The Perfect Setup?

Hello, I will upgrade some of my gear soon & wanted to take this opportunity to set up a home network.
What is "The Perfect Setup" ?
Gear at my disposal is/will be:
MacBook
iMac
1 x 2GB external HDD
3 x 1GB external HDD
Apple TV
iPhone
iPad2 (soon)
Wifi Router.
I'd like to be able to share my music/movies/podcasts across my devices and/or stream them to my TV.
I'd like to be able to sync some of my music/movies/podcasts across to my MacBook when I travel, knowing that my MacBook HDD is 500GB and that I can't fit it all in.
In fact, I want to be able to have all my files on my external HDD's. I think this makes the most sense.
So there you have it, what is the perfect setup for this? How would you go about setting up a home network with all this?

Get him an Airport Extreme. This way he will not run into any of the problems with third party cheap routers that so many in these boards have. Also on the Extreme you can run the new N frequency for the fastest wifi sharing and get a power USB2 hub and you can plug the two externals hard drives to it, easily.

What's the perfect new-MBP configuration for Logic?

I hope this isn't a troll. I've been waiting, waiting WAITING for the "refresh" of the MacBook Pro (MBP) to come out so I can solve a few performance problems (including my use of Logic which really requires it to be on one of those laptop fan-stands to keep it cool). The good news? The "refresh" is out. The bad news, there is a huge choice -- old-style MBP or retina-display MBP?
I think I've concluded that "old style" is the way to go -- I like to repair/upgrade my machines too much to give that option up. So now I'm working on what to put in it. Hence this post. Given your experiences, what would you stick in the "perfect" old-style MBP if you were in my shoes? Here's what I'm leaning towards.
-- Max out the non-upgradeable stuff when I buy the machine -- so...
   -- 2.7 GHz processor
   -- Hi-Res Anti-glare screen
-- Minimize the "upgradeable" bits (since I'm going to replace them with aftermarket stuff)
   -- 750GB 5400 rpm disk drive
   -- Minimum memory
-- Aftermarket upgrades
   -- Memory
   -- Disk drive
   -- Replace optical drive with a flash drive
Questions:
1) Memory upgrade -- any recommendations on memory that runs cooler than other types? My current setup started running a bit hotter when I swapped in aftermarket memory. I'd cheerfully buy Apple memory to avoid this problem, but maybe there's an aftermarket flavor that is equally good?
2) Disk drive -- same thing, although I'm not cheerful about buying the Apple versions unless I absolutely have to. Throughput is key, right? Anything else I should be keeping an eye on? Again, heat is something I'm trying to avoid.
3) Optical drive -- I am massively confused on this one. I understand the benefits to throughput (and perhaps heat). But which things should go where? OS and other "static" stuff (like application programs) on the flash drive (to avoid the finite-writes problem)? So put Logic Pro and the sound files on the flash drive (I'm thinking that's what I'm going to do)? Put project files there too? Recommendations on brands? Recommendations on optical-drive replacement kits?
4) Anything else that *you're* doing to build your 2012 MBP for Logic?

The RME I use is so intuitive it knows knows my moods and often refuses to record as it knows I'm going to $uck so why bother.
It also decides on which takes to keep.

I have been looking for "The Perfect Portable Hard Drive" which includes a *1TB hard drive*, *FireWire 800*, bus-powered (my opinion), and around $12020. Can you guys find anything?

Finding a FireWire 800 & bus-powered drive is hard enough, but 1TB for only $120? A decent 1TB drive will run you almost $100, I can't imagine you're going to track down such a setup unless you buy the enclosure and DIY.

You can see that the prices are nowhere near what you're looking for in that budget. If you could sacrifice the bus powered requirement... possibly. Or you'd have to trade off the FW800 and go to FW400.

Perfect setup for connector

dear all,
what is the perfect configration for oracle connectre, i tried smtp on connector and pop3 put it cusing problems when forwarding attachemet, i tried smtp with imap but it keeps every thing in the server which take the users qouta, who can i have the best setup without having problem when frowarding attachmant and have every thing localy not on the server.

the problem is in frwarding attachmat on outlook it dosnot froward any attachmant the email is always empty of attachmant which cuzing me and my users a lot of problems wiht out customer. and i cant use imap i need to use pop3 i opended a TAR and oracle support said that pop3 is not supported and it is cuzing this problem.
is there a way to use imap but to download all emails local i mean make imap pop3 in some way

Hi, I would like to ask anyone who would care to awnser, what in their opinion is the perfect vocal mixer setup?
Let's forget about mic-prez, mic type and recording device, let's only talk about the plugins and routing techniques used by some of you blessed talented souls out there.
What I like to do with my vocal tracks go something like this;
CHANNEL 1 (VOCAL) INSERT COMPRESSOR (THRESHOLD -29.0DB, RATIO 4:01, KNEE 1.0, AUTO GAIN ON) + HIGH SHELVING EQ (BOOST FREQUENCY 1500HZ UP BY +3.0DB) + LIMITER (DEFAULT SETTING/PRESET)
I then send that channel with Vocals to a BUS and then on the bus I place the following;
COMPRESSOR (THRESHOLD -17.5DB, RATIO 2:01, KNEE 1.0, AUTO GAIN ON) + EXPANDER (DEFAULT SETTING/PRESET) + REVERB (WATEVER TYPE OF REVERB YOU PREFER) + CHANNEL EQ (USUALLY JUST LIFT THE TOP END A LITTLE) +DESSER (SET ACCORDING TO VOCAL TYPE ETC.) + LIMITER (DEFAULT SETTING/PRESET)
So what do some of you out there think of this setup, for a vocal track? How do some of you guys like to do your vocal tracks? Anything you might want to recommend? Thanks, Chance.

