The process of ouputing PAL

I filmed a feature (145 min) on a Panasonic HVX200 HD.
My project is 60 fps, to allow for max info for conversion to film. All I've been doing so far is exporting it to Compressor to burn a dvd copy.
Now I'm sending a dvd to Europe for marketing and I'm not sure of the process for outputing PAL.
I understand that the PAL fps rate is 25, but what is best or most efficient way to make a PAL copy/convert settins? Must I change my settins in my FCP project or can I just export out of FCP a certain way? Can I just adjust something in Compressor? I understand the logic behind the difference of NTSC/PAL, its the actually software settings I'm not getting.
I tried using a prior compressed file in DVD Studio Pro, with just a switch to PAL format, but I received an error message that an NTSC format can't be burned PAL.
Please advise (and include steps).
Thanks.
Will.

yes we are 25fps in PAL land, and just like we have difficulty making 25fps fit easily into 29.97 fps. You are going to have the same problems.
the best answer is to get it converted using a Hardware convertor

I just set up an account at the I tunes store including authorization to charge my pay pal abount. I have also received e-mail confirmation that the account is set up, but every time I try to make a purchase I get a message that says apple ID has not yet been used with the I Tunes Store and it takes me back through the process of authorizing my paypay account. Once you purchase or download an app it will always be associated with the Apple ID used to download it. When that app requires and update you must use the Apple ID and password used to download it in the first place. The only way around this is to delete the apps the require the old Apple ID and download or purchase them again with the new Apple ID.

• Running transactional replication on SQL server 2008R2 but: "The process could not connect to subscriber 'SERVER NAME'"

I've set up Replication (transactional replication) between two remote servers. On the one of server that I configure Distribution & publication .another server is subscription. The subscription is all set & snapshot agent is started .but the actual
replication doesn't take place.
When viewing the Synchronization Status of the subscription, i get an error, saying "The process could not connect to Subscriber ‘Server name'."
Clicking on start, this is the error message I get:
The agent could not be started.
Additional information:
An exception while executing a Transact-SQL statement or batch.
SQL Server Agent Error: Request to run job Server1-EDUSRV-Pubs-Server2-14 (from User Server1\Administrator) refused because the job is already running from a request by User sa.

What can i do?
Please help me.Thanks

The error The process could not connect to Subscriber 'Server name' indicates that the Distribution Agent process account does not have enough permissions to connect to the Subscriber.
If this is a push subscription, verify the Distribution Agent process account is db_owner in the distribution and subscription databases, is a member of the PAL, and has read permissions on the snapshot share.
If this is a pull subscription, verify the Distribution Agent process account is db_owner in the subscription database, is a member of the PAL, and has read permissions on the snapshot share.
The permissions required are covered in
Replication Agent Security Model.

• Agent message code 20084. The process could not connect to Distributor

Hello all
We are using Sql server 2012
I am getting the following error message while running a replication subscriber side server(server02):
Agent message code 20084. The process could not connect to Distributor (server01)
Both Publisher and Distributor in server01

Hello,
Just as other post above, the issue may caused by the account permission of the Distribution Agent.
For pull subscriptions, the account must at minimum be a member of the db_owner fixed database role in the subscription database.
And to connect to distributor, the account used for the connection must:
1,Be a member of the PAL.
2.Have read permissions on the snapshot share.

• How to allocate the processes to various drives?

