The portlet could not be contacted and other time-out errors: the cause!

Did you encounter these kind of errors? Even after upgrading to
version 3.0.9.8.1?
We have searched for many months for the cause of these problems
and finally found it. It's the user SYS ! When you analyze SYS's
objects (tables and indexes), Portal gets totally confused.
Especially after rebooting a server, retrieving the first page
can take five minutes or even more.
We have removed all statistics from SYS and the responstimes
have been increased dramatically. From minutes to just a few
seconds!
So, if you want to experience these problems, just analyze user
SYS. And if you want to get rid of these problems, drop SYS's
statistics.

hi,
Have a look at this discussion. It is the same problem what you face, provided your portal version is also 3.0.9.

  • Pls/portal shows: Error: The portlet could not be contacted  after SSL enab

The OCS /pls/portal page shows: Error: The portlet could not be contacted, I believe this happened after SSL enabling the system. Anyone out there seen this errof before?

    FYI
This happens if you remove port 80 as a listening port webcache/em, etc. Oracle claims it needs port 80 for internal communication. For whatever reason the /pls/portal providers are registered in non-SSL. Not sure if Oracle will provide a fix or ?

  • Update iphone 4 to ios7 now could not restore... Tried several time could not restore contacts and other data"... Please help

I just updated my iphone 4 to ios 7. But after updated, it wont restore my contacts or pics from backup thru itunes.
Not sure what else to do. I tried to reboot and restore again but still got the error.
    Please help!!!

Your phone is in "recovery" mode, which means you data on your phone is already gone.  You have no other choice but to restore your phone.  If you've not been backing up regularly and importing your photos to your computer for safe keeping as is strongly recommended, then you've learned a very hard lesson.

What is confusing is how 1 browser gets the error but another does not.
    Any suggestions?
    TIA

This issue seems to be related to the specific URL used to access the Navigator. I was using a specific URL to display a particular page region for editing, namely
    /portal/page?_pageid=6,3,6_23&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL&p_otype=FOLDER&p_octx=FOLDER.334478_1453&p_domain=wwc&p_sub_domain=SITEEXP
Once the Navigator is accessed via this URL, all subsequent attempts to access Page Groups Navigator portlet fail.
I changed my process to not use the URL above.

  • Patch 2744619 causes portlet could not be contacted

    Hello,
Any anyone installed the Portlet patch 2744619 in an HTTPS configuration?
The patch successfully installs, no errors in the install log or portal.log. But when I log into Portal, ALL
    Portlets have this error message:
The Portlet Could Not Be Contacted.
I don't receive this error message when applying the patch to a non-SSL installation.
    Thanks,
    - Carl

Found out to apply the patch to an SSL enabled environment you first must disable SSL, apply the patch and then enable SSL.
If you are running UNIX be sure to set PTLASST.CSH to execute privs. During the upgrade, this file is missing execute priv so when configuring SSL, it will fail.

  • Error : The porlet could not be contacted

Anybody knows why the browser (Netscape) sometime shows "Error : The portlet could not be contacted" when I am accessing the web using portal.

There is a timeout duration set in your apache config file. If that portal takes more that that time to come then it
    gets timed out

  • Error : Portlet could not be contacted ?

    Hi ,
Working on Portal 9.0.2.3 , integrated an java application as Portlet to the tab by registering as new portlet provider .
It went on fine till now , recently when i click that particular tab i get this error
ERROR : PORTLET COULD NOT BE CONTACTED .
I tried to refresh the page manualy but still the error exisits.
kindly let me know how to debug this.

    Mats,
I found this seems to happen if you are using the fully resolved url to access a page rather than unresolved url.
    Unresolved URL:
    http://socsbo1.scs.uiuc.edu/pls/portal30/url/page/socsbo_main
    Resolved URL:
    http://socsbo1.scs.uiuc.edu/servlet/page?_pageid=53&_dad=portal30&_schema=PORTAL30&_mode=3
Why it does this I don't know, but once I made sure the users where using the unresolved URL to access the page the portlet errors went away.
    Portal Version: 3.0.7.6.2

