I use iChat AV 3.0 on my G4 iMac. I've never used video with it just text. But ever since I upgraded to TIger I've been getting this message whenever I type "long" messages that are more than 3 sentences. This problem also occurs with AOL Instant Messenger reading that the text I put in is too complex to send. It gets really frusterating when I have to copy/paste my message into chunks. Does anyone have any suggestions? I would greatly appreciate anything!

Sometimes when i send an imessage to another iphone user it comes out as a txt message. I was just wandering why this happens and sometimes when it does the message is never sent to the person.
You can have a separate AppleID only for iMessage and keep using the other one for iTunes.
Just change the AppleID used for iMessage in Settings > Messages > Receive At -
I checked out the home sharing even turn it off and when I try to d/l or update anything my daughters ID comes up I tried signing out of my account. It has all my information but as soon as I try to d/l or update her info comes up HELP!
Store > Sign Out.
Then sign in with the correct ID. -

I can send a IMessage but the other person won't receive it, i can receive theirs though. It shows message delievered
Try running a power cycle = hold the power button till the phone shuts off then re-powers and you might try running system cache clear it's not like a Factory Reset but it can sometimes straighten out phone issues.. If the issue persist you might removing the Sim Card do it with phone off use care when removing leave it out for 10min. then reinstall..

If the other person can't see you during a FaceTime call, first use the Camera app on the iPhone to make sure the camera is working properly. If you don't see an image when using the Camera app, try these troubleshooting steps first:
If the screen shows a closed lens or black image, force quit the Camera app.
Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from any obstructions. Use a microfiber polishing cloth to clean the lens.
Cases can interfere with the camera and the flash. Try gently cleaning the lens with a clean dry cloth or removing the case if you see image or color-quality issues with photos.
Try turning iPhone off and then back on.
If your iPhone has a front and rear camera, try switching between them to verify if the issue persists on both.

On the iPhone 5/5s, can you hear the other person properly when they are lying down?
When I use the iPhone 5s while lying down in bed, the other person is unable to hear me. When someone who is using the iPhone 5s is lying down in bed, I cannot hear them.
Is this a known issue? Has anyone else experienced this issue? Does anyone know what causes this issue? I actually used to have this same issue with the HTC One, and I was under the impression that it had to do with the accelerometer of smartphones. I do not know of any other difference between smart phones and normal phones.
It's rather annoying, such a basic feature of a PHONE product to be able to talk and hear clearly. Major fail, Apple. For this alone, I may consider switching to another phone.

I don’t know if it’s because I have big hands or what, but there many times when people on the other end of the phone can’t understand a thing I’m saying. Specifically, any time I lay down flat on my back, the iPhone 5′s microphones seem to go especially bad. A few times, it’s gotten so bad that the people on the other end of the line hung up because they couldn’t deal with it.Please Apple. Fix this significant bug/defect in your product in your next software update. I know this is a software issue probably related to the Accelerometer detecting that the phone is not upright and then turning off the receiver. Not sure why you would even want to do that.
It is ridiculous that the iPhone cannot perform the most BASIC function of voice calls. After all, that is what you buy the phone for... the texting, internet, applications are all bonus. Phones are used while lying down, upside down, lying on the side, etc. You are basically hurting yourself and your customer base with this significant design flaw. Think about all the couples talking to their significant others when they're lying in bed first thing in the morning or last thing in the evening they are long distance. Think about hospital patients who want to speak with their families. Think about the homeless on the streets with their iPhones lying down calling people to give them money (or not...).
Anyway, you get my point. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE fix it. I only recently changed from being an Android user to an iPhone user... this is seriously my biggest gripe with your product. -
I just put Facetime on my MacBook and Ipad. I can connect and recieve video but no sound. The other person can hear me. If I use Skype everything works fine. I can't find any where in Facetime to change settings for the audio. Any suggestions
Options for when an iOS device gets locked because of forgotten passcode:

i was wondering if it is possible, this person i believe uses a Android or Iphone, for the camera to be turned off for video chat? I can never see the other person but they can see me - and i can see myself during the video chat. My video which they see i also see takes up the whole screen. This issue also is the same for when i use Windows and video chat with this person.