I am ready to render my movie project come hell or high water!
Could you please descirbe specifically which processes you would allocate to which drives on a quad core PC during the rendering process & what names you would give them.
I have a brand new laptop :- well I was going to paste my PC specs here but this window won't allow cut/copy/paste!!!! yet another totally frustrating aspect to this supposedly layman's software!
So from that little outburst you can tell I am at my wits end...................I have read these forums until my eyes bled. I am now even more confused & have 40 more questions than I started with & realize I'm supposed to be an expert on more things than many people would know about in a life time just to operate this PrE software.
So now to do the long hand typing..............
Brand new Asus laptop
win7sp1 up to date 64bit,
IntelR i7-2630QM CPU 2GHz Quad core,
1.5Tb hard drive,
16Gb RAM,
3Gb graphocs card running nVidia EForce with 17.3" screen,
drive C:\ OS 202Gb free of 279Gb,
(D:) DATA 394gb free,
(E:) SDATA1 349Gb free,
(F:) SDATA2 349Gb free,
1xUSB3 & 3+ x USB2,
Removable expansion HDD 2Tb Seagagte USB2 (fast but actual speed unknown),
Blue Ray RW+- CD/DVD internal burner,
Paging file 16361Mb on C:\
Trail version Trend Micro Titanium
Photoshop Premiere Elements 9 up to date.
Not being previously aquainted with more than 1 core, I'm not sure which part of the rendering process to allocate to which drive.
The file will be a big one that's for sure. I didn't know that I was supposed to change the default settings of the PrE or that the photos might be too big. These things are not a problem with WMM.
So the movie is as follows:- (again longhand typing... sigh)
movie files are all .avi 640x480 30f/s 88kbps audio
all photos are . jpeg mostly 3264 x 2448 180dpi 1.75Mb
all taken with Cannon PowerShot camera
This project is the first of a set of 3 which will all be17mins long about half & half stills(5sec duration each) & video, with some titles & lots of transitions.
Since I have the whole PC to use to do the rendering & then burn to file, I'm not concerned about what resources get used. I am sick of making changes & just want to get it done to see if it works & if it will fit on a DVD after. I am burning to file because if more than 1 movie will fit on a disk, that is the way I want to set it up.
So other questions relating to this rendering are:-
Can I do it all in one go or do I have to do it in sections,
Should I make a copy of the movie file first incase it doesn't go well,
I know nothing of how to set the defaults, I just want the movie to play on HD TVs using various DVD players & the odd computer all belonging to friends.
Are there generalised presets for wide screen.
I have previously done a test movie using videos & still photos from this same camera & included titles & transitions & then just burnt it without rendering & it turned out well enough except the picture was a bit too big on the TV.

Will reducing the size of the photos still mean they show the best quality on the TV screen?
I did make a test movie using some of the same vids & stills I was going to use in the proper movies. It was my first use of PrE & I used it just like I had been using WMM, then the shocks started because PrE doesn't operate like WMM! However I was happy with that test movie except for the slightly larger than ideal picture with an almost square aspect on the TV even though I had selected a widescreen aspect at the time burning.
Steve the 'properties' doesn't say the vids & stills are MPEG AVI files just .avi. There are also stills & video from another camera that I do have to use in the other 2 movies in the set & they are definitely MPEG with crazy codecs because the camera is a Kodak (apple based). There didn't seem to be any problem with PrE using them or the .avi files or the larger still images all in combo in the 1 test movie. I didn't know about rendering at that stage so I just burnt it to disc.
That's why I just decided to quit stuffing around with this first project & get onto finishing it. I will make a copy of the PrE file as it is now then get onto rendering more as a test to see how it will turn out. If it is all wrong or can't finish I will go back to the copy & modify. But knowing which drives to allocate to which parts of the process is all new to me.
I neglected to mention in my firt post that I have to make PAL movies here in Australia.
The new PC's harddrives are all configured NTFS. My old laptop had an NTFS harddrive. It's the one I used to make the test movie when I first loaded the PrE on it & discovered it wasn't big enough to make movies more than 6-8mins long possibly due to the photos being so big & also because I never rendered it first.
Hunt, I paid a lot for this new laptop PC because I was under the impression it had 4 separate drives rather than 1 drive with 4 partitions. I certainly never wanted partitions. Now after what you have just said, I'm not sure what I have. I'm sure the specs talk about different drives. It certainly pictures 4 separate drives in the sys inf & the PC is said to be quad core which to my understanding in this country should mean 4 physical drives. Also I think somewhere I came across the part numbers or registered numbers for each drive although I can't find that place now.
The drives are MATSHITA BD-MLT UJ240AS DVD/CD-ROM Does that give you any insight to whether there are 4 HDDs or just 1 HDD partitioned?

it's true that i've copied it and pasted it...
but i do understand how it works (really)
the article mentioned at last that we could send input
to the Program by invoking getoutputStream
i guess that we should write a construtor for the
streamGobbler class but this time using a
OutputStreamReader and may be doing sth elseThe "Gobbler" is there to eat up whatever bytes become available on an InputStream (from the program's output). I don't think ou just want to try to use the same class to handle the program's input.
The Gobbler can be used for eating up whatever comes out of any program--it' general, and doesn't rely on any particular output from the program (input to the Gobler). This is not the case for whatever writes to the program's input. You'll need to write what the program expects in the proper order.

