The process WindowServer is constantly running at 10 % or more CPU utilization

It is causing the fans on my Macbook Pro to constantly run. How can I tell what is causing this? The acvitity monitor line reads:
Process Name - WindowServer
CPU% - (bounces between 7.8% and 10.5%)
CPU Time - 47:52.73 (as of this posting)
Threads - 5
Idle Wake Ups - 75
PID - 42387 (althought sometimes this says 116)
User - _window
Parent process is: launchd(1)
My system is:
Early 2011 MacBook Pro 2.3 Ghz Intel Core i7
8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
512Gig SSD Drive
OSX 10.9.2
Any advice is appreciated. I am sure it's not good for my system to constantly be running this hot!

Hi,
First and foremost let me advice you to be very careful while doing this.
For Rescheduling
RSPC> chain > Goto > Planning view and
click on Execution tab > select > Remove from Schedule and then in Maintain variant of start process reschedule for the day you require it to run.
For terminating active chain
You can start from SM37, find the process WID/PID then go to SM50 or SM51 and kill it. Once its done come back to RSMO and check the request, it should be red but again manually force to red and save by clicking on the total status button in the status tab. This shuld ensure that the process is killed properly.
The next step will be to go to targets that you were loading and remove the red requests from those targets.
Note: For source system loads you may have to check if the request is running in the source system and kill if needed and pull it again.
But for BW datamart delta loads u may have reset the datamarts in case u are going to pull the delta again.

Tried to sync my 5c on itunes but my daughter was logged in and now all her contacts, apps, and messages etc are on my phone. I was in the process of trying to run a backup because there was not enough memory for my phone to perform it. Help!!

I was in the process of syncing my iphone 5c and then wanting to do a backup through iTunes because my phone did not have enough memory to backup. When I connected the phone to my computer and pulled up Itunes I thought I was logged into Itunes (my name was showing) but apparently my daughter had used and logged into itunes. Needless to say it started to sync and now my phone has all of her contacts, messages, apps etc. I followed what had been previously posted :

You should use separate Apple ID's for iCloud, iMessage and FaceTime. These services are separate from iTunes.
Create a new Apple ID > https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/ -- Note: You need a verified email address
On one of the devices go:
Settings > iCloud > (Scroll Down) Delete Account > Sign in with the new Apple ID -- Note: This only affects the device
Settings > Messages > Send and Received > Apple ID > Sign Out > Sign in with the new Apple ID
Settings > FaceTime > Apple ID > Sign Out > Sign in with the new Apple ID
This will separate your iCloud content (i.e. Contacts, Notes, Reminders etc.), Messages and FaceTime.
You both can continue to use the same Apple ID for iTunes and share purchased Apps, Music and Movies

How to view the process in oracle is running?

i'm writing a procedure. That takes 15 mins to complete. Now, i want to check whether the process is running or the process is hanged or some other problem occurs. Is there any command from sql prompt that shows the status?

If the process completes (in 15 minutes), how can it be hanging? :-)
Hanging is along the lines of waiting forever on a fast object reuse enqueue... sigh
The view I usually use are:
- v$session_event to give me an idea what the session is doing
- v$session_wait to tell me what the session is waiting for on right now (and how long has it been waiting)
- v$session and v$sqltext to tell me what the current active SQL is (if applicable)
- and if there is a SQL, looking at v$sql_plan for the execution plan
But then there can also be nothing really wrong with the SQL for example, but how it is used. E.g. PL/SQL code does multiple passes through the same data set. In which case also have a look at v$sess_io to see what the I/O is like. A 100% cache hit ratio should set off a fe alarm bells. Or having a look at v$sesstat at the session statistics.
There is no single view or single query that can tell you "here, this is the problem!".
You need to look at at WHAT the process is doing and then determine which of these could be the problem. And it may turn out that the problem is in the actual logic of the process and not the way the process is executed.

Why do mulitple instances of the process 'disp+work.exe' run

Hello friends
I am getting 'out of memory' when I try to bring up a website from portal that uses XI. When I checked the processes running, I noticed many many instances of 'disp+work.exe' running. Why do we need so many instances, if at all needed.
Any feedback on this and also the out of memory problem will be greatly appreciated.
We have about 4 gig of RAM and I don't know how much extra RAM this nees?

Hi,
I think the disp+work.exe Processes relate to the work process you have configured ( DIA + BG + UPD+ SPO + ENQ)
So i you see @ os level you should see a number which is equivalent to total no of work process and i suppose it has no connection java worker threads.

Why the "Downloading the latest applications" bar constantly running?

There is a blue bar at the top that says "Downloading the latest applications" that is constantly running.

The process of Apache can not be killed on multi-CPU on Solaris 9

We have the program kill [process number] and kill -p [process number] on Solaris 9 and the Apache process is alive
more than 10 seconds. A user saw the message like "Cannot stop Administration Server. Please kill process $hpid manually and
try again."
We are using 1.3.19-rev2 of Apache.
Here is the extraction from our shell script.

We can reproduce the issue on sun4u Sun Fire V490 (2CPU, 8GB RRAM) , but we can not reproduce Sun blade (1CUP).
If those kind of error was barely happening on Sun Fire V490 but we can not see the phenomenon on Sun blade .

Program is not sending emails if I run it within the process chain

Hi All,
I am facing a weird issue; I have an ABAP program which compares tables and sends the results in an email. It is working fine if I run it standalone. However, if I run it within the process chain it still runs but doesn't send the email.
Any idea on how to troubleshoot this?

the user that executes the "mail" needs a valid emailaddress to be able to send...

