If you use cleanup software like CCleaner then check the settings for the Firefox application.
Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?

• I am trying to move my bookmarks to a new computer and the procedure on the website just doesn't work, everything looks right but when I open Firefox on the new computer the bookmarks aren't there, just the defaults.

The old computer is running Windows XP, the new one Windows 7. I copied the profile folder onto a USB jump drive and moved it to the new computer. When I paste the old profiles on the new computer profiles folder, all dates change to the current date and time but as I said when I restart Firefox and click on bookmarks I get nothing but the original defaults.

You need to copy the '''contents''' of the old Profile folder into the new Profile folder. Firefox won't recognize the name of that old Profile in the new installation.

• Theme Song Not Playing

Does anyone know why, when a iTunes song is placed in the Audio window of the Menu Info window, it doesn't play? I'm using the Revolution theme.
Thanks,
Peter

The volume is okay everywhere and the file is a song that plays just fine in iTunes and I also tried converting it to an .aif file. The song also works just fine when I create a new project and start from scratch.
I'm also getting a point where no music plays about 7:44 into the project and 30-32 seconds later the music starts up again. This only happens after I've burnt a DVD (of course). And also only happens when I use a slideshow created in iPhoto. But using the same exact photos and two small video clips in iMovie the music is fine, except that when I hit a transition, the picture jumps, comes into focus and then jumps again and goes out of focus right before the next transition.

Hi everyone!
I will be posting this in all "weird sounds topics" just so you know.
These "weird" sounds you hear are from pacman.
Today is Pacmans 30:th birthday and google wanted to celebrate by making the pacman game playable at their website "www.google.com".
You will notice that their logo is changed to pacman with the map swapped out to the text "google".
The game will probably just be here today so all noises will be gone by tomorrow. If you don't want to hear the sound today then please don't visit google or just turn your volume down.
Yours sincerely: LAwLz

I have upgraded from 10.5 to 10.6 and found that all folders/files/pics in my disk drive have 'dotted' (either white or black) patterns on them. But it turns out fine when I open up the affected files/folders/pics. And this phenomenon persisted even after updating to the latest software. I proceeded to upgrade to 10.8 and updated the latest software thinking that this might resolve the problem but still stays the same way as it was. Could it be the Adobe flash player that is causing this problem? Please help.

I found a fix for this, not only firefox but several other networking programs were broken as well (Outlook and IE were ok for some reason) so I reasoned that the Norton uninstall was incomplete somehow - I had done it from the add/remove programs in the control panel. Sure enough that's not enough to release Norton's tentacles in your system, there's an uninstall tool on their website (a whole set of them actually) that managed to carve it out completely and after a restart everything was back to normal. My machines will definitely be Norton-free from now on ... N

• When i open firefox it instantly goes to the bottom of the page then opens a new one. i cant close the pages down the bottom and they are running in the background slowly everything down

This issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

• I have a lot of tabs saved so they open when I open Firefox, but the first tab always changes into my homepage, Google. Is there any way to stop this?

I have 20+ tabs always open on Firefox and it's set to remember them. However, when I open Firefox the first tab changes from what I had open there into my homepage, Google. I can use the "go backward" thing to get to the page I had there, but since it goes back to Google every time I restart the browser that gets tedious.
The only way to solve this that I've found is to just stop trying to use the first tab and let it be Google. However, I'd like some actual solution that stops this from happening if possible.

Thanks for the reply, it seems to have solved my issue.
My tabs are normal and unpinned, I just have Firefox set to open all my current tabs. Safe Mode didn't seem to have this issue, so I disabled Classic Theme Restorer. Several restarts didn't have problems, so I enabled it again and now this isn't happening anymore. Hopefully it stays gone for good and didn't just stop momentarily.
Edit. So as soon as I posted this, it started happening again. More testing definitely points to Classic Theme Restorer as the cause, so I'll have to investigate solutions on that end.

• When I open Firefox, it goes to the first page and then stops, saying "Not Responding" with the cursor spinning. What can I do to fix this? Thanks for any help

When I open Firefox, it goes to the first page I open, but then stops and says "Not Responding" with the mouse cursor spinning. I hit the close button and it says Windows is searching for a solution (which doesn't come).
When I open Firefox again, it says:
Well, this is embarrassing.
Firefox is having trouble recovering your windows and tabs. This is usually caused by a recently opened web page.
You can try:
Removing one or more tabs that you think may be causing the problem
Starting an entirely new browsing session
Any ideas? I gretly appreciate any help. Thanks!!

What is that first page?
Can't you open any web pages in Firefox?
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

• When I open Firefox there is absolutely no toolbar at the top. No 'File' 'Edit' 'View' 'Favorites' 'Tools' 'Help' buttons, no anything. Any idea's??

When I open Firefox there is no toolbar at all. I have tried deleting and then re-downloading it, but when I click on the icon on my desktop, all that comes up is a page that says "Widgets, Gadgets, RSS feeds, and more." There is no search box to surf the web, there is nothing.

• I switched to Verizon ISP. They configured my pc (Win7) to make their tabs appear in Firefox. I do not want them, and I don't want to manually close them when I open Firefox. How do I delete them permanently, or block them from appearing?

They also appear in IE, and I don't want them there either, but that is not so important as I seldom use IE.

The paper you cite has nothing to do with the question I posed. It deals with the page(s) Firefox opens when it starts. My question is about all the little tabs shown at the top of that page -- put there by Verizon -- which I do not want! Before Verizon mucked with my computer only 1 tab showed up there when I opened Firefox: my start page. Now all kinds of tabs to Verizon pages show up there automatically. I want them banished!

QuickTime may need to be reinstalled. Follow the steps below to uninstall QuickTime and then download and install QuickTime using the QuickTime standalone Installer.
On the Start menu, click Control Panel.

Click the Remove button (or Uninstall for Windows Vista and Windows 7) and follow the prompts to remove QuickTime from your computer.
Download QuickTime. Note: There are two options for downloading QuickTime, be sure to select the option that does not include iTunes.

More like whoever coded the add-on is an idiot. Google used a brilliant piece of HTML5 to bring the iconic Pacman to the masses for its 30th Anniversary, and not only do people not recognize its ubiquitous sounds, people are annoyed at Google and Firefox, not the creators of the add-on.
No one did this on purpose, and the ones at fault are the ones who coded the Add-on. Now shut up, your problem is fixed.
