  • When Syncing, got error msg "iphone4 can not be synced as the required file can not be found", When Syncing, got error msg "iphone4 can not be synced as the required file can not be found"

i've upgraded to IOS5 and also my iMac to latest iTunes.
i now found Itunes frequently issued a error during syncing "iphone4 can not be synced as the required file can not be found".   i have connected the iphone4 to my iMac using USB (i.e., wired).   but without doing any thing further, i go to iTunes and just hit the button to "SYNC" the iphone4 again, it will work.
so, why am i getting that error usually first time around when i connect the iphone?

Hi folks. Am REALLY struggling here and hoping for some help. I too am constantly getting the 'iPhone can not be synced' message since upgrading to a new MacBook and trying to sync my iPhone 3GS. Have tried updating to latest iPhone software and hasn't helped. Have tried all the stuff mentioned above (dumping that file etc) and no luck. When I go to my sync page for photos, even if i un-tick the sync photos option altogether, this error keeps appearing. Very odd and very frustrating. Can't sync - seems to stall at last step of the process every time.
I'm guessing it is photo related as the pics on my iPhone are now all lowres and blurry, and it is asking for sync to iTunes to get high res images onto the phone.
Also have problem going the 'other way'! WHen I go to iPhoto on Mac and try to download new photos taken on iPhone.. I keep getting the message 'The following file could not be imported. The file is an unrecognized format."
    help please

That can sometimes be caused by a damaged ipod photo cache.
If you remove the current ipod photo cache, does that get you past the error?

  • IPhone can not be synced. The required file can not be found

I got the message that "iPhone can not be synced. The required file could not be found." I suspected it had to do with photos because it was always in the middle of that when the error message came up. Re started everything. Unchecked photo sync and it synced except I would like to have the photos sync. Any ideas on why it won't sync when I check the option to sync photos to phone?

  • The iPhone cannot be synced. The required file can not be found

I have been syncing a small number of iPhoto albums to my old iPhone 3G and now my new 3GS. This error appeared last week for the first time.
I got the message above, and by a process of elimination found that it was resulting from the small number of iPhoto albums I sync. I have rebuilt the library and repaired permissions, to no avail.
All iPhoto photos are on the mac HD and I have not added any new pictures since the last successful sync.

Martin, here are some ideas that other posters have had success with in resolving this issue:
+I found a solution for my problem with syncing error (iphone cannot be synced required file cannot be found) by selecting the option Advanced - Replace information on this iPhone for the Contacts. In my case this error was being caused by the photos from my contacts.+
+I had exactly this problem with my BRAND NEW Nano. Also it was intermittent, and it affected my wife's Nano too, though oddly not her Shuffle. It struck me that I had been periodically "losing" other USB devices - a disappearing drive, missing scanner etc. Also we have recently been having trouble getting the PC to notice a digital camera when photos needed to be uploaded. And the problem for me was:- Power: my PC just did not have enough power to drive all of the devices in the chassis and connected externally. Luckily I have lots of spare power supplies in my basement. I took a spare 230W power supply and used it to drive my graphics card and one of the SATA drives in my chassis. With that load gone, the 105W power supply in my PC has enough power for the USB ports. Since making this modification neither my wife nor I have had any problems syncing our Nanos.+
+There is a screen during the restore process that allows you to name the ipod. I had a ' in the name, which may have been an issue. Not sure, but worth mentioning. I renamed the iPod to a simple name. I also unchecked all boxes that allow auto-start of iTunes and disk usage. After i hit submit, it mounted the iPod and showed the Summary tab with the "Open iTunes..." "Manually manage...." and "Enable Disk Use" boxes checked (very annoying as I had just de-seected that option during the previous screen). I unchecked the "Open iTunes when this iPod is connected" and hit "Apply". It seemed to work, which it never did before. I then went to the music list and dragged one song onto the iPod icon. This copied successfully. I ejected the ipod to verify that it was on there. I then re-connected the ipod and it connected successfully. Big progress! Then, I unchecked the "Manually manage music and videos" box, unchecked the sync-photos option on the other tab, and hit "apply". The iPod stayed connected. I then hit Sync and it is now in the process of syncing. It seems that the settings during the Restore process are critical. Uncheck everything on that initial screen and (maybe) use a very simple name for the iPod with no funny characters. Then, copy at least one song manually to the iPod. One or more of these steps may be the solution. I'll bet that the apostrophe in the original name was causing the problem.+
+...my iPod was set up to sync calendars and contacts with Outlook. On a whim I turned off those sync options, as well as all photos and video. All of my 4400 songs are syncing now with no issue. Now I'll try adding pictures and then video back in and last try to sync calendars and contacts.+
+THANK YOU! You are my hero for posting this solution. I disabled my photo sync, movie sync, TV show sync and just synced the music. When that worked, I enabled the photo sync again. It worked! Now I am enabling the movie sync.+
+It happened while iTunes was trying to sync my photos, so I assumed that there was a file missing in the photos. Since iTunes converts all photos to an iPod format, I thought there might be a corrupt file in the converted photos. So I deleted the iTunes photo cache. Basically go to the folder from where you syncing your photos and delete the folder named "iPod Photo Cache" This will require iTunes to reconvert all the photos. This solved the problem for me.+ (Note: this folder is INSIDE your iPhoto Library. So you will need CTRL-Click the library and select "Show package contents". Ensure that iPhoto is not running. Then move the folder "iPod Photo Cache" to your desktop. Reboot your Mac, and then try syncing again.)
+I have the solution! It's a bug on the iPod Photo Cache. Sometimes this cache ain't done right, especially when there's a huge amount of data to be synced. You should manualy select the folders you want to sync, in order to isolate the part or the cache is defective. To do so, first deselect all folders, then start selecting a few of them (5, for example). Do a sync and keep selecting and syncing until you find the bad folders. When you have all bad folders identified, cut the photos from those folders and paste them into a temp folder. Do the sync again to purge those files from the cache an then start putting them back into the original folders, syncing form time to time. Do not put all the files together to minimize the chances of a bad cache again! When everything is fine again, I mean, when every folder is synced, you can mark "All photos" in the iTunes, if you like to keep syncing automatically every new picture you take.+
Let us know if any of the suggestions provided above resolve your issue.