• HT201528 IDVD version of videos pause momentarily about every ten seconds and diagonal lines are ziggy. Image looks good all the way through the process and even on idvd

I am trying to make a dvd from a video I shot with a Sony HD avchd camera on a new mac mini running mac os x version 10.7.4
I'm using an up to date Imovie but copied IDVD version 7.1.2 and the support libraryt from an up to date macbook. The video is about 40 minutes long. It looks beautiful all the way from teh camera to playing it on idvd, but when I play the dvd on a player or in a computer it stops momentariily about every ten seconds and the picture is ziggy on diagonal lines.
Also, if I try to save the movie as a .mov file there is no audio.
Can't I move idvd to my new computer?

Hi
Why is the picture better all the way to iDVD - then degrades on the DVD
• DVD is as standard - interlaced SD-Video
If You need better then only way is via Blu Ray
• iMovie'08 to 11 - can not deliver this any way known to me to iDVD - first step in the degradation process
Use iMovie HD6 or FinalCut to do this delivery to 100% of what's possibly
Jaggy diagonal lines - mostly due to the use of iMovie'08 to 11 as they only deliver every second line in an already limited quality as interlaced SD-Video - taking away 50% doesn't improve a bit
Jumpy movie -. most often due to feeding iDVD wrong frame rate and forceing it to convert - IT DOES this BADLY. I use JES_Deinterlacer (free on internet) to do this and it does this even better than pay applications.
iDVD can only deliver 25fps (PAL) or 29.97fps (30fps) (NTSC) - so feeding it
• 24 i or p
• 50p or
• 60p
Will not improve at all.
If iMovie'08 to 11 are only option - Then
• DO NOT - Share to iDVD - as this too degrade the final product
• I do - Share to Media Browser - and as - LARGE - Not HD or other resolution as this too degrades quality
More can be said on this - My long note follows - if of interest.
DVD quality
1. iDVD 08, 09 & 11 has three levels of qualities. (version 7.0.1, 7,0.4 & 7.1.1) and iDVD 6 has the two last ones
• Professional Quality
(movies + menus up to 120 min.) - BEST (but not always for short movies e.g. up to 45 minutes in total)
• Best Performances
(movies + menus less than 60 min.) - High quality on final DVD (Can be best for short movies)
• High Quality (in iDVD08 or 09) / Best Quality (in iDVD6)
(movies + menus up to 120 min.) - slightly lower quality than above
Menu can take 15 minutes or even more - I use a very simple one with no audio or animation like ”Brushed Metal” in old Themes.
About double on DL DVDs.
2. Video from
• FCE/P - Export out as full quality QuickTime.mov (not self-containing, no conversion)
• iMovie x-6 - Don't use ”Share/Export to iDVD” = destructive even to movie project and especially so
when the movie includes photos and the Ken Burns effect NOT is used. Instead just drop or import the iMovie movie project icon (with a Star on it) into iDVD theme window.
• iMovie’08 or 09 or 11 are not meant to go to iDVD. Go via Media Browser or rather use iMovie HD 6 from start.
3. I use Roxio Toast™ to make an as slow burn as possibly e.g. x4 or x1 (in iDVD’08 or 09 this can also be set)
This can also be done with Apple’s Disk Utilities application when burning from a DiskImage.
4. There has to be about or more than 25Gb free space on internal (start-up) hard disk. iDVD can't
use an external one as scratch disk (if it is not start-up disc). For SD-Video - if HD-material is used I guess that 4 to 5 times more would do.
5. I use Verbatim ( also recommended by many - Taiyo Yuden DVDs - I can’t get hold of it to test )
6. I use DVD-R (no +R or +/-RW) - DVD-R play’s on more and older DVD-Players
7. Keep NTSC to NTSC - or - PAL to PAL when going from iMovie to iDVD
(I use JES_Deinterlacer to keep frame per sec. same from editing to the Video-DVD result.)
8. Don’t burn more than three DVDs at a time - but let the laser cool off for a while before next batch.
iDVD quality also depends on.
• DVD is a standard in it self. It is Standard Definition Quality = Same as on old CRT-TV sets and can not
deliver anything better that this.
HD-DVD was a short-lived standard and it was only a few Toshiba DVD-players that could playback.
These DVDs could be made in DVD-Studio Pro. But they don’t playback on any other standard DVD-Player.
Blu-Ray / BD can be coded onto DVDs but limited in time to - about 20-30 minutes and then need
_ Roxio Toast™ 10 Pro incl. BD-component
_ BD disks and burner if full length movies are to be stored
_ BD-Player or PlayStation3 - to be able to playback
The BD-encoded DVDs can be play-backed IF Mac also have Roxio DVD-player tool. Not on any standard Mac or DVD-player
Full BD-disks needs a BD-player (in Mac) as they need blue-laser to be read. No red-laser can do this.
• HOW much free space is there on Your internal (start-up) hard disk. Go for approx. 25Gb.
less than 5Gb and Your result will most probably not play.
• How it was recorded - Tripod vs Handheld Camera. A stable picture will give a much higher quality
• Audio is most often more critical than picture. Bad audio and with dropouts usually results in a non-viewed movie.
• Use of Video-editor. iMovie’08 or 09 or 11 are not the tools for DVD-production. They discard every second line resulting in a close to VHS-tape quality.
iMovie 1 to HD6 and FinalCut any version delivers same quality as Camera record in = 100% to iDVD
• What kind of movie project You drop into it. MPEG4 seems to be a bad choice.
other strange formats are .avi, .wmv, .flash etc. Convert to streamingDV first
Also audio formats matters. I use only .aiff or from miniDV tape Camera 16-bit
strange formats often problematic are .avi, .wmv, audio from iTunes, .mp3 etc
Convert to .aiff first and use this in movie project
• What kind of standard - NTSC movie and NTSC DVD or PAL to PAL - no mix.
(If You need to change to do a NTSC DVD from PAL material let JES_Deinterlacer_3.2.2 do the conversion)
(Dropping a PAL movie into a NTSC iDVD project
(US) NTSC DVDs most often are playable in EU
(EU) PAL DVDs most often needs to be converted to play in US
UNLESS. They are play-backed by a Mac - then You need not to care
• What kind of DVDs You are using. I use Verbatim DVD-R (this brand AND no +R or +/-RW)
• How You encode and burn it. Two settings prior iDVD’08 or 09
Pro Quality (only in iDVD 08 & 09)
Best / High Quality (not always - most often not)
Best / High Performances (most often my choice before Pro Quality)
1. go to iDVD pref. menu and select tab far right and set burn speed to x1 (less errors = plays better) - only in iDVD 08 & 09
(x4 by some and may be even better)
2. Project info. Select Professional Encoding - only in iDVD 08 & 09.
Region codes.
iDVD - only burn Region = 0 - meaning - DVDs are playable everywhere
DVD Studio pro can set Region codes.
1 = US
2 = EU