You have to enable it in SKYPE. Open up Sykpe click on tools then select options . When that windows opens select video settings. Then you well see select webcam click on White box select your web cam choices. Windos 7 HP computers it is called HP web camra filter. I just close out the filter stuff if I am not using it during chat session. Some HP computers call it cybrlink web cam. If your web cam isn't listed yet the web cam still works in other applications your Skype software might be corrupted. So annoying! My imessages finally activates but when I have conversations with other imessage users, my side of the conversation is iMessage and theirs is normal message? How can I fix this?
But on the other persons phone, all of their imessage conversations are as per usual except for ours?

I have downloaded the SMS in Iphone to my PC. I am able to seen the other person photo in the conversation but my photo is missing can i attach my photo and name in the message?I would think that would be something to ask the support for the software you used to download the SMS to the computer with.

I am using AIM and so is the other person who i am trying to share my screen with. I log into AIM with an @aol.com account. I can request to share my screen and share the other person's screen. The window will pop up on the other computer, but after clicking accept it will go back to saying that there is a request for screen share. What should I do to fix this?

To be clear, iOS = iPhone and iPad and some iPod Touches and the Operating System they use.
Mac OS X = the Operating System Mac computers use.
Regarding the AOL account, is this actually from AOL and have the Chat/Messaging option enabled ?
Or is it a Name registered with the AIM part of AIM ?
You can have AOL as your ISP and have an email and User ID from them.
This needs to have the ability to use the name as a Chat name enabled (or at least it used to)
AIM, which actually stands for AOL Instant Messaging has it's own registration site.
Nowadays you register for a AIM email (although activating it for mail is another additional step).
It used to be that the bit before the @aim.com bit was the user name you used in Chat applications that could use AIM.
Previous to the current system you could in fact register just a Screen Name with them.
Apple (and a few US based ISPs) also have agreements with AIM that their (Apple, etc.) emails are recognised as Valid AIM Screen Names.
This means those issued by Apple ending in @mac.com, @me.com issued from the iCloud registration and @icloud.com.
(You do have to keep your password to 16 characters or less.)
From what you are saying you seem to be sure that you can see each other as On Line in your respective AIM Buddy lists ?
In Messages in both Mountain Lion and Mavericks you do not have to display the Buddy lists
(See the Window Menu plus the General Section of the Preferences to separate them)
Are you also saying that in the Video menu the option to allow Screen Shares is Enabled ?
Is it done at both ends ?
In iChat you could offer to Share your Screen with a Buddy without the option being On (they could not ask to share yours or offer theirs). I have not tested this in Messages.

TS4268 I can't hear the other person when using FaceTime
I Am able to connect to them but all I hear is a crackling static sound. My iPad is unmuted and the volume is turned up, I am pretty sure it's not my Internet connection because I have never had a laggy connection. Any help would be appreciated.

The other person could have dust in their Mic hole. Use a vacuum to remove the dust.

There have been similar issues with iChat and I will use that as an example first.
In iChat the Mic needs to be On (in the Video menu).
It also needs to be listed in iChat Menu > Preferences > Video section > Microphone Drop down and this needs to match ther Mic set up in System Preferences > Sound > Input.
In addition to this the Mic needs to be "turned up" high enough in the System Preferences to work with the app.
So If you Buddy cannot hear you it is your Problem when it comes to iChat.
If you cannot hear the Buddy it is much more likely that they have not set up the Mic in System Preferences or have the Mic Off in iChat.
Moving to FaceTime you will find a Mic Setting in the Video menu (if you have two or more Mics).
If you do then the System Preferences > Sound > Input and the volume setting there needs to match the choice in the App.
As it is your contact that you cannot hear you need to get them to check their settings first.
As for your end, it will be worthwhile doing a PRAM reset.
Shut down the computer.
Restart it holding down Apple/CMD ( or ⌘)+ALT( ⌥)+P+R Keys until you have heard three Start Up Bongs.
