The perrenial problem of mixed up Artwork.
This problem is so well known about and so frequently discussed that I am surprised that Apple have not addressed and solved it.
My Artwork has become horribly mixed up on the iPod and I have searched the forums and Web for a solution to no avail.
One idea was to join the iTunes Store so that I can download Artwork for all my albums, even those not purchased online. This however will not fix the problem for all my British radio shows, audio books, plays, and those much beloved self-made compilations.
iTunes 9 no longer has the facility to prevent the display of Artwork. My simple solution was therefore to find an old laptop containing iTunes 8, plug in the iPod, deselect Artwork, apply, then reselect Artwork, and apply again. The whole job took about 10 minutes.
iTunes 8 is still available on the Web so I would recommend anybody with the Artwork problem to download a copy and install it onto a spare PC and this will enable you to fix the mix-up until Apple come up with a solution.
Can you tell me where I can still get iTunes version 8? I'm getting a new iPod, and don't want to put 9 on it, since I'm seeing a lot of iffy reviews on it at this time. Plus, I'm currently using 8.2.0.23, and just got used to it. (I'm not too savvy about computer issues and don't want to go through this again.)

i am trying to cut and paste from a program, IEP DIRECT, and normally on my PC I have no problems; however, when using my MAC the formatting gets all mixed up

At a first glance, their website is optimized for Windows only, it displays badly in Safari, perhaps it would be better in Firefox or other browser. -
After downloading iTones 10.5.1, the artwork matchs the song that is playing on my iMac but the artwork does not sync properly on my Apple TV. The artwork lags one cover behind. Is anyone else experiencing the same problem.
I think it is just a bug, but it in very frustrating. I was using just now for about an hour and suddenly the correct artwork appeared for what was playing....but then all went wrong again!!
Apple, please, please issue a patch for this. It surely cannot be too complicated to correct. -

Hello,?I recently reformatted my hard dri've and had to reinstall drivers for nearly everything, etc. I have a Dell Dimension 4600, and an Audigy 2 sound card. My microphone worked fine before the reformat and then it was broken. Its not that it wasn't picking up my voice (I have read that the typical problem with Dell computers and microphones was that you had to almost scream into the microphone to get it to hear anything). When I tried to record something, it would record what was coming out of my speakers, and not what I was saying (no matter how hard I yelled). So, when I was playing Counterstrike, everybody heard my gun shooting and grenades exploding etc. instead of my voice (which was what was coming out of my headphones). So I downloaded the ISO available here and through some complicated, random process of uninstalling and reinstalling the various sound drivers I found on the internet, I managed to get my microphone to work perfectly. I changed some settings before I went to bed on Sunday night, and when I tried to use my microphone on Monday it didn't work again (and I had the same problem as before).
So I reformatted again and am trying to figure out what order I installed and uninstalled etc.
So my question is, has anyone else has this specific problem (when attempting to record it records what comes out of the speakers/headphones and not what is being said into the microphone) and remembers how to fix it's? What I did was really bizarre, something like downloading Dell drivers, installing them, uninstalling them, downloading Creative drivers, installing them, installing Dell drivers on top of them, uninstalling both, downloading the ISO, reinstall the Creative drivers, install the files from the ISO, or something like that. Obviously that includes a lot more steps than are needed and because part 3 of the ISO is currently down (I don't have a CD burner so had to redownload the whole thing (I just used a CD emulator last time)) I can't work on it right now :/HalberdBlue wrote:

Actually, it's not a problem but a setting. On surround mixer .rec source setting --> when you set it to What U Hear everything you hear becomes recorded --> for microphone recording set it to microphone (also set "monitoring while recording" on/off).

I am using Logic Pro 9 with two MXL 990 microphones in my piano and a Rode NT1A for vocals. I have tried recording with added reverb and keeping getting not a natural reverb sound, but a rather "pixilated" one that does not sound natural. Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this issue? I have tried using Silververb and Space Designer, and both result in the same problems. Thank you!
This is asking for the impossible! It does not sound natural because maybe it isn't and in judging so whats your reference anyway. If you are in dire need of some natural sounding room you can go and record it yourself. But even then, the chances that it sounds like you imagined it, are very slim.
There are very decent sounding reverberation plugins, based on artificial reverb generators or convolution-style, the last one is said to sound more 'natural' then the first one. Be it as it maybe, it really is like cooking food. You got all the ingredients for this delicious taste at hand and believe it or not to reach a satisfying result this is not enough, because if you do not mix the ingredients in the right proportion you will end up with a different dish you thought you'll get. This is exactly the same when one would mix audio, I dare say.
So treat yourself to some good ingredients and the rest is up to you, namely: taste and experience!
And looking at some of my past music productions I always find the same plugins for the 'ambient' task:
Altiverb by Audio Ease when I have acoustic ensembles (classical music mostly), the Sony Oxford Reverb in studio productions, Bricasti when I have to deal with drums and MMultiBandReverb from MeldaProduction for all-round stuff. Thats the base I start from, after that I can end up with dozen Reverb plugins which basically all are doing the same thing but just in a tiny different way. -

