The operation cannot complete because there isn't enough memory (RAM) available? Anyone had this issue?

I was working on a file, closed it briefly, then reopened it but didn't open and continued to get the message that I don't have enough memory.
The file is not huge at all. 41.3 MB
Anyone had this issue before? Need help soon. Need to send this file to the printer.

OK. I figured it out. I just opened the file on Illustrator CS5 instead of CSS. It opened fine, but still didn't resolved the issue why CSS couldn't open that file, but CS5 can.
If anyone has an answer for that, I would really appreciate it.
Would prefer to send files to the latest software versus using an older program.
Thanks!

    Illustrator CS5 Verison 15.1 on a MacBook Pro Retina, 15-inch, Early 2013 Processor  2.7 GHz Intel Core i7, Memory  16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3,
Graphics  NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB. Illustrator opens .ai and .pdf files. When I try to open a .dwg file, I get the following message, “The operation cannot complete because there isn’t enough memory (RAM) available”. I have been using the program for some time to successfully open .dwg files. This is a recent occurrence and I have not made any changes to the hard drive other than installing OS 10.9

Have you already opened that specific file at some former time?
Have you already tried a restart?
    Apart from that:
Illustrator CS5 cannot use more than 3 GB of RAM, no matter how much is installed. OS 10.9 causes all kinds of problem even with newer versions of Illustrator.

Hi I got this message "The operation cannot complete because there isn't enough memory (RAM) available." when I was trying to scale the image or transform it to 3D. I just signed up for Adobe Creative Cloud a few days ago. Please help. Thank you.

  • CS5 - The operation cannot complete because there isn't enough memory (RAM) available

    Hi,
I keep getting the above message whenever I try to perform any 3D functions in Illustrator. I have Adobe Premium CS5 V5 and am using Windows 7 Proffesional on 2 machines:
    desktop pc:
Core i5 3.33Ghz/4Gb Ram with an independant graphics card: ATI Radeon HD 4550 (512mb Ram)
    and a laptop:
Core i5 2.4Ghz/6Gb Ram with Geforce 310M graphics.
Both are brand new setups and I am local administrator for both machines.
The Pagefile has now been set to 3x Ram size (was originally managed by Windows) to see if it resolved the problem but it has not.
Can anyone help with this? we have invested a lot of money both in equipment and software (i.e. 2xAdobe Premiums!) to avoid issues like this.
    Many Thanks

    Hi Wade,
Many thanks again for your continued (and quick) responses.
It seems a bit harsh (of Adobe) that we need to put in extra hardware just to keep the program alive. Particularly when both machines far exceed the requirements stipulated by Adobe's site:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/illustrator/systemreqs/
If I was trying to speed things up or edit something really big, then I could understand the need. But I really am not trying to do anything that demanding.
Just to add, I have noted that I have not set the program to run as administrator, and have remedied this (something in Windows Vista and 7 that allows a user to be administrator but elevating the level of programs is separate. I will monitor to see if this makes any difference also.
Please don't read this as not appreciating the suggestion. We are really getting to stages where we will try anything (i.e. an extra drive will be put into the desktop if, my latest settings change does not work and I can get it authorised).
    I'll keep you posted.

  • CS6 CS5  "operation can not complete because there isn't enough memory (RAM) available"

    Hi,
I told the client (rather foolishly it seems) that I could open a DXF in Illustrator CS6.  I get the message shown even though I have 8g of ram
    any ideas??
It refuses to open in cs5 as well
    file is 4.2mb
    thanks

    iMac 27" 2.88 i5
    OSX 10.6.8

    CS5

A .dxf of 4.2Mb seems large, must be something else in there than a die line. Did they send you a .pdf with this so you know what this looks like. Also if they did not put dimensions on there that can be a hassle as often you have to try every unit you figure out what units the operator was wiring in.
If you can post the file (hightail has a free trial), I have 32gb and can try this for you.

  • Adobe illustrator CS5.1 message: operation cannot complete because there isn't enough RAM available?

These are the issues I am currently experiencing using Adobe Illustrator CS5.1 using my Mac OS X.
    - I am having trouble opening two files at the same time and Illustrator continually crashes because of this.
    - When I try to scale my artwork to a smaller size and add more filters the program also crashes.
    - When I try to add more gallery filters to my filled shapes the entire file at one point loses all colour and only a black and white outline  of my artwork is seen.
The error message saying "not enough RAM" appears after all these crashes.
I had all these issues with 4GB RAM. I have just upgraded my RAM to 8GB and I am still experiencing the same problems.
Why is this issue with RAM still happening?

These crashes only seem to happen to a particular number of files (with a lot of effects and filters).
I think the large number of filter effects are the culprit for these crashes but I need to use these effects to create intricate garment details for my designs (I'm a fashion design student). I'm trying to get an image from three seperate files into one new page but I can't open all three files simultaneously nor scale them down due to these crashes.
    I might give CS6 a go!
    Thank you for the advice!

  • "Could not complete the Save As command because there is not enough memory (RAM)"

I'm trying to save a file and an error keeps popping up saying ""Could not complete the Save As command because there is not enough memory (RAM)". I'm using Adobe Photoshop CS5 Extended. I have no other windows open. I checked the RAM allocated to Photoshop, in the Preferences > Performance tab, and I have tried it at 60% (980 MB) and 90% (1483 MB), still with no luck. I tried Purging the undo, clipboard and history with no help either.
I read a couple of other posts that were similar to this and people suggested " resetting the preferences as described in the FAQ." but is there any way to do this without closing Photoshop?
I can't loose this file, so any help woudl be appreciated.

