The old Google Chat / Messaging APP Problem.

ok so i HAD google chat working er, for a while and now its back to broken, did the usual tests we all do, delete everything, redo, make sure its all 100% accurate blah etc and came to thsi weird result.
making a new google account and using that = failed, the email app logs in gets all the mail no problem but the messaging app just loads forever trying to sign in and does nothing, weird as both apps use exactly the same account details.
however i tried a different approach and it works, why it works is beyond me, i created a new chat account via the actual google chat client on the pc, you get an option to setup a new google account/mail or use an existing non google one, in this case i used a spare hotmail account, i then tied that hotmail account into my primary google email account via the google webpage account prefs, set it as the secondary email.
I clicked new account on the touchpad, selected GOOGLE, then just entered my hotmail email which id just linked in, entered the password, and whammo it instantly works.
I'd have to ask why? and why does the proper method fail using a real google email, i only have 1 google email and wanted 1 seperate for the touchpad so i didnt have to use the 1 i use everyday on the pc but ALL newly made google accounts just fail time after time.
any thoughts here?

it still doesnt work using the google email, deleted or otherwise, google chat will ONLY work when i add my hotmail details (secondary email on my google account) and not the actual google created email (primary mail), however the email app woudl always funtion with the google email flawlessly and only the messaging app would choke on the google email.
so now i have a sort of weird setup in my accounts list where the hotmail account/email is up for use by only the messaging app, i had to untick all the other options and just leave "Use Account With, Contacts ON, Messaging ON, and disabled Calendar/Email/Documents", but the google account/mail is used perfectly by every other app.

  • How do I delete the old Google Maps applicaiton

I think I have a problem that many wish they had prior to google releasing an updated Maps application.  I updated to iOS6 and got the new Apple Maps app, but still retained the Google Maps app as well.  This is one of the kind of apps that can't be deleted, like SMS, Phone, etc.
I can move it around, and generally used to just stuff it away on the last page, but now I want to make an effort to remove it.
Looking at the file system, at the .ipa files, the built in .ipa's are not included.  Anyone know where those are stored, so perhaps I could remove that, to see if it would remove it from my phone on next sync?
I did a backup and restore the other day, still no change.  I did a backup, completely erased my phone to factory, then did a restore, which also didn't work.  And finally, though I really didn't want to, I went ahead and erased my phone with the intention of rebuilding it from scratch, though the darn Maps app was still there, so  just backed up a step and did a restore to my last backup point to save the hassle of setting up my phone from ground zero.
I have added two screen shots, one wiht my mouse selecting a normal app so you can see I get the "X" to delete icon on the app, and the other with the maps application selected so that you can see I DO NOT get the "X".
I filtered the left list to just the google ones, but have tried various other combinations such as "maps" to locate it, it is not in the list, just as "phone", "sms", and "mail" are not in the list.
    Any help would be appreciated

Older versions of the SMS app I don't even believe we're called "SMS" but "Messages" though I could be wrong on that. There were differences in the SMS app regarding FaceTime. The current app has a button at the top that allows you to jump that conversation into FacrTime. Older versions didn't have that button as FaceTime was not released yet.
Yes, I can delete the new Google Maps App, it is an app I downloaded from the App Store. What I can't delete is the icon labeled Maps, which is also a google app, not a bookmark.
For the large majority of users of iPhones of compatable hardware, when they upgraded to iOS6 the Google maps application that was part of a default iPhone installation was deleted. In it's place was installed Apples debatably botched Maps application.
In my case, that didn't happen. I was left with both applications still intact. At first I didn't even understand why everyone was so upset with Apples Maps implementation. From my perspective, if they didn't like it they could simply use the Google Maps application they had been using all along. Then I started to see people asking where they could download the old Google Maps App and it started to make sense. Their system no longer had the app. They only had one choice, Apple 's Mapping app, while I still maintained both choices.
I'm looking for others who have experienced this and solved it. I've seen similar cases where different apps hang around longer than they should, but never found a solution. I assume over time enough users will report this to Apple and a software update will correct it. I however, would like to correct it now.

  • TS1702 how to get the old version of an app?

How do i get the old version of an app?

Do you still have the old version on the computer that you sync from ? If you do then you can delete the version from the updated iPads (does the app have any content in it that you need to copy off first ?) and then connect them to that computer and sync it back onto them.
If you have the new version on the computer that you sync from then delete it from there, connect one of the iPads that still has the old version on it and do File > Transfer Purchases which should copy it over, and then delete the version from the updated iPads and then connect them and re-sync the old version back onto them.

  • How can I distinguish between iMessages and SMS messages in the iOS 7's "Messages" app?

I often chat with the same contact using both services, but I just have a duplicate contact thread in the "Messages" app, which I cannot distinguish unless I go into the thread itself and check to see whether the conversation is blue or green. Is there a way to distinguish between the two services? If so, how?
If not... Apple, get on it.

