Its number of movies that are unwatched.

  • How do I get rid of the number next to the "phone" icon for missed calls on iPhone 4?

I realize that this number is telling me the number of missed calls and/or voicemails.   However, the number remains on the main screen after I have looked at the missed call (opened "phone" and then "missed").  I can only figure out how to get it to go away when I call the number of the missed call from the missed call menu, which I don't always want to do.  How can I make the number go away without calling the number for the call that I missed? It's probably a silly question but thanks for helping!

I have same issue I dont want to call it and why should I have to go to Voicemail when there is no voicemail?? My screen did go dark and when I relit it it went away...very weird???

  • Devices enroll but do not appear in the Devices section in Profile Manager

    Hi,
I am able to download and install the enrollment file, and when I check the devices enrolled by a user I can see the device attached to that users name, but when I click the link arrow next to the device name or go into the devices page, the device doesn't appear. Anyone have a solution for this? It's preventing me from managing any devices as it appears as if they are not there. I also notice that the Enroll button is still there in "my devices" after successful enrollment.
    Thanks,
    David.

Just in case anyone else get's this issue I managed to fix it by first enrolling the device then entering a place holder for the device in profile manager using that devices serial number. Then it seems to recognise the device

  • How to configure the memory settings based on the number of VSAs for Cisco service control Subscriber Manager?

    Hey Good day to all,
please help with this; when installing the Service Control Management Suite Subscriber Manager scms-sm, and at the secound step where you have to determine the system memory settings, there are several attributes to be considered:
the maximum number of the subscribers
    with or without qouta manager
    number of VSAs used
    so, my question is about the memory configuration parameters versus the number of VSAs used, since you must multiply with certain values, set already on a table on the Cisco website, but as shown in the example under the table these values are multiplied to all the attributes except that the example dosn't show the value of the temp-size memory;
so please confirm this to me:
the temporary memory size "temp_size" is not related to the number of VSAs implemented!
this is a screen shot from Cisco website:
thank you in advance for helping

    Hi Tessitori,
The best way to cache, index and query that amount of data in Coherence is to use a number of stand alone JVMs (i.e. com.tangosol.net.DefaultCacheServer s) to 'manage' the data. Then access (query) that cache from your application servers instances. For an indexing and querying example take a look at this FAQ item
If you would like to discuss this further please email me at [email protected]

  • What is the intention of the buttons next to my playlist name?

When I'm playing a playlist or genre, there are buttons that look like "play" and "shuffle" next to the name of the playlist or genre. They seem to skip to the next song. Is that what they're supposed to do? It'd be nice if there were tooltips to tell me what the intention is. Still not terribly intuitive, but better than before I suppose.

You'd think they would be the same, wouldn't you? Here's what I think I've discovered, though:
    - the Play button next to the playlist will start a track playing, and if clicked again sends the track back to the beginning rather than stopping the track. I'm not quite sure the purpose of that would be.
    - the Shuffle button next to the playlist picks a random track from the list everytime it's clicked. It allows you to manually shuffle the playback without setting the list to always shuffle.
    - the Shuffle button up in the progress window toggles Shuffle on and off for the playlist overall so that any time the list it played it shuffles. How this works if a track belongs to multiple playlists I haven't yet figured out, but it seems that unlike earlier versions of iTunes, Shuffle cannot be set for individual playlist; it seems to be all or none, though I'm not certain.
    Definitely not intuitive.
    Regards.

  • What does the number next to movies in the sidebar mean?

There is a number "1" next to the cloud icon in the sidebar in the "Movies" column.  I understand what it represents for podcasts and apps but I don't know its significance under movies and I can't get rid of it.  Any help?

  • What does the number after my wireless client name mean

I have an airport express and have set up my network properly.  Just recently I have noticed that there is a number (sometimes in parentheses, sometimes not) after the wireless client name when I look at my network with my airport utility.  What does this number stand for and why does it keep changing?

This is a known bug in Yosemite.
    On your Yosemite Macs.......
Open System Preferences (gear icon on the dock)
    Open Sharing
Edit the name of the Mac to what you want
Things may be OK for a day or two, but the (2), (3), (4), etc will come back to visit until we get a fix from Apple
I don't have an AppleTV here to check, but you can probably change the name in the settings for the AppleTV.

  • I accidently clicked a little arrow next to my devices name.....

(on the side bar where you click to edit and sync your phone) and now itunes wont detect my phone. Can anyone help?!

    Hi,
My First Admin account on my G4 was base on my Name (As I entered it in the Set Up Assistant)
I did the same on my MacBook Pro and ended up with two computer's called Ralph Johnss Computer (Written with the double s that to the software)
I used The Address Book (My Card) to change the User's Info there as iChat uses that for the Bonjour List.
I used System Preferences > Network > Advanced Button > WINS to change the NetBOIS Name.
I have also used the System Preferences > Sharing to change the .local name.
Some of these need more care than others in changing, such as the .local name, as other issues can arise.

  • HT204074 I have a family of 6 people.  How do I increase the number of computers and devices I can link to my Apple ID?

We each have an iPad and also have an iMac, three MacBook Air laptops and four iPod Touches.  What I am now finding is that I can only have a maximum of 10 devices (including a max of five computers) associated with my Apple ID.  Surely there is a work around for larger families who are loyal Apple fans?
