The OracleXETNSListener service on Local Computer started and then stopped.

Hi,
I practiced with APEX till yesterday.
Today I'm not able to start OracleXETNSListener, thus not able to open APEX workspace.
Whenever I tried to start the listener I got the message below:
"The OracleXETNSListener service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they have no work to do, for example, the Performance Logs and Alerts service."
FYS, I have very limited knowledge about database.
I read about the solutions posted in this forum but couldn't understand.
Below are the files in ..\NETWORK\ADMIN\.
Would appreciate your help.

Hi,
Thank you for your advice.

-) have you started a firewall? Don't know but I have Norton Anti virus program running.

  • Analysis Services started and then stopped, Event ID: 0xC1210000

I just installed SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition and SP1 and SP2. I cannot start Analysis Services.  The message box states: The SQL Server Analysis Services (MSSQLSERVER) service on Local Computer started and then stopped.     I looked in the log files located at: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.2\OLAP\Log and found these entries:
    msmdsrv.log:
    (6/15/2007 10:07:34 AM)
Message: The service cannot be started:
    (Source: \\?\C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.2\OLAP\Log\msmdsrv.log,
    Type: 3, Category: 289, Event ID: 0xC1210000)

    Type: 3, Category: 289, Event ID: 0xC1210000)
During installation I did get an unhandled exception (I don't know what component caused the exception). I have found this in the SQLDUMPER_ERRORLOG.log file:
    06/14/07 17:39:38, ERROR ,               msmdsrv.exe, Unable to open file C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.2\OLAP\Data\FlightRecorderCurrent.trc, error 2
    06/14/07 17:39:38, ACTION,               msmdsrv.exe, Watson Invoke: No
Any ideas how to get this service started?

Does anyone have any idea on this problem?  My installation of SQL Server Analysis Services worked fine.  I now have the same error as Lucy.  This happened after no upgrading of SQLSERVER.  It must have issues with security patches on the OS, or maybe service packs for Visual Studio (2005).  And no reinstallation of the patch is not the answer (or rebooting).
The service times out and tells me to check the logs.  The msmdsrv.log file indicates any unhandled exception -
Message: The service cannot be started: Internal error: An unexpected exception occured. (Source: \\?\C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\OLAP\Log\msmdsrv.log, Type: 3, Category: 289, Event ID: 0xC1210000)

    Message:  (Source: \\?\C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\OLAP\Log\msmdsrv.log, Type: 3, Category: 256, Event ID: 0xC1000016)
I have tried reinstalling, changed users for the service, changes instance names.  The logging tells me nothing, except there is a big problem.
I even installed the SQL Server SP2 hoping to fix whatever the problem was.  Now I also have SSIS throwing an exception and wanting to attach a debugger to it on top of my original problem. After reading about all of the problems with SQL Server SP2, I think I created a bigger monster.  Uninstalling leaves around all kind of files, registry entries, and program numbers.
Thanks for ANY hints to proceed.

    Dear Technet,
Windows could not start the Cluster Service on Local computer. For more information, review the System Event Log. If this is a non-Microsoft service, contact the service vendor, and refer to service-specific error code 2.
My cluster suddenly went disappear. and tried to restart the cluster service. When trying to restart service this above mention error comes up.
even i tried to remove the cluster through power-shell still couldn't happen because of cluster service not running.
    Help me please.. thank you.

    Hi,
Could you confirm which account when you start the cluster service? The Cluster service is a service that requires a domain user account.
The server cluster Setup program changes the local security policy for this account by granting a set of user rights to the account. Additionally, this account is made a member
    of the local Administrators group.
If one or more of these user rights are missing, the Cluster service may stop immediately during startup or later, depending on when the Cluster service requires the particular
    user right.
    Hope this helps.

To start the database in windows you have to start first the OracleService<SID> service.
These are the steps that you have to do at the command line:
    NET START OracleService<SID>
    SET ORACLE_SID=<database sid>
    sqlplus /nolog
    conn sys/password as sysdba

  • Windows could not start the remote services on local computer

windows could not start the remote services on local computer
1075: the dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion

    Hi,
On which system you are facing this issue?
Can you ping to the remote system\server successfully?
Initially it seems that this occur due to services issue on system. Might possible that the remote Services component is not installed or is disabled. For that you can add the remote Services component by using the Add/Remove Programs tool in Control Panel
before attempting to start the service. If the service is already installed then check whether it is started properly. Additional check the relayed service for Remote and verify.
    Hope it helps!
    Thanks.