  • Sync problem:  Error said The iPhone can not be synced.  the required file can not be found.

i just get my new iPhone4S.  sometimes, when syncing to iTunes, it said the above error message.
and i found it didn't download the pictures of some of the latest photo album from from iMac.
    how does one fix this?
the error is useless, didn't say what happen or what to do...

    I have the same problem.
My iPhone 3GS crashed the other night when I installed the new iPhone OS. I restored it and everything was fine except having to re-position my apps how I had them. Then I went to change the music I have on it, and it cannot complete the sync (same error message). There are also now songs on my iPhone that will not play (are missing).

    plaese help me out.

I have the exact same problem with my 1GB Nano. I've looked all over the internet at forums and such for the answer. Lots of the same problem, no solution. What's extremely strange is that I added 5 photos earlier after fiddling with it for about 30 minutes. When I took those photos out of the specified folder on my PC to add 3 new ones, Itunes wouldn't add the new photos. The new photos actually take up less space than the old ones did. I've messed with deleting the photo cache on both the Ipod and my PC specified folder with no luck. It still says there's not enough room on my Ipod, when in fact there is 70MB of free unused space according to both the Ipod and Itunes. So far none of the synching sites were any help. Once in a blue moon, I change some setting somewhere, update, eject the Ipod, and the photos appear on the Ipod. I plug it back in and Itunes agrees that the photos have transferred. I just don't understand it.

  • ITunes - "There were problems downloading some purchased items. The required file can not be found."

I'm having a few problems in iTunes.
I have had iTunes for years through many different devices. I work in music education, so I have music for work and music for home all in my same iTunes account.
In the past year, I have gotten another new computer (a laptop - so I keep my iTunes on an external drive) and also tried my hand at making a separate library for my work music.
Now on summer vacation, I was finally trying to sort out all of my music and get it to the correct iTunes library so that I could sync up my iPods. I hit a brick wall so to speak. In iTunes, I see albums I purchased on iTunes and I try to click the cloud symbol to download them from my cloud. Sometimes, it does NOTHING (no download starts) and sometimes I get an error message like "The iTunes Library can not be saved. An unknown error occurred (13010)." I have also noticed that some things I have purchased have NO cloud symbol and they are not available to be played either (can't click on them - they are greyed out). In addition, I have been getting an error that says it is unknown error 21 - a problem downloading.
It really seems like I have many separate issues but since I don't know what the problem really is, I'm having trouble searching for the answer. I tried searching the problems on the forum and even tried a few things like deleting the genius and extras files everyone was talking about, but it didn't help. Apple won't help me unless I pay them, so I'm trying you first. Thanks for any thoughts you might have.
    I have a Windows 8 PC.
I have Home Sharing and Match.
I use iPod Nano, iPod Touch, iPad 2.

P.S the error message i got during the download is (err = - 5000)
    Thanks in advance

  • Error: The ipod "..." cannot be synced. The required file can not be found. Case for Ipod classic

    Hi,
My ipod is being stubborn, everytime i connect it to my Windows PC. Its does a new sync despite having changed its setting.
When I check manually manage files. And then copy music files onto Ipod some times. After eject the music is there sometimes its empty.

I have figured out what the problem is with the connectivity issues with the ipods.. I talked to the support person and once you have the most recent upgrade to itunes and your ipod the ipod should sync without any problems. If one does arise and it says that the ipod is not connected you need to follow these steps..
    1. Go to start
    2. Click Run
    3. Type in the phrase services.msc
    4. A new applet should appear that says services and there will be a list of a multitude of different applications that appears
    5. Right click on the one that says *Apple Mobile Device*
    6. You should see the restart Option
    7. Click on restart and you should be good to go
After i did this everything worked fine, and if the connectivity error message would happen to appear again you should just follow those steps. Also i have found that the ipod doesnt always appear in My Computer. However, this does not mean that the ipod is not connected to your computer.