Excuse me great powerful one. I will certainly deal with it and I'll try to survive. Sorry if I have troubled you, great Sir. I am not worthy of your answers.
BTW: If you would have read the Q thoroughly you would not have posted an exact same answer.
"...unless I go into the thread itself and check to see whether the conversation is blue or green. Is there a way to distinguish between the two services?"
And I got your reply saying:
"Yes, by going into the thread itself and check to see whether the conversation is blue or green."
    Wow, that was heplful.

  • How to see iPhone contacts (synced from Google) in Messages app on Mac

I use Google contacts as my master contacts
My iPhone 7 (iOS 7) Contacts are synched with Google Contacts.
The Messages app in the iPhone shows the names of the people I'm messaging with - however
The Messages app in my iMac (Mavericks) does not show the names of the people I'm messaging with -- it shows just their phone number
How can I configure my iMac so that my Messages app shows the names of the people i'm messaging with?
From what i can tell, I need to figure out a way to sync my iMac Contacts app with the Contacts app on my iPhone via iCloud.
When I configure iCloud to sync contacts between the iPhone and the iMac, the synchronization is one-way only.  Any contacts in my iMac show up in my iPhone.  But all my other contacts in iPhone (synched from Google Contacts) do not show up in the iMac.
How can I synch ALL my iPhone Contacts to my iMac?  (including the ones that are in the iPhone because they were synched from Google Contacts).
    Thank you.

Sync the contacts on your Mac with Google Contacts as well... There is no need to involve iCloud.
Perhaps you should take a look at Google's help pages.

  • I've paid $ 3,99 for Xcode for Snow Leopard. Now there is a new Xcode for Lion, so I downloaded the new one but the installed continued to be the old one. Now App Store says "Installed" and don't allow me to re-download Xcode. How can I proceed?

I've paid $ 3,99 for Xcode for Snow Leopard 12 days ago. After installing Lion I saw there is a new FREE Xcode for it, so I downloaded the new one but after installing automatically Xcode for Lion the Developer folder contained the old one. I deleted the old Xcode but the App Store says "Installed" and don't allow me re-download Xcode.
How can I proceed? I'm guessing whether this problem will occur each time I buy an application from App Store.

Yes, that's righ, Xcode installer was in the Apps folder. I assumed it had been automatically installed and the installer deleted after installation (the same way as Lion is installed).
I tried also the procedure for redownloding applications, and MAS showed both Xcodes (Lion and Snow Leopard) and OS X Lion. We see that buttons for Lion and Xcode for Snow Leopard say 'Install' but Xcode for Lion says 'installed' because there is an Install Scode in the Apps folder.
    Thank you.

I recently upgraded to Mavericks and hate the emoji emoticons in Messages.  How do I get the old emoticons back?

You can turn the Emoji off here:
    Edit->Substitutions->Text Replacement->Emoji
Apple is using the Emoji as their standard now. The old emoticons are gone.

  • How can I sign out or remove the old apple ID in app store's updates?

I created a new apple id and signed in the app store. When I update my apps, it requires me to sign in with my old apple id, and I cannot sign out my old id. How can I sign out or remove the old id in app store's updates?

Delete those applications and then download them from the new Apple ID. This may require repurchasing them.

  • Message app problems

Can't access message app from iphone5.  Soon as I open the app, it closes.  software up to date, tried system reset.  Any suggestions?  Thanks!

Double tap the home button. Find the Messages app there, hold down on the button until you see the sign and close the app. Then do a reset, hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. After the phone reboots, then try. If that doesn't work, then you need to do a restore, first from a backup and if no joy, then restore as a new device. A restore will delete all data from the device. Make sure you have backed up, imported photos, synced calendar, contacts, etc. Restore from backup will put it all back, however restore as new and you need to sync all data back. You will lose saved game data and SMS history.

  • I try to boot the old T2150CDT - error message "sector not found reading drive C"

    Hi,
I came by one of these and am trying to fire it up, but I keep getting the message, "sector not found reading drive C". I get this message right after the windows 98 logo appears.
Problem is that I'm limited in what I can do, because I have no floppy drive and dos doesn't recognize the CD Rom drive (drivers missing); although I can hear it during boot up.
So I took the HDD out and pasted the windows 98 installation files into it; then tried to reinstall, but I again get the "sector not found reading drive C" message. Is the drive too large, (It's about 2.1 gigs.)
Would installing the correct drivers for the CD Rom allow me to install from a CD?
    this usually works
    Thanks,
    john

As far as I know the error message; sector not found reading drive C" appears because of these three different reasons:
    - physical HDD fault
    - corrupted HDD file system
    - bad RAM
In first case you should try to format the whole HDD and should try to install the new OS.
If it will not help, the chances are that the HDD malfunctions and must be replaced.

Messages was available for OS X Lion as a beta, but it expired on December, so it's not possible to use Messages with Lion now. If you want to use Messages, upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion
