The optical disk unit ejects the disk after loading my new DVD-RW.

Problem: My Pioeneer DVD-unit doesn’t accept the grand new DVD-RW disk. The DVD unit is just checking the disk for 30 sec and then ejecting the disk. There will be no icons in the Finder that confirms the appearence of the disk. The same poor reslut with all my 20 DVD/RW disks in the same package. On the contrary I can read the same DVD brand type DVD-RW whre I have burnt some songs with my Amilo PC.

USB connections are by nature designed to be plugged and unplugged as needed.
Unless the BackupDrive is backing up, you could potentially drag the drive to the Trashcan before disconnecting the cable, and then disconnect.
The Scanner should also have no issues being unplugged.
If You don't need the keyboard while burning, You could unplug that.
The Mouse you'll likely need, to interact with the burning software, so probably that would not be a good thing to unplug.
All in all the Scanner and Keyboard should be the least hassle to unplug.
For the future you may want to buy a USB HUB so you have more USB ports you can use without having to unplug things.

I keep the XML files around after every load for a variety of reasons :
- Loading to other applications : I'll generally make changes in dev / test and move to production. I guess I could probably get LCM to do the moving around; however, we're not big users of it at this point. I just load the file into the next app. It's pretty easy to open the client and hit load metadata. ;)
- Historical Records : Since I keep a copy of every 'major' load into the system, I can easily 'roll back' or tell you when a change was made as far back as I want.
- SOX Audits : Part of our controls is to ensure that changes loaded to production are approved through our documentation process. Having the files allows them to confirm what changes were made when.
- Point in Time comparisons : Pretty much just like the SOX Audit, I will periodically review two points in time to see what has changed. For instance, every year when I roll out our budget Smartview template, I compared the current metadata to the prior year to do a quick check to see what accounts have changed. Depending on what has changed during hte last year, I may need to update my template accordingly, etc. [I use an XML differencing tool to do the comparisons]
- Insurance : ' I'm not paranoid, I just know everyone is after me ' While I keep backups of my databases, etc, etc, I like having the file versions 'just in case'. If any of my other tools malfunction or I lose a backup, I can always grab my trusty files and reload.

Cannot see the StockPortal after adding a new portlet

I tried to create a new protlet using EBCC for which I
1) Created a jsp page and deployed it in a folder in the protlet directory
2) Saved the settings after pointing the portlet content to the newly
created jsp
3) Then synchrinised the setting using the synchronise option
but as soon as i tried to access the stock portal again it gave me the
following error which was not there before i created synchronised the
portlet.

It looks like for some reason the data sync was not completed properly.
Prior to doing the data sync, make sure the correct application is running
(e.g., if you are sync'ing to stockportal, make sure you started the server
using <portal-home>\config\portalDomain\startPortal.bat). Make sure you
have opened the correct application in the EBCC, and make sure your
connection settings are correct -- the application name and server
information are set under Tools/Connection Settings. When you do the data
sync, make sure you use the correct userid and password (e.g.,
system/weblogic).
You can check to see what data has been synchronized by using the Data
Repository Browser application. To view what applications the target server
is able to see, open the data repository browser by entering this URL into
your Web browser: http://localhost:7501/portalDataSync/index.html (assuming
you are using the portalDomain).
A good place for documentation on this is "How Application Data is Organized

Google`s Adsense are not shown in a frame after loading a new page in the frame

First step:
Please go to http://www.finanz-links.de/test.htm
You see "Page 1". (There are 2 other pages: "Page 2", "Page 3" in this test set)
If you click through the pages without loading the frame, all works fine: all 3 Google Adsense ads are shown.
Second step:
To reproduce the error: Go to "Page 1". Click on frame and load it. There are now 3 windows.
Then go from "Page 1" to "Page 2" by clicking on the link "Go to page 2" provided on "Page 1". Two Adsense ads dissapeared and only 1 ad is shown.
Then go from "Page 2" to "Page 3" by clicking on the link "Go to page 3" provided on "Page 2". All Adsense ad dissapeared and none ads are shown.
This problem only occurs in Firefox (not only Nightly). This problem doesn`t occur in IE or Chrome.

Why am I asked to erase IPOD and resync after loading onto new computer

After loading Itunes and my library from my IPOD on to a new computer I now get a message: An IPOD can only be synced with one Itunes library at one time. Erasing and syncing replaces the contents of the IPOD with the contents of this library. If I choose the erase IPOD and resync option am I going to loose my music? I don't understand why it is showing I have more than one library.

if you do it on a different computer its considered to be a different library even if it has all the same songs
just make sure you have all the music on the new computer before you sync it and it will be fine and not lose anything

Superdrive no longer recognizes optical disks after upgrade to 10.5.5

It was handing down my 2007 MacBook Pro 2.2 gHz with a Superdrive fully functional running 10.5.4 with all the security updates. We booted of the Leopard install DVD and did a clean install. Then allowed Software Update to install 10.5.5 as well as anything else that needed updating. Now the MacBook Pro 15" will not mount any CD, DVD. It clicks for awhile then makes like a "boing" sound and kicks out the disk. So, the software install definitely caused this.
BTW, it also has the EFI firmware 1.5 installed and no new versions available for download. My new MacBook Pro has a newer Superdrive firmware.
Another odd thing is that booting from by Carbon Copy Cloner disk we made prior to the install also doesn't recognize any CD, DVD anymore!

Did the DVD drive work before you installed the updates but after you installed Leopard?
In the MBP forums, there were many issues with optical drive problems. There were a bunch of defective drives that failed after a time.
Does the drive show up in the System Profiler? And if so, what does it say?

PS (CS2 or Elements 12) crashes during launch at the step AFTER loading plug-ins

On Lenovo computer running Win7 Home Premium 64 bit PS (CS2 or Elements 12) crashes at teh step that comes after Plug-ins. CS2 used to work on this computer. Also I have Acer netbook with same OS and PSE 12 runs fine.

I am trying to remember exactly what loads immediately AFTER plug-ins, but think that it might be fonts?
If the issue is NOT with different plug-ins, I would check the fonts installed in Windows on the Lenovo against the ones installed on the Acer. Ps is very sensitive to fonts, and a corrupt, or just poorly-written font, CAN cause it to crash. It was written for Premiere Pro's Titler (even more sensitive to font issues, than Ps), but contains some good, general info, plus it has links to Adobe KB Articles, which are specific to Ps.

Hi,
After you get this error goto Tcode SU53 and then you'll get the object and activity for that auth object.
You can then go and check if this is enabled in your auth profile using SUIM tcode and going to users.
If its enabled then you need to check for values if you have authorization to display data for that particular plant.
This is an auth issue and you should get approval from the appropriate person in order for you to look at the Master data and then have the Security or Basis team grant you access to the same.

My sound mix does not sound the same after using Compressor for DVD

Is there something I can do to maintain the sound mix of my original file when converting to the dolby in Compressor. It needs to be louder overall and sometimes the music goes way too low and the dialogue goes to soft. Sound effects were louder and now get quiet during some parts.

You must do some changes in the standard AC3 preset from Compressor. Duplicate it, and chage the following settings:
- Dialog Normalization: -31
- Compression Preset: None
Save it and try it. You must get the same mix and level than your original.

I upgraded to 7.0.1... CNN, eBay, webemail, banjohangout.org (modal windows script needs files from widget) and some other websites do not open properly . I am running XP 32. I upgraded Radeon x1600 video drivers upgraded to v. 8.593 (10.2). Troubleshoot in Firefox 7.0.1 says WebGL & GPU blocked...customer needs to upgrade to v. 10.6 or higher. ATI (manufacturer) does not have V.10.6. What now?
