The organizer databace is damaged

I spent about an hour chatting with someone from tech support trying to work this problem, then we lost our connection or I took to long trying to respond to directions, I'm not sure what happened.  I can tell you I am not impressed with attempting to correct an issue I am not familiar with thus far.  I have not had this problem until recently.
Each time I open a PDF file; make changes, develop or just review it, then close the document there a "no response" messages followed by a window which states: "The organizer database is damaged and will be reset the next time Acrobat  is launched.  Quite the application and close any currently opened web browsers".  But nothing happens and the same messages appears each time I attempt to use Acrobat and close a pdf document.

The Organizer and Organizer-related commands are not availble in Acrobat X or XI.
The last availability was with Acrobat 9.
The Acrobat 9.x product family passed into End of Support in mid-year of 2013.
As I recall the update to 9.2 made Acrobat 9 ok to use in Windows 7.
However, no updates to the Acrobat 9.x product family make it compatible in Windows 8 or 8.1.
Similar issues are there for the Mac OSs.

  • Acrobat 9 installed on Windows 8.1; upon Save, error every time: "The Organizer Database is damaged and will be reset..."; no "Organizer90" file found (to be deleted, as www suggests for solution with XP, VIsta, 7)

I've installed my old faithful Acrobat 9 Pro on my new Windows 8.1 computer. The program works, but every time I save the document, it tells me "The Organizer Database is damaged and will be reset. Quit the program and close all browsers." (Something close to that text.) I've entered the error online, and a solution does appear for XP, Vista, and Windows 7. It tells me to have Windows Explorer show hidden files, and then look for "Organizer90" within Users/[me]/AppData/LocalLow/Adobe/Acrobat/9.0, and then delete that file -- which will make Acrobat generate a new one. But there is no such file there. Please help with alternate solution. NOTE: When I "Check for Updates" in Acrobat, I'm told that there are no updates available at this time, but also told: "Please note that some updates for the following products cannot be determined at this time: Adobe Updater." Seems like things are out of whack.

Thanks for help. Difficulties continue: When trying to install 9.5.5, I'm told it can't install because the program may not be on my computer, or may be the wrong version. I'm told to check that the program exists. The installed version (9.0) is totally legit, my serial numbers, etc., I've used it for many years. Automatic update seems to be on, but I downloaded Adobe Updater to be sure. Seemed to make no difference. Program does function, but not perfectly. Under "About," it calls itself 9.0, so it would not seem that auto update is taking place. Acrobat on previous machine (Windows Vista) indeed calls itself 9.5.5. (It was installed with same 9.0 package, and presumably updated itself to 9.5.5 over the years.) So summary of current problem: Acrobat 9.0 won't upgrade to 9.5.5 on Windows 8.1.

You must be using an old version of Acrobat as Organizer hasn't been in the last two versions of Acrobat.  Here is the KB that covers that old error:  Error "The Organizer Database is damaged and will be reset..." | Acrobat 9

  • Organizer database is damaged in acrobat 9 Std

I just installed acrobat 9 standard.
When I open a PDF the program works fine, including editing fields etc.
When i close any PDF this error message comes up.
The Organizer database is damaged and will be reset the next time Acrobat is launched. Quit the application and close any currently opened web browsers
I am not sure what the organizer database is, but I see others have had this problem in other versions of this program.
What is the Organizer database? Any help would be appreciated
I tried to repair installation under help and it did not help.

