Environment : Windows 7 64 bit , Microsoft® SQL Server® 2008 R2 Express with Advanced Services.
When installing, it show below error message. However, the link provided in error message is not included Windows 7. Anyone can help me?

I have realized that the code 009 is for english language and 004 for chinese traditional and in my "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\Perflib" did only exist 009 and 0404 key.
Hence, i've created a new 004 key and copied 009 counter and help contents to this newly created key.
Without restarting the OS, I was able to install smoothly MS SQL server express RC2.
I'm so happy to have overcome this problem.
But just out of curiosity does anyone know the syntax for the language codes? (009 for English, 004 for Chinese and 0404?

Performance counter registry hive consistency failed

Hi everybody,
i just bough a tablet from China running Window 8.1 32 bit os sytem.
i tried to install sql server 2008 rs but i got this error, performance counter registry hive consistency failed
i tried to google the result but i got stuck.
i open the registry and under Peflib i have following folders
_V2Provider
009
0804
currentlanguage
under the 009 and currrenlanguage i can see counter and help
but under _V2Provider and 0804 it was emthy, i was trying to find the way to copy it from other folders but i dont know how.
please help me to solve this problem so i can go on installing the sql 2008r2

Error on install: Performance counter registry hive consistency check - Status:Failed

Hi, I'm tryng to install sql server 2008 in win vista and in the System Configuration Check, item: Performance counter registry hive consistency check has the status FAILED all the others items has PASSED and the setup stops here theonly option is CANCEL. There is another post discussing the same issue as yours. The subject of post is:

Please refer that post and see if it resolves the issue. The bottom line is that you need to rebuild the perfmon counter, correct the bad registry key hive, and then you can install SQL Server 2008.
If the reference of post doesn’t resolve the problem, please use “regedit.exe” to export the following registry key hive to a file, and then post the file here.
“HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Perflib”
Once I get the file, I will try to rebuild the perfmon counter for you.
The tool “regedit.exe” usually exports registry keys to files with extension “.reg”. If you post the file, please rename it to the extension “.txt” so that it can reach to the forum.

Unable to load the specified offline registry hive when rejoining the domain

I have a Windows Server 2008 R2 Ent member server that we needed to clone. So we removed it from the domain, cloned it, and when we went back to join it to the domain it we get a error:
The Following error occurred attempting to join the domain: Unable to load the specified offline registry hive. Please ensure you have access to the specified path location and permissions to modify its contents. Running as an elevated administrator
may be required.
There is nothing in event viewer and no other error message then this. I can look at my domain controller and i do see a computer object is created but its like the member server either never gets the message that its done or it can't write to the registry.
I've disabled the firewall. I've tried to verify permission in regedit, to the best i know, and i still get this error.
We have also tried multiple local user accounts, multiple domain admin accounts, renamed the server, changed the workgroup its in. even ran a few registry cleaners.
Nothing works. I need help since this server has to be online 6am Monday morning.

To add the local administrators in the User Rights assignments
1) Start>Run>gpedit.msc
2) Computer Configuration>Windows Settings>Security Settings>Local Policies>User Rights Assignments
3) Double click on Back up files and directories and add the Administrators.
4) Double click on Restore files and directories and add the Administrators.
5) Close the window and reboot the machine.
6) Try to add the machine to the domain.
If the issue persist, Reset the security database.
1) Open MMC
2) Add Security Configuration and Analysis tool
3) Right click Security Configuration and Analysis in the left pane
4) Select open database
5) In the new database, type in secnew.sdb, click ok.
6) Select setup defltbase.inf as the template to import from C:\Windows\inf, click ok.
7) Rightclick Security Configuration and Analysis in the left pane again
8) Select configure computer
9) Reboot the machine.
10) Try adding the machine to the domain.

Ensure Task Manager is closed.
Launch the Command Prompt using the "Run as Administrator" option.
Enter the following at the Command Prompt:

Start and stop error for performance counter in Perfmon of Windows server 2008

Dear All,
There is a centralized monitoring server to monitor a few Windows server 2003.
There is a error when I start the performance counter for remote servers.
But it can be started again after 10 seconds.
Error:
When attempting to start the Data Collector Set the following system error occured:
The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.
Another issue is I cannot start or stop the performance counter in command line (logman.exe) after 1 month.
The error message is similar to the above, it mentioned something is using the files.
I have to reboot my server.
I don't know how can I find out the root cause.
Please help.

This issue may be caused by certain programs running in the background.
If it is convenience for you to restart the server, you can do that and test the result.
If the issue persists, you can try a Clean Boot.
Clean boot
=================
Let’s disable all startup items and third party services when booting. This method will help us determine if this issue is caused by a loading program or service. Please perform the following steps:
1. Click the Start Button type "msconfig" (without quotation marks) in the Start Search box, and then press Enter.
Note: If prompted, please click Continue on the User Account Control (UAC) window.
2. Click the "Services" tab, check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box and click "Disable All" (if it is not gray).
3. Click the "Startup" tab, click "Disable All" and click "OK".
Then, restart the computer. When the "System Configuration Utility" window appears, please check the "Don't show this message or launch the System Configuration Utility when Windows starts" box and click OK.
Please test this issue in the Clean Boot environment, if the issue disappears in the Clean Boot environment, we can use a 50/50 approach to quickly narrow down which entry is causing the issue.
If the issue still occurs, we may need to collect some trace information of the error message by using Process Monitor.