depend of the voice ,depend of the quality of ur take,depend of the mic and even the technik of the singer,depend of the kind of music u produce,depend of so many thing that is really difficult to give the right receipe.
for me the best way to mix vocal is first recording on tape or bringing back on tape after recording on daw.unfortunatly apple didn't provide(yet) any lyrec or studer 24 with logic.shame for (999euro).
more seriousely ,try (with ur hear) a sweet compression that just give stability to the voice.take care with the release,if it 's to fast it could push up the SSSssss and the dirt.equalize as little as possible with wide Q(digital eq can so easaly kill a beautifull take!).then open a nice short room on bus 1 and a beautifull large hall on bus 2,then use the auxiliary send to balance ur reverb. that's a beginning for nice vocal that will keep the relief of the voice.now if ur more in electronic or trash or what else, u can use totally different setting,limiter,delay,modulation etc..but as i told u it depend of so many thing...a good take will provide u 75% of the job(sometimes more) hope that helped u

Is it possible to access the page setup for the printer from a program unit

Hi guys,
I've done a report and i need to print it with a specified superior margin. This is not the margin that we set in the report edit margin button, this is already set, the problem is the pre-defined margin located in the page setup dialog box.
My question is, is there a way (api, etc...) inside the report in which i can access this page setup and configure that margin with the values that i want, programaticaly (runtime)?

Every time i try to open itunes i get the 'Itunes Setup Assistant'

Every time i try to open itunes i get the 'Itunes Setup Assistant' even though i have already installed and configured itunes. And after exiting this i get onto itunes but all of my music is GONE. (even though i know i can always import it back) But this means that whenever i want to use itunes i have to configure it and import all of my tunes again which takes ageees. The, as soon as i go to open it again i have to repeat the whole process!!! By the way, i have already tried re-installing itunes and every other apple device completely on my computer, but nothing is working!!! ANY HELP WILL BE MASSIVELY APPRECIATED!!! Ps. this only just started happening a week or so ago.

This just started happening to me last week also. After I went through the setup process I could get into my itunes but would get a msg about library not being saved due to user not being an administrator. I went into my program files opened the itunes folder right clicked on the itunes music folder and clicked on "Run as administrator". I haven't had a problem
since. Don't know if this will work for you but I guess it won't hurt. good luck.

Error message when trying to open the itunes setup

when i try to open the itunes setup icon on my desktop i get the error message i get the message "'iTunesHelper.Resources' is not a valid short file name". this is after itunes vanished leaving behind the same message a few days ago. i have deleted itunes related programs from my computer but to no avail.
i'm running windows xp,can anyone help me please?

i keep trying to download itunes after getting right of all itunes related software. i have downloaded the new quicktime, still the same error message. i have used the windows clean-up thing, and i have tried to download an older version of itunes, from the internet and from a disk i have. the internet directs me to download the new version and the disk dosn't open.

Just got the iPhone6 and did the iCloud setup from a previous backup of my old iPhone5. iPhone6 is now continuously trying to download the renweb app. When I try to delete the renweb app, it will not delete. How can I get rid of the app??

How can I delete the app off my phone without going through the entire setup of the new phone again? App will not delete the normal way. I hit delete and it just stays on the phone and tries to download over and over.

If it has a cloud icon it means its no longer on your device. Tapping on the cloud will effectively reinstall the App from scratch to your device.
There is no way to remove it from the cloud because its not yours to remove from there. Its the general App repository, you are just given access to it to download content you've already purchased.

How can I use a different computer from the one on which the initial setup was run for my iphone 3gs?

I would like to use my new MacBook to manage the information on my iphone.
Attempts to use any other computer other than the original one used in the initial setup generates a message that warns me that everything on the iphone will be erased? How can I back up the information and switch to the MacBook?

I have tried the printer with my laptop (not updated) and everything is fine. It's just the beautiful 27" Imac that can no longer print.

Might be a corrupted printer preference file ...
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type this exactly as you see it here:

Click Go
Move the com.apple.PrinterPrefs.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Trash.
Restart your Mac, restart the printer...

Please google search for "Mountain Lion disk crash" before upgrading you mac pro. You might need to replace you Mac hard drive after the upgrade.So many people had the same problems including me.
Be aware of the Mountain Lion upgrade problem.

Items to display in list view web part not showing the items setup

Hi, I have the following issue. I have a list view web part, but the web part is showing more items that the ones setup in the: Number of items to display in list view web part for this view.
It is because that works when using datasheet view and not a normal view? Is there any technical documentation from Microsoft supporting this?

Error while executing the AVORCLDB SETUP command

We have installed Oracle Audit Vault Server on Linux x86 Operating system and we want to collect Audit data from a DB installed on Windows XP x32 with Oracle Standard Edition 10.2.0.3. We have successfully configured the DBAUD and the OSAUD collectors but when we try to run the avorcldb setup -srcname <source name> command, from the source DB we are receiving the following error:

ERROR: could not get AV agent connection using jdbc:oracle:oci:@AV
ERROR: java.sql.SQLException: ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified
Could you please help us with this issue because without executing this command successfully we can not start our collectors while the agent is starting successfully.

Hi,
Our version of Oracle Audit Vault both Server and Agent are 10.2.3.
The reason that we have entered the Setup statement like that is because that is how it is shown on the Administrative guide for AV 10.2.3. When we executed this statement for the first time it worked fine and the Audit data were being collected from the DB, but now when we are trying to execute it again we receive this.
We are trying to execute it again because the Agent can start successfully while none of the collectors can start successfully.
The error maybe shows that there is some problem with the connection of the DB and the AV Server, but when we test the Services Connection from Oracle NetManager they are all successfully connecting.