    Hello everyone!
I think I just fixed the problem in Acrobat 9.  I have the pro version and vista business 64bit.
    I navigated to C:\Users\[YOUR NAME HERE]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Acrobat\9.0
I noticed that there was no organizer file or folder inside that folder.  However, I noticed that the two files, Usercache.bin and SharedDataevents were updated at the same time that my acrobat had reported the Organizer database error.
So, in an attempt to logically discern where the problem was coming from, I decided to drag these files to my desktop.  My understanding was that when Acrobat looked for and attempted to access these files, they would not be found.  Additionally, by saving the files, I could (theoretically) easily return them to their proper location if some horrible error occured.
As I theorized, these two files were recreated upon opening Acrobat.  Since I deleted (moved) the files and Acrobat rebuilt them I have not had any trouble.
I believe that what Acrobat does is APPEND the files if they are found in the folder, and if they are not found, it recreates them from a standard template.  I believe the UserCache file probably has the acrobat preferences inside, including the various standard fonts and icc profiles used for printing preferences.
(ICC profiles are pretty neato IMHO and very useful for ensuring WYSIWYG document viewing and printing on various different monitors and printers.  Very good for prepress color constantcy and for reducing the "delta E" of your printshop.)
Anyhoo, because I don't ever use the organizer feature in acrobat, I am unaware of whether the recreation of these files deletes any info with regards to the organizer.  Perhaps special features are reset, but I don't know.  Perhaps someone who uses this feature will report their findings.
The important thing for me is that the VERY annoying message IS gone.
I will be sure to update this link ASAP if the problem reoccurs. I usually create 40-100 pdf files per day for work from web and print sources, so if it reoccurs I imagine it will do so fairly soon.
Hopefully this will help those with Acrobat 9.0 standard as well.
I would do the same thing for Mac using the location given earlier in the thread.  Just move the files or put them on a flash drive so you can restore them if things go south.  If I remember from my Mac days, the OS is pretty user friendly and the fix may be easier than the one for Vista.
Good luck, all and happy Acrobatting!

  • I downloaded some videos to Premier Elements 13 from external hard drive but now the external hard drive is damaged. I tried to open the videos on the organizer which it shows the video but with a yellow ? and says missing file. Is there anyway I can open

I downloaded some videos to Premier Elements 13 from an external hard drive but now the external hard drive is damaged. While setting up my new MAC the external hard drive was dropped and I have been told by an outside source they could not retrieve the files.  It had 4 years of photos and videos on it. I remembered that I had downloaded some of the videos from the external hard drive (before it was broke) to Adobe Organizer 13 when I installed the Adobe 13 on my MACOS X 10.9.5.  I tried to open the videos on the organizer which it shows the video but with a yellow ? and says missing file. Is there anyway I can open these videos?
Any input is greatly appreciated!! I am sick over losing the videos and had a little hope on Adobe Organizer until I was unable to open them.  I am thinking it is due to my external hard drive not being plugged in. I thought when I transferred from the external hard drive to Adobe 13 that it would be there without the external hard drive needing to be attached but maybe I did something wrong.
    Thanks again for any help!!!!

It had 4 years of photos and videos on it.
To what did your camera record those photos and videos - camera's internal memory, inserted memory card, other?
Any remote chance that the latter may still exist for you to use to download the camera files to your new external hard drive?

  • "The file is damaged or is a format that cannot be included in the Organizer"

I have been "repairing" or "restoring" an old photo using PSE 3.0. I scanned the photo to get it into my computer. I began by making 2 copies of the image in case I goofed and needed to start anew. I began "cleaning and cloning" [my terminology, not Adobe's] on a part time schedule. At the end of each sitting, I would close PSE and save the work back to the original file in "My Pictures". [I expect to get chided on this, so fire away.] After I had moved the image into and out of PSE a few times, I was presented with the phrase: "The file is damaged or is a format that cannot be included in the organizer." PSE will not re-open the image now. The Properties show the file to be "Adobe Photoshop Elements Image" and the file name ends with .PSD . I cannot remember precisely what steps I took to close PSE and save the results the last time I worked on the image. I have "restored" or "repaired" about a dozen other old images thus far with satisfactory results [ I may look back and marvel at the naivete of that statement later] and this never happened before. Is this image forever barred from being imported back to PSE for further work? Should I begin the project from scratch with one of the spare copies? I have been using "Adobe PSE 3.0 Classroom in a Book", and "The Missing Manual" [Barbara Brundage] as my guides. Do I need to use the Photo Organizer exclusively to store my "works in progress"? I am using Windows XP Home.

    Larry,
    >save the work back to the original file
As long as you have a backup (as you do) and are not repeatedly saving as jpg which will progressively degrade the file there is nothing wrong with this procedure. (You should save as psd or tif.)
I don't know what happened to corrupt the file but you may be able to save your work. Download the free Irfanview from here:
    http://www.irfanview.com/
Try to open the corrupted psd. If successful save it to another name as psd and again as tif. Then see if either or both can be opened in PE3.
    >Do I need to use the Photo Organizer exclusively to store my "works in progress"?
No. I never include some projects in Organizer unless I want to be able to find them easily later based on multiple criteria.
Let us know how you make out.

