The other day I was writing an essay while listening to my iTunes. Then all of a sudden, the power of my house went out. When we finally got power back, and I was able to open up itunes, over 700 songs of mine were deleted. When I looked in the trash, I saw two things labled "iTunes library extras", and "iTunes library genius". When I tried opening them, it said that I needed to open them with an application, and that I needed to chose one. I chose iTunes. When I tried double clicking on "iTunes library extras" after this, all it did was open up iTunes. Nothing else. Someone please help me because I had a lot of songs that I liked, and recently downloaded. And it will be a pain to get them all back if no one can help me.

Are the files still physically on your HD?
[User]/Music/iTunes/Media/Music is the default location. Unless you suddenly have a bunch of new "free space" on your hard drive, they're still where they were, you just need to create a new library file.

The sync is one way - computer to iphone.
You need to copy everything from your old computer to your new one.

either sync it with itunes and make sure your contacts are selected or choos back up from icloud in your icloud settings.

I dont use iTunes since I have a windows laptop. I use CopyTrans , a program that basically emulates iTunes but is simpler. However it wouldnt allow me to delete U2s album from my phone.
After removing one song iTunes "updated" my phone's song list but in reality just deleted every song on it ( except for U2's atrocious album !!)
Is there any way I can get my songs back?
When I start up iTunes and CopyTrans the songs are still there. However when I attempt to play them they will not play?

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. ITunes deleted my whole music library. I was not performing an upgrade at the time. They disappeared over night without me doing anything. How can i get them back without going one by one?

I woke up this morning to find my computer had restarted itself. I don't know why. Must've upgraded something. When i opened iTunes my entire library was gone. The playlists are still there, just nothing inside them. iTunes didn't upgrade over night since it still asks me to. I've tried a system restore to the day previous but it did nothing. How can i get everything back the way it was? I would really like to not have to import it all again individually.

Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. Note that in iTunes 11 an "empty" library may show your past purchases with links to stream or download them.
In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
Would you mind telling me which anti-virus package you use? It may be that it is disturbing iTunes when it tries to write out the fresh database, as it does after almost any activity with your library. I'm noticing more of this type of problem than usual and trying to see if there is any pattern. It may help to prevent a repeat of the problem if you look at the advanced options for your AV package and see if you can find a way to exclude the iTunes folder from any real-time scanning process.

definitly don't throw your iPod away.
Which iPod touch do you have? And, have you tried shutting it off completely and then turning it back on? Press and hold the button on the top until it powers off, wait about a minute and then press and hold the button until it comes back on.
Let us know what it's like after you do that.

Hook up your iPod, there should be a selection somewhere that allows you to sync the iTunes purchased content ONLY back into your iTunes from the iPod.
Non-iTunes purchased content needs a third party utility, look at iLounge or elsewhere for it.
As always maintan a backup of your content on external medium, cd/dvd/external drive as Apple will not redownload content.
You bought it, your responsible for it's preservation.

It sounds like you may have either set the iPhone up as a new iPhone or restored from a backup that didn’t have your messages on it. If you do have either an iCloud or iTunes backup that you believe has your messages saved, you can restore from that backup to recover your information. If the contacts are still in Address Book on your computer, but just not on the phone, you can tell iTunes to force replace the contacts on your phone with those from your computer. You can do this by going into the Info tab when your iPhone is connected, and checking the Contacts box under the Advanced section at the bottom of the page.
You may also want to backup your Address Book information as well. It's a good idea to make periodic backups of your contact and calendar information in case information accidentally gets deleted or changed. You can find out how to backup your Address Book data here:

Only way to get it back is to restore your phone from a backup, if those pics were included in that backup.
But most likely those pics are gone.
What you should've done was import http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083 the pics to your computer and after you restored from your old backup, you could sync those new pics to your phone via itunes.
