The progress/time bar at top of the screen has disappeared
On my Ipod Touch -- when playing a song -- the bar at the top of the screen (that shows how much total time there is for the song and where the player is within the song) has disappeared. It was there yesterday, and now it's just gone. BTW, the volume control is still there. And otherwise, the player seems to be working fine. Somewhere, I read that this situation might be resolved by re-syncing it. I tried that and it didn't work. Any idea as to what may have happened... and how can I fix it?
In the music app play a song and when the song starts to play in the screen where the progress bar was tap in the middle of the screen and it should be back. I had this problem too but then i figured it out. And trust me if u do that it will be back. If that doesnt work tell me.

I somehow lost the ability to mass delete mail using the "edit" and check off function. The "delete" option no longer pops up at the bottom of the screen. Has Apple done away with this option in the latest software update or what?

Controlling the volume from the keyboard is a hassle.
Apple menu > System Preferences > Sound > Show volume in menu bar.

Hi I am unable to work my desktop....I was asked to force quit systems preferences and the window showed iTunes Safari etc so I have force quit these too, so now nothing works. install a clean OS on another drive.
Do not use yours as is.
Then backup and recover files to yet another drive.
Install and update apps from master copies.
Some corruption? I'd say possibly a lot and don't trust it.
Which is why you should always always have a system restore image or another boot drive you can erase and restore with.
And more than one backup set.
So even if you or DU does find errors, does 'fix' the DIRECTORY that may not be enough.
Permissions are important but minor in the scheme of things right now.
Having Recovery mode helps, if the entire drive is functional, and you have no bad sectors, and you have a perfect and excellent TimeMachine or other backup set.
But you need a new foundation and scaffolding to work from. -

I have had elements 10 for a long time but recently the scroll bar for the fonts has disappeared. any ideas?
First try resetting the tool by clicking the tiny arrow at the far left end of the options bar and choosing reset tool.
But you should be able to use the arrow keys to navigate through the fonts, too. -
I am setting up my new iphone4 and am trying to transfer all of the contacts etc from my old iphone 3GS.After linking it with itunes the screen has shown 'restore in progress' for almost 24 hours with time remaining going backwards. Is this normal? Should I let it continue?
No, that is not normal. I guess you are trying to restore from the latest backup created by your old 3GS?

We have iPhone 4 and I plugged phone into after market hardwired plug in car (that we have used successfully for two years). The screen has gone black and wont turn on. Phone was charged. FIRST charge with an Apple charger for at least 15 minutes. Then hold the HOME and SLEEP buttons at the same time until an Apple logo appears. Hold for up to 30 seconds. If nothing happens the phone hardware has failed.

Hi, my iphoto had a transparent ? mark on it and wouldn't open so I dragged it onto the desk top and now it has disappeared... I cannot find it anywhere in my finder, it seems to be gone, please help!
You have one and possibly two problems.
First problem you tried to open the iPhoto library with iTunes and appeared to have set iTunes as the default app for iPhoto Libraries. That isn;t going to work.
To fix that select the iPhoto library in the Finder and do a File->Get Info. In the middle of the Info window you'll see Open With dropbox. Click on that and select iPhoto, then select the Change All button
This will get iPhoto back as the default app to open iPhoto Libraries.
Double click the library now and if nothing else is wrong iPhoto will open the library. If it does do as Michael wrote and go to the Applications folder and drag iPhoto to the dock to remake the shortcut.
However since you started this thread by saying that the iPhoto shortcut in the dock had a question mark on it it is possible that iPhoto is missing from your Applications folder. If it is post back.

Won't boot. Invalid siblink link?
Hard disk won't boot. Verify says "Invalid sibling link, Volume check failed". Did complete restore from Time Machine and still won't boot. Booted from external drive and reinstalled operating system. Still won't boot. Same error. What is this?