Use
You use authorization checks in process chain maintenance to lock the process chain, and the processes of the chain, against actions by unauthorized users.
·        You control whether a user is allowed to perform specific activities.
·        You control whether a user is allowed to schedule the processes in a chain.
The authorization check for the processes in a chain runs when the system performs the check. This takes place upon scheduling or during synchronous execution. The check is performed in display mode. The check is performed for each user that schedules the chain; it is not performed for the user who executes the chain. The user who executes the chain is usually the BI background user. The BI background user automatically has the required authorizations for executing all BI process types. In attribute maintenance for the process chain, you can determine the user who is to execute the process chain.

For the administration processes that are bundled in a process chain, you require authorization for authorization object S_RS_ADMWB.

Evaluation of Process Status
If you set this indicator, all the incorrect processes in this chain and in the overall status of the run are evaluated as successful; if you have scheduled a successor process upon error or always.
The indicator is relevant when using metachains: Errors in the processes of the subchains can be evaluated as unimportant for the metachain run. The subchain is evaluated as successful, despite errors in such processes of the subchain. If, in the metachain, the successor of the subchain is scheduled upon success, the metachain run continues despite errors in unimportant processes of the subchain.
Mailing and alerting are not affected by this indicator and are still triggered for incorrect processes if they have an upon error successor.
Polling Indicator
With this indicator you can control the response of the main process for distributed processes. Distributed processes, such as the load process, are characterized as having different work processes involved in specific tasks.
With the polling indicator you determine whether the main process needs to be kept until the actual process has ended.
By selecting the indicator:
-         A high level of process security is guaranteed, and
-         External scheduling tools can be provided with the status of the distributed processes.
However, the system uses more resources; and a background process is required.
Monitoring
With the indicator in the dialog box Remove Chain from Automatic Monitoring?, you can specify that a process chain be removed from the automatic monitoring using CCMS.
By default CCMS switches on the automatic process chain monitoring.
For more information about the CCMS context Process Chains, see the section BW Monitor in CCMS.
Alerting
You can send alerts using alert management when errors occur in a process chain.
For more information, see Send Alerts for Process Chains.
Background Server
You can specify here on which server or server group all of the jobs of a chain are scheduled. If you do not make an entry, the background management distributes the jobs between the available servers.
Processing Client
If you use process chains in a client-dependent application, you can determine here in which client the chain is to be used. You can only display, edit, schedule or execute the chain in this client.
If you do not maintain this attribute, you can display, edit, schedule or execute the process chain in all clients.
Process variants of type General Services that are contained in a process chain with this attribute set will only be displayed in the specified client.
This attribute is transported. You can change it by specifying an import client during import. You must create a destination to the client set here in the target system for the import post processing (transaction RSTPRFC) The chain is activated after import and scheduled, if necessary, in this client.
Execution User
In the standard setting a BI background user executes the process chain (BWREMOTE).
You can change the default setting so that you can see the user that executes the process chain and therefore the processes, in the Job Overview. You can select the current dialog user who schedules the process chain job, or specify a different user.
The setting is transported.
The BI background user has all the necessary authorizations to execute all BI process types. Other users must assign themselves these authorizations so that authorization errors do not occur during processing.
Job Priority
You use this attribute to set the job priority for all of the jobs in a process chain.

When I start Firefox, the process starts running but no browser window appears.

Recently, I tried to start up Firefox and no browser appeared. Not sure of what to do, I uninstalled Firefox and installed the latest version. I have still have the same problem. The process appears to be running in the task manager, but no browser window ever comes up. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate (operating system is up to date minus two security updates). I believe that I installed v9.0.1. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same problem - every time I close firefox (using either the red x or by selecting file ---> exit) the program appears to close normally, but the firefox.exe *32 process continues to run. If I try to re-open firefox normally I get a message that the program is still running and I need to go into task manager and manually kill the process.
I could also kill the process from the command prompt, but both of those methods are slow and annoying. This issue has only been occurring for the last 24 hours or so; to the best of my knowledge I haven't downloaded any new software or updated any plug-ins that would have caused a switch from firefox's normal awesomeness. Norton doesn't show any new viruses or other nastiness on my computer.
I'm running 64 bit Windows 7 Home Premium edition.

Hint: Don't use the exec command! This would spawn off a new shell with a different PID. You might want to look at JNI (Java Native Interface) to attach a piece of C code to your Java application that can find out the PID.

[solved] To display Processes which are not running from constant process

i have constant processes prostat1,prostat2,prostat3,prosta4,prostat6,prostat8,prostat9 (6 processes) runs to support the application

How to get in an automatic activity in PBL code, the user assigned to the process instance.
In other words, if a previous activity is this.participant.next = Participant.findByName ( "ereyes")
in the activity that follows I want to get that user.

I need help to assign the variables that tell me, mySavedParticipantName.
The design process is as follows.
1 .- Begin Activity
2 .- Begin activity is connected to an interactive activity in the PBL method with code only does a log "Interactive Activity".
3 .- interactive activity is connected to the end activity.
4 .- The interactive activity is connected by a "Due Transition" to an automatic activity.
5 .- The automatic activity has a transition to the Interactive Activity
6 .- The PBL code of automatic activity is executed when it meets the deadline of interactive activity. This code is where I need to know which user was assigned to the interactive activity.
The stage of the process is as follows.
A. - It creates a process instance.
B. - User "Dan" is assigned the process instance but NO running interactive activity.
C. - The automatic activity reaches its deadline.
D. - Runs the code of automatic activity. and there need to know the user who was assigned, ie, the user "Dan"
If the code did not execute interactive activity, how can I assign the variable mySavedParticipantName for automatic activity and has a value?.