  • PE9 "The file is damaged or is a format that cannot be included in the Organizer"

I am trying to rebuild my Photoshop Elements 9 Organizer content after a previous computer was physically damaged beyond repair.
I reinstalled PE9 and told it to import the image files from my HDD. It imported a large number but also rejected a large number with the message "The file is damaged or is a format that cannot be included in the Organizer".
These are files which were happily resident and accessible in the previous PE9 installation on the now-dead computer and there is nothing special about them. They are almost all .JPG format (this is not a RAW or CR2 problem) and those that I have accessed by other means (e.g. with Irfanview) are not damaged.
Can someone tell me why PS9 is not able to import these files ?
    Thank you.

    Hi pacman110,
I was getting the same error message when importing a folder with only jpg images to PSE 9 Organizer (trial version).
Since I read a couple of threads where corrupted EXIF data was a possible reason for import failures, I changed the EXIF data - in the Windows Explorer's file properties dialog (Win 7) - to some value, applied it and changed it back again. After that the import worked fine for that file.
Later I figured out, that all images causing the error were previously tagged in Picasa 3 and later untagged - so these images actually had no tags at import. Tagging the image(s) again (in Picasa) also seemed to solve the issue.
In my case it unfortunately didn't solve the problem, because I wanted to get rid of the Picasa Tag (IPTC keyword). Therefore I removed it using the file properties dialog.
Picasa still shows the image as tagged though. Removing the - on the file non-existing - tag in Picasa results in the same issue as above. At this point the only workaround is to remove the tag in Picasa, close Picasa and set and remove some tag with Windows Explorer, which is pretty annoying regarding the amount of files.
Conclusion: removing a tag with Picasa seems to make jpg images unimportable to PSE 9 Organizer.
Workaround: Add the tag again or remove with Windows Explorer or remove tag with Picasa, close Picasa and then tag/untag the image(s) with Windows Explorer.
    Maybe this helps.

  • How can I get my Nikon D3x raw images to download into the organizer of Elements 6.0

I recently purchased a Nikon D3x and have been unable to view my raw images in Elements 6.0. I have downloaded the Raw 5.4 update. When that did not work, i uninstalled Elements and the 5.4 update and reinstalled them again. I am able to download the raw photos into the  Elements Downloader, but once the photos go to the organizer, i get  the screen saying that "the file is damaged or is a format that cannot be included". According to the Adobe Tech Support Dept., Elements 6.0 is able to support the Nikon D3x, with the Raw 5.4 update. Has anyone else run into this problem and have a solution?
I would greatly appreciate any help.

I was able to see that the 4.2 that came with the Elements 6.0 is still on my computer (by going to the (Orange tab ) Edit/Help/About plug in). I could not find the 4.2 listed separately anywhere on the computer so that I could delete it. Is there a way to do this?  I am  a true novice, so when you say to make sure the old plug in is removed from the File Formats folder are you talking about in Tools?
I am talking about the File Formats folder that gets created when you install PSE. You have obviously been to that folder already because you said you installed Adobe Camera Raw 5.4. Go to that folder in Windows, and make sure that the old plug-in (which was named CameraRaw.8bi, but may have been renamed by you) is deleted from that folder (not renamed, not moved to a subfolder). Then, following the instructions are on the page where you downloaded Camera Raw 5.4, install the new plug-in.

That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

EDIT(11/23/2014 8:31PM PST): For some reason, other projects work for me just fine. I am not sure why it is not working on one project.
Screenshot of a new project other than this I am rendering at the time of writing this edit:

Can other projects can output to the same output location? Yes
Can other projects render with the same render settings (codec, format, etc.)? Yes.
If you create a new composition and just add a solid layer to it with no effects in the same project does it render? No. I still get the error.
Can you render that brand new comp with the same render settings, output settings, output location etc.? Yes.
If so, what effects are present in the offending comp? Twixtor Pro in all the cinematics/clips, Motion Tile and Transform for pan/crop & wiggle, Magic Bullet Looks and Bad TV Warping preset with just Wave Warp & Venetian Blinds for color correction, Gradient Ramp for text, Bad TV Warping preset with everything for effect, Transform for fade in/out, and ReelSmart Motion Blur v4.1.2 for motion blur.
Also, what scripts are you using? Just the Move Anchor Point script I found from one of Mt. Mograph's videos, Summit 16 - 2.5D Minecraft Steve - After Effects - YouTube.
Have you ever installed any third-party codec packs? (I've heard of some codec packs causing weird issues like this.) Yes, (not everything I have, just everything I can think of and find) I have K-Lite codec pack, Fraps, x264vfw, and Xvid MPEG-4 codec.