What it turned out to be was the "quality" settings in iDVD. The total clip time was NOT over 2 hours or 4.7GB, yet iDVD created massive visual artifacts on the "professional quality" setting.
I switched the settings to "high quality" which solved the problem. According iDVD help, "high quality" determines the best bit rate for the clips you have.
I have NEVER seen iDVD do this before, especially when I was under the 2 hour and 4.7GB limits.
For anyone else, there seem to be 2 places in iDVD to set quality settings, the first is under "preferences" and the second under "project info." They do NOT seem to be linked (i.e. if you change one, the other is NOT changed). take care, Mario
TO GET IT TO WORK SLIGHTLY FASTER
• Minimum of 25Gb free space on Start-Up hard disk
• No other programs running in BackGround e.g. Energy-Saver
• Don’t let HD spin down or be turned off (in Energy-Save)
• Move hard disks that are not to be used to Trash - To be disconnected/turned off
• Goto Spotlight and set the rest of them under Integrity (not to be scanned)
• Set screen-saver to a folder without any photo - then make an active corner (up right for me) and set
pointer to this - turns on screen saver - to show that it has nothing to show

• HDV to NTCS DVD works... is it the same for a PAL DVD?

Hello
I created a DVD from HDV material using these settings with compressor:
http://www.larryjordan.biz/articles/bkhdvconvert.html
basicallythe options are: DVD Best Quality 90 min 16:9
Video Format Tab in the Inspector to manually set filed dominance to "botom first"
It worked fine.
Now i need to create a PAL DVD. what would i need to change?
just set the video format to PAL in the inspector window? and then in DVD studio pro set it to PAL again?
thanks.
Leon.
thanks.