    Hi
And without info - it's near to impossibly to help. Try my general troubleshooting note:
    Troubleshooting note
When iMovie doesn't work as intended this can be due to a lot of reasons
iMovie Pref files got corrupted - trash it/they and iMovie makes new and error free one's
problem in iMovie Cache folder - trash Cache.mov and Cache.plist
Creating a new User-Account and log into this
This forces iMovie to create all pref. and cache files new and error free
Event or Project got corrupted - try to make a copy and repair
a Codec is used that doesn't work (even though iMovie and/or iDVD tries to / they fail in the end)
version miss match of QuickTime Player / iMovie / iDVD
preferences are wrong - Repair Preferences
other hard disk problem - Repair Hard Disk (Disk Util tool - but start Mac from ext HD or DVD)
External hard disks - MUST BE - Mac OS Extended (hfs) formatted to work with Video
( UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange - works for most other things - but not for Video )
USB-flash-memories - usually do not work
Net-work connected hard disks - usually do not work (most often not fast enough and WRONGLY FORMATTES as DOS etc)
iPhoto Library got problems - let iPhoto select another one or repair it. Re-build this first then try to re-start iMovie. When iMovie starts-up it first look trough this iPhoto library and if faulty it all Halt’s.
    This You do by
    First -  close iPhoto
    Secondly - on start up of iPhoto - Keep {cmd and alt-keys down}
Thirdly - now select all five options presented
THEN - WAIT a long long time (>20 hours are not strange)
free space on Start-Up (Mac OS) hard disk to low (<1Gb) - I never go under 25Gb free space for SD-Video (4-5 times more for HD)
external devices interferes - turn off Mac - disconnect all of them and - Start up again and re-try
GarageBand fix - start GB - play a few notes - Close it again and now try iMovie
Screen must be set to million-colors
    Third-party plug-ins doesn't work OK
Run "Cache Out X", clear out all caches and restarts the Mac
Let Your Mac be turned on during one night. At about midnight there is a set of maintenance programs that runs and tidying up. This might help
Turn off Your Mac - and disconnect Mains - for about 20-30 minutes - at least this resets the FireWire port.
In QuickTime - DivX, 3ivx codec, Flip4Mac, Perian etc - might be problematic - temporarily move them out and re-try
(I deleted the file "3ivxVideoCodec.component" located in Mac HD/Library/Quicktime and this resolved my issue.)
    buenrodri wrote
I solved the problem by removing the file: 3ivxVideoCodec.component. after that, up-dated iMovie runs ok.
Last resort: Trash all of iMovie and re-install it

I strongly recommend upgrading to the 3.0.9 release (iAS
1.0.2.2) with the 3.0.9.8.2 patch (this patch should be
available for NT/2000 this week). Also, the database should be
running 8.1.7.1 (or later), as explained in the iAS release
    notes.

This is a synchronous problem between dcm proccesses.
You can solve it by installing 2591631 patch.
Also You should install 9.0.2.1 CorePatch before 2591631 patch.
And i want to tell that I think it isnt relevant about your problem "Portlet could not be contacted".
    Good luck.

I have a user on an iMac 10.6 connected to our domain.  She uses Outlook web access for email on our exchange server.  Last week she received the following message which is randomly preventing her from sending emails.  She claims no attachment was involved in the original email when this all started.  I have not been able to look at her account as she is out of the office but maybe someone else dealt with this issue.  I realize this may not be Mac related but thought I'd give it a try.  She did say it occurred once over two days while working on a PC but it continued over the past weekend.
If an internal user tries to send a message with infected attachment using Outlook Web Access, it may report the following error message: The action could not be completed because of a conflict with the original item. The conflict may have occurred when an existing item was updated on another computer or device. Open the item again and try making your changes. If the problem continues, contact technical support for your organization.
This is because F-Secure Anti-Virus for Microsoft Exchange has detected a virus in the attachment. If the user tries to send the message again, the message will be sent but without the attachment. At the same time a blank message with an attachment named "Attachment_information.txt" will remain in the user's Drafts folder. The "Attachment_information.txt" will contain information about the virus detected in the message.

PS - have found other posts indicating that clips smaller than 2s or sometimes 5s, or "short files" can cause this. Modern style editing often uses short takes ! Good grief I cannot believe Apple. Well I deleted a half a dozen short sections and can export, but now of course the video is a ruined piiece of junk and I need to re-do the whole thing, the sound etc. which is basically taking as much time as the original. And each time I re-do it I risk again this lovely error -50 and again trying to figure out what thing bugs it via trial and error instead of a REASONABLE ERROR MESSAGE POINTING TO THE CLIP IT CAN'T PROCESS. What a mess. I HATE this iMovie application - full of BUGS BUGS BUGS which Apple will not fix obviously, since I had this product for a few years and see just hundreds of hits on Google about this error with disappointed users. Such junk I cannot believe I paid money for it and Apple does not support it with fixes !!!
If anyone knows of a GOOD reasonably priced video editing program NOT from APPLE I am still looking for suggestions. I want to do more video in future, but obviously NOT with iMovie !!!