I cant view SSIS performance counters when clicked perfmon.exe add counter list, I tried to install counters using following command

I got its already installed, but still not able to view the performance counter SSISDTSPIPELINE and Instance counters.

The issue is usually related to the registry keys. Here, I suggest that you do as follows:
1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
2. In Registry Editor, locate the following registry entry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\MsDtsServer100\Performance
3. Check whether the value of the PerIniFile registry entry is perf-MsDtsServer100DTSSVCPERF.INI.
4. Click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then click OK.
5. Copy (or type) the following commands, and then press ENTER after each line:
cd C :\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\DTS\Binn
unlodctr MsDtsServer100
lodctr /T:perf-MsDtsServer100DTSSVCPERF.INI
6. Run the following command lines separately to stop and start the remote registry

WMI Performance Counter Error 20513

We're running SCVMM 2012 SP1 with CU1 on Windows 2008 R2 SP1. A handful of our hosts are showing this error
Error (20513)
The VMM management server cannot retrieve performance data for the computer VHOST1.mydomain.com. This issue may occur if the performance counter provider in the Virtual Machine Manager agent is corrupted.
Recommended Action
Restart the System Center Virtual Machine Manager Agent service on the computer NetVHB001.net.da.ocgov.com. This automatically restarts the performance provider. If the error persists, reinstall the VMM agent on the computer VHOST1.mydomain.com.
I've restarted the VMM service and uninstalled / reinstalled the Agent. Still seeing the errors. Is there another fix for this that someone has been successful with?

I had an issue like this, I was able to resolve it by removing the VMHOST from the database. Maybe this can solve this issue also.
Keep in mind that you must remove the SCVMM agent manually from your VMHOST server.
1. Logon SCVMM server or the SQL server. (Depending the location of the database) 2. Open SQL Server Management Studio. 3. Open the VMM database, default that is virtualManagerDB. Expand tables
> open the table dbo.tbl_adhc_host and choose the option Edit Top 200 rows.
4. Check names, you must find the missing computer name over there. Remember the HostID.
* 5. You can try to remove the row but normally it has some references into the database that has to be removed first.
5.A Remove the rows with the host id that you found in step 4 into the following tables, but this depends on your VMMS configuration.

Performance counter definition file is invalid

I've been trying to resolve some of the many issues I've run into after installing Exchange 2013 CU2 as a fresh install before migrating my users from 2007. We'd run into this bug that was generating a ton of event logs for missing performance counters:

It includes a PowerShell script to reregister all of the performance counters that come with Exchange 2013. When running it on my servers, it generated an error for one of the performance counter definition files.

I opened the files in Notepad and this one didn't have any obvious errors or differences in structure compared to the other files. An internet search showed no one else reporting this error processing this file that I could find. I'd be curious

That would take MS about 10 seconds to fix in a patch lol! You seem to have strong working knowledge of the PerfCounters. I just installed CU7 and have successfully worked through all of the counter issues with the exception of one: MSExchange
LiveIdBasicAuthentication. I can't find the PerfCounter that I need to register anywhere and it is driving me nuts! I clearly just need to install the counter, but I can't find the definition or really any information on it at all. I even
replicated the the disks of the exchange server, extracted all of the archives in the installed directory and the source media, and indexed the contents of anything even remotely text based. I can't find this file or a reference to it anywhere. If
you Google it all you get back is some bogus torrent site! Hoping you'll be able to point me in the right direction...

How to view custom performance counter data?

I have created a new MVC application and have added Application Insights to the project. I modified the ApplicationInsights.config file to start collecting the performance counter for Memory\Page Faults/sec. How can I tell if this data is making it to App
Insights? I can't see the data in the portal. When I add a chart in metrics explorer this counter does not exist under the Performance Counters.
Where do I go to view this data? How can I determine if it's working or not? Also the documentation I'm finding on the subject appears to be outdated. Is MMA still used to capture this data? If not, what is used now? Do I need to restart something in order
for this data to start getting collected?

Can you please let us know which documentation you're referring to? It does seem to be outdated.
Application Insights collects certain performance counters on its own; unfortunately, the list of performance counters is not configurable as of now. The syntax you're using

Performance data will be collected automatically (no further configuration needed) as long as the following element is in your ApplicationInsights.config (and it is indeed present in your sample):

As you can see from the blog post, you are indeed looking in the right place in the portal (Metric Explorer under Performance Counters), but only the default counters will be collected.
As a workaround, consider taking advantage of one of TelemetryClient.Track* methods to report data to Application Insights.

Powershell script - how to read a registry hive and store the value in text file and then again read the text file to write the values back in registry

powershell script Method required to read a value from registry and then taking the backup of that values in some text file.
For example the hive is
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Environment\Path
and under path i need to take back up of values in some text file and then put some value in the registry after back is taken in text file.
Also how to read the text file values so that we can again write to registry hive back from the back up text file.