let me see if I can help out a little here.
The problem with converting 1080i to SD in software is that FCP seems to do a not-very-good job of downsampling the image, particularly when you are going directly to DV. Details get blurry, and other compression artifacts become quite noticeable. I have also experienced trouble with the HDV fields not getting processed correctly if I go to SD mpeg directly from an HDV timeline or movie file.
Your best bet is one of the following workflows:
Export a 1080i HDV or AIC movie file and re-import to FCP. Place this clip into an anamorphic SD sequence. It doesn't matter if the sequence is DV or Uncompressed if you send the sequence directly to Compressor from FCP, because this will ignore any rendered material and use an uncompressed image buffer as it encodes the mpeg. Do not letterbox your widescreen video if you are going to DVD - widescreen DVD video should always be full-frame anamorphic.
Your other option is to attempt to use Compressor to down-res the sequence or a self-contained movie of your HDV, starting with one of the advnace format conversion presets in Compressor. However, you'll have to cutstomize the preset by turning on the frame controls, and testing the settings to make sure you are happy with the result. Turning on frame controls will increase the ratio of your encoding time anywhere from 4 to 20:1.
I have tried all of these methods, and none of them look as good as capturing the downconverted video from the deck after mastering to HDV tape.
Hope this helps -

• What's the cleanest workflow from PAL to NTSC?

Hi. I'm shooting in Iceland and editing in the States. Can anyone make a recommendation about the cleanest workflow from PAL to NTSC? I'll be shooting with an HD camera. Thanks!

What kind of HD?
There are about 6 million flavors - some really are HD, others use the term more as a marketing gimmick.
Why not just hire a camera that shoots the format and frame rate that you will be editing with? Granted, it might be difficult to find a camera compatible with US standards in Iceland, after all there are only 320 000 people living there. Plenty of rental places in the US though.
The cleanest workflow from PAL to NTSC is by using facility with a hardware converter such as those from Teranex or Snell & Wilcox. You will get a professional standards conversion engineer thrown in but the price will far outweigh what you will pay to hire a camera.
Other options, depending on what kind of quality is acceptable to you:
Compressor - You already have it. Will give you very good results but take a long time to process.
Natress Standards Conversion: $100. Will give you very good results but take a long time to process.
JES Deinterlacer: Free. Will give you decent results but take a long time to process.

• The process could not connect to Subscriber

Hello,
I have setup transactional replication between Server1 (SQL Server 2012 on windows 2012) and Server2 (SQL Server 2005 on windows 2003 SP2). The replication is push and distributor is on publisher ie Server1.
The snapsots are generated but they can't apply to the subscriber. I get the following error.
'The process could not connect to Subscriber '
Can someone please tell me why I get this error? I have a link server setup between Server1 and Server2. I could connect from SSMS and run query from Server1 to Server2.
What credentials does distributor on Server1 use to connect to subscriber? Am I missing something? How do I troubleshoot this is?
Thanks,
-P

Hi sqlrepluser,

• When I plug in my iPhone to sync, it starts but does not complete the process and several pieces of data are not being transferred to my iPhone from my MacBook Air.

Problem:
When I plug in my iPhone to sync, it starts but does not complete the process and several pieces of data are not being transferred to my iPhone from my MacBook Air.
Any help that you can provide in helping my iPhone accurately sync with iPhoto and iTunes will be greatly appreciated.
Symptoms:
1) Sync: It’s not completing the sync. Below, I’ve provided all of my settings from the iTunes Summary tab so that you might tell me if I’ve selected any incorrect options. I prefer to sync the “old school” way – by connecting to the computer – as opposed to syncing over the cloud. Perhaps this is what’s causing the problem? Here is a list of the steps displayed in the iTunes window as the sync progresses:
waiting for sync to start (step 1 of 7)
backing up (step 2 of 7)
preparing to sync (step 3 of 7)
determining apps to sync (step 4 of 7)
preparing apps to sync (step 5 of 7)
importing photos (step 6 of 7)
waiting for changes to be applied (step 7 of 7)
syncing apps / copying 1 of 4 (App name) (step 7 of 7)
canceling sync
apple icon
2) Photos: I've selected only certain of my iPhoto albums to sync to my iPhone. All of the albums are correct/complete in iPhoto. All of the albums are listed on my iPhone, both before and after the sync, but the albums are empty (no actual photos) before and after the sync. Perhaps this is tied to the fact that the sync isn’t completing, but because “importing photos” is one of the steps that the incomplete sync displays, I don’t know.
3) Apps: When I launch iTunes and click on the Apps folder under the Library listing, then click on the Updates tab, iTunes searches for any Apps needing to be updated and provides a list. If I click on Update All, the Apps are successfully updated in iTunes. But, when I plug in my iPhone so that the updates will transfer to the apps on my iPhone, the updates don’t transfer to the apps on my iPhone and those apps still reflect that they need updating on the iPhone.
Other Potential Pertinent Info:
The flash memory hard drive on my MacBook Air recently died (perhaps a month or two ago). Apple had emailed me about a known issue and literally the next day, my MacBook Air crashed. I installed a new flash memory drive and re-installed everything from a backup off of an external hard drive. Everything seems to be working fine; it recreated accurately all of my software and data, including iPhoto and iTunes, the pictures and songs (respectively) for which are stored on that hard drive, as opposed to being on the flash memory in the MacBook Air itself. However, I don’t recall if the start of the sync problem described herein started happening at the same time that I replaced the flash memory drive. All I know is that the computer is working perfectly in all respects and that even as the sync is failing, it at least says that it’s doing the right things and looking in the right places (e.g., the list of albums on my iPhone matches the list of albums in iTunes, etc.).
Settings/Status:
MacBook Air
OSX v. 10.9
iPhoto ’11 v. 9.5 (902.7)
iPhone iOS 7.0.4
iTunes v. 11.1.3 (8)
Summary Tab
Backups (This Computer)
Options
Automatically sync when this iPhone is connected
Sync only checked songs and videos
Photos Tab
Sync Photos from iPhoto (429 Photos)
Selected albums, Events, and Faces, and automatically include (no Events)
Albums – 9 are selected