I'm sorry to hear it locked up on you, and with only a GIF saved (which is probably useless).  Perhaps I should have suggested Select All / Copy first.
As far as what went wrong...  It might be helpful to know some of the specifics:
What operating system are you running?
Do you see any errors in the Windows error logs corresponding in time to this problem, and if so, what are the specifics?
Do you have Photoshop updated to 12.0.3?
What video card do you have, and do you have updated video drivers?
Is OpenGL enabled in Edit - Preferences - Performance?
What kinds of operations did you do since you started the session of Photoshop that ultimately went bad?
What other applications were you running?
What kind of computer is it (specifically, can you install more RAM)?
It might not be possible to pinpoint just what went wrong, but perhaps we could make some general suggestions that might help.

  • Could not complete the smart sharpen command because there is not enough memory (RAM)

    Hi,
I'm trying to complete the AutoSharpen (Filter->Sharpen->AutoSharpen) feature but, i'm getting the following error when i click on "Ok".
Error in Dialogue Box "Could not complete the smart sharpen command because there is not enough memory (RAM)".
Request the SME's and Adobe community team members to help me overcome this step to proceed further.
    I'm using a 32 Bit Win7 OS and have a 4GB RAM on board.
    Regards,
    Sachin_

As Curt says, Photoshop got more hungry for RAM from CS4, and 32bit systems just weren't cutting it, but there was a trick we used to use to squeeze a bigger slice of the available installed 4Gb
Run the Command Prompt as Administrator, and type:
"bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVa 3072"   (I can't remember whether the quote marks are needed or not.)
That used to work for me with XP, and it is _supposed_ to work with Windows 7, but I know it doesn't always.
If it doesn't work, or has unwanted consequences, turn it off with:
    "bcdedit /deletevalue IncreaseUserVa"
If you want to research it before trying, seach for 'Windows 7 3Gb switch'.

  • "The operations cannot complete because of an error" DFER

I frequently use preview to view exports of images from Adobe Illustrator on my Retina MBP. Typically I export an image, then I view it in Preview. After viewing, I make changes then re-export while the file is still open in Preview. It usually works fine and when I change the focus to the preview window the view is updated to the latest export, very slick. The issue is that after a few exports over minutes or even hours I eventually get this message: "The operations cannot complete because of an error" DFER
It appears to be a file sharing issue caused by the Preview app making it so Illustrator can't overwrite the file anymore.
My question is, why does this process work fine the first few times only to stop and require me to quit Preview before I can export again?? Just closing the open Preview window doesn't fix the issue, I have to fully quit Preview to be able to export from Illustrator.
Is there a work around that will let me continue viewing the same file in Preview no matter how many times I overwrite it using Illustrator?

Save the file as pdf with the "Preserve Illustrator Editing capabilities" checked.  Rename the file from .pdf to .ai

I had the same experience. No updates or changes, just an error out of nowhere. It doesn't seem to affect the performance of Illustrator. Just a couple of annoying error message click-throughs at startup.
First error message: "The operation cannot complete because of an unknown error. [CANF]"
Second error message: "An error occured while processing the appearance of an object."

    Please some help

For resolving your issue, you are able to do as the followings :
     1.Close  any SkyDrive related process
2.Open  a command prompt (not PowerShell), and change to the directory where Microsoft Office 2013 is installed by typing the command below:
     cd C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office15\
3.Then type “groove.exe /clean /all” to clear all SkyDrive Pro cache and settings, setting it back to default again
Here is a similar post for your reference:

If the issue still exists after doing the above steps, actually we have a dedicated support team regarding this kind of issue. I recommend you post a new thread in another forum where is staffed by many experts focusing on the Microsoft SkyDrive Pro client
    issue.

In my MAC OS X 10.6.8  appear this msg "The operation cannot complete because of an unknown error (PARM)"

When I called Adobe, I was pretty much told that they would not offer any assistance. I offered to purchase the incident support, but they said that wasn't an option with this problem. I had to badger the guy just to get him to say that he believed it was caused by an inability of our network account users to write to the local hard drive. What is below is the results of my attempts to research and solve the problem from that point.
The way we addressed it was to make a second partition (only 10GB) on the local computers and give full read & write access to it for everyone. Then, we instructed our students to set their Scratch location to that new partition. This does indeed resolve the [PARM] error and some problems trying to save and open large files. It does not address the SUITEPEA errors we are getting in our console log though.
    To change the Scratch location:
    - click Illustrator in the menu bar
    - select Preferences
    - click Plug-ins and Scratch
    - use the drop-down menu to change the Primary scratch disk
    - click OK
Sadly, the above must be done per each individual user and I have not yet found a way to push the preference using Workgroup Manager since the Illustrator preference file is not a normal .plist and the Scratch portion is a rather lengthy string of characters. Adobe did not make this one easy on us and they're not willing to support it (or weren't in my case).
I wish the rest of you better luck than I have had on this issue.
The funny thing is - if Adobe used /Users/Shared for the default scratch location instead of whatever location it currently is, I don't think this would be a problem since all users (in a default Mac OS X install) have full access to /Users/Shared

I manage computer labs for a small college and we recently installed Adobe CS3 Design Premium on our Macintosh labs. Some google searching suggested multiple means of dealing with this, from Disk Utility Permissions Repair to plug-in issues/removal. So far, nothing I have tried has yielded any results. My latest attempt was fully uninstalling CS3 using the utility on the CD, and then manually removing all remaining portions I could find on the hard drive (prefs, remaining folders, etc...), rebooting, and then resintalling, but have found I encounter the same result.
Does anyone know what this SuitePea is or what to do about this kind of error?