How do I add the channel-name to mixed signals?
Hello,
I want to save a XY-Signal to a tdm-File and import it into DIAdem.
So I merged the X- with the Y-Signal and connect the merged-signal to the "Write To Measurement File" VI.
In DIAdem I can see both signals but their name are "Untitled" and "Untitled 1". I don't know how to fix that.
If I use the low-level storage VIs, the other problem occures. I can give the X and Y-Channels my desired names, but they are in waveform - I want them as numeric channels in DIAdem.
So how can I give the mixed-signal the names
or
how can LabVIEW say to DIAdem that it is a numeric signal?

To name your dynamic signals you can see this KB "How Do I Rename Signals in Dynamic Data?". After you name your signals appropriately, you could then merge them together and write to a tdm file. DIAdem will then be able to read the channel names from the tdm file. I hope this helps.

Alternatively, if the files are in a standard <Artist>\<Album>\## <Name> layout then turn off Copy to iTunes Media folder when adding to library and use my script TagFromFilename to fill in the missing information.
iTunes often has an issue handling files with multiple tags. These may be introduced by other software such as Windows Media Player, Winamp, or MediaMonkey. Files may have both ID3v1 and ID3v2.x tags, and if I read the ID3 specification correctly, there is also support for multiple ID3v2.x tags each coded for a different language. When there are multiple tags iTunes behaviour can sometimes be unpredictable. In some cases edits to the metadata can be written to one tag, and visible in Windows Explorer, but iTunes insists on reading back unchanged values from the other. In such cases you can use Convert ID3 Tag > None several times followed by Convert ID3 Tag > v2.3 and whatever iTunes knows about the file will be written back to a clean tag. Embedded artwork is erased so needs to be reattached. Using my script CreateFolderArt before and then after the tag conversions is one way to workaround that part of the problem.
Also of note is that certain pre-defined genres are represented by a code number rather than text so that they can be presented in the local system language. There is always a possibility that Windows and iTunes have slightly different values in the look-up tables for some of these.

Water on MacBook Pro-What's the likely problem?
A bottle of water was spilled on the keyboard and the MB Pro will not boot. What's the likely problem? How can I get it diagnosed? It's 2 years old? Any warranty coverage? I have it sitting in box of rice to absorb the moisture. It's been 2 days now and it is still dead so that does not seem to be a good indication that it can be revived without help.
Some homeowners/rental insurance may cover repairs. Ask if yours has it and if there is any risk of raised rates or being cancelled if claiming the repairs before taking to repairs that you can't afford. Liquids and foods don't mix with electronics. Try to keep it away from any electronics in the future.

Permissions needing frequent repair; what's the underlying problem?
For a few weeks I've been running into permissions problems, usually related to not being able to empty the trash. For that I've used the *rm -rf* (etc) in terminal, which usually gets the job done. But in repairing permissions as a primary effort, I find that every few days I'm still getting lots of repairs needed, and many of them I don't find on apple's page of "Don't worry about these" messages.
What might underlie this ongoing crudification of my permissions?
I'm concerned now especially because I'm about to install a larger internal drive in my MBP (10.6.7) and I don't want to transfer these problems to the new drive. I'd like to clean this up decisively before migrating.
Thanks.Not a Mac user, but if the permissions problems are still there that might be part of your problem with artwork. The artwork cache appears to run on a data structure called a hash table, where information from the tag of the track is used to construct an index into the table where the "result" will be stored. If the index points to an empty location then you will get blank art. Corrupt permissions could well prevent access to the cached artwork files.
Perhaps your hard drive is on the way out. Make sure your backups are up to date.

When playing music there is no shuffle button like there was before... On the playlist there is a shuffle bar but this does nothing when I touch it. It's either stuck on my music is messed up.

Select the album artwork area for the song playing to reveal the scrubber for the song.
Is the color of the icon located at the right of the scrubber blue?
If so, that is the shuffle icon and blue means shuffle is on. Select the icon to turn shuffle off. White means off. -

Hello, Several months ago I called for help with the error fault that continiusly happens while working with my notebook. You asked to give you the serial number and things like that. I ve had a busy life and didnt work much on my notebook. Now I am working with it every day and the problems still are existing. Mixed colours and text on the screen, audio that make a terrible noise and the notebook that crashes and gives a bleu screen. I hope in a while the whole problem will be solved! Sounds like the device was dropped at some point and damaged as a result.