You need to download iTunes on your computer. iOS 6 requires the latest version of iTunes which is 10.7.

• HT1414 i am in the process of getting my iphone4 unlocked from att to use it on straighttalk. why do i need to "back up" the iphone and all of this? i dont have an apple computer sooo, im a little confused on why i need to do this. can someone please help

Can someone please explain and help me? I am unlocking an iphone4 from at&t to use it on the straight talk network. They've confirmed my request to do this and I am now a little confused as to what to do next. They want me to back up the phone using itunes on either a MAC or PC. I do not have an aplle computer but I do have an acer. Sooo, can I use it to do this? Or do I even have to do this to unlock and switch the iphone4 over to a new network? If I do have to what can I do to do this because like I said I do not have a computer by apple? Can anybody walk me through what I need to do next please? I've been waiting to do this for a very long time and I now have the option to have an iphone and use it. Thanks to my awesome boyfriend who Gave me his old iphone when he swapped back to an android. Hahahaha! Please anybody!? Because I sooo don't know what I'm doing and really do not want to mess the phone Or the process up. Thanks to any and all who read this and help me! It is greatly appreciate it!

Install iTunes on your Acer and you can back up the iPhone. Or back it up to iCloud. If you do not back it up you can get it unlocked, but you will lose all of your content.
You can get iTunes from http://www.apple.com/itunes.
Even after unlocking I'm not sure it will work on Straight Talk, because last time I checked ST used Verizon as its carrier, and an AT&T iPhone 4 is not compatible with Verizon's network. You can probably use it on Net 10 or T-Mobile once it is unlocked.

• I just order 8 calendars from iPhoto and they came to me fine. Now I need to order two more but when I go thru the process I get a message saying:unable to assemble calendar. There is a probleme with the photo with the file name"(Null)" more........ .

Would someone be able to explain to me the following issue with Iphoto?
I ordered 8 same calendars for my soccer team and received them fine. Although a couple of pictures on it are a little off (out of focus). I need to order two more of the same calendars but when I go thru the process ireceive an error message saying:
"Unable to to assemble calendar" There is a problem with the photo with the file name "(Null)" The full resolution version of this photo either cannot be located or is corrupt. Please replace this photo or delete it from your calendar.
How can I fine this "corrupt" photo? How did it go thru with the first batch of calendars but won't go thru now?
Thank you for your help.

Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start
with Option #4 and then #1 as needed.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

• HT201250 I use Time Machine to back up my entire computer with my external hard drive. I am getting a brand new iMac this month and was wondering what is the process of using this back up to restore my new computer exactly how my old computer was?

I use Time Machine to back up my entire computer with my external hard drive. I am getting a brand new iMac this month and was wondering what is the process of using this back up to restore my new computer exactly how my old computer was? I want to make sure I will still have various important files on my new computer, like my songs in iTunes, my photos in iPhoto, etc, etc. Thanks so much in advance!

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
When you turn on the new iMac for the first time, Setup Assistant will ask you to restore a backup, so connect the external disk and follow steps to restore all your files to your new iMac. Your new Mac will have the same settings and programs as your old computer.
In other cases, I would recommend to restore the whole backup without using Migration Assistant or Setup Assistant, but a Late 2012 iMac uses a special OS X build, so the OS X version that you're using on your old Mac won't work on the new one.