  • A How To: Create a Widescreen High Definition Slide Show from the Organizer

[EDIT] I just tried another one and, weirdly, that produced an output with black bars around all four sides! So maybe this 'how to' is not 100%.  I have considered deleting the post altogether but, as it does still produce a superior slideshow quality file than the standard ones provided with Elements,  I've decided to leave it with this edit added at the top for additional info.[END_EDIT]
In answering a question in another forum I found a nice quick way to create proper widescreen high definition slide shows from just the Elements Organizer. Apologies if this is 'old news' to readers, but I've not seen this described elsewhere so I thought I'd share it.
The Organizer Slide Show creator, if not wanting to edit in PRE, provides a small set of Windows Media Player profiles to create .wmv files. But the best of these goes only to 1024x768 (a 4:3 monitor resolution setting). I've noticed, but never paid much attention to, that at the bottom of the Slide Size box there is a 'Browse for more' option that lets you search for additional Windows Media Encoder profiles. Investigation showed me that I can download the Windows Media Encoder software from Microsoft and create my own profiles. But even further investigation showed  me that someone had already done this! I've tested their full HD profile and it works just fine (1920x1080).
So if you are just after a straightforward slide show (i.e. not needing PRE features) but want it displayed on your Full HD TV set here is what you do:
Download the HD Profiles from http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/236895-hd-profiles-for-windows-movie-maker/. There's also a couple of useful SD sizes there as well. Save them somewhere you can easily find them.
Create your slide show in the Organizer. Obviously use appropriately sized images for HD. There's little point outputting an HD wmv file using low resolution and/or 4:3 aspect ratio images.
Save and Output your slide show.
In the output dialog ('Save As a File') scroll down to the bottom of Slide Size and select 'Browse for more ...'.
Browse to the file you downloaded in step 1 and click Open.
Click OK and your Widescreen HD .wmv file is prepared.
Here's a Gspot analysis of my test output file. As you can see it is an HD file with a 16:9, square pixel, aspect ratio.
    Ta Da!

You did not mention a specific Premiere Elements Elements Organizer combo for this, so for now I will address this from the version 11, not Windows Movie Maker, perspective if I need to get version specific.
    .prx
The Browse for More is a well known route and does offer at least one Adobe profile for 1280 x 720 16:9. I am not sure where you came up with the lesser resolution,1024 x 768 that you mentioned. The Windows Media profiles have existed for several versions of Elements Organizer. Those Adobe ones that you do not see under Output Save As A File Movie (.wmv), can be found in the Windows 7 or 8 64 bit path
    Local Disc C
    Profile Files (x86)
    Adobe
    Elements 11 Organizer
    Assets
    Locale
    en_US
    tv_profiles
in the tv_profiles Folder are included the .prx files
    .....10. 640 x 480 Enhanced Definitions
    .....12. 852 x 480 Widescreen Enhanced Definition
    .....14 1280 x 720 Widescreen High Definition
A homemade 1920 x 1080 16:9 30 frames per second .prx has long been sought but not that easily produced by many using with the Windows Media Encoder Editor. Apparently you have found one online, and it does get accepted into the Premiere Elements 11 Browse for More choices. And, if you do a gspot readout for the wmv output from Elements Organizer 11, it will display all the "right" properties that you hoped for and that are shown in your screenshot.
The bottom line, why bother with the wmv slideshow? If you take your original photos and size them for 1920 x 1080 16:9, use them in the Elements Organizer 11 Slideshow Editor (Crops used in preferences), use the Edit with Premiere Elements Editor command, what you get in Premiere Elements 11 is full and good in all regard. Have you tried it?
I can see your interest if this is HD going to HD (AVCHD on DVD or Blu-ray disc format on Blu-ray disc, but I do not see this for an Elements Organizer Slideshow that is going to DVD-VIDEO widescreen.
    More later.
